Question about Library App - Nook Touch General

HI All,
I am using fbReader and Stock Library App. For some Epub fbReader is better and others stock app is better.
I want to divid the whole book lib into 2 parts for 2 apps.
Question is how to tell stock library app only display books in one folder or bypass other folder? How to force library app refresh the books list - I have to reboot the device to do it now.
Thanks.

Working with Kindle

Just getting the Vibrant from a G1 I noticed that Amazon's Kindle comes loaded on the device. If I had some ebooks installed is there a way to load these PDF files or do you recommend another alternative to using viewing ebooks?
i have not tried using pdfs with the kindle reader but the books are stored in /sdcard/kindle/ you could try sticking it there and see if it works
Put it in the dir /sdcard/kindle/ doesnt seem to be loading. Seems like it only registers pdfs/books that you have purchased from Amazon store?
Any other recommendations for a pdf viewer?
Downloaded the RFS and id love to read on the go ;p

I dont use pdfs too often so I'm not the best to answer, but I know there is an official Adobe Reader in the market
I use Aldiko for the books I can't read in kindle.
The official Adobe Reader app is a really good PDF reader in my opinion and it's free.

Same thing with Borders' eReader app. They don't allow you to read epubs or pdfs that you've copied to the phone/sd card manually. They only access your online amazon/borders library.
Aldiko is a good free epub reader.

Ebook widget?

What I'm looking for is a widget that will either act like the Google Books bookshelf (without the Google Books app), or display the book I am reading on my home screen.
Even better, it would actually allow me to read from the widget itself. Or at least open up my reader app to the last page I was on previously.
I found a beta? app called Word Widget. I've tested it on my phone and it works well enough for .doc files but not epub.

Where to store ebooks?

Hello, I am a Mac user new to Android phone. I need some advice. I got several ebook files stored under "book" within iTunes. Whenever I launch an Apple app called iBook, all the ebooks are available in one place. I have connected the Galaxy Note to my MacBook Pro using an usb cable. Where in the Note should I copy the ebook/pdf files to? Is there a specific folder to store these files? Thanks.

If you have adobe reader or any.pdf reader app installed in your device, you can just make a folder in your external/internal storage and place all your ebooks there.
Ps: launch the app and you'll see your ebooks on it.

If you have the common epub format files, you can store them in the folder associated with a epub reader. I store in the folder lumibooks, for example. Cheers!
You can import books into the Kobo reader, part of the Readers Hub. Just place the files into the kobo/spubs folder using the MyFiles app. Then should be able to import them into the app, there is a import option.

Yup, and if you install apps like Aldiko or Kobo your epub ebooks will usually be stored in the "eBooks" folder on your SD card, which will automatically be created.
If you want some other PDF or Epub readers, just search the Play Store for "PDF Reader" or "Epub".
You can also just drop the iTunes mentality from now on. You don't have to use a software to transfer your stuff. Just drag and drop the stuff over to your Note.
I use fbreader and it finds the ebooks wherever they are stored on the sd card in numerous folders

Thanks. Is the kobo/spubs folder created by default? After I clicked Readers Hub, I see a list of folders but there is no kobo. On the top left, I see /sdcard
The home screen of Readers Hub looks nice.
I am also consider ezpdf reader because it is fully compatible with S-pen, has Japanese language and annotations supported.

Reading personal (PDF) magazines on Nexus 7

I have done the search but all I see are people talking about using their Google Play app to view magazines bought from the Google Play store. I have several magazines in PDF format that I would like to read on my Nexus 7. The problem is I have no idea where to view/read them.
I downloaded one of my free magazines from Google play (Esquire) and it looks great, but the problem is I cannot see/find it on the device when I us Airdroid to check the files on my Nexus 7.
So I uploaded a personal PDF file (magazine) to where I thought the SD card/Android/Data/Com.Google.apps.magazines/files but no dice.
Does anyone have a suggestion on if Google magazines allows you to view personal files or if not what app is best for viewing magazine PDFs?
Thanks.
Play Books can only access content from the Play Store. Other content cannot be sideloaded into it. For .pdf try Mantano, Aldiko, ezPDF, or Adobe Reader.
I prefer Mantano.
I downloaded the Kindle App since if im going to download a book, it will probably be from amazon. If you have the app downloaded, you can plug your Nexus 7 into the computer, and put the .pdf files into the folder that says kindle. Then they will show up in your kindle library, along with any other books or magazines you download from amazon
Google should rethink openness of google play
Google definitely needs to rethink their strategy involving 3rd party purchased material. if i have a magazine or book that i want to read on my nexus 7, i shouldn't have to download someone else's app to read it. I now have to go download the kindle app. That promotes amazon and takes away from google books business. We can upload mp3s to google music, why not magazines or books?
Even apple has a built in PDF reader and PDF book shelf in iBooks for your third party PDF's so I'm thinking it's very possible that eventually google will incorporate that feature.

Yes. I downloaded a few .pdf magazines to check them out.
I used a downloaded file explorer to navigate to them on the storage 'card' and opened them that way.
I have installed the kindle app but can not see the kindle folder ! where will it be ?
ok now it shows up

With Kvisoft PDF to flash magazine maker, readers can read PDF magazine in a different way: flash flip pages with flipping animation. No app is needed to install on mobile Nexus. Just convert PDF magazine to flash and upload it, then it can be viewed online on NEXUS anywhere and anytime.
PDF is too easy to copy. That is not suitable for protecting copyright. Publishers and digital magazine maker should think about a safe method to publish e-magazine. SWF flash magazine helps to protect copyright and enable better reading experience.
Moon+reader does just about every file format including PDF. It also easily integrates with drop box and Google drive. After trying all other reader programs I find moon to be the most versatile and really easy to use.

well, after several tries, finally I decide to use XFlip pro software to create view personal files or if not what app is best for viewing magazine PDFs on any mobile devices.
ezPDF Reader
I personally use ezPDF Reader for viewing magazines. I like the flipping effect. Also, Adobe Reader is pretty good and fast.

[Q] How to load personal books, magazines.

Hello,
I am new to the Android world, and I recently purchased a N7 after selling my Kindle Fire (1st gen). The nice thing about the Kindle Fire was that I could transfer my PDF files to the Kindle Fire via USB and the files would show up under the "Docs" app and I would be able to read my personal files.
Here is what I have tried so far.
PDF file size is 88MB
Amazon Kindle app - Doesn't work because I can only transfer 50MB max through "Send to Kindle"
Adobe Reader - This seemed to work the best, but I don't like I have to to scroll down, I would prefer to scroll left/right like I was able to on my Kindle Fire.
Zinio - No idea how I can load my own files into this app, even after creating an account.
Is there a way I can load my PDF into Google Magazine or Google Books through sideloading or rooting?
Is there an free or trial app that would allow me to load my PDF magazines or books and have it look nice and clean as the Google Books/Magazine app does so I can see the cover art and such?
Thanks!
Use Google Drive
Download your pdf to N7 using Google Drive. Get a File explorer (HD File Manager) and just click on the pdf file. It will give you option to open with different apps. Kindle would be one of them.
That worked out great! Thank you!!
What I also ended up doing instead of selecting to open with Amazon Kindle app, I used HD File Manager to copy my PDF to the actual Amazon Kindle app directory and pasted, this way I can directly access the PDF by going into the Amazon Kindle app.
