Huawei U8800 PRO - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

I just saw that Huawei launched PRO version, they even have firmware for this and website page http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwide/technicaIndex.do?method=gotoProductSupport&productId=3780 but there's is no info about specifications of phone.
I'm guessing what may be new in that "pro" version. I think it's for Europe only cause softwares are released for europe counties, one of them is mine ( http://page2rss.com/page?url=www.huaweidevice.com/worldwide/downloadCenter.do?method=doListSoftware) and spain.
Maybe somebody knows something more about it?
They also have some Linux package for it http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwi...=toDownloadFile&flay=software&softid=NDE1MTM= still don't get it what that package do Drivers or something like source code..

It has a upgraded 1Ghz CPU and some various hardware kinks worked out -
Also I'm guessing it will run Gingerbread with the Huawei launcher/skin.
Btw - do you have a method for downloading any of the files/ROMs which you found on the huaweidevice.com website using the page2rss cache ?

Looks like this version got a radio: Analog:Radio Receiver: FM radio (87.8-108MHz) ? (from Hayden18's link) Maybe that is why our u8800 got a radio chipset..

**** HUAWEI than! Just bought X5 and they released PRO version and the price is the same... My carrier sells it for 280$ (i'm guessing that it's PRO version cause i saw in firmware list that they, carrier got firmware for just PRO version).
And no i was unable to get any of those download links from rss feed
But version was 2.2.2 not 2.3

Any possibility to get our FM Radio to function with this Phone's ROMs (or something)?
Or is it a completely different qualcomm chipset? I miss my FM Radio when I commute...

Without custom ROMs the PRO is useless even tough it might be a bit faster.

people, it's not faster, that cpu is almost the same as regular x5's one which huawei CHOOSE to set clock to 800 mhz. only pro in pro xD is 4gb internal storage.

They chose to set it to 800MHz because it's an 800MHz CPU! Read the specsheets for the MSM7230...
The pro uses a MSM8255, 1GHz chip same as the Ideox X6.

Exactly my friend is a newer generation of processors, btw it has 2gb for internal sd and 1gb for applications, FM radio.
And no it doesn't have Gingerbread, it has 2.2.2
Later i will submit a print screen of the phone options.

It's not newer generation. They're both Snapdragon S2.

Snapdragon is not the cpu itself, the cpu is called scorpion. The Snapdragon S2 systems have scorpions with 800MHz (our u8800), with 1000MHz (the Pro), and scorpions up to 1.5GHz... maybe these are all different scorpion-processors, maybe not. I am not sure if this always is the same processor with a different clock-setting.

infact i don't see any differences just pro uses 1Ghz by default, and x5 800mhz. But i think both are overclockable to the same freq. And both have tha same Adreno 205 Gpu. Also pro supports HSPA+ and i think many people don't give a crap about it Because that speed is just theoretical as everything in pc world

We see in this link, the U8800-51 for Brasil-Claro. In the Huawei site we see also that new type.

The Processor in the X1

Coming from the Rokr E6(that came out in 2006) that has a intel PXA270 Rev7(v51) processor, a part from the built Ati graphic chip in the Qualcomm I am very dissapointed. I know the the processors are different but come on, The E6 was clocked at 312MHZ and could be boosted to 530MHZ and 624MHZ and was a single core processor. Today I got real excited because I found this app called nueCPL-ClockSpeed v1.3 thinking finally I will be able to this push Duel core Processor higher than a measley 528mhz.Sadly, come to find out the app limit to push the processor was only 528mhz. I posted a screen shot to show. Does anybody that knows the ins and outs of the Qualcomm MSM2700, know if it can be pushed higher than 528MHZ and would be so kind enough to list the apps that can do it.
After searching this forum for some type of answer, I came to the conclusion that I'm never buying a phone with a qualcomm processor again.

lol, you aren't the first person to express disappointment with qualcomm.
It's not a bad processor, but for our smartphones (which the average XDA member probably requires a lot of CPU power) it is a little weak. I think the average Joe with a stock WinMo phone would be fine with it, but I must admit I am underwhelmed.

on this site you have mostly all smartphones and their processors. and its said that 528Mhz is the Max recomendable speed so i gues its not possible to set it to more then 528MHz. but if you look at devices with these processor X1 was one of the first that used this processor. and even this year there were good phones that used this 2 year old processor technology (HTC Touch Pro 2, HTC HERO). Shure its no 1 or 1.5 GHz Snapdragon but i think its a fine processor. N97 has weaker processor and alot of folks think N97 is better than X1 (I still dont agree with them).

thank you for the link, it's not a bad processor but it's defiantly to weak to run WM, My phone freezes everyday which is freakin ridicouls I've never had this problem with my old phone which had a far less superior processor, then again my old phone ran linux and I'm using the original rom that came with the phone but still thats no excuse for having to reset my phone every day and even running the latest thigs to improve perfomance like advace config etc.....

Is it true or not? I found something about the battery status app showing only 400MHz, but someone said that 400MHz is the max frequency battery status can show. Then i found something with the Xperia X2 info tool (dont know the name) showing 400MHz, too.
I downloaded nueClockControl, it shows 528MHz.

The frequency IS 528MHz. Try the JBenchmark estimator if you don't believe nueClockControl:

Some MSM chips can be overclocked. I have had my TP run at 800Mhz before.
Check THIS out.
Pretty sure it won't work with the X1 but who knows.

Unfortunalety it's not working with X1 (stock german ROM). The phone freezes instantly when i confirm the Clock change to 768 MHz.
I was a little disappointed of the X1, when i tried to run Super Mario or Mario Kart on SNES Emu (not to mention Metal Slug 2 @ FinalBurn, it's even worse). I thought this would be working better with more than 500Mhz and 256mb RAM. I hate to play games without sound.
I wish it would be as good as a PSP at 222 MHz. Ok, PSP has only 480x272, but also it has only 32mb RAM and only 2mb RAM for GPU.

I feel your pain. Add me to those who are disappointed with the Qualcomm 7200 and will not buy another WinMo phone without a 1 GHz processor. Otherwise, here are some confirmations and other observations:
- The current X1 processor DOES run at 528 MHz as others have mentioned above
- It CAN be overclocked to 768 (or so) with neuOverclock and it's like a sweet dream, but...
- neuOverclock is highly unstable. Most of the time it simply freezes the phone, requiring a reset. For some reason I could only usually get it to work about once a day, no matter how many variations I tried (eg in airplane mode etc etc).
- Unfortunately the genius (seriously) who developed nueOverclock has gone completely silent on his web site and is not still developing - huge bummer in my opinion. I would make a big donation to anyone who could provide a solid overclocking program, and I bet I'm not the only one.

thank you two for the info, I defiantly going to try nueOverclock out.I was actually looking for something in the 600-650mhz but 800mhz is impressive. Edit: well like expected it hung the phone instantly, O well maybe I can get ahold of the developer and incourge him to continue this project

If someone could really develop a stable overclocking tool, i would pay for that too.
I'd like to buy a HD2, but without a contract(subscription) it costs over 650€ here in Germany.
Even with subscription it costs 220€ + 35€/Month for 2 years.
I can only dream of 1GHz Snapdragon and 4.3 inch screen
PS: I bought my Xperia for 280€ (with 8GB Micro SD) from Ebay in September.
The previous owner paid 720€ (without subscription) at release ...
PPS: Iphone 3GS 32GB is about 850€ without subscription, thats kind of weird
Damn.. I was rlle excited to see some people as frustrated as me with quads performance and were looking for ways to improve it but the fact nueOverclock just freezes is a letdown also. I hope someone can find the creator or another usefull method!! let the search begin!

1 GHz or 512 Mhz ?

All tools i used to identify pocessor speed says that on my Loe CPU clocked at 512 MHz.
Is there any proof of 1GHz ?
Most such tools need to specifically support a CPU to give you a reading. Its probable that none of them support snapdragon. It could also be giving you a reading based on power saving throttling.

If they say 1Ghz then it is 1Ghz or else they're going to have a lawsuit on their hands. Nothing in between(except of course scaling).
I have the galaxy s and im pretty sure its 1ghz.. at least system panel tells me its 1ghz but singapore set are all 16gb model.

so maybe the 8gb are down clocked?

It's 1 GHz, I checked the clock frequency with a monitoring application and it's dynamic but when required it clocks up to 1 GHz.

I don't have a link to that claim, but I think it was Gizmodo in their testing of the iPhone 4 and iPad noted the iPad did feel faster and the web browser rendered pages faster, despite both using the A4 processor. They hypothesised that it is the same architecture CPU in both, but different clock speeds.
After all, to get 10 hours out of the iPad the teardowns and x-ray scans show about 80% of the volume inside is all battery. If the iPhone 4 and iPad had the same processor, you'd think the iPhone's battery would be pretty bad considering the far smaller volume (although smaller screen not sucking as much power).
Wouldn't be surprising. After all, the Motorola Milestone / Droid has a mild underclock, as does the Acer Liquid to preserve battery life.
Probably cheaper for Apple to only have to manufacture 1 chip (the A4), but clock at different speeds appropriate to each device's battery life.
Apple doesn't focus as much on specs though, more that the user interface feels fast and smooth. If it achieves that purpose no need to worry about numbers, whereas since we have so much choice of handsets on Android specs do make a difference for us to know depending on our needs (eg: price vs performance vs battery).

The Galaxy S has a 1 GHz CPU. However, the clock speed is lowered while not needed to save battery life, just like on any modern PC. By default it is using the conservative governor.
The iPhone4 never was supposed to get a 1 GHz CPU. Apple never disclosed the number. But those who made benchmarks estimated the clock speed at about 800 MHz since is is about 20% slower than the iPad.
There is a Galaxy Lite version in some other countries that only maxes out at 800 Mhz

He might have got mixed up, but the final 2.2 build for the Samsung Galaxy S is maxed out at 800 MHz for some stupid reason…. I’m going to flash it tonight again with a earlier build of 2.2 as I did some bench test and its only scoring a measly 900 points with the latest firmware installed.. Were as before it was scoring well over 2k…

Tegra 2 overclocking?

Any info out there about this baby overclocked? Will standard overclocking tools work or does new software need to be devloped?
To overclock the cpu I think you'd need a custom kernel that allows it first. But if the bootloader is locked then custom kernels can't be flashed.
You won't have to worry about performance issues with tegra 2 for while though .
As if you needed to run Crysis on it?

This site is here for getting the most out of devices. Rooting and removing bloatware increases performance. Customized ROMS increase perfomance and user experience. I merely asked about another tool for optimizing a device.

Haha,don't underestimate the people who hang out at XDA and other dev sites, we find ways to work these phones to the bone. I know for myself I will have probably 100 apps downloaded and installed in the first 24 hours, and will be testing its limits.
You have the best cpu in a phone ever and you want to over clock. Wow. Why?

Snapdragon is the worst CPU for 1ghz. Even the TI OMAP is better than Qualcomm. The main reason wont buy anymore HTC phones is because of Qualcomm and there ****ty performance in phone in comparison to Samsung, TI, and now Nvidia.

Snapdragon is far from being the worst CPU, clock for clock. First of all, Snapdragon is not a CPU, is a SoC (System on a Chip), and the CPU core inside Snapdragon is called Scorpion. Scorpion is neither a standard ARM Cortex A8 nor A9 core unlike the CPU core inside the Hummingbird/TI OMAP/Nvidia Tegra. But it can be thought of as among the same class as Cortex A8 CPUs. The Scorpion has some big advantage over standard Cortex A8 core in some areas (e.g. floating point). The reason why many found the first generation (in Nexus One and HTC Desire) to be "slow" was that they look only at composite benchmark like Quadrant and/or 3D games. The first generation of Snapdragon has a rather dated GPU (Adreno 200) in it, and Adreno 200's 3D performance is honestly, bad. The second generation Snapdragon (Desire Z/G2, Desire HD) uses a much faster GPU, Adreno 205, making the Snapdragon 3D performance on par with Hummingbird and other current generation SoC.
So before you go again saying Snapdragon is the slowest "CPU", go do some reading, and think, before saying. Here is some good reading for you:

if you blindly trust benchmarks the Scorpion CPU in the 2nd gen snapdragons are quite fast... my G2 benchmarks at...
Quadrant: 2,700ish
Linpack: 52.69
Sunspider:2,257
Neocore:57
infact, all of those benchmarks either match, or surpass the Atrix 4G.
No problems here with my snapdragon 1Ghz. linpacks constant 42+
Now that the phone is rooted can we use setCPU to underclock it so to save battery.
Or does setcpu not support dual core.
Also is what I said above true. if we have root we can underclock without putting custom kernels.
The nvidia tegra 2 kernel does not have a simple method to modify the CPU freq table. The dev working on the gtablet kernel would be a good resource to ask, his name is Pershoot. From my understanding he would have to backport the original ARM scaling which is not trivial in the least.
Maybe someone can figure out another way.

lol same here. I have about 45 installed on my Galaxy Tab and all of them will be installed on the Atrix immediately and tested. I plan on testing every single game I can find on the market lol biggest being Dungeon Defenders for now...runs a bit slow on the Galaxy Tab and I've heard on Tegra2 it runs *GREAT*.

Because you can make it better. Why settle for less? My captivate is fast and does everything I need it to do at 1ghz but I have it at 1.3 now; and under volted.

DHD vs O2X which one your favourite?

I own this 2 beast and I also quit confusing to compare this smartphone which is the best one. I like the speed of O2X, but dislike it ui or interface if compare to DHD htc sense. I also like DHD aluminum body more than O2X plastic. So, what do you think guys? which one is better?

Well the biggest difference is probably that Dual Core processor of the O2X (2 x 1GHz) while the DHD only has a single core (also 1GHz).
The main camera is similar, but the O2X is capable of 1080p video recording AND additionally has a front faced camera for video calls.
It has also got more internal storage (8GB) and a slightly better battery (1500 mAH)
So yeah, I would say that the O2X is better than the DHD.

yeh but it has an extremely buggy ui. the speed test show it beats the dhd in web browsing by 1-2 seconds. also some benchmark test show the dhd scoring higher.
also the dualcore phones dont have 2x 1GHz cpu... the total speed is 1ghz
so its (2x 500mhz) this is more efficient than single core.

Say what?!
A 1ghz dual core processor is not 2 processors running at 500mhz!!! It is a single CPU with 2 cores capable of processing separate threads. It runs at 1ghz and technically it is like 2 1ghz processors operating in tandem.
Shoot whoever is spreading the above misinformation lol.

Are you sure?? I have read everywhere it is 500mhz!! Othwise why do manufactureas say it is a 1.2ghz dualcore phone?! Why dont they say it is a 2.4ghz phone? I think you may be wrong

He is definitely right.
You can't just add the speeds of two seperate cores up. The dual core runs at 2 @ 1Ghz. That's like two seperate CPUs, each with a clock speed of 1Ghz. So it is NOT 2 Ghz CPU but rather 2 processors @ 1Ghz. It may sound similar, but it makes a huge difference (for further detail you should look into how a processor works and what threads are).

Thats explain alot why bench mark for stock rom O2X is 2689 and DHD only around 1545.

Just google about dual core vs single core.
You will find info where dual core freq is same as single core. The only different is that dual core is way better when doing multitasking (avoid hang or jitter) and not to say double speed but can say nearly double speed.

thanks, but why does it say for ecample that the htc sensation runs at 1.2 ghz? If they want to be more impressive, why dont they just say its running at 2.4 ghz?
Ok guys, it is clearly in term of hardware O2X is the winner. But how about its ui? software? And its unibody design? any opinion i do appreciate.

Im not an expert but correct me if im wrong.
1 CPU with 2 core. Each core have 1 ghz freq. 1 core to do 1 task, another core to do another task. Meaning freq each core still 1 ghz but since its have dual core it can do both task at the same time. More quick than a single core. If we compare to single core with 2 ghz, it can only do task 1 at a time. In term of speed i think dual core 1 ghz should be nearly the same as 1 core 2 ghz. I also read some where saying single core 2 ghz consume more power than dual core 1 ghz.

I'm 100% sure. Here's a brief history of multi core processors for those who are interested.
In the late 90's and early 000's, processor speed was constantly on the rise. Manufacturers were trying to out-do each other in regards to who had the fastest clock speed.
The way clock speed increases is by actually shrinking the microarchitecture (Semi-Conductors) of the processor, which leads to faster data transfer/processing rates. There was a pattern involved where each new generation of chip architecture yielded almost twice the clock speed of the past generation. However, as processor architecture grew smaller and smaller, eventually we approached a stage where physically, using current materials and manufacturing processes, a limit had been reached. It wasn't possible to continue shrinking the size of the processor, so logically, the next step was to integrate multiple cores on a single chip. This was the birth of the multicore processor.
The way a multicore processor works is by utilising multiple processor cores on a single chip. This way, instead of a higher clock speed, you have multiple cores running at the same speed, 'sharing' the workload. So, a 1ghz Dual Core Processor is a single chip, with 2 cores both clocked at 1ghz. A 3ghz Quad Core Processor is a single chip, with 4 cores all clocked at 3ghz.
This all sounds wonderful, but for a multicore processor to be used efficiently, it requires software to be multithreaded. This is where you have to question the use of dual core processors in smartphones, as none of the applications or the OS utilise multiple threads! So really, as it stands, you'll struggle to see truly improved performance from dual core handsets.
This will all change in the future. Android 2.4 will support dual cores by default and I'm guessing most software will start to aswell.
Anway, hope this was interesting for those wondering how dual core processors work and about clock speed etc.

Well i have both phones now... i missed the sence weather and clock from DHD but fancy widget fixed that. O2x still has a few bugs ie black screen and auto reboots but i only had 1 bs a 2 reboots in 2 weeks now . games work better on o2x also with normal lock screen o2x is snapper all over at stock than a oc to 1.2 ghz DHD but the best part is the real HDMI out (no need for a ps3) but i will keep both phones

Because they would be lying. If I have two towers each being 50m tall I can't advertise that I'm selling a 100m tower because I'm not.
