No. There will never be any devs for the Fire </sarcasm>
The device is not even out yet. I'm sure there will be plenty of activity. There is nothing for the devs to do without access to the code or the device.

While I understand your side.
Keep in mind a lot of people who are on the fence (hi there, that's me!) Are only going to get off of it once we see what kind of dev support this thing gets.

With the popularity of this thing I think it's pretty much a given, especially because Amazon says they aren't actively going to prevent rooting. This thing is gonna be a beast of a tablet when it's rooted.

dissapointed with fascinate

I am honestly dissapointed with my Fascinate, I bought it because I thought it was going to be very costumizable, with the open loader and all that, the reality is that most devs are not even putting attention to this phone, only a handfull are, I have had it since the first day that came out, and development for this phone is going really really slow, and full of issues.
Relax bro, all good things will come. I was able to mod my phone a lot because these devs are putting all they can into our phone's development.
We already have lag fixes, OC kernels, debloating tutorials, backlight mods, standard unlocking screens, etcetc. Not to mention plenty of themes, apps, and other cool things.
Just relax and take a breather. We got froyo on the way and developers are waiting for that so they can really unleash the beast.

WTF do you need that wasn't described in Post #2?
Don't say Froyo, because that's something EVERYONE wants. My phone does everything I want it to at a blazing speed, maybe you're just lazy and don't look into things deeper. IDK.

Actually, there are devs but they don't have the froyo kernal to work with. SGS international version has the kernal leaked, that's why they have the froyo-beta-ish roms.

Having come from an N1, which is inarguably the most dev friendly Android phone to date, I have to whole heartedly disagree with the OP. It is a little aggravating dealing with Voodoo now and then, and the processes are a little different, but all in all this phone is fantastic.
I have a custom bare-bone type rom built, fully themed and customized to my hearts content. Four installed launchers that each have a completely different style and feel which I can switch at will. OC Voodoo lag and color fix kernel running on interactive thanks to Jt, and plenty of mix and match mods and hacks to keep me flashing back and forth so frequently no one can actually call me.
We do only have a handful of devs working on the fascinate currently. They happen to also be pretty damn awesome, and give us plenty to work and play with.
I have to re-ask the question, what the hell are you actually looking to do that you can't?

good day.
How come everyone who has a bad experience, or is disapointed with there device gets called a troll? Isnt this the purpose of the Forums....to speak your opinion, learn a few things and see if anyone feels the same way?
I remember when everyone ...well people still do make fun of apple fan boyz because thats all they love is apple....but i have the feeling android fanz are becoming the same thing....close minded and haterz!!!
The purpose of android was openess and freedom....so wake up people the trolls are not those who complain about a priduct they paid good $$$$ money fir but are disapointed... the trolls are the haterz and people who beleive that there the best and there way is the only way!!!
Generally because you can sum up their complaints to a) why aren't devs giving me what I want now b) I have had my phone a month, understand very little but need to complain, or c) this phone sucks, I had my g1 for a year and we had tons of mods, dev r teh lazy.
So yeah, trolls.
If they were here to learn... The complaints wouldn't be their posting topics, they would be off learning. They are here to feed off others works and complain.

I gotta disagree with you, the thread is posted in the general section. If hes disapointed with the phone. I think its good if he tells us why. Im disapointed not because of support with the phone but because alot of stuff out the box doesnt work as advertised.....gps lag etc............and yes there are lag fixes but i paid top $$$ for it to work out the box not for me to go find a fix.
either way i think the word troll is used to freely.

I agree with you about the general section & out of the box comment. Its just that there are many other threads with the same topic. But he has the right to post this question, and I was merely asking what was wrong with the phone according to him. Out of the box, the phone is still very capable and it honestly doesnt need to be modded. But the mods are very nice.
Also what phone is perfect stock? There's always cons, and that's why we're on the forums looking for answers.

Why is HTC protecting wildfire so much

yeah i agree, they want to sell you newer devices with new android versions. they must also be pretty mad about the hacked app markets
Its the solemn duty p) of a company to protect its products. No product I believe has a weak security system, and, its always a cat and mouse game between the devs and the company devs. Be it iOS, Symbian, Game Consoles.. etc.
No one likes to see their product "hacked" and to be used in a manner better than it was intended to.
As far as I know the Nokia N900 and LiMo devices are very open to hacking, very much unlike Android, webOS and iOS phones.
Why would anyone protect their properties
Also maybe cos they were planning for Gingerbread release on the Wildfire, and by then they want all devices to be hackproof or something.. jus maybe..

But if they wouldn't lock the wildfire, the chance of getting your device bricked will be lower in my oppinion. The chance that a procedure fails is directly correlated with the amount of steps, and just because the phone is that locked, people have to do 1. a multitude of steps that 2. don't use software of the phone in the way its develloped to be used -> chance to brick your phone.
Compare it to a computer: ever bricked it because you wanted to install an new OS?

That is true
Now, I want to change the phone, because I can't flash rom.

A Great Loss To The XP Community

So I went to check on PSXPERIA and I see this message posted by yifanlu
Update: (01/06/2012) I've decided to sell my Xperia play and discontinue all my work on the platform. Like SE, I lost interest in the Play because of the lack of games and a general lack of content. Also, I cannot stand Android anymore, especially SE's skin. I was looking forward for ICS, but after seeing SE put their skin on that too, I won't want to deal with it anymore. As for PSXperia, I have always released the source and documents for everything I release. I also have a few writeups on reverse engineering the psx emulator on my site. I will no longer be providing support for PSXperia and won't be managing the bug reports on github. Again, everything is open source and under GPL, so anyone can pick up where I left off (for example, improving the UI, future emulator compability, etc). I hope the project won't die!

Just wanted to say this is going to be a big loss to the community. PsXperia was the only program that allowed us to make backups where the analog controls worked and I loved that feature.
Going to be sad seeing him leave this sub-forum and also abandon his projects because he was a resource of knowledge and a helper to everyone he came upon.
I hope this type of "giving up" behavior is not seen anymore because it will really hurt further development for the Xperia Play.
Well hope you do well my friend yifanlu. I hope you have fun with whatever you do next. Atleast one person has appreciated your work and that was me.
I have to disagree about ICS tho. I never was excited about it. Just more useless features I don't want or need
So from myself and whoever else wants to join.
Goodbye and good luck.
If you people have Kindle readers, you'll find him there as well, as he jail broke some of them. Show him your support!
Thanks for everything, Yifan Lu!

Sadly I do not have one.
All i have right now is 2 droid X's and 1 Xperia play locked bootloader
Wow, this really sucks! I do see this becoming a trend, hell last night, while researching some stuff, i was thinking to myself, how tired i was of the lack of content, and i also noticed that even here on XDA, developement for the play has pretty much come to a crawl. I am on here daily, and its been awhile since something BIG and NEW has been published for the Play. I was thinking of paying to unlock BL, but then decided not too, there is nothing, i want, no big accomplishment, that i need, that warrants shelling out hard earned money for a BL Unlock. Pretty sad really, i came from a "Starter" android, not even that great of a phone, but it was SOOOOO easy to flash, root, unlock, and developement was insane! To see this great device, basically sinking, and some good devs, jumping ship, its pretty sad.
EDIT - However on a upside, maybe with the phone being free now we will see an increse in activity, but i kinda doubt it.
Well once a good Rom for locked bootloaders is released with a stock OC ability, I think things will become a lot more interesting.

Exactly, Only a small portion of Xperia Play users have the unlockable bootloader version.
Lack of games? Lack of content? The content's growing so large that I'm usually too overwhelmed to deal with updating my list as frequently as I'd like.
Oh wait... it's just another stealth-anti SEXP Hogwarts thread... moving along.
EDIT: I do appreciate all the guy's done for breaking into PSPocket to make it into what the community wanted it to be, but honestly, it's been the exact opposite case for me - Xperia PLAY's got so much good software on it's own, and has brought so many games from crap touch-screen controls to something that's enjoyable that I haven't really cared to mess around with crap I already beat from 2 generations ago.

I feel like I'm walking into my own eulogy , but I guess I should say that the main reason I left IS because someone offered quite a generous amount of money for my Xperia play, and my other excuses including the lack of content and android sucking aren't enough to have made me part with the phone. So, I don't want to give the impression that I left because I hate Xperia play. Just that I'm a poor student and need money, and I reasoned that I would have enough extra to buy a ps vita, which I believe is exactly what I wanted in the play (well, after someone hacks it, which shouldn't be long). It has useable analog sticks (I could never get used to the touchpads), a big screen, Sony first party support, PSP games. (and I never used the play as a phone anyways)
Again, I really hope that someone will take over psxperia, and that the project won't die. And I'll still lurk here from time to time.
All the best yifanlu, maybe see you hacking the ps vita yourself

When Are We Getting a Better Working Sense 4 and Android 4 ROMs?

At this point, things that don't work are the things I need to work. Nothing has changed for nearly two months now, so I'm just curious.
the impatience and greed around here is unbelievable...
if you want something to be fully working and perfect, you gotta make it yourself. plus rushing things isn't gonna do any good at all. it will come, just be patient... be glad we even have a Sense 4 ROM...
Dude, seriously, it was a question. That's it. Not a complaint, not impatience, and not greed. The assumptions of others on this forum is what is really unbelievable. I knew that some joker would answer back like that.
Saranhai is part of the team that brings a lot of ROM's to this device. He is probably a little frustrated that it seems like is never good enough, or fast enough for people. Your question may have been honest and purely innocent, but with the way things have been around here lately his reaction is somewhat understandable.
Several devs are hard at work on sense 4 kernels and the camera. When they have a usable fix, it will be released. If you want to add to their resolve you could always donate

I'm patiently waiting too. And so you know, I'm posting this in a good mood, not frustrated or being smart. Take it at face value MF. It's my fault that you put your own thoughts into a simple question? Seriously, it's all too common on XDA for people to needlessly attack others on the basis that people are too sensitive.
See the answer that JJ gave? That's all that we needed. I wanted to know the issues the devs were facing? If anything I was concerned, because I've never seen something give this kind of trouble on this phone. We all appreciate the works that devs do. The issue is that there's no HTC official kernel source for any "sister" devices - DHD/DS, and they didn't get the HTC ICS update either. Without the kernel source, devs have to use kernel source from other, less compatible devices to compile the kernel, and the binary drivers from those devices don't match the HW. There are no skilled enough and/or willing enough devs to dig in the kernel code and rewrite the API towards the drivers to match the older, working drivers from Gingerbread (that's what was done back in Gingerbread release time), mostly because it's a huge work that brings almost no benefits - the official code is likely to be better anyway, and its release will most likely be closer to this point in time than the shortest time required for "enthusiast" work.

I think in layman terms, that means if someone attempted to rewrite source code to match the h/w in the Glacier, by the time they would finish, better & more compatible code would be here anyway. So its best, at this point, to just wait patiently?

I guess but at this time with the nexus p there was a lot more development and more then that a lot more development Community involved. I wonder if the Verizon exclusive mixed with Google's inability to keep them in stock on the Play Store the problem.
I think I could care less this time around. I think it has enough mods. The performance on this phone is already unreal. And battery life is more than anyone could ask for
I am bored, however, understanding that an alpha TWRP, beta su, and no xposed yet to be a reasonable impediment for development. Honestly, I am really happy with what is offered so far that maybe I should focus on improving other areas of my life?

Same here just a kernel and I'm happy
My days of crack flashing are over. Stock rooted with TWRP and Elemental kernel and I'm happy. When more custom ROM's are released I'm sure I'll try a couple but I'm not getting board with my XL. Still the best phone I have had.
Blame Google. They changed they way stuff gets flashed n stored. On previous Google devices it was super easy. The pixel isnt a developer phone but a main street device. One to lure Samsung n iPhone users away from those devices

I don't get this comment at all. So they changed things under the hood to lead people away from devices that are (in my opinion) usually used by people that don't care to mod so wouldn't know the difference between how easy or hard it is to mod or not mod..
Show me where any Nexus device was sold as a development device.
There are growing pains plain and simple. And some folks (op) need to realize these guys don't get paid and don't work at anyone's schedule but their own.
Android evolves. It has in the past and very smart people were able to figure it out then and very well may do it now.
It'll happen.
Give it time
Instead of complaining about it why do you go sit down at your computer and make us a ROM?

Pixel development will start once 7.1.1 source drops. Which should be on the 5th. At least that's when I'll start working on DU rom for it.

Knew this comment was coming. Maybe your reading comprehension is a little off so I'll explain. He was asking a question about his perspective to see if anyone felt the same. Don't know where you read a complaint at? Feel free to be self righteous somewhere else

Thing is it is a tad pretentious to complain about or suggest that the device isn't meeting expectations because people aren't putting in enough work fast enough to appease someone's desire to flash.
If someone is that impatient they should've stayed where they were and waited until the device matured a bit more.
That's my perspective on it.

Is anyone bored with their pixels? Seems development for this phone is nonexistent. I miss flashing different Roms on my Nexus 6p. Is it just too early or its going to stay this way.

Nope! It will come as soon as TWRP comes along. Cant do stuff without a solid Recovery.

Same here! And I love making ROMs and cleaning them up! But for now I am happy with Elemental X and stock.

Im smart, I think? Nahhh... Im not. But if I was I would say... It has evolved like stated. Now we have to worry about slots, Kernels, recovery, etc...
Things have radically changed! Its not going to be as easy in the past. Users are bound to mess up there phones which will require more support, etc... This is for sure! Once TWRP gets 100% I will be posting...
Edit: Actually Nexus devices ARE sold as Developer devices...

Yep! Agreed 100%!
Edit: I dont want to just make a ROM with the same system image then add a script to mod it. Thats just me though... I like editing the ROM and making it user editable...
Looking forward to Clean ROM pixel XL!
