[Q]HD2 powers on only with soft reset button and charger plugged in + black screen - HD2 General

Hello!
I have strange problem with my HTC HD2.
I doesn't power on without charger. It only powers on with charger plugged in to PC or wall and when soft reset button (under battery cover) is pressed. So it doesn't power on with power key.
When phone is powered on it shows only black screen with screen lights and key lights turned on. I can hear the boot sound from HD2's speaker so I think it boots into Windows Mobile correctly.
When plugged to PC and phone powered on, PC can recognize it. I have tried flashing newest ROM from HTC website but no change. Still black screen whole time.
Problem came after I installed new touch screen digitizer+LCD assembly. LCD ribbon looks OK and its plugged to motherboard correctly.
Could this be software issue?
I would be very happy if someone could help me with this strange problem.

It's not software, sounds like your digitizer to motherboard is messed up somehow. Worst case is dissemble and try again.

I have assembled and disassembled it again and again few times with official htc hd2 videos but no change.
Could this be radio issue?

sounds to me like the "front" face of the phone isn't properly connected with the motherboard and rest of the stuff.
FACT 1: the front power (or end call) button isn't working
FACT 2: the screen is blank, probably not powering on and/or receiving a data signal
FACT 3: the device appears to boot for all other intents and purposes
disassemble...reassemble...pay attention to the button strip and the LCD ribbons...maybe you might see something wrong.

Also, no radio or ROM would cause this issue, I don't see how this could possibly be software in any respect.

Disassembled and assembled again but still no luck. I contacted to ebay seller who sold lcd for me. He said that he will send me new lcd + digitizer assembly.

Broken power switch - broken off mainboard

Hey all, I'm new to the forums but I can't wait to get my 8125 working. I bought a replacement screen on ebay and a broken 8125.. on receipt all I got was a white screen, then last night I replaced with the new screen and got the cingular logo and the windows mobile "touch anywhere to set up.." message.
Well, touching it did nothing, and the keyboard didn't work, so i opened it up again.
Somehow when I opened it up, the power switch button circuit thing detached from the mainboard (and it looks like the owner before me had actually crazy glued it on!!) .. and now the thing won't power up, won't show a charge light... nothing at all when plugged in or attached to my PC. So I hope that detached power button is the culprit. Upon further inspection I saw that yet another had detached but I can't seem to find where it landed... this one for the little button next to the slider, I don't really know what it does yet.. .
.. so I guess first step is to solder that power button back on and see what happens. Does it sound like a missing power button circuit thing would cause the unit to no longer power on at all (even when soft reset when connected to PC, which used to power it on?)
Pete
i did this. it is hell to solder on. I would say replace the phone

Argh.. well, i'll give it a go with the power switch.... do you think it will affect the phone to be missing the comm manager switch off the mainboard too... or will the phone still function without this piece soldered on?

Yes, the power on/off button being broken is the reason why you had a white screen, and only getting the splash screen after replacing the touch screen. If you're a good assembly man, I'd suggest try to solder the button back ln place or replace the device. As for the button by the volume slider, that's the comm manager button. If you can ever get to the homescreen, the comm manager icon to activate the comm manager (bluetooth, WiFi, etc. is in the system tray at the bottom of the homescreen.
It sounds to me the new screen was replaced improperly, accounting for nothing happening when you tap it.Try re-installing the replacement screen.

LCD broke . How to reset

Horrendous day. I dropped my phone today and lcd is broken. Screen does not turn on. However i see that the phone boots up. I can make that out by looking at the hardware keys that light up and when i press the volume button, i hear the sound.
My question is how can I factory reset the phone ?
Just connect to screen via HDMI cable
I figured other way out. Thanks for the advice

[Q] volume buttons missing, tablet doesn't start issue

Hello everybody,
does anybody here see a connection between missing volume buttons(physical switches on the camera module 04w2155) and the tablet doesn't start?
As backgrund info.
Tablet is doing only short vibration when trying to power on, or when connecting to charger. When connecting charger led on the back is flashing but i don't get anything on the display or other feedback except the short vibration. I suspect also some damage with the screen, but cannot confirm. Tablet has a repair of the power button.
Thank you
You might be in APX mode, which doesn't activate the display.
Press the battery-disconnect button inside the tiny hole next to sim card slot and then try to power up your tablet.
Thanks for reply/hint.
What reset did is that for around half a minute the red led was lightning continuously, not blinking. After thag blinks again.
After research about apx mode i'm more and more certain this is my situation, it's active now.
If i connect to computer, it does recognize, search for driver and then disconnects within few seconds.
Since i see this more like a software problem could i stabilise the connection to the computer and recover informations/make backup and restore rom?
Thank you!

My guess - not to answer your latest question but to the original one, is that your missing volume buttons (physically missing, yes?) very much have something to do with the tablet's current condition. To get to APX mode, the tablet must be started from cold boot with power AND volume pressed at same time (physically pressed). If your missing buttons are registering as being 'pressed' all of the time, it may be difficult to create a boot situation where you can get to your android desktop.
Could you elaborate on the missing buttons?
Please someone else chime in here - I don't even have my tablet.
Thanks for reply.doesn't matter for which question. I put together any information. Issue is getting clearer.
I got the tablet in this condition and attempt repair. Power button was down so i soldered back.
Now the thing is somebody worked before in this area and i suppose the actual powerbutton is one of the volume buttons since the work done before doesnt look professional. I suppose they destroyed the powerbutton and desoldered a volume button to resolder as powerbutton. Which possibly is the case for both volume switches. Now the two vol buttons are nowhere.
The switch has 3 pins,of which the ones at the sides have continuity when the switch is unpressed.
I suppose for boot it could require that the 2 volume switches to be present, that means it could have some continuity check through the switches, and if they are not present it cannot start.
I cannot simulate the 2 buttons because for one switch the soldering pad on the board got burned.
I am going to upload pictures in 5-6 hours when i get home.
If this proves to be somehow true i would order another brand new camera module with all 3 switches, but now i'm unsure if with new board it could start, at least for flashing/recovery.
But having it vibrating and red light flashinv i see a sign it's not yet a "unrecoverable brick"
What do you think?
Thank you

Anybody any idea about this case?

I think it is definetely a screen damage, maybe a conection cord. Try to clean/replug this cord (cant remember now where it is). This short vibration indicates, that device is begining to boot. Right after vibration Lenovo logo should apear on the screen. If it doesnt - screen is down...
About power board - no connection between power and volume buttons for sure. Power button: + is central, - is other two.
stas.green brings up a good point. If you have opened up the tablet, it is very easy to disconnect the flat ribbon cable that runs the display. When I installed my 3G card the same thing happened to me. Freaked me out but it took 30 seconds to open it back up and correctly seat the cable.

stas.green you're right. the problem is with the screen. i powered the tablet and conected to the computer. i could see the memory access the files and make a backup.
i'm going to examine where is the screen problem origin and possibly to fix it. the screen cables i checked, they fit good. any other weak point known to you?
thanks for help
My next suggestion, not to fix the screen, but to get some function back - connect the tablet to a TV via the mini-HDMI port and see if you are booting to a normal desktop. Hopefully 'External Display' is already enabled. At least you would be able to test if the touch and pen functions of your screen and confirm if they still work even though your backlighting may be broken. Shining a flashlight at an angle on the screen may make the desktop visible if the backlighting is the issue.
Good luck!

[Q] Screen repair - screen won't power on?

I am attempting to replace my Nexus 7 digitizer and LCD screen with one I purchased from gadgetfix on eBay, and I can't get the replacement screen to power on. Can someone advise me on things I can try to get it working?
I used a guide on Android Authority and understand that there's two ribbon cables that need to be re-connected (one that feeds through the body of the tablet, and one dual-connector that wraps around the side), as well as the power connector.
I can tell that the Nexus does power up when everything is re-assembled and I press the power on button. Plug it into my Mac, and Android File Transfer boots up. I think the digitizer is responding because when I touch the screen, it says stuff like "Welcome" and "English United Kingdom" (I'm guessing this is the Welcome language selection screen).
If I press the power button while it's turned on, it says "Screen off." Also, at one point it said "1:30am ringer 70 percent."
This is my second attempt at this - after returning/replacing the first one, I encountered the same issue. So I'm starting to think it's either my tablet or something I'm doing.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
have the same problem here... and many more out there...
bought new screen & digitizer from china phone accessories as recommended from you tube user... specifically requested for 3G model since it seems that different version has different screen...
fixed today, already checked the connection multiple times, but the screen wont show anything... there's power for the screen... is there anyway to workaround it... tried the power + volume button press but still no respond... since there's no respond on this thread for more than a year, it must be very bad issue...
would try to swap screen with my other unit but afraid the worst could happen, both unit wont show anything...

Screen won't turn on, touch will works

Hello, recently I damaged the screen on my s8 where the screen wouldn't turn on and no input would work, so I figured it was the LCD and digitizer that needed replacing. I've replaced those parts, and the touch works now but the screen never turns on. I turn the phone on and see the blue notification light that turns on when the Samsung boot logo comes up, but can't see the boot logo itself. I can unlock the phone because I've memorized the pattern/placement and I can hear the volume change sounds when I adjust the volume.
I've tried cleaning the PCB contacts, holding the volume down + power button, holding volume up + power + bixby, and I've changed the battery and verified it works. Anybody know what could be the cause? Faulty screen? The company I bought it from is asking me to send it back to verify if the screen is faulty, by I'd rather not go through that trouble if the problem is with my motherboard or something. Although, because everything else works, it does lead me to believe the screen itself is bad?
