New superuser update fouled up my phone - Atrix 4G General

So, I was excited to see a new version of SuperUser available yesterday. I updated and much to my surprise it screwed things up on my atrix pretty good.
Now it doesn't even prompt me to allow permissions for some apps, and just auto denies them the perms. In SuperUser app it self those apps dont show up, so I cannot manually allow them ( even though they are being logged as denied).
Im no idiot.. I can usually work around most problems I encounter.. so I go into preferences and set it to "auto-allow " everything SU permission. The apps STILL get denied. I have uninstalled and reinstalled those apps. No luck there. I guess I could try uninstalling and reinstalling SuperUser but I'm not sure that will work either.
Normally I wouldnt even care, but it just so happens the apps its screwing up on are Adfree and LBE privacy guard. I am not pleased. Looks like I may have to restore this month old nandroid backup I have.
Anyone else had any of these issues with the update??

i got the update (and also an updated su) and everything is working fine.

Everything is working fine for me... (Stock Froyo) *knock on wood*

i dont rly like the update either but it is working but it dont show the apps in the app list

no problems here

I had a problem the other day regarding a binary update with superuser and gave up and reloaded my Rom, works fine now. Luckily backup worked better than I thought and back to normal already.

Also no prob with su.
Instead of reinstalling your old backup, just uninstall the update in the app manager.

If you update it'll say at the bottom "Was that cool Do it again?" Click do it again and it will then prompt you for SU access. I haven't had any issues yet.

Im aquired a copy from CWM Rom Manager and I am on a stock 2.2 rooted/unlocked rom. It works fine.for me and with Super User Elite from the market it really works lovely.

(Q) Phone says its rooted but its not...

Edit : just checked. My phone is running the newest updated but im gonna try to unroot and reroot one more time even though I already tried and it could not unroot.
So I went to install the new update via stock recovery and it seemed to work. I go check system settings and its still showing 2.3.2 and not the newest one. I go to try and root and it says everything works and my phone is rooted. Thing is there is no super user app that appeared on my last droid 2. What's the issue?

Try it again and use the 1 click root for 2.3.20 from here http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/droid-2-discussion/5321-2-3-20-1-click-root.html

It might be that you just lost the app and just need to get it off the Market.

Yeah, I saw it was rooted and just went to market and got Superuser app and installed, I have root. I don't know why it did not show the superuser app even thought it said the apk was transfered.
Mine did the same. After I rooted using the one click method, it said it was a sucess. Tried to use Root Explorer, and it said failed getting superuser permission. Checke my SD card, and there was no Superuser.apk there. I copied it to the SD card from the one click directory, and it was sucessful. When trying to use Titanium Backup, had trouble with Busybox. Titanium downloaded a new Busybox, and all is now well.

Working Superuser for TB Sense

This is actually relevant to more than just the Thunderbolt. It fixes Superuser problems with numerous newer Sense releases.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=886999
My su binary is already being provided via the root thread but the matching Superuser is not. Without the matching patched Superuser, you'll see FCs when apps request root if the Superuser app itself is open.
Just apply the update zip from the aforementioned thread to fix it. ROM builders should use my patched version as well.
Please update to this, I will be fixing the tutorial as soon as I can, and noting it here.
Rafi, good to see you on the bolt. Looks like we will get a virtuous Rom too. Ran your Rom on the inc till I got run over by the desire z, hd craze.
Sent from my Thunderbolt!
Hmm, not sure if I should do this. I ran fix permissions in Rom Manager and it seemed to take care of all the problems. Everything's been working fine since then. What do you guys suggest?

I agree - however, in my case, nothing was solving the FC's - so I put in this SU and all is right with the world.
I think it's worth trying if all other permissions methods are failing - it certainly "feels" more stable.
This fixes su issues while the superuser app is open.
Flash it.
Thank you rmk & jcase
even aftere re rooting fix my su issue i ran this and i feel su runs wayyyyy smoother now for apps that need su.

There is simply no way any newer Sense ROM works correctly without this patched version. You *will* ultimately encounter issues.
Don't believe me, try this. Open up the Superuser app itself, connect via adb shell, su system, su root. Observe hang. This is just an example, there are numerous other ways to have the issue occur.

Honney Villan

I'm using honey villan which has supper user built in. The problem is quick boot and quick boot plus always get denied. I uninstalled booth and reinstalled and get the same problem. It did work, maybe cause super user is bata.. Any ideas
Try running iconiaroot.apk. even though it already rooted, it should replace root access with it's own version.

hope to try!
I had this same problem with hv, i would reroot, re flash a fresh install, it would be good for awhile then super user would force close and deny everything. I went to taboonay and havent looked back.
Sent from my A500 using XDA Premium App
Never thought of that one, will def give it a try.
After testing for a day, the problem is cwm. On fresh install of rom, su works fine, but do a full backup and then restore your backup and you will have no working superuser.
Been checking out taboonay and will give it a try next.

Just tried it and it worked fine, now I can use my backups. Thanks a million. I thought because su was the problem, but I guess it can't run if you loose root for some strange reason. It still breaks using cwm restore. Later on
Hi! I have a problem with audio on HoneyVillain 1.1 with two last kernels (3.2 и 3.3). When I insert the headphone jack into a tablet, a sound through external speakers does not stop
I believe your problem is not just with your rom. I have read others with different rom's having the same problem. I have hv 105a and it's kernal and not hit the problem yet, but I know it's there cause it did it a few times running stock. Just a software glitch. Just remember its a computer.

Beware Superuser 3.04 on android market.

Beware of the recent update to 3.04, there are frequent reports of apps requiring root access not working due to superuser fcing. YMMV.

Uninstall su and reflash your rom
Deck's + SZ + SuperCharger script + ViperMod script.
Oops
Deck's + SZ + SuperCharger script + ViperMod script.
So far unsuccessfull at uninstalling su...theres only the update option from the market...at this point lost..
I have had the same issue. So far the only workable solution that I have come up with is to:
- Delete the App data for Superuser (in Manage Apps).
- Run Super User and change the Automatic Response to Allow (in superuser preferences).
Not ideal because any app that requests su will get it. Have to keep an eye on the log until a fix if there are any apps that you do not want to have su.
Thanks...was able to delete su app data and access su...yet still no access to root apps (su 2.3.6.3)
Just reflash rom

No need to reflash roms or uninstall anything from from your phone guys.... The fix is to uninstall updates of superuser in market.... Once done this go to your applications on your phone and click on superuser app and hit ok when the popup screen comes up.... And your apps that require root access will work once again....

Confirmed. Recent update fixed issues.
my fix was...
Uninstall updates as stated in earlier post ;-) Then a restart or Reboot is all is needed. no need to reinstall the rom thats not the answer.
No issues here, have the latest superuser.
Downgraded, Restarted, rebooted su force closes still...any suggestions?

Good for Enterprise Supercurio Root Keeper anyone get it working?

Hi guys,
Anyone using GFE on there rooted samsung epic? My company checks for root and was wondering if the Supercurio root keeper will work to do a temp unroot and have access to GFE. Any idea if I need to rename or remove superuser.apk if I use the Supercurio root keeper?
Thanks..
Why not just make a backup via cwm and have a stock non rooted rom running? Do they check for just SU or the 9 yards? If so you could odin in the stock el30 package by toadlife, odin a recovery , make a backup and flash whatever rom then if your company decides to check restore the back up and you'll be find
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
The whole 9 yards I'm afraid . That is an idea but was hoping not to flip back and forth from stock to rooted. But if there is no other way it's probably the route I'm going to have to take.
Also it makes sense that it should work but since I never went back and forth from stock to rooted from CWM. The question is coming to my mind will it work? Or do I need to Odin to switch back and forth.
What is GFE?
Edit: why would it even care about root...
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
I use GFE and I am rooted using mostly stock ei22 rom from xbtx. I thought GFE app had some sort of checking for rooted devices not that the company checked for rooted phone. How would the company check to see that your phone was rooted ?

Good For Enterprise, it's an app to get your corporate email on your phone.
I use it, and we don't check for root.... I seem to recall from my GFE training that they can check for it, we don't.
I use GFE and I also have it deployed to hundreds of users at my company. I'm not sure if I'm somehow using a different version of the Good management console, but I don't remember having an option to check for rooted devices? I'll double check tomorrow, but I feel like I would remember seeing that option.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
GFE the app has a check. From what I read it looks for superuser.apk and whatever else is root related. Coworker of mine has the same phone and rooted rom and got a message that the phone won't provision with gfe because against company policy i.e. phone is rooted.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
the donate version of superuser has ghost mode, the apk hides and you can only access it through a dialer code you select. you can set it to refuse and superuser requests while in ghost mode or to allow based of your settings.
can you check for superuser without superuser permissions?
i'm sure you need something more but a chance to plug elite, i couldn't refuse.
Thanks. I'll give the ghost superuser a try. Maybe a combination of SuperCurio rootkeeper and this will work.
Well I got the superuser elite but it looks like ghost mode just hides the icon. Not sure if this will work. As GFE will still find superuser in both the /sbin and /xbin.
Update- Still not in compliance tried both rootkeeper and super user elite.

Unfortunately, this will not work. I'm not sure what doesn't match up, but each time you flash, even from a backup, it will want you to reactivate with the Good server. Fortunately, I work in IT and can get a PIN in about 4 seconds, but for someone who is at the mercy of their IT department...flashing then begging them for a new PIN isn't a good option
Weird. I backup with MyBackup Pro, and I don't have to reset my PIN every time.....
From what i gather as long as you backup good in offline mode. It wont require a pin everytime you flash. I haven't tested this my self but have read people having success using this method.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
That could be, I only turn mine on when I'm oncall.
Can you set your PIN to never expire? Last job we had that, so the handful of users who had it didn't have to get a new PIN every time.
I've been looking for Jailbreak/Root detection, but haven't found it yet. Saw it in a manual but it didn't say where to set it.
Ae these companies you guys are talking about using exchange email servers or what?? What is so different that you are using this gfe app rather than stock email app? I run corporate exchange from stock email app and no issues with being rooted however I am the network admin too though lol.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Supposedly, GFE allows for better data protection. We pay for it because of the potential for PHI* on the device. We do have OMA here, but until we upgrade our servers to Exchange2010 we don't have as much control over the device and can't remotely wipe it if it goes missing.
Or so I'm told. /shrug

So I went ahead and tried to unroot my rom. By just deleting superuser.apk and su by using adb. Only issue I'm seeing is that everytime I reboot su and superuser.apk come back and the phone is rooted again. Any ideas why? Surely GFE will not work if root returns after reboot .
