I Have HD7 Runing On HD2. My Memory Card Dont work. I Look around the forum and still dont Understand what type of memory card work or maybe there a trick to it.
http://www.google.com/products/cata...=X&ei=x0xXTpL3J4HLsQLql-m5DA&ved=0CGYQ8gIwAA#
Thats The Kind Of my memory card.
Brand: PNY
Size: 8Gig
Class: 4
Any help will be appreciated

theres no way of knowing if it works until you try it.
stick to class 2 or 4 cards, sandisk seems to have more luck than others but ultimately its luck, there is no list of working cards, and just because someone has a card that does or doesnt work doesnt mean you will have the same result
it is thought that it needs higher 4k random access speeds but we can be sure as everyone seems to have different results

And when flashing my phone..should memory card be in or out.

For those with phone freeze issues...

I've been watching, reading, and doing my own research on the subject.
Here is my conclusion. Curious to see if you run into the same:
1) There were a bad batch of 16gb class 2 micro sdhc cards that were replaced by T-Mobile.
2) The micro sdhc cards were CLASS 2.
3) On the original stock ROM had \storage card\application data\htc data stored on the card. As of the new ROM, that data is officially stored on the phone memory. I know this because I sync my sdhc card to my home PC using ViceVersa and haven't had a single file in that directory change since the ROM upgrade.
4) I've never had any freeze issues, but that's because I have a 16gb CLASS 6 sdhc card that moved everything to and don't have the speed/reliability issues that others may have experienced because of #1 and #2.
I have no idea what the data is that was being pushed to the card in the old ROM, but I believe that T-Mobile recognized issues with pushing data to a card where it may not get mounted quick enough on boot, has speed issues (class 2), as well as having a possible bad shipment of cards.
I also believe that depending on the above scenario, T-Mobile may have been blindly replacing "bad" cards as a fix when in reality, it was more of an issue with the speed of the card and/or possibly the card not getting mounted quick enough on system boot causing stability issues.
I would challenge anybody with the original ROM to pull their SD cards for 24-48 hours and I bet your freeze issues go away, unless you actually do have a bad SD card.
On that same note, that would explain why a custom ROM would fix the problem, because chef's weren't configuring their ROM's to cache any data to an SD card.
Bottom line, it wouldn't matter if you installed anything to the card or not. Because the original ROM was configured to write to the SD card if it found one, you would "potentially" have freeze issues with a bad or slow card, no matter what.
Sorry if this is redundant, but I've seen everybody making conclusions on bits and pieces of the information, but not with the entire picture I painted. Maybe I'm right, maybe I'm wrong. You decide.
=)
Update:
After finally deleting the \storage card\application data folder, the files did come back. Does anybody know what these are? I'd like to get those to point back to the phone memory personally. I don't like anything on the external card, other then what I say should be there.

SD Card Corruption

Hi All,
Does anyone else here suffer from continual SD card corruption? It appears that the early superblocks of my card are continually being corrupted by my Hero no matter how I format or partition the card.
Naturally I would assume that this was a card issue but running some load tests on a laptop shows the card to be functioning properly and reliably. Next thought would be that it's the phone but using an alternative card in the phone seems to be trouble free also. Any ideas?
My alternative card is a 2GB vs the troublesome 8GB card that I would prefer to have for music, etc.
I see lots of web results for people complaining about corrupt SD cards but no solutions or responses.
I had this problem too. Fixed by buying a decent class 6 microSD card. No problems since.

[REF] Working SD Cards List

Hi all,
Currently, the Focus/WP7 in general is having some technical difficulties with external SD cards. Below is the list that users have confirmed compatible and incompatible. I will keep this updated until the issue is resolved, in hopes that new users find this list and make the correct purchases. Please post your results with brand name / storage capacity / class #. Also, please only post your results after installing the card using the prescribed methods from the Samsung Focus instructions or the Windows Phone 7 site. This includes formatting the card and then testing the stability with soft reset(s).
*Note* Some people are reporting that their cards will work for about a day, then proceed to make the phone go berserk, restart, and then return with the data cleared and only 15MB of available storage. If this happens to you after initially reporting a compatible card, please check back in with us! Use this list with caution, as the results are based on our short time with the device. Thanks
Confirmed Working(Data remains after soft reset):

I just got the regular 8 GB Sandisk MicroSD in the AT&T store and it works just fine. I used the reset option from within the phone's settings, not by holding down the phone's buttons.
So far, no issues. Memory was detected and allocated properly and my music has been synced and everything.
So far I can gather the cards that are not correctly working, as in you can get them to recognize and sync initially but once you power down the phone and bring it back up everything is gone and the phone only reads "15mb" of storage space. Only way to get it working correctly again is a full hard reset / format.
Transcend - Works but has the listed issue above (I have a 8gb class 6, back to amazon it goes)
A-Data - Works but has the listed issue above
Kingston - Works but has the listed issue above
SanDisk - Works 100% reboots and all no issues (friend has a 32gb class 2, no issues at all!)
Hope that helps
Using a SanDisk 16 GB class 6 (whatever that's worth) that I bought back in May or June this year. Popped it in and ran the format utility via hard reset (vol down + camera + power) which formatted the device.
Have 22 GB or so of total space with about 12 GB in use via mostly music, with a few apps and games, and a handful of my favorite photos. The phone appears to be running just fine. I've soft reset twice ('goodbye' via power button) and haven't had any data loss / configuration issues at all.

So you have performed a soft reset and your data remained intact? Also, if possible, can you post what Class (2-10) you are using? As stated by MS, the class isn't so much of the issue as other factors, but just for reference's sake. Thanks!

For the brands that you listed as working, but with the issue listed above, I'm hesitant to post those as not working as it may only be for certain sizes or speeds with that given brand, and I don't want to cause panic for anyone who may have purchased that particular brand but has a working configuration. I will post the 32gb class 2 sandisk model and 8gb class 6 transcend, but if you can provide any specific configurations (size/class) for the brands you listed, that would be helpful. Thanks for your input
AT&T rep had me walk through the setup at the store when I bought it. I didn't have the microsd card with me so I installed it when I got home (Kingston 16 GB Class 4). After powering on the phone it didn't see the card. I completed a reset and after that it worked. I thought it has been said the cards wont be seen if it was inserted after the first setup because of the way it sets up the storage as one virtual disk from the first setup......

The reason I thought it might be useful to put this list together is many people are reported that despite meeting those requirements, there are certain cards that simply don't work. According to Microsoft's own website, simple matching the class requirement won't necessarily mean your card works, as there are other factors not listed that factor in to it. If it gets cleared up in the next few days with an OTA patch, then this thread will be moot but for all the early adopters who are trying to get an SD card in this phone before that, this list might prove useful
Oh I understand and agree. I more or less thought it was interesting that Samsung said that a class 2 would work.
Also this was posted in another thread. Too bad there are currently 3 or 4 threads on this issue. Microsoft has a KB on this now:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2450831
Still waiting on UPS to deliver my Class 6 Transcend 16GB card today. Will test and post here in a few hours.

Color me clueless yet maybe the built-in Error Correcting Code (ECC) to detect and correct transfer errors is key??? i felt everything has error correction nowadays, though i could be incorrect.
---------------------
---> ADDED DOES NOT WORK
---> First recognizes it all, then after reboot only recognizes only the first 8 GB

I put a 16GB Class 2 in lastnight, everything worked fine, lots of stuff sync'd to it.. then this morning after some music playing, the phone started crashing and rebooting itself.. then I lost all my settings and memory and had to do a complete format again without the SD card in place.. so far running without the SD card. its doing fine.
I'm thinking maybe class 2 is not fast enough and class 6 or 10 would be better.. I think I'll go get a class 10 later today try that out

I did a reset via the phone's settings (Settings -> about -> reset your phone) and everything that was on the phone was gone when it booted up again. However, since I did that, my data has remained intact on the phone and I've had no issues since.
The card I have is a Class 2 Sandisk 8 GB micro SD card.

SanDisk, and yep.. I followed the instructions, Format, etc etc. 20GB or so was available.. and everything was normal for 12 hours or so.. then.. BAM.. it started crashing,, and then all settings lost.. and space of course.. it was like it just became corrupted.
I wonder if the mircro sd was loose or something. or dirty contacts. dunno.. I may try it again tonight. or just buy a faster class card

Sounds good, let us know the results if you try the SanDisk again, as most people have posted that they had good results with them.
Not working:
A-data 16GB class 6
A-data 4GB class 6
EDIT: let me rephrase "not working". The phone will recognize it and work fine until your soft reset. Then all settings, etc are gone.
I just tried my Kingston 4GB class 4 and it worked.
WORKING : Kingston 32GB class 4
I first tried volume down, camera and power button. That gave me the download mode window and it lasted for about 20min before I gave up and took out the battery. then the phone came on fine without the new memory. I then went to settings>>about>>reset and that worked perfect. I have re-setup my phone with apps and exchange.. then I powered off (goodbye) and then on twice.. all my data is still there and it says I have 34.17 gb of free space ..using 2.36gb
but 2.36 + 34.17 = 36.53
where are my other 3.47 gb? I suppose they are the OS
but the world is great.. a windows 7 focus with 32gb card.. AWESOME!

very slow market downloads?

Hi guys, anyone else experiencing really slow downloads through the market? I'm talking 10-20kbs which is really annoying when I'm setting up a new rom. The issue seems to be rom independent and what I don't understand is why the market is so slow when my actual data connection is fine. I've ran speedtest and I'm getting 10Mbs connection speeds (over wifi) so it seems strange for the market to have such issues.
Yup, been having that on every rom as well. A temp fix I know is to unmount SD card before starting the download, that should give you good speed again. Not too practical for every update, but a huge timesaver after a fresh install!
This is a ROM issue not the markets slow server ?
It's definitely a problem on our side yes, the market servers are doing just fine.

I agree with this...i also realized that if unmounting SD solve my problem, maybe the sd is the problem...so I treat it out with another sd card...turn out my sd card was going bad...so if unmount SD helps, try another card...good luck

Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I'll give it a go and see if it's the case, if it is we need to identify what's causing the problem in other builds.
I have the same issue on my hd2 android.
my download speed is about 5-40 kbps...
so what is the difference in this build? maybe the cooker can share it to make all builds perfect

You do realize, don't you, that when you use the "unmount SD card" option in Android, it doesn't actually unmount the SD card?
I've tried that build but I'm seeing no change in market download speeds, I have noticed that wifi speeds are much slower than over 3G though, I'll try this on my current build (MDJ FroYo HD v.4.0) to see if it's a wifi only issue.

@tung...did you try the unmounting SD method to see if it'll help...
Well, this problem that you guys are experiencing is all because of the SD card. I have tested two cards using the same build, one is the original SanDisk 16gb class 2 and one is the new Samsung 16gb class 2. The Sandisk download app super fast and the Samsung one only get 10-20kb/s. Even the same class, the two card have different write speed. So it is all because of the SD card. Seems like SanDisk would work best.
To explain the "unmount thing", because android systems sync with the SD card all the time and that take up a lot of write speed. If your card does not have a good write speed it would take longer. By "un-mounting" the SD card, you tell it to stop syncing and the speed is much improve. That's all. Warning: if you turn of the phone when unmount, you will experience data loss or corruption.
great way to put things in perspective...that's why I advice OP to try a new SD before blaming it on the BUILD...

i use the same card for all builds that i test and still nexusv1.7 is fastest on market downloads.
I think I can verify the SD card theory. My girlfriend and I both have hd2's running android (same build, rom, radio, hspl). The only thing different about our phones is that I'm running the original sandisk 16gb class 2 and she is running a 4gb PNY class 4 SD card.
Her market downloads, strangely enough, are incredibly slower than mine on the class 2. I had always wondered about that since she had a class 4...but I guess it does make sense. Although the payoff for her is her android boot time is incredibly fast.

With SD unmounted my market also is a little bit faster but still too slow.
(MDJ FROYO HD 4.0 and WLAN).
Any other solution?!
Yeah really very slow

Google play music vs. SD card

Just killed second SD card in my S7 Edge and by 90% its caused by GPM while downloading my archive to phone. After fresh install I cached maps to sygic navigation, one more other app and saved around 4GB of data without any problems. Then I let GPM cache my playlist worth cca 5GB of music. After hour or so checked phone and found card disconnected. And it was dead, didnt work in phone nor pc anymore. So I exchanged it for another one (RMA) and did exactly the same with another. Unfortunatelly same situation, other apps downloaded data correctly, GPM killed card after hour or so of downloading.
Both cards were Kingston 64GB U3 fast cards.
Not sure if I want to try third time in row...
I've had bad experiences with kingston microsd cards - randomly failing or getting a lot of errors. I initially thought it was bad luck.. now I use Samsung and Sandisk ones and I haven't had any problems.
There must be a quality issue with the kingston ones. Have you tried a different brand? I'll try an old samsung card and see if it messes up with Google Music
I typically stick to SanDisk and have about 10GB of music from GPM on my SD card at any given time. Never had any issues through various ROM installs and wipes.
Will take card to RMA (again) and get different brand, probably SanDisk. Hope it will be better luck, because not sure how many cards I can succesfully RMA befor they get some suspicion in shop

Are you enabling encryption on the SD card?
I had that setup on my Lexar 1000x to begin with and after a few days ended up with a corrupted filesystem in my GS7E.
I reformatted the card using Windblows, reinstalled it and reformatted it with the GS7E, but with encryption disabled, and performance has been more consistent (read and write).
I'm just wondering if SD card encryption could be mis-behaved.
