Not "all together" although yes, the review linked to Amazon is for a Class 2 card and the card in the OP is for a class 10.
*shrug*

i don't know, if you take a look at the picture closely it says something liek class 6 or class 8
not class 10 =/

I zoomed and sharpened the best I could and it looks like a class 4 on the card itself. But obviously I could be wrong, but it doesn't say class 10 on it

has anyone been able to find the Sandisk Micro SDHC card specs/speeds?

I just wanted to know the speeds of the SDHC cards, i wasnt sure how they compared to SD ultra II cards. I just havnt been able to find the specs anywhere so far.
When I bought my 4 GB sandisk SDHC I asked the salesman about speeds. He searched many places, even at the manufacturers homepage, without finding any specs. He sent a mail to sandisk, but I havent heard from him yet.
I'll tell you the results when I hear from him...
On the card itself, there should be a number in a circle. This number is the rated write speed of the card, in MB/second. This PDF from SanDisk should provide more detail.
All i know is that they are class 4 cards, and that they are much faster than regular sd, micro sd cards, but not as fast as USB 2.0 or firewire.
After reading the pdf, it appears that there is more than one class. My 6gb card says that it is a class 4, so it would transfer at 4mb/s.

hmm, well as long as the kaiser can take full advantage of that 4mb/s then that's pretty good.

i would logically think that it should be...i mean, if it can accept SDHC, then it will prob. be able to utilize it.
The 6GB and soon to be out 8GB cards are all currently "Class 4" which is 4mb/s; ScanDisc is the current leader in bringing Micro SD card technology to market and to this point there have been no indications there is a "Class 8" or higher in the immediate future.
4GB cards typically will be either "Class 4" 4mb/s or "Class 2" 2mb/s. If you see a really cheap 4GB card there is a good chance it is a Class 2, so be careful.

I don't know what BB has, but the 6gb I bought online a few weeks back is class 4. According to Sandisk's site, all their 6 gb cards are class 4, and all their 4gb's are class 2.

Amazon is selling a 2GB SD card for $40.85 where they claim:
Product Description
The Sandisk Mobile Premier microSD Memory Card offers all the benefits of a standard Sandisk microSD card plus higher performance and TrustedFlash technology for premium content storage on next generation phones. Write at 10MB per second and read 9MB per second for higher speeds to increase the functionality of your phone's storage capabilities. Listen to more songs, view & print more pictures and store more videos.
the link is:
http://www.amazon.com/Microsd-Premi...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1192552982&sr=1-6
many ppl are mistakening about what the classes refer to, there are 3 class 2, 4 and 6, this means the minimum write speed the micro sd can achieve, in other words, the class 4 and class 6 may not even be faster than a class 2.
I have te following and did a simple test using the hd tach.
toshiba 4GB class 4
sandisk 4GB class 2
sandisk 6GB class 4
all cards offer a write speed at just over 4MB/S
As for the read speed, both sandisk is about 11MB/s, whiles the toshiba is at 20MB/s
on the market apart from these, there are others, like kingston and eagletec (toshiba OEM), and may be some others.
kms
I go the 6GB sacndisk from Buy.com for 70$
It seams slow, when programs access the card it seams to stop for a second.
Like using it IE or attached files of email.
and finaly every this was gone, and format it again..

Anyone sourced a 16GB microSD class 4 or 6?

Looking for a 16GB microSD for the Hero.
Anyone sourced a class 4 or 6? or indeed, have you used a class 2 and happy with it?
many thanks all
I have a class 2 16gb in my G1.
Apps2SD and Swap runs fine (Using JacHeroSki Hero rom).
I don't see what the class thing is all about, applications run as speedy as if they were installed on the device itself.
http://www.lowpricememory.co.uk/Sandisk-16gb-micro-sd-memory-card.html
Only used the 2GB card Orange bundle with the phone, and am experiencing a bit of sluggish perfromance on the home screen occasionally - someones said that this is solved by a faster card but will have to wait and see - got one on order.
That link you have posted says 'Class 2' in the write up but the picture is 'Class 4'.
I looked at that earlier and that discrepancy put me off ordering it.

Yes it would. WE HAVE A WINNER, 1 class 6 16gb.
These are still quite expensive though, I'd be tempted just to stick with an 8gb class 6 (which I got for £11 GBP) and when I run out of space, then move up to the 16gb

yeah 16 GB too expensive for now for me, got an class 6 8GB card at £14 on order, as soon as the 16 GB cards are cheap enough I'll grab one, I can wait.
After much googling, I decided to get a class 2 from here:

It seemed the transfer rate was not that key on our devices, as class 6 was well above what the phone could manage.
It could all be nonsense and I end up getting another in a few weeks

My 16GB Nokia SDHC is playing videos with bitrate 2000+ & resolution 720x380 without any stutter.
I have almost 6GB full of videos only in my card.
I tried for a higher class card in 16GB, but not available in my place.
i am using kingston class 2 converted 1080p movies to 480X800 at highest qulity. no stutter whatsoever

He was specifically asking for the fastest card. Your card is the slowest. Class 2 is the slowest class you can get. It's not even sold anymore here in Japan. For the HD 2 I would recommend at least a class 6 card (6 MB/sec reading. The better ones are now rated as class 10.
SanDisk 16gb Class 2 exceed the speeds of asian branded class 6 cards such as Transcend and Adata etc.
I would get a Sandisk Class 2 16gb card over other higher class cards.
Only better one at the moment is 16gb Class 4 SanDisk which exceeds class 10 speeds.

Just because it is Class 2 does not mean it is the slowest!
The Sandisk Class 2 performs well above the majority of class 2 cards and even some class 6-8 cards.
The 2 only means it guarantees that speed.
I've seen some class 6 cards just reach 7mb/s, so this class 2 would run the spots off it. I've got a Sandisk 16gb Ultra Class 4, its quite fast but you need to consider the fact that the phone won't use it to its max potential, only 8mb/s limit i think
From what i hear the class definition only is a guarantee for write speeds.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital#SD_Speed_Class_Ratings
"SD Cards and SDHC Cards have Speed Class Ratings defined by the SD Association. The SD Speed Class Ratings specify the following minimum write speeds based on "the best fragmented state where no memory unit is occupied":[8]"
I've got a Sandisk micro sdhc 16 Gg. It's only a class 2, but i should say that it is pretty fast and I never had any trouble with it. Fast and safe.
I find it better than the Transcend or Kingston SD I tried.
I hope we can soon have a micro sdhc 32 Gb

Thanks for the very helpful reply.
Did you get all of your 21 posts by helping people out with this sort of useful info?
Thanks to the folk who have actually posted useful stuff though...
I see the Sandisk Class 2 16gb one on Amazon and other sites for about £30 - which seems pretty good. I found another thread comparing speeds of cards, and it seems the HD2 can't write or read any faster than the equivalent of a class 2 anyway.
I think the Sandisk Class 2 will do for the moment - the 32gb ones are due out anytime soon... so theres no point in lashing out £60 for a high spec 16gb when a 32gb will be round the corner.

ouch..£52.99 is a bit steep to justify when a similar spec standard sd is less than half that price..I can't help wondering whether there's any real benefit from a card with this performance level that's detectable in normal use, after all,the ammount of data that will be required at any point in time surely wont exceed the displays capacity even while using a lower spec card? Yes the snapdragon can process huge ammounts of data quickly but it's still going to be limited ,by the ammount of it,it can show or am I talking round hairy things? I've seen a similar debate on a forum dedicated to sat navs but never found, myself, any difference between using cl2 or cl6 cards as far as speed in the processing and displaying of information upon a screen goes...anyone care to enlighten us?
I have been using Sandisk Class 2 16GB cards for a while now, 3 pcs on separate devices and I can say it is fast and safe. Fully compatible with the HD2. I also have a 16GB Kingston Class 6 and it is about 20% of the Sandisk speed when writing. Way too slow even though it's rated as Class 6. Go figure.

Micro SD Cards

Ok, so I know this is a topic that has been really over-discussed, but I really can't seem to find very much good information online, so I turn to my most trusted authority...XDA with a few questions...
I currently have what I believe is a genuine Sandisk 16 GB Class 2 microSD card. And from reading in the forum - I realized when I upgraded (in the meantime I reverted back...) to CM 7.0.3 I had serious lag issues, and I understood from different posts that it was because I needed to upgrade the class of my SD card. In the interim, I've purchased a Sensation 4G (which I have yet to receive - but expect to have by Wednesday). I know this phone comes with an 8GB card - I'm just not sure of the class - but assuming that the phone records HD video - they should have the sense (no pun intended) to provide at least a class 4 SD card right?
Here's the thing. It's really hard to understand - even from reputable stores, which SD cards are real and which are fake.
General questions:
1) Why do some cards have their class marked on them and some don't? What does this mean?
2) There is no standard look to SD cards even from the same company. How can I know where to buy a real one?
I already got burned by eBay - so I'm not going down that route again - but even NewEgg and Amazon (where I bought this card from and am happy with...even though I'm no longer sure it's even real. I downloaded an app that's supposed to test read/write speed and authenticity - and it didn't say Sandisk, so now I don't know...Despite being a class 2 card with write speeds of higher than 6 MB... so I really am confused. I'm assuming a fake card would cheap out on quality...)
While I always prefer to pay a bit more for the best - and from what I can see there is no consensus regarding any SD cards besides Sandisk/Toshiba/Samsung, however - there are no SD cards from any of these brands to be found online for purchase with a class higher than 4 - besides class 10 that costs somewhere in the vicinity of $100 (which I am currently unwilling to pay).
1) Is there no Sandisk Class 6 or 8 card?
2) Why can't I find them anywhere if so?
3) What is known about companies such as Kingston/PNY/Lexar/Transcend - what I've seemed to find is that the good reviews are great - but the bad ones are REALLY BAD. Do I want to chance getting a lemon and losing something as precious as photographs??
4) What about reputable companies that aren't necessarily known for their memory/SD card strengths but other areas - Duracell, HP, Panasonic, Nokia?
5) Would I be better off downgrading to a smaller card with a higher class? (i.e. 8GB Class 10?)
I'm really confused - any and all help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks!!

There is no way to tell a fake one from a real one by just looking at it. to be safe, buy one from a brick-and-mortar store, where it is easily returnable. Don't buy it online unless it is from a well established retailer like Newegg.

It depends!
I have been using a 16GB Transcend Class 6 card, for the past two years or so, and have had zero issues with it.
I also have a 16 GB SanDisk Class 2 card (although I don't use it in my Nexus One), and again, I have had zero issues with it.
I certainly would not put any faith in reviews on Amazon, etc. If anything, I would look at a reputable tech review site like tomshardware.com or anand-tech.com. Otherwise, buy and try, and if you are not happy, return it.
Wow! Major thanks for that reply! Was very helpful!

Micro SDHC Cards Listing - Like a Boss :D

So in response to my previous thread on the DVP and if it would work for me I'd like to thank everyone for their insightful thoughts options and most of all answers.
Now my next question, Micro SDHC card choices. And again, answers are the preferred responses but thoughts and options would be fantastic.
I am going to add to and edit together a list of Micro SDHC Cards on here for people to reference for the future.
Firstly, I already own this card but have yet to try it with a DVP. Anyone here with experience or can at least validate the technical specifications as having a chance at working, let me know.

I bought a 32Gb Lexar Class 10 Micro SDHC, and not only it works, my dvp seems to run quite faster than before.
You can find about the card itself here
AMAZON LINK (EU)
Can anyone try this one? It would be great to have 64GB of storage...

How's your class 10 card holding up?
Micro SDXC has a completely different specification From Micro SDHC. Remember when Micro SDHC came out, older devices that were made to use jus Micro SD wouldnt read them, same issues with the DVP and those SDXC cards.

Are you sure? Not a chance? That pretty much kills my expectations...
Oh well, we'll wait for the next phone with physical portrait keyboard and SDXC compatibility
Wish we can get a little more feedback on this.
Does anyone know if we can go back to the old card if the new one doesn't work out? Is it just a matter of popping the old one back in the sd slot?
I know what u mean. Msoft said tha tthe Windows Phones would be the next generation Zune Players, but coming from a Zune80, a phone shipping with 8 - 16 gbs of storage is pathetic. I have 60 gbs of music, what am i supposed to do with a 8 gb DVP?
Thank goodness the DVP is somewhat easy to upgrade to 32gigs. At the very least msoft should give u the ability to stick two Micro sdhc cards in a phone, mux it together and create a 64gb pool of storage.
tried lexar 16GB class 10?
I got a SanDisk 16 class 4, its been doing fine then it got stuck at whatsapp then the phone goes into a loop of restart and cut off.
The only way to fix it was to recover the phone.
so I need a new card for my phone, I see that the lexar 32Gb class 10 is good for this phone but don't want to go up to 32GB, has anyone tried the 16GB version? Would it come out with the same results ?

Heard there were two patches, one is a renaming of a class 2 to class 4 and another is the newer where its different class 4.
I guess I got the bad batch.....
I recently got a DVP. It shipped with a 16GB Sandisk class 4, which worked fine for a few days until my 32GB Sandisk class 4 arrived, which also has no problems at all.
Watch out for fake Sandisk cards, apparently they are out there.
Yeah it should work just fine that 16gb class 10. A little fyi, i bought that 32 gb sandisk (no 4) Working fine so far.
Once the speed is class 4 and over and there are no bad memory areas on the card u'll be fine no matter the size.
