What alternatives to Touchnooter 1.6.24? - Nook Touch General

The very bottom of my Nook Touch screen is not responding when started with the Touchnooter launcher. Is there an alternative that might use the touch screen differently, or a way of shrinking the screen space used?
Thanks

Cyanogenmod - Replacing ADWLauncher with the stock 2.2 launcher

I've tried replacing ADWLauncher using both Launcher2.apk, and Launcher42.apk, from these threads:
http://forum.cyanoge...ck-22-launcher/
http://forum.xda-dev...ad.php?t=766720
Both launchers work, but eventually they each become unresponsive when switching between home screens. When this happens, swiping between screens doesn't work properly. The screens require a slight press before they will move. Also, each screen requires slightly different press times.
I'm running the 09082010 nightly. This also occurred with 6.0.1 and 6.0.2.
Any suggestions as to why this is happening, and any resolution?
Thanks!

[Q] Readability, font size on N2E and apps

Hi,
I'm an Android noob with aging eyes. I have trouble seeing some of the text on the rooted N2E and in apps.
In Kindle, especially, the biggest font size I can set is still a little small.
Any tips?
Thanks, John
You can change screen density... but there are some issues...

You can use one of the various LCD density changers from the Android Market. This will allow you to set the relative pixel density of the display. Try this application:
https://market.android.com/details?id=lv.n3o.lcddensity&feature=search_result
This works fine with many third party applications, however, the stock Barnes and Noble applications were not necessarily written to follow the rules. They do not adapt well to the change and various pieces of the GUI for those applications will be cut off. You can experiment with it a bit to set the density to something that will yield much larger text and GUI elements for side loading applications.

Thanks, Michael, I'll give it a try!
Edit: the app LCDDensity for Root, which is free and in beta, does what I wanted it to do: it makes the Kindle app more readable for me, and the material on the Android home screen larger and easier to read. It also works in the Nook reader on the Nook "side" of the Android device (so I can switch back and forth between Kindle and Nook readers and have them both provide usable--for me--font sizes.
As Michael noted in his posting above, the stock Barnes and Noble apps are not necessarily written to work with this. Thus, the Barnes and Noble menus and such were not usable in my hasty look at them with LCDDensity set to 200%. That's ok by me--this gives me readable Kindle and Nook which is what I wanted.
There are other lcd density apps that I haven't tried, at least one of which is paid. Perhaps one of those would work better with the Nook Simple Touch.
Thanks again, Michael!
John
Thanks, Michael.
I changed LCD density to 200 and reaching Home Button Savior became a lot easier and reading on Repligo Reader is perfect now (if you click the option to "convert" pdf to text, zoom is limited to 150%).
LCDDensity for Root does solve the readability issue with Kindle/gReader/Email, but also screw up B&N native app including slide to unlock/Home menus etc while at it... hmmm, wonder if this would be improved somehow - like a special version just for Nook STR (heh, might be asking too much)?

I've notice a few places where the contrast could be improved. Some apps are effectively unreadable because they put dark grey on slightly less dark grey.
I'd like to create a theme that increases the contrast of all drawable resources, an effect similar to setting your computer to display High Contrast (Windows) or Toggle Invert Colors (Mac).

I'd pay for this - especially if it eliminates the "missing text" effect created by the white text resident in many menus and notification boxes.
I have my launcher home screen virtually black on white now, and it is great on the eyes.

Partial Cracked Screen Fix (without replacing)

The bottom of my N7 screen cracked but the device is still very usable. The bottom half inch will not respond to touch, but everything above that point works just fine! I'm hoping for a way to expand my navigation bar size, or bump it up to leave my screen blank under it.. Any help will be greatly appreciated and I have some $ in PayPal as a thanks. Any help as in a ROM that allows a Nav Bar Resize.. A way to move it to the top of my tablet screen... Some way I can put a google search bar under it or anything to waste that space. Thanks for ideas, hoping to save my N7 and keep it usable without having to rotate it everytime I need that portion of my screen!

I could have sworn I've seen navbar mods somewhere. You could always consider using PIE controls, however, if you want to remap them to the left/right screen edges.
Thanks for the quick reply. Pie Controls is a very useful work around for now. The app would be amazing if it let me choose exactly where on the screen I could pull up the navigation bar, but even without that option it is a great help!
I've seen some Mods but all of them seem to shrink the Bar, not enlarge it.
The reason I want to extend the stock navigation bar isn't just to be able to touch the buttons but it also pushes all opened apps, my home screen, etc up past that point that is cracked... So while playing a game or in my options menus I would still be able touch the bottom of my screen, just above the navigation bar (which I can't do now.) Basically, the top of the Bar is the bottom of my touch screen and it isn't high enough for me to use the entire screen =(

LMT Launcher is a pie control interface. It allows you to open from anywhere on the left or right and you can setup gestures as well with it to do the navbar functions. Look it up here on xda.

[Q] [NST] Horizontal white lines in status bar?

I have a rooted nook simple touch (rooted with Nook Manager).
This morning, I noticed two white horizontal lines in the top notification area.
These line persisted even after I reboot or restore the NST.
However, it appeared fainter when I was in apps with black background (such as Superuser or Orion viewer).
What caused this to happen?
Is there any ways to solve it?

I am assuming this is a case of stuck pixels, which has no real fix.
However, just to be sure, will you please take a screenshot of the screen and take a picture of the screen with an external camera, and post them both for me here?
Hopefully you made a backup before rooting, if so use Nook manager to restore and see if your problem is resolved.

Make screen size smaller

A while ago I dropped my G2, and now the screen is broken
An edge of 1 cm on the right side of the screen isn't working, the rest of the screen is fine.
I was wondering if there is a way to make the screen smaller so it fits in the part of the screen that works.
I have already tried the resolution changer app, but if I change the horizontal resolution, this app centers the screen, but I want it to align left. (Because only the right side is broken...)
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?
On stock roms simply swipe on the nav bar

As Siggey said, LG has a function called Miniview which shrinks the screen. You just have to swipe the navbar.
