good buy? - Atrix 4G General

about to buy this phone. Mint condition, locked from AT&T i suppose. Seller want $250 but i can negotiate down to $200. Is it a good idea? It just a phone + charger + hdmi cable and case.
Thanks for the help. Im using the Nexus One right now.

I recommend buying the phone if you can get an upgrade at a lower price at the phone store. But, spending $250 dollars on a phone when the galaxy nexus is around the corner is not a smart idea.
I will be getting the galaxy nexus when it comes out.

I think this is a good buy. The Atrix is in a peculiar situation right now. It is not the best phone on the market and with Galaxy Nexus coming out, it'll be inferior and it may not get stock Ice Cream Sandwich. However, it is easily one of the best phones out, and it's specs are comparable with that of Galaxy SII. It also has a fingerprint scanner (which is so amazingly convenient and works wonders) and the webtop hack is pretty useful.
Most importantly, it is cheap and future proof. You cannot buy ANYTHING comparable for under 400 dollars. With its specs you'll be able to use it and be happy with it easily for 1-2 years. With the great developer support, hopefully we'll be able to flash ICS based rom. This is a great phone to have and its under-appreciated by the general market.
Buy it. Root it. Unlock it. Flash Aura or CM7 with Faux kernel and you won't be disappointed. Then just go ahead and upgrade in 1-2 years when your cellular contract is up for extension.

Agree with lilhyper.
I went through a torrent of phones before at&t decided to early upgrade me, and it hasn't disappointed me.
While technically inferior, consider the fact that technology becomes inferior literally overnight. What matters is if it can handle your demands. It handles mine, and I brutalize hardware.
200 is a steal unless you have an upgrade soon, then wait for that and get a newer phone.

Hi all, need suggestion about to buy this phone.
But compare to O2x,which one is the best? Though i like to play games, and some say that atrix doesn't support more than two point of multitouch and has poor frame rate.
Please advise.
Thanks

i can upgrade with AT&T with a free HTC Inspire. Is that better or worst compare to this Atrix 4G?

I bought mine for $180 from some chick who had just gotten the 4s

For starters, do your own research.
Atrix is a better phone imho because it's a dual core phone with more memory, a front facing camera, higher screen resolution, and bigger battery.
Inspire is bigger with 4.3" screen instead of the Atrix's 4". However, it comes in at a lower resolution, is a single core phone, and the battery life is worse.

We had 2 Atrix's and the wife recently moved to the Inspire.
I had used it previously.
She wants to swap back.
The Inspire is a good solid phone. If you like a larger screen it was a great choice. The Atrix 2 would be an alternative now.
Personally I am sticking with the Atrix, does everything I need. For me 4 inch screens are about the sweet spot with phones . I have a tablet for browsing and a laptop for work so prefer this form factor.

Try another store. You should not have to change data plans they do not expire as long as you are paying for them.
As said just swapped the wife's phone without having to.

Look in the market place here. There are a few for sale or trade. $300 is too steep for a good used one, you should be able to get one closer to $200 easily.
I just traded mine our I would have given you a good deal on it.
Best of luck to you.

New phone trade in...

Hey guys, I've been wondering about something recently. Does anyone know sprint's policy on phone exchanges? Basically, I have an epic and this is my 3rd replcement phone which is STILL going crazy. I was wondering since this is my 3rd phone should I try waiting till the nexus s 4g comes out to replace with that since its a "similar phone"? Or should I just exchange now for whatever? Thanks
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
slim and no chance of exchanging it for a nexus imho. they will just change it out for another epic
Its like a crazy number of replacements before they will give you a new one, let alone upgrade. Doesn't hurt to tty though. I have better luck when calling
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
What I would do is go ahead and take it in and get a replacement. Hopefully the next one won't go all crazy on you. Then, if you really want the Nexus S, when it comes out, sell your Epic and use that money to put towards the Nexus.
There is no comparable replacement to the Epic (yet), so you'll keep getting Epics if they are exchanged. Nexus S will not be comparable.

Doesn't matter... Sprints not going to just give you one of there next top phones to replace an older supposed top of the line that did live up to its potential. Not with out a fight at least.
As one of the other relies stated it takes a lot of trade ins before they would offer you a different phone.
It took me 8 Treo 800w's(3 in one visit) and about a weeks worth of calling customer services and retentions before they finally gave me a Treo Pro as a replacement.
They even wanted me to use my early upgrade about a month early. I did get to stick of to them a month later... used my upgrade to get the Pre(lol) and sold the Pro for 300$.

Possible buy..

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a att branded Nexus S, found one on Craigslist for $300..
I think its a fair price, Guy is local and I'm tired of my Inspire.
Reasons I would like to buy it, smaller screen size, pure aosp, battery life...
I just got the inspire about 3 months ago and will more then likely keep it..
What are things I should look for to make sure it is the real deal or just in general?
Any help is appreciated honestly.
I know I could wait for something better to come out ina few months but I don't use my phone for gaming, just purely alot of web browsing, texting and surfing forums..
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
Only advantage to the Inspire is screen size. I have owned a Inspire and currently own a NS4G and I like both, but Nexus is smooth. When I buy phones I really just check cosmetic and play with it and check about phone to see what its on and browse the interwebs for a few.
Make sure it is truly the i9020a version and not the i9020t or some other variant. Otherwise it isn't truly the AT&T phone (would not work with 3G otherwise).
What should the about read besides 2.3.4 which kernal is stock etc and thanks for the replies guys keep then coming please

Nexus S phones do not have the carrier branding. Only Samsung and Google in the back.

Get the IMEI # and call att check it. If he wont give it to you then move on! Gsm phones don't have esn they take sims and you could end up with a stolen phone and not even know it. I know here in Austin they are going for less than what that guy is asking. Just seen a white one for $260 and it was squeky clean.

The AT&T nexus s is only $99 on contract, so $300 for LBNIB isn't sketchy--but the white ns for $260 kind of is. I say meet with the guy if you like the price, inspect for damages and all accessories, then stick your sim in and wait for that 3G or H symbol to pop up. Also make test calls and take pics to ensure speakerphone/mic/camera/etc. is working.
I just bought a LBNIB for $325, so $300 is a good deal imo.

So I just talked to him again, he sent the pictures like he said he would, sweet baby jesus she looks fine! lol
Turns out the reason he mentioned his friend was because they are old business partners and the actual seller wouldn't be able to meet me in person, because he would be at work, so he is going to give the phone to his friend, who he trusts to meet up with me.
I didn't ask the guy where he worked but his friend works downtown here and it's not to far for me, so hopefully all goes well..

[Q] Need to Replace Epic... With What?

My wife and I both have Epics, but she's dropped hers enough times now that the screen is totally cracked and it will need to be replaced... Rather than pay to repair it, I'd rather replace it... But with what? What's the best thing since sliced cheese that's available (or will be available shortly) for Sprint? Looking at the current stock of available Sprint phones, I might be inclined to go with the Galaxy S II / Epic 4G Touch if it weren't for the fact that I'm so unhappy with Samsung's dismal support for the Epic...
So what does everyone recommend? Is there something coming out just over the horizon that we should hold out for?
If you need something now, nothing.
But if you can wait a bit, the galaxy nexus should be coming to sprint.
The gs2 has better specs (sans screen) but the nexus is guaranteed to get updates unlike our epics

Epic 4g for sale

Just found out I'm eligible for my upgrade so I'm thinking its time for the S3.
I was thinking of listing my Epic with what ever rom you want on it
16gb memory card
Sedio case. Zagg shield on the front.
4 batteries. Oem 1500. Oem 1800. Crappy 1500. Brand new as of Friday Anker 1800
I'm thinking 120 would be decent for that and I can cover shipping in the US cause I got a hook up.
The goal here is paypal. That way I can buy the new phone right away and move my account over cause this is my work phone. I can't afford to be with out it for a day.
Any opinions. Under the shell the thing looks brand new.

Is the HTC unlocked? Sell it on eBay and buy the nexus. But honestly, it's not worth it the nexus is somewhat of a downgrade. My bro has a one and the screen and speakers alone are a lot better. Plus, 16gb does suck I have 10 GB of music and I don't like to stream because T-Mobile doesn't have the best signal when I'm driving around town. And if you don't like sense put cm on the phone. The developer edition comes out soon so vanilla Roms should be bug free and updates will be on par with Nexus 4

Sell the one on eBay or clist or swappa. Then buy the nexus off of eBay or the playstore. I think a new nexus is about 350 or so. A HTC one used is about 450 to 500 I'm guessing. The point is that a bad deal on your side. The nexus has been out for about a year and the one for about a month. The nexus can be boght brand new at a cheaper rate then the one.

honestly i just wanted to try something different and the nexus looks pretty bad ass to me i just like the over all design. i am not all up to date on specs and features so im not going in very educated to this trade thats why i came here i like the htc and all but i really have always sort of had a thing for nexus phones. so just keep the htc is the vibe im getting? what phone WOULD be worth trading the htc one for? im always looking for something new...smh
Nexus 4 has a bad photo camera.
No full LTE support.
No extSD.
but has much better software cos it's vainilla/aosp Android with Google binaries that are supported on AOSP without issues.
The Nexus 4 hardware would be a downgrade. How about you flash your H1 to aosp instead? Then you would have the same software as the nexus.
