well the MT4G already has an official 2.3 gingerbread update, but I doubt we'll be seeing sense 3.0 as an official UI. t-mobile uses a modified version called MySense on the mytouch, so at the very most we might be able to get an official update to look like the doubleshot (MyTouch 4G Slide), but I doubt it
whats wrong with rooting?? unless you have the bad chip

Thanks for that.. as you said we might not get 3.0 at lease one more ginger bread update to give us Gtalk video chat? is that on cards?

yes, you can go to a local t-mobile store and they can hook you up there or you can download the update from the development section and flash it in fastboot. Ill try to find the link...

In all honesty, I think that's it for our phones for official updates. The GB 2.3.4 is most likely the last one. This phone is about to hit it's end of life cycle, especially with the new line of myTouch's coming out in a month or so.
And even if we did get an update, which I know we won't, Sense 3.0 is highly unlikely. That firmware is only coming out to dual core phones at the very least. So I think your best bet would be to root and then subsequently install Sense 3.0 via Virtual Unity.

Why people wants so much sense ?

cause sense rocks.
and technically speaking, HTC GLACIER already has sense 3.0
http://www.virtuousrom.com/

THanks for that.. so will T-mobile at least give us a 2.3.5 update with Gtalk video chat? can some one confirm this with T-mobile?

Dang I want sense 3.0 too but I have gb an the downgrade method seems to risky
Ginger 2.3.4 S=Off No Root

So I did the steps for the update and when I restart the phone I see that it found it and its checking it but after that way do I do...I pick the factory reset I think that's what its called..but after that everything is the same...so I need help I don't know if I'm doing it right or leaving a step out

The mytouch already has OS 2.3.5 and sense 3.5 but that's only if your rooted.

it also has 2.3.7 if you flash the latest nightlies of cm7 (no sense 3.5 though, that's another rom :X)

:/
I was hoping that the thread would help me decide!!
I m gonna flash CM6.1 froyo on HTC will be the same experience but faster. its time for something new
I've already Froyo and do miss CM actually, so I'm going for this one, thats for sure!
why there are no news in cyanogenmod website?
I got the link from cyanogenmod website. It's under the nightlies section. Weird but its there

are there release notes?
also wondering if i should flash this or wait for official htc froyo...?
I'm waiting for official froyo but maybe I should try this rom. But I have some questions before
Does it have FM radio? It'll be possible with released sources from HTC?
And wifi hotspot support?
Is root necessary? Can you unroot once the rom is installed? Altought temporary root can be useful (like sudo in linux), being always root is a big security hole. I'm not sure if many people understant what being root means in linux (and android).

No
Not AP, but Ad-Hoc works using barnacle
Yes, it is.
Rooting is not much more of an issue - you still need to specifically give apps superuser permissions
ok so im downloading 2.05 now. willl update to froyo first.
is rooting froyo easier or will i have to downgrade back to 1.31?
hope visionary+ or Z4root work with froyo. that would be a life saver coz download speeds are slow and expensive in my country :S
Anyone compared performance froyo vs CM6.1?

I had the vodafone froyo rom but I flashed CM6.1 as soon as it came out. (used nightlies before)
And CM6.1 is just that bit snappier. If you don't really worry about that split second diffence (but I do) then you should go for Sense (it's nicer )
But I just like a snappy phone (I should have bought the Desire I know )

Yeah, I'm waiting for some feedback. Using MoDaCo's Custom Froyo at the moment. Nothing GREAT, so if CM6.1 is worth it, I will install that.
Let the feedbacks begin!
Just wanted to say that I rooted to Cyanogen before froyo came to the Legend.
All in all I think I prefer it over 2.1 Legend.
It took a few days to get used to and I have missed a few HTC goodies - namely sync and the HTC keyboard (which is suprisingly a mile ahead of the default Android one). But there is a workaround (I've been told) so will give that a try soon.
I'm ever so tempted to give Sense Froyo a go and see what it's like as I don't really have anything to compare it to.
All in all though - I can't really say I've missed Sense too much; I've noticed a few things that stock Android could learn from Sense but on the whole not missed majorly.
If I upgrade to Sense Froyo - can I then root again or am I stuffed?
ta
(oh and rooting was a piece of piss... After I stopped cursing for an hour and realised I needed to downgrade.)

what did i end up with rom wise

i flash all the roms i found and i like this one the best but now i can not remeber where i got it from can someone tell me what i have lol i know its is a funny question but i am lost
You have an HTC Sense based Liberated ROM, version FR008.
thanks so does that mean i am running froyo 2.2 or just 2.2 or something differnet all together
sorry this is the frist time i have ever rooted or moded a phone
Froyo 2.2 is what you got
sent from my HTC Intruder
Fyi froyo IS 2.2...just as gingerbread is 2.3 and eclair is 2.1
Oh yeah, sorry, forgot to add in which OS you're on. Lol, but what they said ^
Thanks again this site has been helpful glad I found it

Can the stock 2.2.1 Froyo be rooted with Unrevoked yet?

Also will wildfire expect gingerbread or is froyo is the latest we gonna get eva?
Hey,
I think it's impossible for now to root 2.2 wildfire (I have the same sh*t).
And the HTC Wildfire is on the update list for 2.3

How do you know HTC Wildfire is on the updatelist for gingerbread?
The wildfire is never going to get official gingerbread. you can root and install a custom rom like jacobs one.

Are you sure? If so, HTC really upset me!
HTC is gonna income the same old sh#t, the wildfire is too slow. The fact is that 2.3 does not have different system requirements than 2.2, from what I know.
Maybe they'll surprise us.....
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
That depends on what HTC will put in gingerbread, i.e. the new ultra-super-l33t Sense, which would require hi-res screen and 1GHz CPU to work fine..
Lol, before froyo was released , there was a million question bout its release date. Now that its out, there's a million question whether it can be rooted or not.

Exactly. Sense. The new black UI is the only change that 99% of people would notice... so if its covered up by sense then there's really no reason for getting gingerbread besides the fact that you've got the latest update. Just go CM7. ^_^

Anyone else think 2.3 vanilla looks better than Sense? I do, especially when you use CM7 and change the theme to CyanBread.

[Q] Guide for my HTC Hero

Looking to root, then flash recovery/a custom ROM onto my HTC Hero 2.1 next week. Is this guide still fully working and valid?:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645253
Also, the radio link doesn't seem to be working, any chance someone can get me a link to that?
Thanks
P.S. Was wondering which ROMS still have HTC Sense on them? Interested in Ice Cream Beast but seems that doesn't have it? Quickest ROM that does anyone?
Thanks
The guide should work, but don't follow the radio part unless you have trouble with the mobile network
I can't tell you a preferred rom as I'm not using my hero anymore

For sense try:
heroinne ++: android 2.1, sense 2.1
rose v6: Android 2.3.3, sense 2.1
Armsense_XE: Android 2.3.5, sense 3.5
These are the best in my opinion
hope that helps.
