Has anyone successfully used the rear camera for video calling on skype? For some reason it wont work for me I tried both 3G and wifi. Im using stock rom.

Maybe if there is a hacked version, it should work, but I think it wont!
i have the same problem, the person in other side can't see me. i'll try with the hacked version, seems that the moto defy have the same problem

I've recently manually updated to the official 318 package via the QDL tool. Am I the only one who has lost the ability to use the front facing camera for video calls?

It was well documented here and everywhere that the front facing camera did not work with 2.2., so you aren't the only one. If you wanted to keep using the camera, you needed to stay with ver 1.6, and hope that Skype comes out with an Android version for 2.2.

weird coz my FF camera works just fine on streak
i have 318 running and FFC works with ooVoo - i think it's better than fring since it can do a mobile to pc as well as mobile to mobile video call.

I've never used these apps, but does both sides have to be using the same app for video chat? Or can a Skype user talk to a Fring or ooVoo user? I know Fring doesn't run on 2.2.
Front facing cam running fine on my Streak 318.
Fring works on my device just fine and its 2.2....outside of video calling. when I start a vid call, the only camera utilizd is the rear cam.
FF cam works (through the camera app)....
is this a programming issue, or somethng with my phone? Any suggstions for a fix? or is the ffcam onbmy phone now useless?

However, if you are running froyo, it only supports the rear camera (which is totally retarded). They try to make it sounds like the rear camera thing is a froyo limitation, yet the front camera works just fine on Tango.
Tried it on EG22 and it works very nicely using the front camera, and the camera is correctly oriented as well.

I tried it on EC05, and it didn't work. I went to the options to enable video chat, and it told me that I needed to re-install Skype. I did so (twice) and it was disabled again. Not sure what is happening.
The rear camera thing is unbelievable.
It appears this is app-wise one of the few reasons to want GB. Too bad Skype has the rep for being a POS no matter what they do to it.

You have to go into settings and enable it then when in the call got the camera icon and select front.

Where is your skype installed? I got this for a themed Google plus. And if you're using the hacked Skype it won't update with the official one. You'll have to uninstall it.

Works great on Bonsai B14 EG22 ROM. I have 2 Epics on my account and for some reason one only shows correct if held upside down...wierd. Should I try uninstalling and reinstalling? Or is there a setting somewhere to fix this?
Running great on Random Rom Osprey. I was at work the other day and skyped with my wife on the laptop. The video even looked pretty good on 3g, no drops or skips. I was pleasently suprised.
I haven't used this cause I use the hacked version, but the hacked version works flawlessly for me and my wife (both EG22), unlike that POS tango.

You can get front camera working with ec05 if you use the hack version of Skype found in the i9000 Apps and theme thread. Although the front camera orientation is off

Get skype instead. It hasn't been officially released for the MT4G but (Only if you're on the gingerbread update) this should work:

It is very good. Also, the market will offer an update for skype that will overwrite this one. Don't take it, as it will make video calling stop working.

Wrong suggestion, outdated. The Market version of Skype works perfectly on MT4G. It has a switch in Options that allows turning video on for any phone. Just download Skype, turn that switch on, and you have video.
first off dont hate on me if i posted in the wrong section. This is the only part in the forums I'm allowed to post in.
Now to get things started i've been using neutrino a while now (1.4 s ee)
and I recently tried to use oovoo but it wont allow me to video chat. even in the settings of the oovoo app their is no camera options. oovo always worked for me before I flashed neutrino. does any one else have this problem? is their a fix for it?
Ive already searched for this but no one else seems to have this problem on neutrino.
All that aside this rom is just fantastic.

neutrino rom uses miui camera not the stock gb cam soo it doent suport front camera extract camera and gallery from
cm7stable and swapp out your camera and gallery

The front camera does work with Google hangouts and with chat if you install the add-on zip. Most things that don't work with neutrino do work after flashing the add-ons

I should've mentioned that i did flash the camera add-on but still nothing. Can provide exact instructions on how to go about doing what you described?
Seems that Video is broken in Google Talk on this rom. When ever I try to video call some one, the screen goes black like its about to start video and then goes back to the contact list. Tried reinstalling Google Talk, this hasn't helped.
Also, Skype video calls, no one can hear me unless I plug some headphones in or don't use video.
