New Owners need to update Maps - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

I did not check the version of Maps that was pre-installed on my Note but found that if I selected "Navigation" directly from the the Navigation Icon rather than via maps, that Navigation said that none of my contacts had addresses.
A quick Google search revealed that this was a bug introduced around September 2011 and has subsequently been fixed. Unfortunately my Note had the buggy version pre-installed.
I did not get an "update" alert so went into My Applications and forced an update to "Maps" which fixed the problem.
Hope this helps someone who may be puzzled like me!

Layar and Google Maps issues on MCR 3.0

Whenever im using Layer and wish to launch Google Maps, the maps application force closes. Have tried reinstalling both Layar and Google Maps with no luck. Is this just a possible compatibility error or am i missing something?
Thanks
It's worse.
Later has disappeared from the Market!
Layar still shows up on the UK Market. Just downloaded a minor update this morning
Why doesn't it show on the Dutch Market.
It's a Dutch app!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is a little strange. If you still have problems (and a twitter account) get in touch with http://twitter.com/Rhymo He's the CEO of Layar, and tends to reply to you fairly quickly.

OTA update now available

Hi,
For those with a Legend on Voda in the UK, the s/w update is now available which will allow you to pick up Layar and Google Goggles (and doubtless some others) from the Android store.
Takes a while, and appears to hang a couple of times (the worse being on the Vodafone startup screen) but works and gets there in the end.
Settings > About Phone > System Software Updates.
Cheers
Thanks, got the update and Google Goggles and Layar

Google Maps Not loading?

Hi guys
Did anyone update their google maps recently? my phone pushed through a message saying there is a new google map available so i was like "Why not". Now that i did, google maps wont load at all, its just stuck at loading (Though for the first second there is packets sent and received on the 3G network)
I have tried uninstalling the update (But maps still wouldn't work) and re-installing the update (But it still wouldn't work). Does anyone know what to do?
Many thanks ahead if you do know the answer cause maps is one of my commonly used app to navigate around.
Mine loads perfectly fine, even after the recent update... no idea what could be the problem with yours

Google Maps Navigation not working? - canada

Hey all,
For anyone with Bell vibrant version, do any of you have the problem with the "Google Maps Navigation is not yet available for your location" popping up when you open the app? Obviously this is not true since it's fully available here in Canada, not to mention the fact that it worked fine for me before. On my previous JG9 firmware it worked fine, but it seems to have sort of fudged up after the JH2 update. Now it shows that message, turn-by-turn nav is not available and only gives you the option of showing you directions.
Not that I use navigation much, but how should I go about in fixing this problem? any settings or caches I can clear to make it work again?
yes, same error, the fix is to install a new version from Android market
but it is better to use a decent GPS software like CoPilot, IGo, or anything of that quality.
Thanks for the info. I don't think I use GPS enough to buy a better app for it though, but I'll remember it as reference. I'll download the new version of stock for now.

Google Maps Navigation suddenly stopped working for me on Friday 20th (southern Ontario). Current version is 4.4.0. No update available yet.
It has happened right in the middle of a long weekend trip. It's good I had my old reliable Garmin with me...
I got my phone less than a week ago. Installed Google Maps 4.4 right away. It's worked perfectly since. I'm on whatever firmware the phone came with.
I'm having the same problem on two different phones.
It comes and goes. Restarting the phone usually helps as a temporary fix.
@AllGamer: Google's Navigation may not have some advanced features but I find it far superior to both my Magellan and TomTom.
created a FAQ that answer some of the questions regarding the "Navigator"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=763887
@hoomanb yes, i do like the google navigator, but it's not quite perfect yet, and as you said neither is TomTom
every one of those apps have something i like and dislike
currently using CoPilot, is almost great, but is also missing something i like from TomTom & Google Maps
if they could just combine all 3 of them together...

[Q] Location - Map Update Required

Having had my DHD for a week (very happy btw) I've now got an odd problem with Locations.
Today I've started getting a notification
"Map update required"
When I click on it tells me "To use online map services, you must have the latest version of the map. Please download an updated map and try again. Tap Download to update United Kingdom, Ireland"
Clicking download just produces "No matched map - unable to find any matching map. Please download this map manually."
I can't find either of those maps then in the list to download them, presumably because they are already installed.
If I add another map then that country appears on the update list as well.
Any ideas? Anyone seen this before.

Same symptoms here.
Newbie here,
I've had exactly the same issue. Decided to try downloading Netherlands map just as a test and that seems to have installed OK (3D buildings etc.)
Hopefully it's just an error soon to be corrected.
Hmm. Seems to have gone away all on its own after 3 or 4 hours. Maybe a non-issue after all.
Not device related but coverage issue
