Wacom Pens... - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

Since the Galaxy Note uses Wacom technology, will you be able to use other Wacom pens with it?

Yes!!! I already own a Galaxy Note and also an HP EliteBook 2740p Tablet PC.
I tried to switch the pens and they worked seamlessy.
Ciao.

Thanks I plan to check now

Really looking forward to trying the Note out using my Fujitsu Siemens Tablet PC Pen.
If that works I shall definitely look into purchasing further pens.

ill be finding out this week but, there is a samsung extra pen they provide for a better writing experience. Although i notived on the youtube video that that person's 'wacom' pen did write better .

Just used the pen of my fujitsu siemens lifebook T-Series -> works like a charm!
eraser function is also working!
thanks for the topic!!

could someone please test repligo reader to see if the stylus responds to pressure sensitivity for the free hand drawing tool. what are people's thoughts or will developers have to completely redesign software for pressure sensitivity when annotating word files etc??

BRILLIANT..... That's the exact same Tablet PC I have (the T4210).
I've also got a small collection of different nibs for that pen. One is quite 'grippy' and gives a nice amount of resistance on the screen.

I tried... an possibly found a bug!
not only that it does not support pressure - it does not support drawing freehand with the pen at all!
You can draw freehand with the pen, but it does not stay on the screen. your drawing will disappear. if you draw with your finger it will stay.
line, rectangle, arrow - all is working with the pen... but freehand with the pen does not work.
someone can confirm?

I brought my intuos 4 pen to the Samsung store to test on the Note.
Didn't work

The note uses wacom bamboo technology doesn't it? Maybe worth trying those. I have an very old cheap wacom tablet, will give it a play later.
checked, no go.

Hi Guys
has anyone tried the pen for Fujitsu LifeBook T1000 series with the Galaxy Note

does it work ?

[Q] Bluetooth Stylus??

I recently bought a target stylus at Best Buy for 20$ and didn't find it to be as good as I thought it would be.
I was doing some research and I stumbled across this bluetooth stylus for the galaxy tab...
http://www.geeky-gadgets.com/samsung-galaxy-tab-bluetooth-stylus-29-09-2010/
Does anyone know if this would work with our a500?
Anyone have thoughts?

Did not find the specs, you want one for capacitive screen.
the stylus is capacitive, but there are sensors om the pen as well, transmitting data via bluetooth. This is why I want to know if it works, anyone can test this?
Pretty sure you'd need some driver or other software on the tab to understand the data coming from the stylus...
could I copy the drivers from the galaxy tab? I'm no dev but I think what I want to do is possible
Sure, if you can identify what the correct files are. You'll probably need some kind of IME from the tab, too.
I wouldn't have to edit a driver? Hmmmm like I said, I'm no dev but I'm good at copy and paste! Lol
I honestly don't know. You could always try one of the custom ROM's based on the tab...
We have a rom based on the tab?? Can you point me to it?
It's in the dev section. It's quite old though, might even still be a 3.0.1 version ROM...
Sweet... Thanks for the heads up. I also realized that I do not have a samsung galaxy stylus laying around lol.....
Anybody know of anybody else with a samsung galaxy stylus wanting to help me find out if this works??
This is just a stylus with a built-in Bluetooth handsfree or vice-versa if you so prefer. So Bluetooth technology in this accessory has nothing to do with character recognition, it's just for answering calls. So don't bother.
Anyway, Samsung never released it. They have released a Bluetooth-less version.
Sucks. I figured that out haha. Hmmmmm. I'm still seeking an inexpensive way to find decent handwriting via a stylus on my a500.... Any suggestions.
I'm on that quest too. Nothing good so far... iPad has much better options. uPad, for instance... I mean, software. As fow hardware, I was using a plain $3 rubber-tip stylus with a built-in ballpoint pen from China.
What about using the SAMSUNG Galaxy Note Stylus Touch S stylus with the Pen Holder Kit?
The Galaxy Note S Pen Stylus can only be used on a Galaxy Note and, perhaps, on an HTC Flyer. The tablet has to have certain touch screen hardware to be able to recognize input from such styli.
That's a pity. All the other stylii I've found or seen have to wide a tip for me to use drawing & writing apps.

I have used the bamboo stylus, alupen and a cheapo kensignton sylus I picked up at Staples (Can with a crappy pen on the other side too!)
All three are great for taking notes and such on the tablet.
I think the Bamboo has the smallest tip if you need the finer point.

Using an alternate (wacom) pen?

hi guys,
hopefully this thread is in the right place, if not i apologise!
I'm an artist, and one of the primary reasons for getting my note was the pressure sensitive stylus. after doing some research i found out that it was made by wacom, which is even more awesome.
now, wacom make their stylus's to have the pressure sensitivity built into the pen, and the tracking built into the pad/screen. so with that in-mind, i was wondering if it's possible (in theory) to use say... an intuos pen on a galaxy note, and benefit from the increased pressure sensitivity?
i'm aware, after trying it myself, that simply using the pen on the screen doesn't work... that's fine. so what kind of effort would it take to make it work? has anyone already got it working or even tried?
cheers!
Good post

Hi,
A similar thread exists and lists pens that are known to work and not work with our Notes, hopefully you can find your answer here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1339268
I use a Wacom pen from an old notebook I have, the Thinkpad X61T. I am not an artist however,I use it to take notes and the pressure sensitivity works really well. I would recommend that you download infinite painter from the market to see how well the pressure sensitivity works for drawing.
I tried a few Wacom pens with no luck, though I have heard of people getting good results. In the end, I just ponied up for the official S-pen holder kit, which is great. It's much easier to draw and write with the normal sized pen. IF you don't mind parting with the $50, it may be exactly what you're looking for.

thanks for the link, will take a look through it in a minute or so.
what i'm looking for is a boost in sensitivity. the s-pen only has something like 128 levels of sensitivity, my intuos has 2048 which is a huuuuge difference.
I try Cintiq pen,no luck.I heardthats works.

I believe only Wacom styli meant for Tablet PC's work with the Note. The Penabled kind.
I have tried the original Thinkpad X220 tablet pen and another Wacom Tablet PC pen (there are several variants available) and both work well with the Note. However, I have not noticed any difference between them and the original Note stylus.

[Q] Pens

Hi all,
does anyone know if the usual phone/tablet pens will work with the Nexus 7? I am assiming they do. Looking forward to taking notes on the Nexus 7 storing them in Evernote or Onenote.
Anyone have any advice on the best pens to buy?
Cheers,
Pete.
Yup, any capacitive stylus should work. I'm looking into some "fine tip" ones for handwriting/drawing.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Apparently the Adonit Jot Pro is meant to be really good for fine writing/drawing:
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/adonit-jot-pro-stylus-gun-metal-p31981.htm
The little plastic bit at the end of the pen can break easily though apparently and you have to order spares from the US.
But for now I have ordered the MediaDevil Magicwand which has masses of positive reviews on amazon:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0058DXA4W/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
If the Magicwand is no good I'll try the Adonit.

I have used the blunt ended ones and I really didn't like them. Perhaps a finer tipped one would be better? Especially for writing.
Here's a whole slue of them: https://www.google.com/search?sugex...f.,cf.osb&fp=7e9cda3a6f33f96&biw=1280&bih=899
I had my Mediadevil Magicwand delivered at the weekend and it works very very well on my Galaxy S3 using a Zagg screen protector. Slides very smoothly and writes nicely.
Obviously nowhere near as satisfying using a real pen on a real notepad but it does the job meaning I can now take notes and sync to Gmail Notes. Can't wait to try it out on the Nexus 7 when it comes.
I hope that C Pen for My Galaxy SIII would work fine with Nexus 7

Bamboo Stylus Feel... anyone tried it yet?

I've been waiting for reviews for this pen for a while. I don't see any third parties selling it yet either... I found one review, but it was in Japanese (which I can read) and wasn't very helpful in terms of the purpose I would be using it for. Particularly, the artwork...
I'm curious, is it really any different than the s-pen or is it just about the form factor?

I'm curious about it too. I currently have a Samsung ET-S200EBEGSTD S-Pen with eraser which works and feels great. Will the Bamboo Stylus Feel actually feel better than the Samsung branded S-Pens? I'll wait for those reviews as well.

I confirmed with Wacom, it has no eraser. Made me lose all interest.
I ordered 2 on the 7th. I got them yesterday. My wife is an artist and the Samsung stylus was to thin. She really likes the feel of it. Its really light though, and it feels like rough ceramic. I cant say that it writes better than the stock one. But it is easier to use. All they had was the white version that day. I do wonder if the $80 black carbon fiber pen would have been better. It has double the weight.
I need to use it a bit more before I can review it. Mainly because I put an anti-reflective screen protector on my tablet the day before.
Best Buy now has Bamboo Stylus
Titles says it all!
Ok, I was using it this morning after doing the OTA update. I didnt like it at all. I thought it might have been this matte screen protector. Just to double check, I grabbed my wifes Bamboo stylus and used it. It worked great! Mine was slow and didnt work half the time, but hers works better than the Samsung stylus. Now I have to figure out how to return mine. Its defective.
Using my wifes, there is something I didnt like about it. The button sits flush with the body and it feels the same. So its hard to find. I use it a lot because I have it set to erase.

This is where I got mine. Directly from the Wacom store.

Thanks for the link. I just ordered one. (White). I was gonna get the samsung based version, but this thickness might be perfect for. I hate how expensive they are. I wish they were half this price and then i could buy multiple pens.

Is setting the button to erase only for the Wacom stylus or can the stock s-pen do it as well? Care to share how? Thanks

Just to share, any Wacom Penabled (Tablet PC) stylus will work with the Note series. I have three from my Tablet PC days and they all work with my Note 10.1 and Note II. Search in Google or Amazon and you can find a large range of styles and prices.

The app you use has to have the option. The app I use most is Lecture Notes.
[Settings/handling/one time eraser] sets it to erase once after each time the button is pressed. Very handy.
I have noticed that the built in apps like SNote and Kno lack a useful setting menu. It would be nice if they gave us more options.

Work? Yes. Work well? Maybe. I have one from a slate, and it's about 1/4" off when writing. Too annoying to be useful. I'm not saying yours don't work well, I'm saying that not all penabled stylus will work well.
I have a bamboo create tablet and the pen for that thing does not work on either my Samsung 7 Series or my Note 10.1. The S7S pen do work on the Note 10.1 and visa versa tho. The eraser work as well; haven't tried the eraser on Sketchbook Pro tho.

Alternative stylus

Hi,
from images and videos about this device on web I have noticed that included stylus does not have any buttons, which is a bit disappointing for me as I am used to use stylus with as least 1 button (preferably 2 thou). Since the Yoga Book has wacom digitizer, could I use a stylus from my Intuos tablet? Or some other stylus with buttons?
Thanks

Not the thing I was hoping. I have Galaxy Note as well and those small styluses are just not for me.
Search for Bamboo Wacom stylus. I've got one that works with both my Galaxy Note 8 and the Yoga Book. I believe any Wacom stylus should work with the Yoga Book.
yes i think so, the technic is from wacom
i test one from my old windows convertible on the lenovo also the eraser works and the button
Hello,
i have test the stylus from my Windows "Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 260", it didn´t work
Hey,
thanks all for the comments. The stylus from Samsung Note series indeed works (Galaxy Note 10 2014 in my case) and quite well actually. Just for funsies I have ordered few cheap "replacement" styluses from china, will let you guys know how it turns out.
I have also tried stylus from my Intuos tablet which unfortunately did not worked at all - the bamboo stylus seams to be the way for Wacom styluses.

Hi
I have had the Yoga Book for 3 days and loving it. I have found that the pen from the Thinkpad Tablet 10 works fine, its much smaller and has a button. The button didn't appear to do much in my first quick test. However, if that pen works maybe the Samsung pens do too.
How about the galaxy note pen version which has also a headset function (S pen). Will it work?
Has anyone tried the Surface Stylus with one key and an eraser on top? I think that would be great if it's working with our yoga book!
I received this S Pen clone yesterday: http://www.ebay.de/itm/131721242167
It works, but triggers to early, so I have many ghost lines on my notes. It's not very usable. Maybe an original product will work better - but I'm not sure.
i tried cube i7 stylus(skylake)'s pen today. it works without pressure sensor so... meaningless. however backside button works as eraser. side button doesn't works. i owned android yogabook.

Hey,
me again. So the styluses from china just arrived - it took way longed than usually does thou . So I bought these two: http://www.dx.com/p/capacitive-scre...samsung-note-3-black-2pcs-412089#.WHOxTy_Qckk
To my surprise they work quite well including the button! Only on pad thou, you can not use them with screen (same as original note stylus). Also, the tip has a bit more resistance than original note stylus when pressed, which I like very much. There are like only 2 levels of pressure sensitivity so it is not for artists but for notes it just fine.
I picked up a Wacom Bamboo Smart Stylus and it works. But... there are some weird distorted spots where the point doesn't quite track right. There are about 5 scattered about the screen some of them are about 2 inches in from the edge of the screen. While it works, the distortions were enough to bring me back to the buttonless (ugh!) OEM stylus.
The original Surface Pro (gen 1) stylus works perfectly with the Android version of the Yoga Book.
You can get one here:
OEM Microsoft Surface Pro / Surface Pro 2 Bluetooth Wireless Stylus Pen

My main reason is to have a backup. I've read that the tip of the Yoga Book stylus insert is prone to breaking off when switching to an ink tip.
I would love to get a alternative Stylus with Gel or a little bit something softer. But thats not so important.
I'm a little bit worried, that there are no Stylus Tips (plastic) for the Real Pen are available. You get normally one with Pens from Microsoft
or Samsung. So I have to buy then a new Stylus?
Which Stylus is definitly and without any restrictions working?
Worst case, use a drained ball point tip. Should work fine. How fast do these Wacom tips tend to wear down?
