youtube videos wont load in 3G only on WiFi? - EVO 4G General

Youtube works just fine when using WiFi , the issue is when using 3G it opens and it searches the videos but when i try to play them, I get the error message unable to connect to server touch to retry?

probably because you're in an area with ****ty service, like 90% of all sprint customers.

Yep, it's kind of hard to load a youtube video when your 3g speeds are dial-up speeds.

I don't have a problem loading YouTube videos on 3G.

I also had to set RTSP port to 0
and rtsp proxy to 0.0.0.0
After that i could load youtube fine on 3g
like the other poster said you need your msl to edit these values

So if your evo is flashed to Boost and you change your RTSP and PROXY to 0 it wont damage your flash at all?
Off-Topic question.
Can you Root a Flashed boostmobile evo with Unrevoked3 and not mess up the Flash?

After some time trying out different things... I find out how to solve this , all I have to do is turn the WIFI on ,it docent matter if am not connected to WIFI , the video loads using the 3G.

Been trying to resolve this issue too and "carlosraf20" is correct...just turn on your wifi and it will work.

This work for me and a few other I know to. Why all of a sudden we have to do this. I didn't have to have wifi on before or anyone else. Kinda seem like our battery will drain alot quicker when we do this though. For the record 4g doesn't play youtube videos either so for now the only method is to leave wifi on for now. Hope this gets fix though.

Real video streaming over WIFI?

Finally I managed to make Real player working, following the instructions on this link www.modaco.com/index.php?showtopic=223297&st=0
Everything works just fine when I stream video over 3G network but when I try the same same over WIFI it just tries for 30 seconds and ends up with the message "Response or data from server timed out" and that is it. WIFI is working normally everywhere else in any of the apps that require the Net.
Anybody has a clue?
Sorry if this has been discussed before, I searched the forum but nothing came out...
Using JJ with latest ROM...
OK, let me rephrase it… Can anybody use Real player to stream video or audio using WIFI connection?
I real player all around my house to stream audio over wifi so i can listen to music.
I cant get it to work on 3g as it gives a timeout error.
steve
Thanks for the reply.
You have, exactly, the opposite situation.
I prefer to have it over WIFI rather then 3G since it takes a lot of bandwidth and I have contract of only 200 Mb per month.
Now I am even more confused than before…

WiFi problem, dissconects all the time...

Hi!
Bought a Tattoo for my kid and now we got a huge bill because the wifi seems to dissconects itself all the time and she is not that good checking the wifi state.
Is this a known problem or what can i do about it?
Using a Netgear N router and WEP (must use WEP because of my stupid XBox that can't handle any other security).
Please let me know how to fix this so she can use the phone!
I have this problem too, and as I found it's a known problem on net.
I'm using wifi fixer, which running as a service and reconnect everytime the connection drops. It's not a solution, but make things better.

Hi!
Thanks for the info, is that an app i can find on the Android's app place?
he he he.... did not notice your link Sorry!
Looks to me that HTC is screwing things up even with Android devices...
This phone realy sucks!
Me again!
I've struggled with this phone a couple of hours now but i can't get the wifi to work now.
I press connect to my network, i have entered the wep password but a couple of secs later it says disconnected...
What can i do about this?
I have the same problem - Is it best to configure the Wi Fi settings like IP address etc ? And if so whats the best settings for it?
I've managed to get it to connect now, removed an app that kept track of wifi traffic. But it seems to me that Tattoo does not use wifi when i use YouTube for example. Checked my providers homepage for traffic that we pay for and they had traffic for today. And the phone has not been used all day until my test this evening.
Is there a way to tell the phone to use just the wifi connection when using youtube app or explorer...?

Thanks, this sounds easy enough for my kid to handle when she wants to use the wifi and to be sure that it uses the wifi and not the expensive data from our phone company.
Thanks again! Will try this!

Vibrant wifi issue?

If I am at home using my personal router, my wifi works great and I have no problems at all. However, when I am at the library, which is everyday for me, if i try to use their wifi I instantly get this error message that the page cannot be displayed even though my phone claims i am connected to their wifi.
anyone else have this issue? it is extremely annoying and i downloaded wifi fixer but it didnt fix anything.
any ideas?
If it works at home then I doubt it's an issue on your side, sometimes on networks such as school campuses and libraries you have to register your device on the network for it to be able to access the internet. Have you asked the library on how you can do that?
Well it is a public library and they have fliers up that tell you how to use their wifi. I thought it was an issue with my phone so I didn't bother asking a librarian. If no one else has a solution I will definitely be asking tomorrow.

Do they use WiFi proxy? Like a redirect to a webpage that requires you to register your MAC.

well, Android has had that issue ever since, and it is still not fixed.
I think Samsung Galaxy S gets around it in the Wi-Fi proxy config (under settings, Wireless and Network, hit the menu button at the bottom of the screen, and go to Advanced), but you need to know the proxy hostname and port (I think the default will be 80 for HTTP requests).
I haven't tested it though.
Here's the issue log from code.google.com
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=1273&colspec=ID Type Status Owner Summary Stars
Mine cannot get on WiFi at the rink I go to. Other people could not get their notebooks or netbooks onto that WiFi as well. My HD2 connects to that WiFi just fine, though.
I don't think it's a Vibrant-specific issue.
I've had a similar problem with the wifi network on my campus. It redirects to a logon page that the vibrant won't even display. Apparently the android browser has an issue with security certificates that aren't configured properly. Froyo is supposed to fix it, but in the mean time try connecting with the firefox browser. I'm able to connect with it, then switch back to the regular browser or any other program. Once you're logged in you're good to go.

im running the unofficial version of froyo but its still not working. im downloading the firefox now. im crossing my fingers for it to work tomorrow!!!

It looks like streaming radio via 3g is blocked. Wifi works. FIXED!!!

I've tried a online radio, winamp, and another really popular app and they start buffering then stop then start then stop.
Could it be possible that it is disabled in the phone? I'm going to try different streaming stuff. Pandora works but crashes sometimes.
Scanner radio works. Huh. Could it be a port problem on the phone? Could shoutcast streaming be on a different port than other streaming media? I presume it could but I am interested in other people's thoughts. I should try wifi too. 4g is being stubborn now and doesn't want to connect when it should.
Streamfurious isn't working either. Can someone try this to confirm if it isn't working or not.
I just confirmed it at home. Streaming radio is only working on wifi. Can others see if this is the case with your phone? I might go by sprint tomorrow and see if works on the display model. I'm pissed! Yeah I can understand why that might be done but it still makes me mad.
Plays fine on WiFi and 3G - Winamp Shoutcast
I hope my phone isn't defective. I ruu'd it and it's still acting the same way.

Could be just the particular feed needs a good ping or something and that's why its stuttering over 3g...
give it another night and some time, could be so many factors.
I've used both pandora and tunein many times in the car, never had a problem yet.
Well, besides pandora skipping every-damn-time a good song comes on. But that's happened on every phone i've ever used pandora on.
I've tried the same and many different feeds and they aren't working. Streamfurious isn't working. I can connect to wifi and it streams fine. Then I quickly turn off wifi and go to 3g and after the buffer empties out, it tries to reconnect but there's no success. I thing with 3g a channel played once for a few seconds and then stopped. After that, no other channels worked. The few seconds it was working, it sounded horribly distorted and garbled before it crapped out. I have my epic sitting on the table here next to me. I could activate it and see if it happens on that phone. I have a feeling that it will work fine on the epic...
Big sigh
There's a thread somewhere on the forum talking about sprint and an issue with their proxy. If you zero out the proxy settings in your ##3282# menu, it fixes this problem. I did this on my new evo and it fixed the problem.

I noticed in the comments of a online radio that some evo people couldn't play mp3 streaming but aac would work. Sure as ...., aac stations are working. Interesting how some people are affected and some aren't. I'm going to try the proxy trick.
Here's the link to what I found that worked.
http://forum.sdx-developers.com/android-2-1/%28solved%29-android-2-1-streaming-apps/
As for streaming applications like Pandora and TuneWiki you'll have to disable Multimedia gateway (new feature in 2.1 rom) .It works fine after that:
phone > Dialer > ##3282# > Edit mode > Advanced > Enter "MSL" > You will see RTST Proxy, HTTPPD Proxy > modify every list > set Address with "0.0.0.0", port with '0'.
After a reboot it works! I'm so happy now! I changed something in the quote so it would point to the right menu.
rtsp proxy port 0
rtsp proxy address 0.0.0.0
http pd proxy port 0
http pd proxy address 0.0.0.0
All the way at the bottom is where they are.
Glad you found what I was referring too; I was going to find the link again but I posted from my phone and then forgot. That is what fixed the issue for me on my EVO.
EDIT: You can call Sprint to get your MSL number. I did and just told them I needed to fix an issue and they gave it to me without any issues. Very good customer service from what I've seen so far.
Great find! I was having the same issue and I remembered I had to do the same thing with my Moment last year after reading this post haha
Yeah. I forgot too

[Q] youtube. video issues.

Ok so lately my internet stops working...and i have to turn off my wifi and turn it back on so it works again...i dont know if its youtube. But most video take fo evaaa to load and load slow when they start playing....is it just me. Or is it cause acer needs updates or is it honeycomb ....someone give me some input. Thanks....i dig this tablet but dam its annoyin now.. and i do have latest update...by the way
I am also having issues with Youtube streams. I've confirmed the same videos play fine on my laptop so I know it's not the video or my connection. It's impossible to watch a youtube video in HD on my tablet.
Just started having the same issue today, but I did switch from using intel's my wifi tech in my netbook to a netgear wifi router, so I'm guessing that's my issue.
