Music app - Windows 8 General

So I want to being work on a windows eight app for music that is very similar to the Zune UI. Which I personally love, and I think will fit with the metro style windows eight. But am not quite sure where to being, or even how to install it once im done, any ideas? Im thinking of just taking the source code of the windows phone music app, thought?

i think for starters you would need to have the dev version of Windows 8 so u can use the new visual studio to program metro apps

Already doing these things, I have tried coding the music player myself and just cant seem to get it working correctly, I keep deleting the code and starting fresh or spending days trying to fix bugs, then junking it. I would figure it to be alot easier to get a source code for the Zune music player or WP7 music player but I simply cant seem to find one :/

You're joking right? I mean Zune and Windows Phone 7 are close sourced and copyrighted by Microsoft. You can't just lift their code and make it into your own app.
Even if you do manage to reverse engineer their code, you won't be able to distribute your app because as soon as you do, their suits will be knocking on your door.

Not looking to just use there code, but instead to mix it up a bit, or rather make a look alike almost like ubermusic, for android. I acctualy have a friend working on the reverse enjineering now and, not going so well, so im hoping for the best.

Even writing your own code after JUST looking at their code constitutes as IP infringement. You won't really be able to market the app if you do that.
UberMusic isn't really a good example either. Microsoft can sue them as well if they want.

No, they can't, because UberMusic looks nothing like Windows Phone 7's music player.

Android-style Cards (Like on the Palm Pre)

I know everyone doesn't like to copy other operating system with their neat features such as the iphone multi-touch and the icon docks and stuff.
But, i really feel that android can become more successful in multi-tasking but adding what the Palm Pre has which are cards, which are separate windows that encase a certain application, in which you can swipe between each card to run that app, since Android does allow background running apps this can help android users to be more efficient in their multi-tasking and everything else.
Wonder if theres a way android devs can develop code for this to be impliment or does this have to come from the andriod development core to write the files and kernel for this?
any feedback / comments on this is welcome
It would probably be in a form of an application (such as ahome, dxtop, etc), because doing that kind of work to the kernal would be more tedious lol.
P.S. the lakers game made me cry. lol

lets hope devs can start working on this i would pay money for this app!!
and omg i know :/ failed.
but i like i told everyone else its all about money so they just wanted to extend this series more blah.
If anything, Sweeterhome should be able to implement this.. although i don't think it would run as smooth..

Doesn't holding down the home button basically already do this?

Holding the home button just displays the last used apps, regardless of whether or not they are running/open.
anyone else on this?
Of course I'm with you. I think that with Android 2.0 supporting OpenGL ES 2.0, we can see full use of Tegra's 3D UI with its 3D windows showing running applications. Holding down the Home button would take you to this view...

trying to get MP3 Opera link to play/stream automatically

hey all
So I'm putting out music and trying to get the release page in a simple, touch-friendly format. So far, so good...
http://dopanex.com
except that when I click on a link on my TP2 with Opera it asks me where I want to save the MP3, instead of playing/streaming it automatically.
Is there some way to get it to stream on mobile browsers as it does in a desktop browser? Some fancy html perhaps I can include in the page code to make it more mobile-friendly?
Is it just a TP2 thing? What happens when you click a song on your phone?
thanks!
This is the message I get when clicking one of the songs from Opera.. Pretty standard really.. I'll even get that message from the links on a site like this one-> http://www.filtermusic.net/ Who use a lot of .pls extensions and some others..
Nice music btw..

i've been trying to figure this out too. i feel like the Streaming Media app that is on the device should take care of this like how Quicktime does on the iPhone but it doesnt really do much of anything. ive had the phone for about 2 months now and that is one of the things on my short list left to get it working exactly like i want it to. so if anyone knows how to force Opera multimedia files to stream automatically i'd really appreciate it if you'd let me know.

[$$$] Android Development Job

I have a friend that's starting up a gym/health club to the likes of Lifetime Fitness, but a tad smaller in scale. He's looking for a MASTER Android programmer to help him develop (paid of course) a proprietary Android build or app for strict clientele management. The build/program must:
Be a proprietary product (in other words, no android marketplace/app brain postings)
Send/Retrieve Client info via WiFi or Tethering
Catalog customized client workout profiles
Catalog hundreds of exercises with visualization animations
Catalog various customized diet and supplement programs
Send a workout log to clients via email after every session (for Record Purposes)
Must front-end to a customized windows data managing program
Database must be easily editable on a PC.

If anyone is interested and willing to take on such a huge challenge, PM me and we'll go about setting up a meeting (Face to Face or Netchat) with the guy.
Hopefully someone here can help him out.
IMO i dont think youre looking for an android develroper . You're kinda looking for a person that can set up a windows exchange server . My dad does this kinda stuff . but hes not an android developer.
he knows how to setup a server for a business like this i thinkk

Hmm.. think your right, Unless the [OP] already has a working server otherwise an android dev
I'm sure he doesn't give a care what it is that someone is called or what job title someone needs to be called. He just needs it done. So if anyone can do this, let me know and we'll get things rolling.
Figured I'd hit the XDA forums first seeing has how you guys can do just about anything. He's giving it one more week, and then opening the job up to a firm. If you want the cash, respond.

Well, the title has 3 dollar signs, so I assume the pay would be pretty good

WP7/Zune Style Android Music Player (Proof of Concept) - AppInventor

This is my first app showing a proof of concept WP7/Zune themed music player app for android built using AppInventor. I've heard there is a better one being made not on AppInventor (TheRedDrake), but it was just a proof of concept, and i wanted to experiment on AppInventor.
Also, can you do much more on AppInventor? Because i'm not sure if you can access files or not at the moment, and do much else - the music files are embedded in the app at the moment. Anyways, tell me what you think of the app, and if appinventor can access files or not, and if it is worth to keep trying things in appinventor. Thanks!
(App works fine on Samsung Galaxy S i9000) (Both music tracks in the app work)

Appinventor is limited because there is no Java coding support. Yes you can make a music app but that's all. No zune software compability. Yes you can try going on but I suggest going to Java development.
So there is no real way of automatically creating a list of music files from a phone and putting them into the app through app inventor?
Also what would be the best way to start going into java development? Im relatively New to it, but i do know about eclipse and such, just not java or actual coding and development. Thanks.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
P.s. has anyone tried the app yet?
Also im thinking of maybe adding internet radio functionality to it (to see just if it would work), and with album art etc, if AppInventor would permit it...
The link doesn't work
Xda app
download link fixed
Tried your app and again I got assured of the limitations of appinventor. Go to the official android developer page. Everything you need is there. There is another dev wanting to develop a zune player contact him and work together, he has a post on my thread. If you both agree you can take part in my project.
Xda app

Another proof: Apple is spying on you!

Ok, this ain't really a developpement post [sorry for that!] but I'm sure that, like for me, it will makes you real glad to be an Android user.
I kindly invite your to read this thread:
http://technaute.cyberpresse.ca/nou...urdhui-sur-cyberpresse_267_article_ECRAN1POS2
it is in french, but if you like to call yourself a dev, then I'm sure you know how to use a webpage translator .
In short: iphones and ipad are kepping unsecured data of all your geo-localisation on your phone and any computer that you synch to.
Isn't this hughe and nice of them !!??
So attention all of you cockold of this world, Apple with all it's kindness is making your life easier to confirm your status.
hehehe!
Big writeup today on Tech Republic as well. If iOS was open source they could rip it out like when Sprint CIQ was ripped out of the Epc 4G. Thanks K0nane!

You gon be disappointed:
digitaltrends.com/mobile/android-phones-also-track-user-locations/
Is that true? Does anyone know where is that database stored in Android?
And even if this data is being recorded, wouldn't it be possible to fix it as Android is open source?
Its stored on google's servers and yes you can turn this off on the android so none of the applications can track you! Killing your gps/3g/and data means they cant track you there are even anti gps apps that will tell them your in some other country. So just because some apps can doesnt mean they always do like on iOs. Its all about what apps you have installed really and what they're doing the easiest way to see this is with adb....adb logcat command while your phone is plugged in usb. Youll see google services running calling on your gps location and data collection you can see the code its plain as day!
Heres an old ss i had of what it looks like!↓↓↓

What the guy said below me is not true but hey whatever you want to believe... They store your data because its worth money plain and simple...
Its worth money to marketing and analytical firms! Google knows more about you than YOU do!
They know your darkest secrets whatever you typed into google they know...
They've even developed software to collect and categorize all of it... So saying that Google is the devil LoL
