XPERIA X10 Modding Blog | ROM/Kernel index | How-to's - XPERIA X10 General

Hey guys,
since browsing the development forum is kinda messy, I decided to make a blog to simplify things up.
XPERIA X10 Modding
It's currently a WIP. Tell me what you guys think or if I should stop.
I'll try to maintain it to the best of my ability.
The homepage is where I'll post updates and news about the phone/ROMs.

Really nice ! Thanks alot!!!!

Perhaps a brief explanation of the difference between a rom and a kernel would be nice.

I'll consider it.

Also add what issues each rom has. The disadvantages vs. the advantages.

DarkOnion's Guide on Choosing an Android Phone

Hi all.
Here's my latest... and another... guide on helping the average person choose an Android phone. Please feel free to share with friends and noobs and what not. Still a work in progress, but hopefully, I'll have it cleaned up in the next few days. Still a lot of grammar and structure things.
Enjoy!

I also thought it was a good article. I used similar criteria when I considered upgrading my phone, although that was with the droid 1. I was upgraded to a refurbished droid 2 recently which made me happy being as its so much faster and had lots more memory.....

Thanks for the compliments!

Since 2.3.3 is announced we need CM7!

I posted a thread on Cyanogenmod.com
I'm asking there when 2.3.3 if they can make a Cyanogenmod 7 for the x10!
So please support me in the thread!
You can find the thread here:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/5065-sony-ericsson-xperia-x10/
God No, CM7 is neat in all but way too buggy!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have you seen J's thread? He is working on CM7 (2.3.3) so don't disrespect his work by asking the guys over Cyanogen.com to port it...

yup J is doing a great job on the CM7...!!
I do respect J his work. He's doing GREAT. I only asked to support it on Cyanogenmod to get a real CM... As you can see J has also posted on my thread at cyanogemod.com
I am expecting J's CM7 more than official 2.3 of SE.
Well I'm expecting both.
2.3kernal + J's CM port
Although our custom kernal is on the way...

Questions from newbie

Just got an x10 few days ago and having some silly questions now.
About the bootloader,is it finally unlocked or cracked?
Which rom in your view do the best for a newbie x10 user?
2.3.4 or 2.3.3 will be released?
Any good thread to refer to for a newbie?
Thanks

First things first, 歡迎中伏 (welcome to the death trap)
The bootloader is impossible to crack in the foreseeable future, unless SE gives us the unlock. However there is the bypass being worked out which allows us to side load kernels.
As for roms, the 2.2 ones are quite neat, and the GB update is just around the corner.

Hi, and welcome to the x10 community.
As far as we know, the bootloader HAS NOT been cracked or unlocked.
In my opinion, the best newbie rom would be Zidzihu's FreeX10 beta 4. Have a look in the dev section for it. Make sure you read up on rooting, xRecovery, Roms, and flashtool before attempting to flash anything. We are expecting the update to 2.3.3 to roll out in the coming few weeks, maybe sooner.
There is a sticky in the general section that has a lot of useful and important information in it, just have a quick look at that.

My Xperia Z1 Review [New Photos 08/10/13]

Hi,
Some of you from the Z forum may remember me for posting a link to my blog where I wrote a review that most seemed to enjoy, so here is a new review of the Z1 that I have just written. Hope you enjoy this one too.
It includes some photos I took myself with the phone, I intend to add more soon.
EDIT: Added a lot more photos!

Will you make a more personal review of the device in the future? I mean no disrespect, but it seems like more of a sum-up of all it can do rather than a personal user experience after one week. There are tons of reviews out there where all they do is list the specs but never really get into the usage of the phone.

I did add a fair few personal comments, mainly on build quality, what I thought it lacked and what I didn't like, but I do see where I could make it more personal in other places. Thank you for your feedback .
