Ready to throw my Xoom - Xoom General

ARGH. First it took me two days to root the Xoom, now I can't keep a stable 4G/3G data connection. I've gone through 3 SIM cards, and Verizon is telling me that "something" is hanging in their system which won't let me properly activate, so I have to send my Xoom BACk in to Motorola and have them look at it. Anyone else have any nightmarish stories about their Xoom after the 4G upgrade? I live in Detroit and have excellent 4G coverage...my Thunderbolt has 5 bars. I've tried selecting only CDMA, same non-working result.

So sorry that you're having problems. I hope you will be able to get it fixed and have a chance to enjoy it.

It's official. My Xoom is possessed! Shortly after I started this thread, the stupid thing all of a sudden activated itself, and now I have 4G, and it's been on for about 2 hours....WTH? I called Verizon, and they told me that they DON'T see the device active...something's REALLY strange here.....I'll keep an eye on it for a day or two, but if it goes back out, it's going back to Motorola.

Now that is funny, about the possessed. I hope it goes all well for you.

Are you trying to run tiamat or stock? Tiamat doesn't seem to support 4g devices currently.
To clarify tiamat runs for me, when I restore my pre-upgrade image everything but 4g and 3g is fine. I get internet only on wifi. However, the stock update from Moto that it came back with works perfectly.
Also, why did it take 2 days, once the sdk is installed it should be as easy "fastboot OEM unlock" then pushing a few files. It could be possible you messed with your radio or something if you were confused as to what you are doing.

You accept all inherent risks associated with rooting and using custom roms one of which is that your data connection may be flaky.
In the case of trying to get a device to work in a particular fasion I would highly recommend 100% stock until working properly and then moving from there.
In other words... don't tell us you're ready to smash your Xoom because of something you did to it.

I sent my xoom in and had the upgrade down. When it arrived back It was not activated. and would not activate.. I called VZW the first guy I talked to said he would be more then happy to activate my xoom again and that I would have to change my current VZW plan i have with verizon from my current 3g/3gigs plan to a new 4/whater gig plan for more cash. I hung up on they guy and looked threw VZW website and found info about the upgrade, and I found where it says you will not have to change your plan after the upgrade. So i call VZW again this time the guy i talk to sends me to what he calls a stage 2 rep. I talk to him tell him what the first guy told me and then qouted off there website about How i do not need to change my plan. he looked over my account and found that when they upgraded my xoom they screwed up when they entered my sim msein and med info into there system. 3 hours later 2 phone calls and finally he gets all his ducks in a row and finally a working 4g xoom is in my hands.. (and I DID NOT have to change my plan.) and yes i mistype alot. but in my defense only the first and last of a word has to be correct for the human mind to be able to read.

Well my 4g randomly goes from 4g to nothing. Althougth I have bars they are grey and no connection.
My wifi then decides which networks it will connect to and which ones it won't. My router has duel networks set up the same way. Won't connect to 1 but will connect to 2. My friends house full bars standing 5 feet away from the router. Hit connect drops to nothing and cycles remembered / analyzing. Same settings as my router at my house. I go to Toyota connects instantly.
The radio is possessed. Stock Xoom never routed I just got it back this week. And wow battery life is crushed. But WOW is that 4g lte some fast kinda fast my upload is 8mbs!..........when it works

[Q] Sprint Voice & SMS Network DOWN (WI) !!

Well its back up right now (i think) i dont have any one to call right now but the network was down until 20:45~20:50 CST in SE WI. my friend called me on a land-line and told me he was trying to call me. The data on my phone worked the hole time. But 99.9% of out going calls failed and 100% incoming calls failed 100% SMS fail!!!!! I did get two calls to go threw to a AT&T land-line
NOW HEARS THE PROBLEM (SPRINT CAN YOU HEAR ME!) why cant Sprint have emailed us all i understand ith happens and stuff brakes & goes down BUT WHY THE HELL couldn't they of EMAILED us all to let us know that people would not be able to get a hold of us with are SPRINT PHONES!!!!!!
Check the "No data 3G" & the other problem you had on the poll if your data & voice/sms was down.
So lets hears it how many people had no Voice/SMS today? And it would be nice to put your State/City or the Area your in.
Thanks i just kinda want to see the numbers
I'm so ready to go back to Verizon 6 years with them & never a problem (but i REALLY like my Epic :-/ )

WOW i guess theirs no one on hear from Wisconsin, Any how i got a free mouth from them They still suck and i am pissed they did not even email us about it and i may still just dump them and go with. U.S. Cell or back to Verizon
Sorry for your troubles. It's odd, even in the nationwide Sprint outages, I never had any issues. I must be in the one area where things don't break.
EDIT: Not in WI, just sayin'.

Roam Control is the fix. Force your phone off the sprint network.
Humm I would have got the app if I had known about it on Friday :-/ but now that its back up idk if I really need it.
So I take it your a fan of the app, has it saved ur phone calls when sprint went down before?
I use roam control while I am at work since I only get 1 bar to nothing while there if I am on sprint but if I switch to roaming I have full signal. Also helps out a lot with battery too. If I leave it on auto I leave work with 20% left and that's with out using my phone. If I switch to roaming I usually leave with a lot more left.

Cool sounds like that would help my battery when my ohone is sitting on my main PC desk. Its always going back andforth. I know there's. A ton of USB ports there but why plug it in every time iam using my computer.
P.S. its the $3.99 app in the markit ?
I had no issues at all (or any other time, really, except maybe once, and that issue was specific to the Hero). I'm not in SE WI, I'm up near Green Bay. Though looking at the link to the Sprint site it looks like I would have been affected as well. But I had no issues at all. And frankly, even if it was down, I didn't notice.
And I don't really see what you're getting so upset about to be honest. Yeah, it sucks when stuff goes down, but I think the "I"M GOING BACK TO VERIZON" statement was a little extreme. Have you had other problems with Sprint? All in all, it was down for what, 10 minutes? That's nothing. The longest I ever had an issue was back when I still used the stock ROM on my hero, and MMS wasn't working for a few weeks. Honestly, though, what good would them sending an email have done? That late in the evening, most people are eating, or out doing whatever (bars, partying, etc), not checking their email, so by the time most people got the email, the issue would already have been resolved. And they did put out a tweet from @sprint, their official account : http://twitter.com/sprint. Sure, it's not really a channel most people follow, and probably one of the last places people would expect to look, but the point is that they acknowledged the issue. And it looks like the whole 10 minutes you were affected was actually far less than others, I read some users stating that the outage lasted all day.
Basically, what I'm saying is that I've had a solid experience with Sprint the last 3 years or so, I'm not going to switch carriers just because of something like this. They've always been super nice about giving me credits for all sorts of things, ringtones/games that I couldn't transfer from one phone to another, and a few other issues. I feel like their customer service has always been top notch for me, and one day of not being able to talk/text is really no big deal for me.

Yeah it is the one in the market for $3.99. Just make sure you plan is set up for roaming otherwise you might end up with charges you didnt plan on. Especially when it comes to data roaming.

I see your points, But it was down for hours on a Friday NOT 10 minutes & the 3G was still up so i would have seen said email. This has not been Totally fixed yet Visual Voicemail is down right now. You can leave me a vmail & i will get it if i dial 1 on the phone but theirs no notification that you have x number of vmails
So if your phone is having voice mail problems its most likely NOT your phone and its still sprint having problems. One sprint tech told me it was the hole U.S. and another tech said it was still from Fridays (SE WI) problem & that they are still working to fix it
SirRipo your right its not really getting that upset about its just a phone
For me I have everything to complain about when it comes to Sprint service. This outage that just happened on friday night really set me over the top. The only thing that I'm happy about is the fact that it affected lots of people and not just people in my "neighborhood". I live in South Milwaukee, WI and there is a tower somewhere near my house that FAILS at least 3 to 4 times a year. And when it fails I'm not saying hours of service lost, I'm talking DAYS!!! Every time it happens I call Sprint and they do a test on the towers in my area and I hear the same reply out of their mouths when they figure out the problem, they say, "wow, now that's not a good thing" Well if it's not a good thing then why does it continue to happen every 3 months or so. And the sucky thing about it is the fact it usually happens for the entire weekend. At first I thought that was happening all over again, but this issue was different and affected lots of people. So I guess my question is if this happens again, which I know it will from the track record, do you think I would be able to opt out of my contract without having to pay a termination fee? Sprint says that it's up to the customer service rep that handles my termination of service call whether or not I would be charged a fee or not. The way I see it is if the service continues to fail where I live for days on end why should I have to pay a fee? I know that T-Mobile has 4G up and running here in Milwaukee with the HSPA+ and Sprint doesn't have 4G here at all, and who knows now long it's going to take them to get it. Sprint in my area either works, and works very well, or it's just not there at all, there is no in between.
jaygraffix Thats BS!
i was with sprint years back & i was never happy with them then but i thought that maybe things have changed. I have some time in my 30 days left to dump there ass, I just thought the price was right. (and i love the Epic) But after this BS and hearing jaygraffix problems in a city just a little south of me that i'am in all the time i just may have to move on to there competition.
The fact is sprint nextel is a multi billion dollar corporation and its not going to hit there bottom line to completely replace the tower by jaygraffix house! And i should not have to talk with 6 sprint reps about the VVM not working today & have the finale rep offer me a hole $8.00 credit when the Tech support rep i was talking to before OFFERED ME $25.00 WTF and because i wanted to talk with a CS manager (and did) he only gives me the $8 WTF! less than the guy i was talking to before him! NOW TELL ME YOU WOULD NOT BE PISSED AFTER THAT HAPPENED TO YOU
Maybe if every one in SE WI would dump them all on the same day they would take a hint! (fees & all be DAMED) When i started this tread i was really hoping to see 1000's of hits on the poll but i guess there are just not that many people on this forum from around my area. I Totally see now why Verizon costs what it does.

Signal Issues

I got my Vibrant right at launch and I've never had a stable 3g signal. It always seems to go back and forth between 3g and Edge. I always just assumed we didn't have good signal in my area but I now know that isn't true.
I picked up a used G1 to take the camera out of to use at work and loaded it up with updated Radio, SPL, and Rom and it gets a steady 3g signal all the time and also got my wife a Mytouch 4G for Christmas and her phone basically stays on 3g all the time too.
Like right now my phone is sitting next to me on my desk at work and it's on 3g but when I pick it up and click on an app or two it goes back to Edge. Could this be a hardware issue and something I could fix like the hardware GPS fix?
Just to add I currently have Axura 2.2.7 and KA6 modem. I've used every modem that's come out and same issue with all. Thanks for the help.
bump for some help lol.
It's a tough decision because I like this phone so much but not having a reliable 3g signal makes it tough. If worse comes to worse I guess I will have to sell the phone and might go back to the G1 until something else comes out. Still debating on getting a G2 or mytouch but don't want buyers remorse when something better comes out next month.
Call t-mobile and see about a replacement phone. might just be your radio is bad? Or defective phone all together.
That's what I would do.

I had issues like this kinda I live in a hspa area and was having great 3g service 4bars all the time and one day it just would go to edge I called tmo talk to technical support and told them about it they had someone go out and look at the towers by me and they fixed it in 2 days im running 2.2.5.7 with KA6 and have great service still.

I really don't think there's a tower problem because I get great signal on my G1 and on my wifes mytouch 4g.
I'd love to contact Tmobile about this but I can't see it going anywhere because I've opened my phone and removed the camera. We can't have camera phones at work but we are allowed to remove the camera and replace it with permanent epoxy so that a camera can't be re-installed. Plus I've had the phone since launch.

Who makes you remove the camera and the epoxy of it? Why don't you just leave your phone at home or in your car then?
Anyways, that sucks. If it's a defective modem/radio you're kind of SOL unless there is a way to mod it?

Yeah, for your own safety I will not answer that question lol.
Leaving it in a car or at home isn't an option. I get up at 445 and get home from work about 1600, I sleep about 7hrs a night. I didn't pay that much for my high end "mobile" phone to only access it for about six hours out of the day lol. I don't mind not having a camera anyway, I never used it when I did have it.
Looks like I'm screwed on the signal issue. Sucks. So you guys think the Mytouch 4g or G2 would be better? Or is there another phone coming soon to Tmobile I should wait for?

There are many new phones coming in the next year - I would hold out a couple of months. (and I'm not talking Vibrant 4G+ )
I might wait a bit then. I can't see myself getting another Samsung. I'd have hung onto the Vibrant for quite a while if it weren't for the signal issues because it's a great piece of hardware. I just don't trust Samsung to keep us updated. Not saying I'll never buy a Samsung phone again but they will have to turn their track record around as far as updating software before I jump back in. HTC seems like a much safer bet although I won't have that pretty screen

feels like im being swindled

so i guess i shouldve come here and read more about the ns4g before i even got one. the reason why? the reception of course. and when i call sprint wanting to return it it sounds like they will say anything to get you to keep it.
the store i ordered it from (they were out of stock but had one sent to my house 2 days later) wouldnt take it back because "the manager sold it to me and only he can do the returns/exchanges for the items he sells"
so then i called sprint and they wanted to give me an airave. why would i want that? i didnt need it with my evo why should i need it now? because the ns4g has issues thats why.
so then i did some searching around and found out theres 3 "open tickets" in illinois. so of course after they ask my zip code they find it in there as one of the affected.
is the issue on this phone so bad and they sold so many that everyone wants to return them?
i got the feeling sprint doesnt want it back because they know it might not get sold again or something.
i dont know im just disappointed in both the phone and the way i was being handled. i really dont want to pay verizon prices and tmobile isnt that much cheaper in fact is now more then what im paying for my plan
I felt the same way with a fascinate from Verizon. Fortunately I returned it. I think that if you look around here longer, you might find some answers to your problems. I found that Samsung didn't meet my expectations, but hope you can mod it to your satisfaction....

Not sure what is up with the Samsung hate. The Fascinate isn't Samsung's fault. That is completely Verizon's fault. Other SGS do not have the problems the Fascinate has.
I do not own an SNS4G (I've got a T-mobile 3G). I love my phone and feel it has a higher build quality than "better" HTC and Motorola phones (note that heavy and/or metal backs do not equal quality).
I don't know what the issue is with the Nexus S 4g but my Nexus S is amazing, battery life I great and I listen to music a lot, the keyboard is amazing and to top it all off you get Netflix! I would imagine the quality on Netflix over 4g would be amazing! Why people hate on Samsung is beyond me, at least they aren't HTC making overpriced Evos. Still give the Nexus S 4G a try, whatever issues you have with it ask on here and maybe there are solutions that you might not even know about. Trust me, no device on the market can beat the Nexus S, simply because of Stock Android. It really makes the device fly, even after not turning it off in weeks it runs smooth as silk.

I had the NS4G for a few weeks - the reception is awful. I am outside of Chicago and in "best" coverage areas for 3G and 4G and would get 1 bar at best most of the time. Downtown coverage was good, but the signal strength compared to other Sprint devices was just poor.
If you picked up the device new or on a contract you have 14 days to return it - they cannot deny you that return in that window. If you purchased outright you have 30. Don't let them hassle you - go into the store and tell them you are returning the device. On your receipt (or received with your purchase) you should have a document explaining the exact return policy and timeline.

it was an "upgrade" so i do have 30 days. supposedly theres a tower outage thats affecting crest hill, fairfield, plainfeild, romeoville(where i am) and lockport plus a few more. the peoblem is that issue started on the 12th and is still ongoing.
i really want to keep this phone but if not and the tower issue isnt fixed by the 28th day im gonna jump ship. ill just have to figure out that unroot trick, it makes no sense to me. someone needs to make everything 1-click for idiots

Service with T-Mobile is actually pretty good. In and around chicago you are set. In the Joliet, Plainfield, Crest Hill area service is great - data speeds are usually 2-5mpbs on speed tests. I almost always have full coverage. I don't have any issues with dropped calls or texts. Time is spent between the Chicago Area, Rolling Meadows/Schaumburg and Joliet/Plainfield/Naperville.
I travel through Wilmington to visit family and always have service (Even in fairly rural areas in Irquois county). Somewhere between 55 and 57 you'll drop to edge, but service remains good.

Grab this set of images and extract. If you have the SDK tools dir in your PATH then you can just cd to the extracted directory. If not then drop the files into the tools dir with fastboot.

Unrooting is easy.
Grab this set of images and extract. If you have the SDK tools dir in your PATH then you can just cd to the extracted directory. If not then drop the files into the tools dir with fastboot.

lol. i guess i just have to try and figure some of this stuff out. i have sdk, dont know what it does or how to use it. dont know if i have adb and probably wouldnt know what to do with it if i did. i have qpst and again dont know what it does or how to use it.
but thanks for the tmoblie info, i have a lil summer place in braidwood and i know the sprint signal is better there then in romeoville tho theres no 4g and thats where i do most tethering.
I have a sprint ns4g. Wherever I go I get the same signal quality as all my coworkers with evos and heros. I'm not sure but there has to be some differences in built versions.
My time without signal is usually 5% or less. I don't get it. I wish I had someone in the same spot as I am so we can compare two nexus phones side by side.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
I returned mine and got the evo 3d no signal issues what so ever. Also, the Evo 3d is just as smooth even with sense.
I went from a evo to the ns4g and love it. My signal is great, no dropped calls yet and my home office is in my basement, used to drop at least one call a week on the evo. battery life is incredible compared to my evo. I have not problem at all going a full day of normal usage on a full charge. i was lucky to get 5 hours on my evo. I did think about exchanging it for the evo 3d but decided not too, the size of the ns4g is perfect, the evo felt to big and heavy for me. everything i read about the 3d is that the battery sucks worse than the evo. battery is the most important thing to me in a phone. I would rather have the updates right away and forget the sense, i hate that crap.
btw, when i did my yearly upgrade i did try the htc arrive at 1st because i wanted to check out the windows phone, and sprint did give me a hard time at 1st on the exchange. with a little *****ing they took it back and waved the 35.00 restocking fee. you just have to be firm with them. I always deal with telephone sales, never the store, its much easier to get someone with authority. 2 years ago they even exchanged one for me after the 30 day period. I got the palm pre and hated it. it wasn't an official exchange, they sold me a bb curve for 199.00 and had me send the pre back on the sprint buyback and got 150 through that. not too bad since i was past the 30 day period. Just ask for the escalation department.
well im pretty sure that my home signal issues are due to a still open ticket which was opened on the 12th in my general area.
yesterday 30 miles south of me in the small town boonies my signal was 3 and 4 bars @ -76db and -65dbm with blazing old school 3g. i dont use speedtest or anything but it was fast as hell, yet no 4g down there.
and l was also 15 miles west of home in a more densly populated area and signal was just as good there.
I live in nampa Idaho and we have excellent sprint coverage here and I still have signal issues. On the evo I almost always had full bars. My nexus rarely has more than one bar.

insanely bad service?

I've been having INSANELY bad service lately and I get mixed responses from people I know around here with sprint. I've experienced it on the EF02 modem, DK28, EC05, and am currently on EB13. This crap has been going on for about a week now. Anyone else experience this?
I'm running syndicate 1.2 right now.
Wait a few more days. They might be upgrading the local speed.
any way to know for sure? wouldnt they send out a notice letting customers know?
Whats your location?

Two possibilities. One, the network is having severe issue. Two, your radios gone bad (which yes, it does happen). Either way, go to a sprint store that has service and repair. (a coporate one). They'll do a PoST test on your phone to check your radio. If it's bad, you'll get a replacement. If it's not, they'll check the towers in your area and possibly submit a network ticket. If that's the case then it's a waiting game.

I've been having terrible service here in Lansing, MI too. I still get failed text messages a few times a day. My signal has been actin funky, 4 bars to 1X to 3 bars to no bars standing in the same spot. Data speeds seem to be slower too. I manually updated my PRL and tried EC05, EF02, and EG22 modems and nothing...
I wonder if sprint will do a radio test on my rooted device... don't wanna odin to stock for nothin..

I'm going to drop this tidbit of info here, and nowhere else.
Sprint doesn't care that your device is rooted. It does not void your TEP. If an associate tells you otherwise, they're wrong.

You are lucky, I've been able to send about 5 text messages today, and I'm a heavy texter. I've been trying for about an hour to send this last one. I have been getting sms fails like this on and off for almost a week. Calling is pretty hit or miss too sometimes.
I usually have about 2-4 bars, occasionally I get the 1X symbol.
edit: meant to quote wishkah
also, thanks reassuring me on that squshy, I heard that somewhere before but wasn't sure.

I have been having erratic issues with text in MA i chalked up to network issues. I am a very heavy user of text lol I out text my 25 year old son LOL! Been with Sprint 4 months now and I average just shy of 1500 a month thank god for unlimited txt and now that football is here it is going to get a lot worst LOL
ive been through 5 epics the last month. literally. 3 from assurion and 2 from sprint. sprint finally gave me an airave which only helped inside my house. everyone else around me with any htc phone has no issues. there is something seriously wrong with the samsung hardware. the nexus s also has the same issues.
piss poor quality on samsungs part is to blame. the evo gets 9mb down on 4g im lucky to connect. 3g is a joke. and making a phone call outside my house requires me to walk down the street.
i live 10 minutes from sprints headquarters...

Quality comes in many forms my friend. For instance, we're not the ones with a manufacturer recognized charging port soldering durability issue. Or hardware revisions to get the display ribbon cable to last.
"but it's made with plastic! And mine's made with aluminum!"
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
there are a few designs flaws with the charging port.
still, the epic should be classified as a rpos.
i still have the sero plan but verizon is looking really nice for twice the money.
sprint sucks simple as that.
i live 10 minutes from headquaters
so do i have any chance unlocking this pos and getting better productivity?

why would you keep getting the same phone if you have that big of a problem with it, the evo is cheaper now you know...
Also, i don't know if it matters, but when i flash a new modem, it usually fails the first time and passes the second time. I can also make and receive calls with more reliability than sms. seems like i just can't send a text with any reliability whatsoever.

Wrong Note Received!!!

After drooling over the Note via virtually by watching a ton of youtube videos as well as reading up on everything about it I could find, I finally was ready to buy it (after had borrowing the money to get it). I knew I wanted the GT-N7000 version over the US AT&T model, mainly because of the better processor and I really like that Video Maker app, as well as a bunch of other things. I ordered my International Note through Amazon, with Prime Shipping! I placed the order for it last Wednesday afternoon, but it was not scheduled to arrive until Today, Monday. Woke up early, just to make sure I was handed the package and it wasn't thrown to my front door, ... I immediately felt something was wrong when I saw the box. It was in a longer than needed rectangular box, with both sides pushed in, to where you could actually reach in and pull the phone out of the box.
When I opened the box, too look at what was in there, first thing I noticed was that the phone box was not plastic wrapped, second thing, the AT&T logo on the box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wasn't really upset as I should of been, but the feeling of waiting over the weekend for Monday to come started back up again, as I knew I was going to have to return this phone, and wait for it to go through the process of mailing it back, waiting for the refund to go through, then reordering it from someone else, and waiting for it to arrive again.
The dealer I bought it from was MasterDeals Inc on Amazon. I will definitely not be buying anything from them in the future.
What a huge letdown this was, after having that NOTE FEVER for several weeks, then for it to end this way was a big disappointment. I hope the next one that gets shipped to me is the correct model.
I got to hold it for but a brief instance, my baby and I will meet again soon.
Sorry to hear that, it should all get sorted out as the product you purchased was a N-7000 and not the ATT Note.
Man that really sucks I am planning on ordering another note from amazon for my wife and I want to make sure that doesn't happen to me. I just noticed the reseller who is selling through Amazon that I was planning on buying through has two different pictures one for att and one for international ill have to be careful. Good luck on your return I hope they get you all sorted quickly it really is an amazing device.

When ordering online they don't specify which version it is? I'm sorry to hear that ... regardless, I'm sure it'll get straightened out.
UPDATE: 4/6/12
After what happened, which I posted above, I am glad to say I am now a VERY HAPPY GT-N7000 Note owner.
How it happened.
After opening the package which I had received on Monday 4/2/12, I immediately packaged it back up and sent it back, due to the fact that the seller had sent me the AT&T model, which I did not order.
Amazon's customer service emailed me the pre-paid UPS postage to include on the box, and I went to the nearest UPS drop off location and sent it. This was about 3:45 pm.
On Wednesday, at 12:00 PM, I had received a email from Amazon saying they had received the return, and were processing it and would email me back once the refund was submitted. That evening around 6:00 pm, I had received the email saying the amount I spent on the phone, $609.99, was being refunded back to the card I had used for the purchase. That was good enough for me.
3 Hours later or so, I reordered the Note from Yapper Wireless on Amazon. This was after receiving response emails from them that they were in fact selling the GT-N7000 model, so I placed the order around 9:00 pm that night.
Since I am a Amazon Prime member, I only had to pay $3.99 to have my order sent via 1 day shipping, which I did, as I wanted it before the weekend.
Thankfully, it did arrive this morning, Friday, at 11:00 am. Keeping my fingers crossed, I opened the box, and immediately seen that it was in fact the GT-N7000 WHITE model.
The phone box was not plastic wrapped, and after looking in the box, I noticed why, the seller took out the international plug adapter, and replaced it with the US Samsung one, which I was happy about.
Next I installed a screen protector, which I am not sure I will keep on, then installed my 32GB Samsung Class 10 Micro SD card, and installed my Straight Talk sim card. Followed the instructions on the Straight Talk website, activated the sim, picked the $45 a month Unlimited plan, and entered the APN settings that can be found on this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1487293 Thanks to Hirudin for posting it.
I first tried a call, Worked.
Text message, Worked.
Took a pic and sent it (MMS), Worked.
Again, I was VERY HAPPY! It's feels good to have unlimited minutes again, after being SO limited as I was with my 300 minutes a month $35 Virgin Mobile plan.
Next step, downloaded Speed Test to test the network.
Turned off WiFi (of course), Began Test.
I noticed in the status bar, It was going from 3G to H+, but then stayed on H+, this test was taking inside my house.
Results:
3.1 MBPS Down
1.2 MBPS Up
I am located in Fremont, CA .. the Bay Area.
I again, VERY HAPPY with these speeds, I would be lucky to get 100 KBPS Down with Virgin Mobile, which of course runs off of Sprints network.
I then went to the Google Play store on my computer, signed in with the email associated with my phone, and went to Devices under account settings, I was once again VERY HAPPY to see that it shows my carrier as AT&T!
The phone is on the charger now, I haven't really got into it yet, but I can say that this is definitely the BEST phone I have ever owned, and yes I did once own and use the iPhone 4. I am so excited to FINALLY have my very own Note, and I can't wait to start using it and customizing it to my liking. I look forward to May 22, when Samsung announces the S III, and hopefully whatever specs this new phones has, hardware wise, will make it into the Note 2. Quad Core/2GB Ram/12-16 Megapixel Camera/etc. I just hope the Note 2 at least keeps the same size screen, if not go slightly bigger!
Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to share my experience with everyone, and yes, the Note/Straight Talk combination works flawlessly! Highly recommended if you don't like spending $100+ on your phone bill.
Long Live the Note/Hail to the King Baby!
Gotta love those happy endings.
And don't worry about the phone being on 3G, mine does the same. It switches to H+ when it starts pulling data, and goes back to 3G when it's finished; i think it's a power saving measure.
Wow from disaster to awesome, all sorted within the week. Sounds like you and amazon worked really fast to fix the problem. Congrats on getting the right note and I could almost feel your optimism while reading through lol!
Too many times ppl get hung up on bad mouthing a company due to a problem and take ages to get it fixed. You on the other hand named and shamed vowing never to buy from again (same thing I would do) and then got on with getting your phone
There really is no going back to a smaller device for ppl who use their phone other than calls. Loved my Dell Streak for year and a half and now I love my note. 5" is the future.
Enjoy your device buddy wd.

Yeah, I am glad it all worked out in the end. I know what you mean about not going back to a smaller device, I don't think I could do it, or at least I know I wouldn't want to.
Actually it bounces back from H+ to 3G as soon as your phone is idle for a couple of seconds or your throughput is below a certain threshold. This is controlled by the network and not your phone. The wireless medium is shared between many users, this is done to free up the limited resources for the users actually needing H+ and throw back everyone who doesn't need it to 3G.
