No Lock and No Led the only options? - Desire HD General

Is No Lock, both versions in the market, the only option for when your phone goes into sleep that will allow you to get the screen back on with the up/down volume or power?
Right now, neither work well with my Inspire. The one No Lock won't auto start upon boot, have to set it each time after a reboot. Then, the volume buttons when you hit them it beeps like you are adjusting the volume.
The other No Lock app doesn't even work.
The thing I really miss about my Nexus One, Trackball wake/unlock and LED alerts.
The No Led app doesn't support any mail app but Gmail...sigh. So no other option apparently I have searched and found for regular Sense mail application LED on the screen alerts with different colors etc..
EDIT: Figured out how to do a custom status bar message so it sees a new email from any app, that is good. But, No Led doesn't work if you are using a No Lock screen app. Although, when No Led is enable, the touch buttons at the bottom are active and you don't need to use another button to wake the phone.
So, good/bad. See how it works.
Thanks

Power status light?

I'm getting an xperia, I used to have a tytn II and now have a touch pro.
When I moved from the TYTN II to the touch pro I really missed having hardware keys and the LED blinking whenever the phone was on.
I could only tell if the phone was on by pressing the power button on the touch pro, which meant on a night when I wanted to switch off the phone I end up pressing the button, only to see the phone was already off then have to wait for the phone to start only shut it down.
Can you make the light flash every so often when it's on on an X1? If not is there a way to tell if it's on or off (without turning it on if it's off)?

you could briefly press the power key to see if the screen immediately lights up, if not then it is off
or you could allow waking up the phone with any hardware key and click one of the other keys to see if it's on
I'm sure, with all of the apps and mods on here, there is a way to make your lights blink every so often as well
however, I've noticed the lights aren't very bright, even at night time
You can slide it open to check if it is on
OMG I've been going nuts over this, I didn't think about sliding the keyboard out!
The any key wake is an even better option, thanks.
I'd still like to get the LEDS lit though, as I used to remeber to switch off the TYTN II when it lit up after I turned off the (ceiling) lights.
Thanks for the help

A workaround:
Set SMS or Mail notification lights to "unlimited"
Send yourself a SMS or Mail and keep that one "unread", then you have your Xperia blinking as long as its turned on.

Screen turn on when messages received and home button turn on screen disable

Hi all
Is there any way to disable messages to turn on screen ?
And is there any way of disable the home button waking the phone ?
I am rooted. Thanks in advance

For the home button waking phone issue, see this thread in this forum from yesterday:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2266545
I'm not as worried about the Home key, but I have the same complaint about receiving SMS.
When I receive a text message, my screen turns on for a few seconds, then turns off again. Is there a way to stop this?
If I touch the screen when it is on, it takes me into whatever I touched, and the screen stays on. That is particularly a problem when it turns on while in my pocket.
My phone is set to have no lock screen (and unless you use a PIN or similar, I don't know why you would want a lock screen - it's just one more step to get to using your phone).
My Messaging app is set to show notifications in the notification bar and play a sound and vibrate, but not to show a message preview.
So, I think it's actually a bug that the screen would turn on at all, just from receiving an SMS or MMS message.
Am I missing something? Is there a way to stop this behavior?

Music beat lights on with screen locked / other apps foreground

If you want your music beat lights to show while your screen is locked, or while you are using another app, do the following:
S1: Open an app that makes a notification appear in the notification bar, for example, the app I recommended above, or Skype.
S2: Turn on your music, then lock the screen - the lights should turn off.
S3: Turn on the screen, do NOT unlock the phone...swipe down to open the notifications panel, then press any other app's notification. the phone should unlock, with your lights still working even if you lock it again or use other apps.
However, lights do NOT change colour...it's locked to the current one. I suspect the Walkman app has to be in the foreground to process the album's dominant colour to display it.The workaround stops when you open the Walkman app. You can change songs from notification bar or lockscreen without stopping the workaround.
Let me know if it works for you or if your phone is locked with a pin!
I've tried with the pin lock and it doesn't work. I love doing the walkman + lock thing, unfortunately after a while the color doesn't "beat" anymore, it just stays on without changing

Many thanks for your tricks.
From your trick I found an easier way which no need open any app
- Play music -> turn off screen -> turn on screen -> swipe down notifications panel -> select setting icon on top right -> home button (option) -> turn screen off again.

hmm, wouldn't recommend leaving it on for too long. not sure about the battery drain if you do. I do it just for fun sometimes, that's all. Pretty sure someone can come up with a proper LED control for the SP in future, though it's not a priority. Would like my notification lights to cycle colours and all that without any workarounds
Unfortunately I need to wait for a root that bypasses locked bootloader before I can do anything.

I had it on for almost half an hour, it didn't drain too much but it overheated

Will using the light effects for long time, say 1 hour, damage the LED lights? I love music beat effect and would like to leave it on!

an hour is okay i think, just i suggest you turn off your mobile data and wifi because it'll drain the battery and because it'll make the phone overheat. but just as I have said before, after a while the led lights doesn't beat anymore they just stay on in one mode and stay that way

No worries about the LED damage.. they will last longer then the phone itself
Easy way of doing it
Instead of doing all this stuff, there's a neat little way by which you can keep the music led's working consuming no extra time.:cyclops:
Install Mini Lock from play store(It's just a 10 kb app!)
Open the app, give it administer priveleges, then slide up from the home screen button as you would do to open google now, But now you will see something different, there will be an option to launch google now or mini lock, choose mini lock and set it default.
Now open walkman, play music and lock the screen using the slide up gesture from home key, your screen will be locked and the music led will be ON!!!
Enjoy!!

[Q] Issues with Active Display and Navigation Bar

Hello! I'd like to say thank you too XpLoDWilD and the other developers involved in this ROM. I think it is truly one of the best around!
I have experienced a few issues, and was hoping someone could direct me in order to resolve them. I am currently using a Nexus 5 device!
First off, sometimes i will randomly loose my entire navigation bar when opening messaging or other apps, and have to shut the screen off and turn it back on in order to see the home button, back button or multi task. I am not entirely sure why it does this, but i am using immersive mode now to see if the issue goes away.
Secondly regarding Active Display, It seems the function wonderfully other then when I initially unlock the phone through the active display or enter a notification through the active display, it then unlocks then my old lockscreen appears for a split second and then finally unlocks my device and returns to my normal screen. It happens all within a few seconds.
If anyone could provide me with some insight or direct me to whom i could bring this issue too that would be great thank alot!
+1 on Point 1 (navigation bar disappearing)
2013-01-08 nightly and before
I have the same where the navigation bar disappears completely at times.
I have the same where when active display shows I've received a message/notification and I chose to go the app that the screen blacks out. If I then press home it goes to program.
I also have where the time disappears from the notification bar. If I switch the screen off and unlock again the time is back.

Disable screen wake on notification

Has anyone found a way to disable screen wake for notifications? Every time I receive a new email or hangout message(Those are the two I've noticed so far) my screen will turn on. Driving me crazy.

+1 on that, driving me crazy also and I can't find any way to turn it off.

Just tested it, I don't have screen wake on notification, neither with power plugged in, nor on battery. Also tried with with always on display, it only adds notification icon, doesn't even change the brightness.
Go into "settings" and turn off all notifications
it's also annoying that the screen lights up when the battery reaches 100% while wirelessly charging,
it lights up the whole bedroom.
This was driving me crazy. Came across 'SMS Popup' app I used years ago and it works like a charm. No more screen lighting up when a message comes in. Disable notifications in stock messaging app and enable in SMS popup. Unselect 'screen on for popup'. I like the popup options better than default messaging app too, you can configure the buttons and even have one that reads the message out loud.
Edit: After further testing, results are very inconsistent. Works great sometimes and not at all others. I have uninstalled and it's back to square one.
