Just make sure to enable Video Calling in the settings.
Nice job Skype!!
Mark.

Great news. I was always looking at my front camera wondering why it is there.

Thanks for the heads up!

How exactly is it not working? More info please.
Is it force closing or is there no option to enable video in the settings?
I have Revolution 1.2.2 and its working great I have already gone through 3 video calls this morning with no problems.
Mark.

Nice - the only feature I missed.
Tested in and it works nicely on the stock ROM.

finally, tf is getting better n better

Anyone know why Transformer is not listed as working on the market listing, yet it works?
Why is everyone ignoring the best-selling Android tablet, yet always talking about the lesser spotted Xoom and Tab?

OK I tried the video call and it's buggy. it keeps showing pop up on the taskbar. n video from ny side sometime won't show . that's why it's not listed in white list.

Video calling works perfect here...no problem at all

I'm having trouble with it as well. No video call option and it keeps coming up in the task bar that skype is signed in. Trying now to clear data and reboot.
*EDIT: Stupidity is the cause of my problems. Anyone else who is not thinking this morning make sure you are at the main menu in skype and do the following
Menu->Settings
Make sure "Enable video calling is checked"
Works flawlessly now.

front facing camera,anyone?

What are some of the apps that use front facing camera?
Gtalk does not use it?there is no y!messenger in the market either?
How do you guys use this?
gtalk works for me, but you could probably use fring for video chat
Google Talk uses the ffc just fine, in my experience.
how does one start the camera in talk?
I can see the camera icon against my name but I cannot seem init a video chat session. Am I missing something?

I tried Tango on my Viewsonic GTab and it FC'd something fierce. I assumed it had something to do with missing some of the phone components of Android and haven't tried it on the A500.
Anyone have a good experience with Tango?

if your contact has the camera icon on them it means they support it. And then you simply tap the video icon next to them and BAM, it works.
Works flawlessly and amazing too.
damn it, I have useless friends. No one with video capability!

GTalk does work, I have already had a video chat and it worked great. Have to play again but I think the rear cam works also.
Used GTalk with my netbook the other day and it worked great.

Sorry I made the suggestion for tango without actually testing it out. But to get tango to launch without closing you need to have the iconia in portrait with the rotation lock on. However since I do not have a mobile number for my tablet I don't think tango will work
Your friends probably just need to download the video chat add on for their PC or Mac http://www.google.com/chat/video
If you are trying to chat with someone that is using an android phone I believe video chat in google talk is only built in the newer versions of gingerbread

Gtalk PC does support video call ?
http://www.google.com/chat/video?hl=en
http://www.google.com/talk/
so far only web gtalk (so from gmail...) support it
and of course Gtalk Android support
The other person has to be in gmail to do video and if your contacts once they have the plugin there will then be the little video icon I tested the other day with my brother from my iconia using talk to his Acer laptop using gmail chat.. we tried using the Google talk program on his laptop but video option wasn't showing up?

Gtalk with video

Morning all....
Im having issues performing gtalk video calls with desktops, ive read somewhere that this is due to the 3.2 update? Is this right, if so is there any way to get it to work?
Thanks in advance,
Dan
im pretty sure it works in prime 1.9, wich is 3.2
Strange. I use quite frequently GTalk (video conf) and have no issues. The other party uses a PC so desktop. Apart from quite low audio quality originating from my side I can say all else works good.
edit: forgot to add that yes I'm on stock 3.2
Hmm how strange... i just installed Pauls HR9 rom so will see if its possible with that.
so where do you download this Gtalk?

It comes preinstalled with the transformer (called TALK). If not, then Google it
Don't think it's 3.2. Gtalk video chat works fine for me.
Make sure the PC has the video chat plug-in installed.
Hope that helps...
I use Gtalk on my Transformer and my LG G2x all the time with my GF back home (when I travel for work). We've used Tango in the past but it sucks compared to GTalk.
Her phone doesn't have a FFC so it was hard for her to video chat but she has a Netbook with a FFC so I set GTalk on there. I downloaded the Video Chat plugin but was still fishy.
The only way I could get it to work on her netbook was just simply have her sign in to Gmail, then it uses the Web GUI to initiate a video chat. Weird thing is that none of my devices show her as being Video Capable, so she's required to initiate the start of it (which is no big deal).
For what its worth, I use Revolver version 3.2 and whatever Custom Kernel is available in Revolver Parts.

It does work for me too, have to enable in the setting, AWESOME!!!
I loaded it on my stock Tab 10.1 wifi only. Here are my results...
- I can communicate to my desktop but I get a message stating that the connection is too slow for video.
- I can NOT even connect to my HTC Thunderbolt (Android 2.2) phone. I can chat with the phone but video connection doesn't even ring on the phone and vice versa.
- The HTC Thunderbolt communicates beautifully with my desktop. No slowdown and a nice picture.
Seems that the Honeycomb version of Skype still needs to be in the oven until it's done baking.
ooVoo Always worked like a charm...However I did install skype just in case I needed it.

true! skype video calling works for me too.
it works! the quality is not as good as on my laptop... but it works.
just the "enable video" option can be enabled only when there is no active conversation.
Sweet, been waiting for this since I got the tab. Damn annoying the way it used to restart in the background all the time. Says it has been fixed, I hope so.

Im seeing an issue where whenever I send a message, I get the notification "Skype has signed in" which causes video chatting to not work, as its constantly signing in and out...
wifi signal strength was good at the time
currently using HoneyVillain 1.2 with Thor's 3.5 kernel
How do I make video call? I enabled video call under the Skype setting. but don't know how.
Thanks!

-Mic volume has always been an issue, i've nevet been able to adjust it. Not sure if there is a fix available.
-As for video, check the thread of the rom you are on. If it's the same as mine (rooted 3.2 something...) There is a fix in the second post. The problem was with the certs in the rom. Flash the fix, and video will work.
-Disabling status notifications fixed the sigm-in bug for me.

Sorry...found that myself - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18017326&postcount=143
I tried flashing that fix, and the ZIP wouldn't work in CWM. I have a video option in Skype, but when I start a video call, the video flashes for 2 seconds and then reverts to a voice-only call.
Is it solely because I'm on a custom ROM?

Something tells me it doesn't work for 3.2...
wordering if it doesn't work on HC 3.2?
Hey maybe it doesnt work on 3.2
So they seriously finally released an update, but to a outdated OS since 3.2 is starting to be pushed into the US to Tablets, and has been in most other places of the world as is? Skype is really out to screw themselves arnt they?
Mine works and is a US stock 3.2 non rooted OS. I just finished a video conference.
Alright, on 3.2 Rooted, but the rom that has all the bloatware and everything pretty much intact Skype does not do video calls or show ANY of the video options in the settings.
I reverted back to a backup of 3.1, and the app DOES do video call, and show the video call settings.
I don't know what your doing Kekinash, but you've got a magical tablet.
I am on 3.2 stock and like previously mentioned, in order to activate video you have to go to settings from first page and check it.
Then the problem could exist within the root itself for some reason. Cause i have gone into settings on the first page, and their is -no- option for it when i was on 3.2 rooted. The options stopped at the "Display Technical log" check box.
works fine on toobany 2.1b, as said, just enter settings and select the option, and re-login in..
Sounds like it might be kernel related then. I'm on the RichardTrip one that was with ezTerry's ROM.
Am on vanilla 3.2 and video calling is working great. The mic is vastly improved so must be a software issue after all.
Seems the problem are some kernels that doesn't have the proper L4V drivers or the configuration necessary for Skype Video.
As I told you I'm on stock 3.2 US Rom and I have available the video options, and it works great.

As mentioned by myself and one other, we have NO settings for video. Since it's clearly not a HC 3.2 bug, it must be root? That's the only other variable I see staring me in the face, because I'm on a stock rooted 3.2 ROM.
