I have a system dump of the Desire Z and since I do not see a development subforum, do I break any rules by posting the download link here? I would assume mods would make the new subforum and move the thread anyway.

Well I was trying to mirror it for you guys but for some reason the site I use to mirror Evil's HD ROM won't take it. Keep getting an error majority way through lol.
May have one up eventually today if anyone needs it.

Actual device. Check the thread I linked to in the first post. Wasn't mine and I din't have it for long so I just tar'ed the system directory.

very very late at the party....i have to recover some photos from a hard bricked htc desire z ....can anyone help me with the dump files in order to debrick the phone?
I am atempting to install the mms.apk from the fascinate onto my epic.. It doesnt want to overite the original file. I like the messaging app from the fascinate better than epics. It has a better look in conversation mode.. Please help..

Did you delete the original mms.apk and replace it with the one you want. Using root explorer makes it easier

I tried flashing this zip .. It removed the original messaging app no icon.. But didnt install the fascinate one
Yea that's odd? Try using root explorer and see if that works. I'm not at my laptop right now to try it out

im gonna try root explorer .. I think it has to do with the actual mms.apk . Maybe it needs to be fixed.. Cause to my knowledge other apks that are transferred from another rom dont always work and need to be fixed or modded so they dont force close.. =( thank u for your effort i hope u get it working !

That was great.
As far as a solution to a not so savvy user. Use the sdx app. First copy the fascinate mms to your sdcard in the sdx backup folder. Then remove stock mms then restore faginate mms. Personally I use the eclair mms with no limit mod and inverted. (Black)

You are correct that this should be posted in the correct forum but there is a correct way of posting and you did come off as being a bit rude. I myself am frustrated by all these noobs not taking the time to read the forum rules regarding posting. Regarding the the childish remark you guys are saying about each other you guy are better than this and please stop tarnishing xda with useless posts. whats the benefit of this mms apk
Any devs that actually read this forum, the title says it all. I've been using mdj's cyanogen mod 7 v 2.6 and I love it, but would like the new market. I've tried to install manually several times. There's an older thread in this forum that provides some instructions, but it didn't work.
Ideally, I would like to flash as an update.zip in CWM, but any thing that works is fine.
Any help is greatly appreciated
Mods: if I don't get a reply or a working fix within a couple days, I would like to re post in the developmental section. Let me know if this is okay.

Ok so i used the htc kitchen ported this over, cant flash clockwork tells me expects two args got three args. If anyone can repair these issues maybe we can get it done!? Im noob to the porting and development of roms but i know lots of people would love to have this so heres what i got.

Script errors are *MOST* likely your problem. Have a look at preludedrews thread in this sub-forum. It'll explain the differences in the mounting. You can look at the update scripts in the other mods for Speedy and see the differences.
I'd just resign the zip and make sure the update script is setup for emmc partitions. If no one's helped a bit later I'll look at it.

Try manually copying the update-binary file from the shift base to the rom your porting over.
Trying that now. And either i did it wrong or that doesnt work lol.. ERROR: No system folder found. I assume you meant to copy that and then porting threw the kitchen? If not i tryed also just copying that file then trying to flash, didnt get an error just an installation aborted this time..

Yea probibly be better to use the sniper911 dump instead of porting a port. I ran this through the kitchen and got a zip that gave me bootloops, havnt looked into itanymore though.

I have tried to port each and every port or dump i have found. Just saying. none of them would even install for me untill the guys helped me fix some script stuff and i copied the other bianary from a working rom over. But if you need beta testers please let me know! I will gladly use your rom if you get it going.

You don't have to flash it.........also I think they just uploaded it in the development section under 4.22 ROM or Google it their are plenty of other sources available............so to each its own enjoy either way happy flashing
xda forums already has the deodexed and odexed rom
is this the sprint ota that came out today? zipped up and rooted for us? or is it an older leaked version? i dont want the leaked version gps and other things just dont work on them.

Actually some have encountered problems with broken WiFi.....netflix.....and something else I believe but its derived from the OTA itself not necessarily the download provided in the link check the development section under 4.22 ROM to see if there have been any corrections
nice, seems like everything works. tried 4g, tried wifi, tried taking video. still see superuser in my apps. over 350mb of memory free(that's awesome) now time to remove all the stupid sprint stuff.
don't see netflix in the market though. sure it will com pretty soon. only see que managers for netflix
