replacement phone. no more vibrants - Vibrant General

So i filed a claim through asurion yesterday to replace my stolen phone and they told me that they no longer support the vibrant model and that they were going to upgrade me to a new model at the same deductible. it looks like there are no more vibrants through insurance. i will definitely miss my vibrant =(

Not good!!! Looks like ill be lookin on craigs list

Can you let us know which phone they send? Thank you.

Most likely the sgs 4g

Ya let's us know dude!

it should come in tomorrow so ill let you guys know

wonder about through tmobile? i'm still within one year...might get a 4g for the hell of it.

Interesting thread. I purchased my Vibrant the 1st week when it released, and I bought the insurance. The T-Mobile rep told me that "when" they stopped supporting the Vibrant, ill get an updraged phone, if I pay the $100 bucks for the deductible. YES, they used that as a sales pitch to get me to buy the insurance.
Now, I use a G2, but my wife has my Vibrant. It will be interesting to know what they send you.

Love the Vibrant... it will be missed.

Wonder if you pay the difference you can vet the gs2?

They usually only let you select older phones

I'm curious to hear back what you get, I have two Vibrants......

So my phones lost right now. Thanks to ups. But I called and they're sending out a galaxy 4g

I just have no eta since right now its lost somewhere

I got a new Vibrant through T-Mo just a few weeks ago. (GPS on it is great, btw.)
I think it's crazy that a year old device is already "unsupported." WTH?

yeah shows that tmobile really only cares about profits. this makes me think that the vibrant is not going to get any more updates. very sad. makes me really hesitate about buying phones from tmobile if they are not too worried about support

Yeah, the fact that Tmobile no longer supports a year old phone is the reason why I'm seriously considering buying the Galaxy Nexus out of contract even though I am not pleased with the features they released. I would much rather wait for the new Galaxy and a higher res screen but I don't want to take the risk of having support for that dropped too.

I did a warranty claim b/c my phone was not charging, i got a vibrant S and not a Vibrant 4gS....

Read my first post in detail brah. Mine was through insurance. Not warranty
Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk

I'm actually kind of bummed about the galaxy s 4g. There's no internal memory card, no CyanogenMod, and there are a lot more roms and modifications on the for the vibrant. The front facing camera is a neat addition but i hardly ever use it. I dont really see a difference as far as the 4g modem. It's pretty much the same for day to day usage for me.

Epic for sale?

Hello all, I'm looking for a Samsung epic for sale between 150 & 200$ if anyone has one or has seen a deal like that would you kindly tell me? I love my hero but its about time to upgrade to bigger and better things,
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
There's this website called eBay.com that might have what you're looking for.
Good luck with your phone buying goals for 2011 OP!
Also try craigslist for your location.
I've looked on eBay, way outta my price range, and no one is selling the epic on Craigslist for my area
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
You're not going to find one for that price unless something is wrong with
Don't know why someone would sell you one for that price when they can easily get more for it on ebay or CL.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Got mine for $200 a few months back off of Ebay. It is difficult to find them for that price, but not impossible.. The good news is there are a lot of people in this forum who want to stick it to Samsung, maybe they will do what they keep saying they are going to do and sell.

Yeah, I'm sure that's how someone would stick it to Samsung, sell their phone for less than half of what it's supposedly worth and then can't buy another phone.... If you're that dumb you deserved to be screwed by Samsung!
If you are up for an upgrade through sprint then I believe that the epic is selling on amazon for $99. Not sure if it works with an upgrade or if it is only for new customers but it might be worth checking out
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I would consider a trade... Only for a pristine, mint evo... Black, not white
Ill have to look at amazon for that, and if already had the evo I wouldn't be trying to get an epic though I would trade if I did, I like the epic more lol I wouldn't want the black evo ne way white is so much better IMO

With all the angry people on this site you should be able to find someone. But, If they sell their phone what would they have to complain about anymore. I'm just puzzled why they didn't take their phones back within the 30 day refund period? Well good luck. I hope you read all the threads before you buy one so you know what your getting. I have eb13 and my phone runs great. I still think this is the best phone I have had so far. Just my $.02
Yeah I hear its a great phone, and its everything I want in a phone, great size all around awesome keyboard brilliant display, all that, granted Samsung might not be the best, but they can make a damn sexy phone and to the amazing Guy, my upgrade is in November, and thru radioshack its 150 so ill prolly have to wait till then, unless I can find a better deal,

New phone trade in...

Hey guys, I've been wondering about something recently. Does anyone know sprint's policy on phone exchanges? Basically, I have an epic and this is my 3rd replcement phone which is STILL going crazy. I was wondering since this is my 3rd phone should I try waiting till the nexus s 4g comes out to replace with that since its a "similar phone"? Or should I just exchange now for whatever? Thanks
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
slim and no chance of exchanging it for a nexus imho. they will just change it out for another epic
Its like a crazy number of replacements before they will give you a new one, let alone upgrade. Doesn't hurt to tty though. I have better luck when calling
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
What I would do is go ahead and take it in and get a replacement. Hopefully the next one won't go all crazy on you. Then, if you really want the Nexus S, when it comes out, sell your Epic and use that money to put towards the Nexus.
There is no comparable replacement to the Epic (yet), so you'll keep getting Epics if they are exchanged. Nexus S will not be comparable.

Doesn't matter... Sprints not going to just give you one of there next top phones to replace an older supposed top of the line that did live up to its potential. Not with out a fight at least.
As one of the other relies stated it takes a lot of trade ins before they would offer you a different phone.
It took me 8 Treo 800w's(3 in one visit) and about a weeks worth of calling customer services and retentions before they finally gave me a Treo Pro as a replacement.
They even wanted me to use my early upgrade about a month early. I did get to stick of to them a month later... used my upgrade to get the Pre(lol) and sold the Pro for 300$.

Yea the 3d I'm gonna wait till virus or myn has a chance to look at the bootloader but to be honest the sgs2 great but i hate touch wiz and Samsung but ill sacrifice my not liking something for great hardware and they both tip the scales so ur right though I should wait but now thus thread will be attacked by EVO sgs2 fanboys LOL like the others

Phones aside for a second, you're talking about a big expensive switch on the carrier side. If you're on a SERO plan you're not going to find anything close to that on AT&T. Read the posts on the USA threads and you can scam your way to unlimted HSPA+ data and messaging for $20 but your all in monthly bill is still going to higher than Sprint. I don't know what the ETF is with Sprint but it cost me $200 to leave T-Mobile (and worth every penny).
At current prices you're looking at $700-800 for a SGS2. That may come down when inventory catches up with demand but I don't see it dropping below $600 any time soon. Also you'll lose all carrier support for your phone so warranty work will be provided directly by Samsung (direct or via Expansys USA). If you buy it off eBay you have no warranty at all.
As for comparison of the two phones, I'd say the real comparison is between the SGS2 and Sensation. They (for now) are both the flagships from Samsung and HTC. There's a thread on the Sensation forum which details the differences. You could use that to compare against the E3D specs.
If you want a flashship phone, and can live with the locked bootloader, the subsidized Sensation will cost you a lot less on T-Mobile. I got the SGS2 but was willing to pay a rediculous amont for it and willing to take the risks. I'll see in the long run if that was a good decision. So, think about all of this before you make your decision. Also, Sprint will probably get a CDMA version of the SGS2 sometime in the next nine months so if you wait you wont have incurr as much expense. Good luck...

Thank you very much a non bias opinion rare LOL but yes in my reality I can afford it but I was going to get the 3d then saw sgs2 but its so close spec wise it comes down to very tiny detail like do I want 3d or not LOL.
Now i have the EVO 4g love it love sense love Sprint my plan was get EVO 3d not through upgrade but 2nd line cause thank god my brother wants my EVO or I'd be stuck with a 150$ bill plus dual 4g payout.
If the sgs2 does drop.on sprint ill have an upgrade so might as well stay on for now get 3d if sgs2 comes to sprint or price goes down why not have the two best at least till the new jaw droppers come out LOL .
Anyways thank u much

Seeing that the thunderbolt and sensation have signed bootloaders the evo3d will probably go down the same path, if thats an issue for you than the sgs2 would be the only choice. Or even the lg optimus 3d.

Not really because as u may have saw I'm gonna get both cause why not but they will not put both major phones out at the same time for Sprint it will be great if they would but the info I have from a person who worked within all companies ATT Verizon tmo and Sprint ATT and Verizon district man for years on each told me the way the makers of the phone are told Sprint persay will flagship there phone not giving any flagship releases so I don't see it hitting shelves for Sprint for a few months I want the 3d now sgs2 maybe later but god knows there is gonna be a better phone then both soon enough

Possible buy..

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a att branded Nexus S, found one on Craigslist for $300..
I think its a fair price, Guy is local and I'm tired of my Inspire.
Reasons I would like to buy it, smaller screen size, pure aosp, battery life...
I just got the inspire about 3 months ago and will more then likely keep it..
What are things I should look for to make sure it is the real deal or just in general?
Any help is appreciated honestly.
I know I could wait for something better to come out ina few months but I don't use my phone for gaming, just purely alot of web browsing, texting and surfing forums..
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
Only advantage to the Inspire is screen size. I have owned a Inspire and currently own a NS4G and I like both, but Nexus is smooth. When I buy phones I really just check cosmetic and play with it and check about phone to see what its on and browse the interwebs for a few.
Make sure it is truly the i9020a version and not the i9020t or some other variant. Otherwise it isn't truly the AT&T phone (would not work with 3G otherwise).
What should the about read besides 2.3.4 which kernal is stock etc and thanks for the replies guys keep then coming please

Nexus S phones do not have the carrier branding. Only Samsung and Google in the back.
Basically I was asking if the "a" at the end of the model number is for at&t?

Get the IMEI # and call att check it. If he wont give it to you then move on! Gsm phones don't have esn they take sims and you could end up with a stolen phone and not even know it. I know here in Austin they are going for less than what that guy is asking. Just seen a white one for $260 and it was squeky clean.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
The AT&T nexus s is only $99 on contract, so $300 for LBNIB isn't sketchy--but the white ns for $260 kind of is. I say meet with the guy if you like the price, inspect for damages and all accessories, then stick your sim in and wait for that 3G or H symbol to pop up. Also make test calls and take pics to ensure speakerphone/mic/camera/etc. is working.
I just bought a LBNIB for $325, so $300 is a good deal imo.

So I just talked to him again, he sent the pictures like he said he would, sweet baby jesus she looks fine! lol
Turns out the reason he mentioned his friend was because they are old business partners and the actual seller wouldn't be able to meet me in person, because he would be at work, so he is going to give the phone to his friend, who he trusts to meet up with me.
I didn't ask the guy where he worked but his friend works downtown here and it's not to far for me, so hopefully all goes well..

Question.
I preordered my Evo 4g thru radio shack, and never had to deal with radio shack again. After purchase, everything (repairs, warranty issues, etc) was handled exclusively thru sprint (the way it should be, I think).
I know many bought thru best buy, and I seem to recall post saying those people had to have certain issues resolved solely by best buy. But I also seem to recall reading that best buy has a buy back plan or something.
Can anyone familiar with best buy report what any benefits/there may be to purchasing thru best buy?
Thanks.
