[Q] Headphones problem - Acer Iconia A500

Has anyone noticed a problem with using headphones? I have tried 4 different pairs and only managed to get 1 pair working properly. The problem is that when you plug the headphones in the small headphones icon appears in the lower right hand side but when you play the music it comes through both the headphones and also the speaker. It seems to be the headphones are not seating properly.

same problem!!
yess i have the same problemm!!!
i realised that to fix this problem, you have to plug in the headphones while firstly playing any songs through the tablet speakers, then it detects there's headphone plugged in.
This is issue is really pissing me off!! i hope they fix it asap!

yes i had that problem and felt like an idiot when i finally realised that i was sharing my music with everyone on the bus!
very weird problem which has stopped me from listening to music on my a500 even though the audio quality is superior to my Sony Ericsson X10 and my HTC Sensation.
Thanks for the tip - I'll try it out tonight!

this trick works for me too, but only while the audio is playing through the specific app. if i stop music while doing this trick and change to video it out puts the video out of both speakers and headphones again.
It really has nothing to do with the jack seating, it has to do with the audio mixer and the jack detection.
it should be fixed eventually (hoping with ICS) but for now I have to take my headphones off and check the output like a weirdo anytime I want to switch apps using headphones.

Hi, I have also this problem but I noticed another strange thing : when you listen to a track using headphones the stereo image looks moved slightly to the right, it's not well centered. Is it only a problem of my A500 or is it general ?
Thanks
Ramp

Are you guys using non-stock ROM or something? I am on stock 3.1 and I am not having any kinds of issues with it, headphones work just fine and the stereo image is as centered as it should. Or maybe it's your headphones, have you tried with other devices?

I'm on Taboonay 2.1 and i can't remember noticing it when i was using stock rom. I only noticed it because i felt the slight vibration coming from the speakers. I have got 1 Set of headphones that work really well with it and it only happens with my other headphones which weren't exactly cheap (typical) but they all work on everything else i plug them into, so i think it's more to do with the seating of the headphones rather than the rom because i've got a pair that work fine, although i now have some doubt so i'm going to try them all out again to make sure

Same problem here, with Taboney 2.1 and different head phones.

Hi, just upgraded to 3.2 original and now everything comes out in mono. No stereo from headphones. Anyone having the same prob? Wow, things are getting even worse....

I had this same problem too on stock HC 3.1
The trick works for me; but is rather annoying trying to drive and play music at the same time
I have recently changed to Lightspeed ROM with Thor 3.7 (the rest) kernel and have not experienced any sound issue yet =]

I have some problems with the last Tabooney 3.2 ROM and headphones too.
Sound goes through headphone and tab speakers.
I noticed that if I unplug and plug headphones twice or three times I could only have sound into headphones and works well.
I never used OTA ROM so, can't say if it works well with it, but there is a prob with Taboonay's ROM.
I can't post in DEV thread (regard to my posts count).

rear speaker keeps playing while using headphones

hi all,
My rear speaker keeps playing while my headphone are plugged in. The headphones work fine, but the speaker doesn't mute. It's only the rear speaker, not the front although it's way less loud than with earphones unplugged. still much too loud to listen to music in the train or subway...
using Dutty's extreme 2.0
any help is greatly appriciated!!
Better there than here.
ask dutty his is the one taking care of his good stuff
Fixed!
actually I fixed it.
I desided I wanted to use Dutty's xtreme 2.1 ROM anyways and after flashing that, the problem is over, the rear speakers shuts off when inserting headphones like it should.
Was probably just a fluke, dunno if it was WM6.1, some install or the 2.0 ROM, could have been anything.
Now working fine, so I'm a glad little kid again!

Headphone Jack Stops working

Hey all, I know a lot of people have had problems with the jack doing goofy things, however my problem is a little different. I'm having an issue where i'll be listening to music just fine on my headphones, unplug them, a bit later plug them back in and it no longer plays though the headphones. It will play though the external speaker just fine, but when you plug it in, you head music for about 400ms then it goes silent. Upon rebooting the phone the audio will work again. Sounds almost like a software glitch but not sure how to fix it. The HTC support rep suggested a "hard reset" I really don't want to do that, but it may come to it for testing purposes.
Anyone else run into this problem? I would really like to fix it without wiping the phone.
No headphone problems here my friend. Good luck.
Just a heads up. The evo can sense a mic'd headset inserted or a standard 3.5mm headphone or aux cable. When it senses a standard cable it will run off the headphones and let you do commands or talk trough the built in mic. I had a "headphone" issue that many talk of with diffent things poping up or music not playing. All i had to do was push until I heard a locking click with the headset and with the standard headphones I have. Everything has worked great since then

music plamying from headphones and speakers at same time

So i am having a problem with my tablet playing music from the headphones and the external speakers both at the same time i have honeyvillian 1.1 installed anyone know how to fix please help. Will be much appreciated. oh also im using winamp to play songs if that matters at all
I can't offer much help... have you tried simply using a different set of headphones? Also, make sure, if you have stereo headphones, the jack is actually plugged all the way in.
I had this problem too. Just plug in headphones AFTER turning on music (sorry for my english)
Wysłano z Acer A500
yeah this is the only thing i have found that works. It worked fine when i had stock rom so i think its something with the rom or kernel i flashed i've only had it about 2 weeks.
Thanx for the Replies Tho
im on the stock rom, and have noticed this happens to me as well - just disconnecting and reconnecting the headphones works for me.
same here with 3.2 honeycomb
I noticed this problem. I'm on stock 3.1 rom, with no modification, only installed some apps. I was surprised that the speakers were on while I took off the headphones from my ears. It was not good because I was in a very quiet environment.
lol happened to me in the linrary

Headset - Earphone Problem

Hi all...
My daughter has a ZTE Blade that I flashed originally to a custom rom running Froyo... for Xmas she got some new headset in ear headphones (one's with a mic)... The sound through these when plugged into the Blade is similar to listening to music underwater (muffled and echoing).... if you press the mic button the volume increases but is still poor quality. However plug in a normal earphone 3.5 connector (two bands rather than three) and everything sounds fine... I tried the earphones on other phones/computers and there is definitely nothing wrong with them. We also bought a second pair for my other daughter and they were exactly the same, I then tried my supplied Samsung Galaxy SII headset... again same thing... muffled and echoing sound.
So the problem was with the phone.
I decided to re-flash the phone this time with a Gen 2 Cyanogen Gingerbread rom... I tried the audio again after flashing and it seemed to have been fixed (admittedly I only played a track for a few seconds). Over the course of the day my daughter has reinstalled her apps etc... went to listen to some more music and again the same problem... muffled and echoing sound - pop in some normal headphones and everything is fine.
I have searched around and the problem seems to have come up before a few times but no one has really been able to track down what the issue is. I was actuallt thinking it might be app related (Skype or Tango for example) but I have stopped (not uninstalled yet) these apps but it makes no change.
So it seems that the Blade will not work with any wired headset/mic - any idea's please?
I found it wouldn't work with a headset that has a mic on it, but I got it working fine with my £5 jvc gummi headphones although I'm not getting much in the way of sound quality and volume. Still miles better than the stock headphones in the box though
Sent from my ST18i using XDA App
I know this is an old topic but I found the solution and some others may have the same problem:
There are two kinds of connectors, they have ground and mic signal switched.
If you get the wrong one it will work but sound (mostly speech) will be very bad, this results in a very poor audio quality.
So just get the correct ones (Apple-Style) with mic or the ones withour mic will also work fine.

[Q] Sound problem with my Tab 4

So I just received a refurbished Galaxy Tab 4 T-230NU in the mail yesterday. Already rooted it once I got it up and going and slapped the Acheron ROM 1.6.5 on it. Everything works perfectly fine. I plug in my Beats headphones and sounds awesome. However, I came from a Tab 2 after having it for 2 years and it is basically the radio of my car using Sungsonic's amazing sounding ROM. I hooked my Tab 4 up in my car, via through AUX cord, and everything sounds fine until I turn the volume up on the tablet past a certain point. Not even all that high really, a good distance from max and all I get is hissing and crackling noises until the music stops playing. When I turn it down back to the half way mark it sounds fine. The issue about this is even with my radio at max the music isn't really that loud. I have Viper and Audio FX going and I manage to increase the volume a little but not enough. My AUX cord is fine and I even tried the cord from my Beats and did the same thing. But as said, my headphones are fine hooked up to it and I can turn it up full blast and I'm good. But when it's in my car is the problem and this is a big deal to me as I rely on this for music in my car.
Can anyone tell me what the problem or solution is for this? I went from changing roms to trying different equalizers and got the same result.
