Galaxy Nexus - Member-Found Deals

Hey fellows !
If any of you are really eager for the Galaxy Nexus here is something I found - expensive, but worth a shot if you got the cash.
Again, I or anyone at XDA team is NOT responsible for this deal, and I don't know the seller - so at your own risk !
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brand-New-S...0840206425?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item3f0f559459

It's for a pre-order. Essentially he will order the phone when everyone else can and then ship after he gets it.
How is this a deal?

Erm, Verizon, I'm with Sprint. I might get an iPhone 4S instead but I'll see. So any of you think it was worth the 2 week delay?

Wow, not really much going on for the 1st day imo. Nothing much on anything coming soon, like in the next few weeks.
I'm sitting on my atrix which is in its box on the fridge waiting to hear of something coming soon on att. Guess I will just return it and get my $ back.
I've been waiting for news on the sgs2 our the samsung infuse. Maybe tomorrow our wed hopefully.
What are your thoughts.

I'm also really interested in hearing about the Samsung Galaxy S II and the Samsung Infuse. Hilariously enough, I went to an AT&T store to get a new SIM for my iPhone 4 so I could give it to my mom, and I asked an employee working there who had a little Samsung badge on his belt if he knew anything about the Infuse's release date. "Samsung Infuse? Never heard of it."
I was at CTIA today. HTC guy said they were going to announce a dual core phone today...Never heard about it. Suppose it's the Pyramid. The booth guy really didn't know very much.
Did go by the Motorola booth and jokingly complain about the Skype, Fake 4G, and other things. The guys just all grinned and blamed it on AT&T.
Galaxy S II no one at the booth would say anything about when it was coming to US.
Playstation phone was nice. Got to see an Arc (from an ericsson guys pocket) it was nice but kind of meh.
All in all I agree I have sore feet and not much else to show for my efforts.
If I had been feeling particularly malicious I would have connected my phone straight to a HDMI cord sans dock and showed the Moto guys what's been done to the phone, but I didn't.
I had the best time at the Nokia booth though. People were really friendly, and down to earth. Had a grea time chatting with a booth guy that was really knowledgeable and we both decided we hope the best comes out of the WP7 deal. I tried to get him to open up about a new "Meego" type phone but he just smiled.
Tomorrow is my last day to return the Atrix and I guess I'm keeping it.
See I had to pay full 535 for it and it just rankles me that I at times feel due to the various issues I'm not getting nor will get the full moneys worth.
Buyers remorse from too much time reading forums I guess.

Me too, same dilemma. I want a SGS II SO bad, but no idea when its being released is so off-putting. i can't wait around in limbo for 2, 3, 4 months. I paid full price for my Atrix as well and am contemplating returning it or not. I'll only get $495 of the $530 i paid though back ($35 re-stocking fee). Hoping CTIA would bring me a reason to take it back, but unfortunately nothing yet.
Well I rationalize that since. I love the phone even with all its flaws I'll enjoy it as is.
Work pays for my base phone bill & data plan so it's like getting the phone for free.

[Q] OT: Do you keep your smartphones?/ Future Classics?

Hi Guys,
Bit of an off topic thread with regards to the nexus 4, but ive been thinking about this for a while now.
Do you guys believe that certain smartphones will be worth money in the future? In say, 20 or 30 years? I ask this because i recently packed away my nexus one in its original box with all the original parts and its completely mint. I also just bought a Nexus 4 so was thinking of selling my old Samsung S2 which i love. Its been a brilliant phone to me so i dont really want to part with it, however, seeing as samsung sold the s2 in their millions it probably wont ever be worth much in the future.
What are your thoughts on things like this? Do you sell your phones straight away or box them up with the original packaging? Can you see them being worth much in the future.
Would love to hear your thoughts on this guys!
Jim
I keep all my old phones, and have the boxes too. But I don't think they will hold any future value.
Maybe for historical reference but I suppose there are collectors for everything. I now sell my previous phone or pass it to my gf or other family member. Still have my Nokia 7650 in a drawer somewhere, it was my first smartphone.
I don't keep any of my phones after I'm done with them. The reason being was when I was younger I only got a new phone when the old one broke (which happened a lot since I skateboarded with it in my pocket). Now, I sell it to fund my next phone purchase. The only phone I actually kept was my HD2, but I let my little sister borrow it and I haven't seen it since. I plan on keeping the Nexus 4 though if the next Nexus is just as cheap.
I keep a lot of my phones for me mostly

Only reason I haven't sold my Galaxy Nexus is so I can use it as a back up just incase something happens to my N4, otherwise I pretty much sell my old phones just to get some money out of it.
Good stuff!
I guess we'll have to wait a good few years to find out whether certain phones have any collectable value or not.
Still undecided on whether to sell my S2 or keep it
I sell mine, but did keep one: the StarTac!

These phones won't hold any value. They are way too common to do so. The most money you'll get for a phone is if you sell it right before the next generation is released. After that, it'll probably take 70 years before the phones are so scarce as to have value again.
Like one of the other posters I sell my phones to help fund my next phone. I used to keep a backup, but I realize I'm just better off buying a new phone or a used phone, as in either situation I'll end up both ahead financially, and in terms of technology.
I would've kept the G1 since it was the first Android phone, but traded it in for the HTC Radar during the Windows Phone Challenge promotion. My G2 got stolen. Keeping the MyTouch 4G Slide as a backup phone in case I need one.
Even if you want to sell it at a high value, I think it has to be in brand new condition or something like that.
I have my G1 and my N1 (which I'm using now while I wait for my N4) just because they were the first android and nexus line. But I have sold everything else. Sold Nexus S, S2, and Galaxy nexus (wish I would have held on to this a little longer until I actually had the N4 though).
I get an upgrade.
My wife gets the older phone.
My 7 yo son either breaks, wets or eventually takes over that device just as I'm upgrading again.
Still have my 6260 Nokia. Was playing with it the other week and wow, talk about laaaaag.

Unless your phone has the fruit logo on the back, the answer is no.
I have seen original iPhone going as high as 1000 on ebay recently (the phone was still sealed in box though). You need somewhat a cult for people to overvalue something as common as today phones and electronics.
The gold and precious metals would go up in value over time and make it worth more to recycle maybe

I keep mine as mint as possible and sell them on to pay for their replacement.
No point having tons of phones kicking about.

Hey guys im in a predicament and need some advice.

Hey XDA. I recently got my nexus 4 stolen around the 3rd of December. I immediately called my insurance company (Asurion since I'm on tmobile) and they told me that they would place the phone on backorder. Well it's been over a month tat I've been without a phone and neither Asurion nor tmoile know when they will be receiving more nexus 4's. Asurion offered me a Galaxy S3 in place of my nexus 4. I know the galaxy is a very powerful smartphone on par with the nexus but I still enjoyed my nexus. I don't know if I should take the galaxy s3 or wait unti god knows when to get my nexus back?
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.
On par? No. The U.S. version is dual core and the phone is over 6 months old. Although, you could sell it and use the money to buy direct from Google.

I would take it sell it and buy a nexus 4 from eBay. You'll never get one from Google

"On par"? Honestly? Not even close in my book but hey, to each his/her own, right?
I personally wouldn't accept the deal. But if you're desperate, and I mean REALLY desperate, do as the others suggest: take the S3, sell it and buy an N4 on eBay or Craigslist. (Buyer beware.)
Expect to pay the Piper $450-550 for an N4... Good luck.

Just Been Offered....

OK not sure if I will get burnt at the steak for posting this, but a friend of mine is looking for a android. He has a unlocked IPhone 5. Not sure on memory. Think it could be a 16gb.
He wants my N4. Is it worth it.
My first idea is to swap it and sell the iPhone and just buy a new N4.
I have also said why not sell the IPhone 5 and buy one but he can't be bothered with the hassle off selling his.
What you all think.

Definitely swap. iPhones are far more valuable than Nexuses, you should theoretically be able to make an easy profit from this.
Flip that stuff man make yourself like a hundred buck profit and get a new n4 out of the deal

Make the swap, the bottom line is always cash. You get a phone that is worth a lot more IF it's ok. Sell it, buy another N4 and have some spending money.
Depends on how well you like this friend and how much your time is worth to you. Yes, you would probably make a profit by selling the iphone, but how much? If you sell on ebay, then your profits will be lower. Plus I don't know what condition the iphone is in. I've heard the anodized aluminum doesn't hold up well.
If you have your N4 setup and working the way you want it to, then I suggest keeping it. If it were me, I'd just help my friend sell his iphone.
IPhone 5 is like 700$ new off contract....

Firstly, check how much that iPhone with comparable capacity, condition, etc is selling for on your local craigslist page.
That will tell you how much you will realistically get for that phone.
You also have to factor in wait time. How long will you be without a nexus? Is whatever potential profit worth that time, risk, and effort?
Up to you, just do your research. Good luck.
if you are broke then sure why not but if you are not broke then why waste your time?
sell your device wiped and back to stock for your friend plus taking in the iphone means down time from your google eco system,
to me this would be more of a headache and a nuisance than a possible measly 100 dollar profit.
you have to wait for someone to buy the phone
then meet and sell it
then go buy another one
wait for the new one to arrive
then setup and download all your apps again
recustomize phone to your liking and set all apps back to what they were before
overall just seems more of a pain in the butt than anything
Make it into a Barter Kings episode..... turn your Nexus into a Lexus.....it may take a few trades but you can do it.
I did that only with a iPhone 4 and a HTC Desire HD. LOL. At the time i was going to get the SGS2 anyways so i traded the HTC Desire HD for the iPhone then bought the SGS2 for $550 and was happy with still $50 in the pocket.

Is the N4 worth buying at this time?

Hey all, been rocking a Galaxy Note for about six months or so after unloading an iphone. Very pleased with my Note...love the screen size...but have to admit it's large size can be a bit of a hindrance at times. Have been seriously considering switching to a Nexus 4 which is what I originally wanted but was back ordered for too long. Problem is I'm torn on picking up what I believe is a great phone versus waiting another 6 months for the Nexus 5. I know the SG4 and HTC One are coming soon, but I have to admit, I really want stock Android without all the extra features which I find useless. Basically, is the N4 still worth purchasing? Or is it a foolish move this late in the cycle?
Thanks!
Htc One, not a major inovation.
Galaxy S4- they ran out of ideas.
I think the Nexus is still worth it, especially now, when its price went down a bit.
I was actually in a close situation about 2 weeks ago. I was basically up to get a new phone and was looking around for what to get. I wanted the Nexus 4 since launch, but my impressions of AT&T (the only provider in my area that is GSM) weren't good and I wanted to stick with Verizon. After months of waiting, I finally narrowed it down to waiting for the Galaxy S4 and signing a contract with the (again, opinion) superior service provider Verizon or switching to AT&T and staying off-contract with the cheaper phone with comparable specs. There was also the possibility of waiting for the next Nexus to come out (Nexus 5?) when it does.
Well, I decided on the Nexus 4 on AT&T and haven't looked back. I couldn't be happier. As far as Nexus 4 vs Galaxy S4 and HTC One is concerned, I am more than happy with my decision. The hardware is amazing, but the main reasons I'm so happy is the vanilla Android and the community. I love how Google really doesn't care about rooting and modding (it's like 1 or 2 commands in a command window to unlock the bootloader, that's awesome). Then there are forums like this that help you with stuff. Yeah, there are Galaxy S3 sections and they are helpful, but I just feel that the Nexus 4 forums are....I dunno...more friendly? more helpful? I don't know how to put it, but I just like the community better.
Now on the debate of getting a Nexus 4 now or waiting for the next one to come out. I actually liked being 6 months into the release. That way, you avoid back-order issues, and everyone has had time to develop and fix issues with ROMs and whatnot. 6 months in, all you have to do is read a "Nexus 4 101" sticky thread and they have step by step instructions for completely customizing/flashing/etc. it. I will probably continue waiting 6 months after release to buy a new Nexus phone for those two reasons.
Well there's my two cents. Feel free to consider it.
Thanks guys. Appreciate the insights.
Johmama, sounds like we're in very similar situations. After giving up on the N4 and going with the Note a few months ago, I made the switch from Verizon to Straight Talk. While it's not perfect service, it's 1/3 the monthly bill which allows me to forgive the occasional issue. That also is why I'm strictly debating N4 vs. N5 now. The purchase price of the Nexus line makes it very affordable compared to $650+ for the other options. Basically, by the time I unload my Note and accessories, it should be a pretty even swap, so cost isn't an issue. Just wanted to know if the device is still considered a smart buy. Seems like most are more than happy with it, so I think I'll make the jump.
Again, thanks for the help.
I came from the DNA, and was planning on just keeping this till ONE is released, but I'm keeping it. Sure I miss the screen size a bit, but I love this phone and am thinking I'm only gonna be a Nexus guy from now on. Its worth it. Also having good dev support is way cool

I just got my phone couple weeks ago cause I got a fabulous day on Craigslist. Full well knowing the HTC One is coming out I could easily sell this for a profit but decided this phone is not $300 less of a phone then the HTC One.
