Very impressive, how's the front camera?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda premium

actually, it was really good.
i tried tango with my friends, had no problem at all.
i'm lovin this phone!!
my friends have both att and sprint version of SGSII, but i don't think tmo's isn't that bad compared to them

Can you play MKV's in the stock video player?
The lack of good out-of-the-box video support is what's holding me back from getting a non-exynos version of the sgs2.

This phone is a beast exynos or no exynos processor. if it cant play MKV format movies out of the box there's an app for that. i would really like to see a web browsing experience with the Hercules.

Meh. Show me it competes with the upcomming Prime or that it has a backlit illuminated camera. Otherwise it's old news.

i don't know what you really mean by testing the gps, but i tried to locate myself on the app called "TeleNav GPS Navigator." it seems it's doing what it's supposed to do.

It's just nicer having hardware acceleration for video decoding. Less glitchiness. Smoother overall. That's why I like the Hummingbird in the Vibrant.

It should be able to as Samsung has a whole bunch of codecs which wouldn't be hard to implement into qualcomm s3 processor. The sound should be better as well compared to the original Samsung galaxy 2. Looks like Samsung can use qualcomm processor to its full potential unlike htc. I will be picking mines up at the store on release date. Now all we need is a forum.

Without flash, most of the pirate streams on the net will be unavailable to Ipad users, you can watch flash video without flash through a browser conversion like skyfire, but not streaming content.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
Ah, OK. Flash. The beta implementation is pretty good. Hopefully the version released on the 18th will exercise the tegra with optimized hardware acceleration.
Watching the video review on engadget of a guy watching a video on engadget made my head hurt this morning
Let me preface this with a statement; i'm no fan of apple. However Jobs and his goons have a valid point in regards to flash. Its big, buggy, proprietary, power hungry and just generally a piece of crap on all platforms including the PC.
From a development standpoint, it can be tedious. I would choose silverlight over flash any day.
From a video standpoint, I hope HTML 5 takes over.
Problem is that flash is everywhere on the net right now. It is hard to do daily browsing without it.
Where apple dorked things up is not allowing the normal technlogy darwinism to take place. Flash will fade like divix and real media did when flash took over. The difference in apples case is that nothing is available to replace it (yet).
Apple effectively rejected the technology without giving people an alternative and I hope it affects their market share.
Allowing people to select what works best is why the internet ecosystem works and evolves. Not allowing choice is nothing more than simple asshattery on apples part.

Well that is the "Seriously?" face. Pretty sure he is commenting on how ridiculous it is that the Xoom is bested by a year old iPad and demolished by the iPad2 in that test. That said, the linked image is a synthetic benchmark test and is not representative of any real world performance really. The Xoom is faster than the iPad for real world gaming, but is trounced by the iPad2.

Review from engadget
http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/20/t-mobile-g2x-review/
While most of the hardware in the G2x hits the spot, we're a little underwhelmed with the display. The 4-inch WVGA (800 x 480) IPS panel looks good on paper but misses the mark when compared to the competition. Sure, the colors are rich and the viewing angles are wide, but the LCD washes out more than expected in direct sunlight and suffers from a significant amount of backlight leaking out from the edges of the screen, resulting in visible "stains" on solid, dark-colored content.

It's getting rave reviews, the only complaints I have read are the light leak and the Euro version comes with a hdmi cord and the us version doesn't. Other than those two complaints this phone seems to be a winner.
Oh damn, I'm still up in the air between this one and the SGSII. Looks like Sammy's gonna win in the display dept. This is pretty disappointing to see; especially since we know LG makes the screens for the iphones. SMH.
Don't see much of an upgrade from my vibrant. Now if it had a 4. 3" screen, I would run and get one today I hope we get phone with a screen that big soon.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
People should really wait this out. The Vibrant is more than good enough for now, why rush and get the newest flawed product.
I've had 3 phones in the past 2 months, lost a mt4g over the weekend, got a gs4g on Sat, returned it today got the g2x and other than missing the optical mouse on the mt4g, for what's out there currently this phone is by far my favorite....but really how come phones are now lacking camera hw buttons and notification LEDs, that has been irking me all week, and I would take a vibrant over a gs4g because of the internal storage
im trying to wait for the galaxy 2 but i doubt i will be able to wait and find my self getting the g2x
Played around with it today at the downtown Seattle TMO store, and the screen was a major letdown for me. I went wanting to upgrade. The kicker was when I asked if I got the upgrade they said I had 3 months before my 1 year for discount to upgrade. Grrr. Wonder if the HTC Sensation will be out by then, bigger screen, faster processor, etc.

I wouldn't count on saying that SGSII would have a not-working GPS..
i'm sure Samsung learned from their mistake..
i mean... the GPS bug was found out like a month after Vibrant's were sold...

They can't re-call millions of sold products...

Indeed. At times it seems some people buy phones here just for the sake of having a "new" one. Why change when you've a device that works just like you want to? Better specs aint everything, looks can be deceiving.

You're right but everytime I compare this with my Olde Cliq, I piss off .Except for the not too good speed, everything works nicely and its GPS just simply blow Vibrant one out of the water (locks within 5 seconds no matter what roms I put on it Eclair, Froyo or Gingerbread)
So the LG G2X runs the Tegra Duel Core, the HTC Sensation will be running their Scorpion duel core chip, and the Galaxy S2 will be running what processor?
I remember seeing something about the HTC duel core not being as good as the Tegra 2's? how about the Galaxy S2 duel core?
I know its a lot to ask, just wondering if anyone remembers seeing that HTC chip was not as good as the Tegra or what the Samsung will have.
I think it will be good to compare this as it seems like these are the 3 phones many of us are trying to decide on/wait for

old S2? lol... To be honest I think that 3D is a fad and another way to make us part with our hard earned gadget money.
I admit I am curious to see one in real life but won't be giving up my S2 anytime soon.
I am getting a LG 3D but won't get rid of the GS2, to be fair I saw a video on youtube a chap had took that has one and the 1080p was as good as this but had faster auto focus, there was also a 3D 720p video but you obviously need the 3d stuff to see that properly.
I played with one of the 3D phones over the weekend and I started to get a headache when looking at the screen after a while. I'm going to give the 3d thing a miss.

Love my samsung. Even if they do release a new samsung (which they wont) by the end of this year, the developers wont jump ship when they just purchased the SGS2. I go where developers go

A bunch of us came from the G2X/O2X. After six months, LG can't fix the firmware and/or release a 2.3.X update. Devs found interesting things in their code. Debugging was left enabled, there's comments relating to "demo code," drivers were poorly written and some incomplete. And the G2X/O2X really aren't that advanced hardware wise other than having a dual-core SoC and HDMI. If they can't get a somewhat basic phone correct, why would you have any faith in them developing a 3D phone? Check out the O2X, G2X, and Revolution forums. LG should stick to TVs and washers and dryers. After my G2X experience I would use two cans and a string before I'd ever own another LG phone.

Same for me. I didn't like playing with Nintendo 3Ds and also when watching 3D movies my eyes don't like it at all.
So yeah, going to skip 3D until they implement it properly.
Maybe after 3 years might get it.

That's the thing though, I can watch 3D movies in the cinema and 3D TV just fine it's just the phone that was uncomfortable for me.
See below, lol
It does nothing better than the SGSII.... The SGSII does everything better than anything at the moment. I'm serious as hell and definitely not a fanboi, just stating fact.
Operative words here are, Nothing Better!

AT&T and Sprint GS III Reviewed.

Looks like the benchmarks confirm it...the International GS III is the top performer. Will that translate into everyday life? Probably not.

However, we also managed to use it under LTE connectivity, which quickly drained the battery like no other. Yeah, we appreciate the 50 Mbit/s speeds, but poor battery life is the inevitable consequence with it all.

It got a 9.3/10. Not bad. Glad I have the International version though.

The fact that both quadrant and antutu benchmark are better shows to me that both dual core performance (quadrant) and quadcore performance (antutu) on international version is better. But both these scores are great and users will hardly notice any difference. Only geeks will feel this.

That's why I said in my post that the end user will probably not notice it at all. They will, however, notice the big battery drain while using LTE.

I agree. Even Aron the iPhone fan boy from phonedog said that. He's been using it from past 5 days and said that battery is not as good as international version.

International, unbranded/"unviolated by US carriers" GT-I9300 FTW.

Now we know why they needed 2GB of RAM. Watch the PhoneDog.com review and pause at 3:38.
That thing is using 1.12GB out of 1.62GB. Whole lot of bloat in there. I rarely see mine go about 550MB.

exactly+the s4 uses more memory. I am glad I sticked to the intl version+development is awesome!!
Weird how Phonedog mentioned that the "Embargo" was lifted at 12:01EST... So some people have had the device for a few days, but had a ban on any video or mentioning having the device...
Maybe the 21st is still on?!?

I imagine a significant portion of that is just linux doing what linux does with ram.. load up as much of it as it can with things it thinks you will use the most so they load quicker. We aren't on oldschool windows here, high RAM usage is desirable.

Can we really assume that it's bloat? I only have 2 theories.
1. They just set the MinFree to be the same as the International version.
or
2. They tweaked this Touchwiz to be able to run smoothly on the S4 by caching all its features in the RAM to everything can load up quickly and as smoothly as the international version.
Those are the only things I can think of.
But the wolfson dac... not mentioned

I believe that Supercurio had a tour with Wolfson and they told him it would not be present in the S4 SGS3. But I don't think that's official enough for me to make a conclusion.

I wonder how the US variants of the Galaxy S3 handle the pop up play feature. If it stays smooth....
