[Q] Ideos S7 Slim recovery - Ideos S7 General

I am a bit confused atm since I cannot find a definite answer relating to the S7 Slim and nandroid.
Is there a nandroid image that works on the S7 Slim, or is there another way I can get nandroid running on this device?
I have read a lot of threads, but ultimately they all end up with the S7 and ignore the S7 Slim.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

im not so sure if that will help u, but i reflash s7 slim using recovery flash from sd card, but with rom for that pad and u need to have rom nr S7-201uxxxxxxxxxxx if i remember any other ill just not work.

Thanks for the reply!
So you just place the image on the root or your SD card, but how do you enter any form of recovery to flash the image?

First you need to do some recommended reading to understand how this awkward system of flashing from heimdall and the various recoveries.
This explains what can happen to your tab should you mess up.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133590
This explains how to revive your tab from that mess if it is possible. Also shows you how heimdall works.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=967175
Finally, this shows you how ClockworkMod Recovery works. To get to CWM Recovery on the galaxy tab hold volume up and the power button.
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile...-and-how-to-use-it-on-android-complete-guide/
This should give you an idea of what can go wrong and how to fix it. Read carefully because you can disable your device to a point where you can't fix it and will have to send it to somebody who can.
Now there are two ways you can proceed from where you are at:
Flash a rom that doesn't have assert problems in the version of ClockworkMod Recovery that you have installed.
or
Directly flash a recovery and kernel from heimdall.
The easier and safer route is to just flash one of the roms that can be flashed from your CWM Recovery. This one will give you a working MIUI rom and CWM Recovery 5. Just follow the instructions from the CWM Recovery tutorial I posted and the instructions from this link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1365089
The second route will give you experience on heimdall. Recoveries can be flashed using a recovery.bin and a ZImage file in heimdall. This will let you put CWM Recovery 5 on your tab no matter what rom is installed on it. Unfortunately the zImage kernel is not compatible with the stock rom so once you install this you will only be able to start the device into CWM Recovery.
http://cl.ly/AGBB - CWM Recovery 5 recovery.bin & zImage
To install fire up heimdall after reviewing the directions from the return to stock/heimdall tutorial and put recovery.bin in the recovery slot and zImage in the kernel slot.

If it truly is hard bricked, I've had Josh resurrect my Samsung captivate using the jtag service. And Adam offers his own unbrick service. Both are excellent. Good luck!
[EDIT]Sorry, I just noticed this link was already referenced above...[/EDIT]

May be a downgrade or upgrade is required for it to work perfectly...
I got mobile tech videos to help me out got their unbrickable mod and jtag. Got it back today and loaded cyanagonmod 9 nightly loaded on it now working great. Still got to play around with it some more its all different.just glad I was able to resurrect its like a new tablet now.

Cant install custom recovery or root

Hey guys
So i got my galaxy s5 yesterday after my phone contract and because my previous phone was an a3 and there is no custom roms for this i was looking forward to getting my s5 and rooting, getting a custom recovery, custom rom etc but no matter what i do i cant get the custom recovery to boot thus meaning i cant root either every time i try and flash TWRP, CWM or philz it simply goes to a screen where i get the 'recovery is not seandroid enforcing' or something along those lines and then i get a blank screen and have to do a battery pull, i can get into the main system alright but just have no luck whatsoever getting into recovery does anyone have any suggestions? it is a SM-G900F and its a European edition if that helps at all
Thank You in advancew!

Thought Id throw you a reply until some proper answers find you, since I have the same phone but model g361f and the lack of support/development atm drives me mad, my old phone was rooted awesomeness but have to use this, its gift from girlfriend:laugh:Anyway, Forgive me if Im wrong here, just a quick suggestion for you, just going through the ordeals of softbricking myself into the early hours until i succeed myself so I stand to be corrected.
backing up firmware rooted is possible easily I know, but for non root, you can install a custom recovery cant you, so id look into path of using that for some online backup nandroid etc. If you cant get custom recovery forgive me,just my 2 cents edit* just read there having unlocked bootloader may be factor and CWM recovery may not be able to backup fully non rooted, no help at all I know Im sure someone will have a concise option for you,
Personally Id jus titanium backup my data and go for the root head on, but Im here bootlooping because my recovery is not seandroid enforcing,if it had a throat id enforce its seandroid alright and strangle it until it boots, so be safe rather than sorry right?, Im sure its easily done, backing up stock firmware compared to backing up your phones data, if there isnt much difference in terms of what you want to preserve, then just go for it if you mess up just install clean stock rom and restore backup. Good luck anyway

I suggest you look at the guides https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/q-a-the-ultimate-oneplus-2-guide-solutions-e-t-c.358089/. It can guide you through the process of installing a custom ROM , or maybe how to flash old firmware.

I-9505G, planning to install Optimized Lineage OS 14.1, few questions

Hello folks,
I rooted my Galaxy S4 Play Edition (I9505G) a while ago and it is still on baseband version I9505GUEUDNL3 (Build number, LRX21P.S012.141205, android version 5.0). In all honesty, I do not remember all the things went in rooting but I do remember, I used Odin. I don't remember if I installed recovery like TWRP (but when I boot into recovery, it boots regularly with all command line prompts and stuff).
I didn't install ROM at that time because I was playing around with my old Motorola XT910 and while I could install CyanogenMod, the performance of the phone was rather worse. Hence didn't dare to screw up this phone. Now I managed to update XT910 to Lineage OS 14.1 and it works amazingly. That prompted me to try out on Galaxy S4.
My questions with this ROM installation are as follows. It will be great if someone can help me or at least give me some good pointers.
- Where do I find system image of Galaxy S4, android version 5.0 so that should things go bad, I can go back to how it is now.
- How do I find out if I have installed recovery or not? If I have not, how do I install it? There are many directions on the web and some suggest to send it through ADB but is there any GUI, like Odin that I can use?
- What happens if I have installed recovery and still try to install TWRP?
- After TWRP installation, should I wipe system folder to install new ROM?
If there is any video made by any of you experts, would love to take a look.
Thanks again for all help.
You could probably get the system image from sammobile.com.
If you used Odin to root it, then you should also be able to use Odin to install the recovery.
Of course you should wipe everything. You're about to install a completely different version of Android, and not just the version is different, but the probably the whole structure too. So it's not wise to keep old system files or data.

Many thanks for your reply.
I could not find my phone under firmware on sammobile.com They have S4 Zoom but not S4 per se. I do plan to take a backup before I proceed, still having an image will make me feel lot more secure.
If you know, could you please comment on recovery question. I tried booting power, home and volume up button and it goes in stock recovery. Since I don't remember if I installed recovery during rooting, its making me feel a little anxious.
Thanks in advance.

If it's the stock recovery then you obviously did not install any custom recovery.
