Microphone and Webcam?? - Windows 8 General

Hi,
i have installed windows 8 and i am loving it but i have the same problem when i installed windows 7, the camera and the microphone aren't working. I have a compaq cq60-214EM. i have been on the hp website for drivers and i clicked on windows 7 32 bit and there's no driver for it but there is a driver for it in the windows vista section.
Can someone help me as i want to use them to call family.
Thanks in advance

use vista drivers

or try 7zip see if you can extract the exe file if yours is one for your 7 driver.
use control panel, device manager, update driver, browse my computer for it...but its down to hardware with the limited drivers available in W8. My R780 all works fine as is

thanks but i went to the device manager and i cant see the camera or the microphone. but i can't find the driver for the computer i have looked everywhere.
also a quick question about windows 8 where is the option for restart or shutdown ?

Windows 7 x64 wont connect

Ive tried searching now for about 2 hours for a fix.
Ive just installed windows 7 x64 pro and i can not get it to work with my HD. It will not recognize it at all. Ive had various problems, always seems different.
Ive tried turning off the enable fast data. This changed the problem, but didnt fix it.
At the moment, i have that enabled and the problem from what i can tell is, in device manager Microsoft Windows Remote Adapter is not working.
If i disable fast data, i get a connecting to host message on my HD screen and nothing else really happens.
Ive tried updating the USB drivers, but that will not work, something to do with unsigned drivers.
Under mobile devices in device manager i get PocketPC USB Sync instead of the HTC usb Sync thing.
Is there a solution for this please?
With me it worked on windows 7x64 straight out of the box. I suggest re-installing win 7.
I'd have to agree, using Windows x64 Professional here and both my Touch HD and my partners work fine (I had to allow Windows to download an updated version of Windows Mobile Device Center first though).
I do not suggest reinstalling Win 7. Geez. Sorry, but that's using an axe to trim a toenail.
Try downloading and reinstall the x64 version of Windows Mobile Device Center. Make sure you get version 6.1. Do not download any driver updates meant for Vista - you don't need them. But this main file will be marked Vista - it includes you too.
Next, it's possible that when you first plugged in the blackstone, a driver install got canceled or didn't happen right. Use your hardware manager and look for any new generic devices or HID devices. You can try deleting the hardware from the list and asking device manager to look again.
MAKE SURE YOU CLOSE WINDOWS MEDIA CENTER.
Good luck.
Installed windows 7 last week.... i mainly use this pc at home and at work i use XP.
Anyway just connected it now to my notebook and after some driver downloads from windows the phone works fine...
make sure u download the latest mobile device center.
I had the same with my Topaz and windows 7. The fix was to disable the windows firewall while syncing.
This solved my sync problems with Windows 7 ultimate x64
Open notepad
write the text : net localgroup Administrators LocalService /add
save the file as e.g. HTC.bat somewhere on your hard drive where you can find it
Locate with Windows Explorer the .Bat file you just edited
Rightclick on the bat fil
select "run as administrator"
restart your computer. Your HTCH Touch HD should connect without problems

[Q] Problem updating the ADB drivers

Hello,
Just an average XDA noob speaking here. Reason i'm creating this topic is because I'm having problems getting the ADB composite drivers right. Previously I've rooted a HTC Hero without any problems, but with my Huawei U8800 Ideos X5 I just can't fix it, I searched in all corners of the Internet. Below are my specs.
- Android 2.3.5
- Unbranded
I've also tried to root with SuperOneClick and by replacing the boot.img, but I can't get it to work because of the drivers.
When I get to recover mode (the pink/purple screen) it isn't showing me the IMAGE folder on my computer. Also tried to install new drivers for the ADB composite by using the H:/Mobile Partner disk on my phone but that isn't helping either. It says their isn't any new hardware found in the folder, but as you can see on the image, there are still exclamation marks. I Also uninstalled the drivers a few times and tried to re-install them but that isn't working neither. Firstly my phone was recognized as an Other device > Ethernet Controller in the device manager screen. But that was possible to solve by browsing to the H:\MobilePartner\Drivers folder.
By the way, when in recovery mode plugged in the computer, it shows me two drivers called "HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES". I can't seem to find a good driver for those, they also show the !-mark.
Any help will be appreciated! :good:

maybe you can try to install this driver from huawei.. it worked for me..

What's the best way to do that? Just delete them from the device manager screen and letting them re-install automaticly by the phone? Or just download drivers from the internet and install it manually?

if u r doing manual driver installation, then its best to disallow auto-installation by windows..
delete all instances from device manager, or u may use an application called "USBDeview" to remove the usb drivers.. and i think this second way is probably doing it more cleanly..

Thanks man, gonna try that tomorrow after school.
Will keep you updated.
Sorry for the late update, forgot about the topic... I threw away all the drivers, got the pinkpurple screen and connected to my pc. It's now missing this drivers when connected, Windows can't install them itself. Check the printscreen below.

Ok ty, I started over, deleted all the drivers and let Windows install the drivers themself. Still not working. I find it very strange why Android Composite ADB Interface pops up 4 times in the device manager... As you can see, he installed one by himself >> https://(w)(w)w.dropbox.com/s/lttgky3qozhraf9/kak4.png

[HOWTO] Installing HTC Drivers for adb/fastboot on Windows 8

Mod Message: OP's link is down. Please search the comments to find other's mirror. But please remember to use AV software to scan before you proceed to install, in case of malware or virus!
Instructions to installing HTC Drivers on Windows8 64Bit:
==========================================
1. Download the Windows7 (64 Bit) drivers here - Removed
2. Unzip to any location you want. Just remember where you put them.
3. Plug in your phone to your USB cable.
4. Open your Device Manager (Windows Key + X and select Device manager) and locate HTC under Other Devices and right click on it and select Update Driver Software
5. Select "Browse my computer for driver software"
6. Click Browse and then select the folder you unzipped with the drivers in it then click next.
7. It should now install your drivers and then in your device manager it will now show up "My HTC" under Android USB Devices.
Hope that helps anyone having troubles getting USB/HTC drivers working on Windows 8 (64bit).
*NOTE* I'm not sure if this will be the same for you guys but I had to plug my phone into USB slot 2. USB slot 3 would not work.
Just a little heads up

Been trying to get the driver to work on my W8 laptop for my E3D. This worked for it after spending hours trying all sorts. Thanks a million. I will be sure to go through to the other thread and say thanks too.
If only I saw this before I spent hours last night trying to get adb to recognise my phone. I somehow got there in the end but this would've saved me a good two hours!

i can't install a driver for the MTP device. should it be in that zip? i'm trying to get it to install from that directory and it says it can't find a driver for it....
Tried this technique and it still won't work.
Here's what I'm doing
- Uninstall all current drivers & HTC Sync
- Restart PC
- Your method exactly
- Restart PC
Phone when on normally connects to adb just fine,
but when I put it into the bootloader it takes around 15 seconds to detect it and then says it's unrecognised and gives the error below:
Device doesn't start. (Code 10)
A request for the USB BOS descriptor failed.
Any help would be appreciated. For now, I'm running a copy of W7 on an old 2.5" drive... not ideal.
Tried this technique and it still won't work.
@petedavison93 and the owner of this thread, did you guys find a fix to pete's issue as I'm having the same issue as Pete, please help!
Had the same issue and installed different drivers several times without luck.
It was fixed for me by simply plugging in the phone into an USB port at the motherboard. The front USB and additional USB3 ports at the PC were not working, when the device is booted to the bootloader. They are working with adb only, when the phone is running normal.
I am running Win8x64.
Great Instructions

Anyone happen to know where I can find some windows 7 32bit drivers. Windows 8 32bit isn't a fan of 64bit software.
It isn't a problem with the HTC drivers. It's the usb drivers from Ms for Intel 3.0 bus. I found a thread that I'm searching again for that give the instructions on replacing the signed ms driver with an unsigned win 7 64bit host controller driver. It's two files and you need to first allow unsigned drivers in windows security. Needless to say it's fine now on my 3 ports.

Windows 8.1 can't find MTP Driver

So now that I upgraded to 8.1, my SGS4 no longer connects to the computer. Under Device Manager I can see the MTP listed with an exclamation mark. The error is:

The install class is not present or is invalid.

Well it sure helped me. Thanks willdmo!:good:
Just today I installed Windows 8.1 N pro x64, the "N" versions means it excludes windows media player (I never use that **** anyway).
It's quite ironical that I ended up installing it anyway... damn you microsoft.
The update is called "Media Feature Pack for N and KN versions of Windows 8.1" < if you search that you'll find the download page, I don't have privilege to post links here.
My problem was just as everyone else's here - my Motorola Razr M XT907 did show up as unrecognized MTP in device manager.
After applying that "pack" and rebooting, it works normally.
F you microsoft.

F*** Microsoft.
Just learned that after installing windows 8.1 and kit Kat.. It will not recognize my phone... I have everything setup properly. Do not manually install
The drivers... It caused my phone to wipe every time I powered off. Which meant having to re flash all over again... Reflashed stock. I'm not sure. But maybe with kit Kat you need nexus 5 drivers...

+1.
I tried latest Samsung usb drivers from XDA post. It doesn't work (erratic bebavior mounting/unmounting drive repeatedely)
Edit: Finally I succeeded in mounting internal SD to PC on windows 8.1. Just to share my own experience:
- I installed Samsung USB drivers v1.5.15.0. (not sure it is very important to get this version rather than the last one 1.5.29.0) and rebooted
- And I changed my data cable (for the same model, but appeared to work better)
- when I plug the 'good' cable it opens immediately the SD card in explorer
- when I replace cable with former one, back to errativ behavior.

Enabling USB Debug Mode solved my problem.
I solved my problem by flashing the latest german 4.3 rom now it works like a charm.
I also had blocked some some unnecessary system apps, which was considered safe to disable - using BootManager http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432359
And also some apps samsung apps were greenified
After I had all the system apps re-authorized, and had updated to 4.3, it went smoothly.
I hope this can help someone who just forgot to re-enable some "important" apps

no driver worked......i try clean install of windows 7 and use my driver cd but,,there is no sound
So you formatted again and did another install of Windows 7, and it still doesn't show up? Is it onboard audio? Check the BIOS to ensure it's enabled.
Google brings up a lot of results, have you tried looking at them? What does Device Manager show?
If it still doesn't work, the sound card/motherboard if onboard might be dead.
I can't count on two hands how many people, including myself had this upgrade problem. Always audio or video.
Firstly, I'd check to see on the notebook/pc manufacturer website if they have Windows 10 drivers for your model. That's the best place to start.
Some older drivers are getting automatically updated through Windows Update. It seems Microsoft has encouraged some key driver updates. E.g. Intel integrated graphics.
Lastly, uninstall the driver, reboot your computer, now, install the driver again under compatibility mode for the version of Windows you have.
For audio, compatibility mode worked. Get this. My notebook came with Windows 7. The Windows 7 driver works (after about 20 attempts) but the Windows 8 driver doesn't. My understanding is that Windows 8 drivers are a bit more compatible with 10 than 7. But the 7 driver actually worked better.
Let us know how you get on.
