Hi, I'm currently using a Focus across Europe, successfully.
Mine was bought in US and initially SIM locked to AT&T. Paid for unlock and now is SIM unlocked (flashing, restoring, downgrading, upgrading etc. firmware doesn't affect SIM lock).
So yes, you can buy it, unlock it (fastgsm or ebay) and use with no issues across the world, actually, not only Europe.

thanks for the replay and for the answer buddy =)

Yes, I got it from eBay.
However, I specifically chose one which buyer said specifically it works for any carrier in the world ("world-wide phone").
It's working beautifully, I am very pleased about it.
Some tip about buying from eBay, in case you aren't used to it(like I was):
Make sure you read carefully the buyer description.
For example, being in hurry, while I did make sure about other things, I didn't notice that it didn't include a micro-USB data cable. It's my fault, the buyer actually didn't mention about it.
Also, the charger was not the original one(Samsung Traveler). The buyer just mentioned 'charger'.
These are really not important at all as I got an original micro-USB for like 10$.
I was more interested about phone being in good shape and that it works in my country.
But since you have to choose it might help you.
Good luck!

locked HTC HD2 bought on e-bay

Hello everybody,
I'm kindly asking you to give me an advice concerning the possibility to use the phone in other network than that in which it is locked. Practically, I intend to buy a locked HD2 on e-bay (there are also unlocked phones offered, but the locked ones are cheaper) and I want to know if it would be possible to unlock it with my sim card (unlock it) and also to flash another (cooked) ROM on it. Is it relevant in which network is locked the phone, or it can be unlocked regardless the original network? If it's possible, which would be the safest way to do it (HardSPL?)?
Thank you in advance for your help!

Hey
your phone can be unlocked, but you will have to use an unlocking service, some network providers will provide an unlock code for a fee (O2 is free) if you've been with them for a certain amount of time, or you could try http://www.unlock-now.com/ - very quick service (got my unlock code in 30mins) for €25.
just one option, you may find cheaper alternatives on ebay?

First off is it a TMOUS HD2 or a EU version?
And Second where are you?? EU or US.
There is a guy on ebay that is very reliable, a lot of people here use him, and I as well, got my unlock code in 15 minutes , for $10 ..
The phone can be unlocked no matter where it is from and you can flash custom ROMs ...
Depending on which version of phone it is and where you are at , your mileage may vary on service ....
You cannot sim unlock the phone with a flash, but you can use HSPL3 to put pretty much any compatible ROM on it, again depends on which version of the phone ...
Hope that helps a little ....
Buy it on eBay. Save some money. They have unlock codes for as low as $10.00 and since it's eBay, your money is safe too just in case the code doesn't work, although I haven't heard of anyone complaining so far.
yup buy unlock code from ebay... i got it from swiftunlocks i think... 15 bux, but got it quick ...

[Q] flash Omnia 7 firmware on Samsung Focus?

So I was trying to find a cheaper way to unlock a Samsung focus and came across this thread and I'm wondering if anyone knows if it's possible. it's post #10:
http://www.modaco.com/content/samsu...lock-my-samsung-focus-from-at-t/#entry1571641
Flashing Focus with Omnia rom, it will work but you will have serious issues. There is already someone here that did that and reported a lot of problems, read this thread. The person on modaco doesn't look trustworthy, imho.
As for the unlock part, if you're looking for developer unlock aka sideloading/Chevron, it's the same difficulty for all phones. If you're looking for carrier unlock, you can't do it by flashing a rom. I recommend fastgsm service for that, they're the cheapest.
LE: I see you're canadian, if it's on Rogers it might be even cheaper, read the unlock thead I linked.

Thank you for the reply. It's not a Rogers but an AT&T one. I got it for $250 on ebay as part of a charity auction so even with the cost of the unlock it's still very cheap. It seemed weird but WP7 is a new platform to me so figured anything could be possible.
In any case, you should start here. WP7 has much to offer and in the same time it's young. The ride is certainly interesting for me and I have the same as you, an AT&T Focus.

Prior to NoDo, I had debranded the Focus and subsequently have never gotten the firmware update from Samsung. I tried the update tools to force it, but I get an error saying "Two or more packages in the update contain the same file". Any ideas on what else to try?

Re-branding it might enable the update. It worked for me, in some cases unbranding gave me an update, others times rebranding gave it.
I used www.cellunlocker.net for unlocking Rogers branded Samsung Focus. Was quick turn around and it was only USD$ 7.99. Might be different cost for other carrier branded phones.

[Q] Advice on buying a Samsung focus

Hey, am planning on buying a new samsung focus. Am thinking of getting an at&t locked one off ebay then unlocking it using this coz it'll be cheaper than buying an unlocked one. Would anyone recommend this or will i end up getting screwed?

1. Make sure the phone is "new", not refurb. Then check if it had water damage, things replaced etc. Keep in mind that Amazon sells new Focuses for $229
2. I've used a similar unlock for $0.99 and got a good code in <1h
3. Find a good SD card
Good luck!
Agreed
I concur with EnderPsp. I used a similar code to SIM unlock my ATT Focus. The code came to me in less than 15 minutes and the unlock went smoothly. You probably already know this so forgive me, but you are about to become a fellow Focus owner. This is a SIM unlock and will not unlock your Focus for sideloading xaps etc, just allow you to use other carriers.

Hey thanks. I think i'll be getting a new unlocked one from Amazon instead. It's even cheaper than some of the locked ones on ebay I noticed that you live in Europe. Can i assume that the at&t unlocked version of the phone is working ok for you. I want to make sure that i dont get any problems. My carrier uses GSM 900 and 3G 2100 bands.

Sideloading means installing non-market apps on the device, right? If thats the case it really won't be much of a bother to me. Which reminds me, does the samsung focus have the SIM Toolkit(STK) application?

Yes, both my Focuses work fine across Europe (AT&T and my wife's Rogers).
Just make sure the Radio is set to "World" not "North America".

You're mainly right about sideloading. Unfortunately there is no STK on WP7, but there is an app called "Network Profile" that you can download from marketplace and might help you a bit.

How to unlock Samsung Galaxy S8 safely

Hi XDA,
I'm pretty new here and I hope that this is the right section for this. Keeping it short, I'm going to receive a brand new Galaxy S8 from Europe, but it's going to be locked on T-Mobile Germany, since this is where I'm getting from.
As far as I know, I will be able to use it here, on AT&T, but only after unlocking it. And here comes my question: how can I do this? I know about flashing firmware or something like that, but, honestly, I'm not such a tech savvy person. Is there such thing as an easier method?
Thanks in advance,
George
You need to pay for an unlock code, cheapest ones are usually on ebay.

I don't know if TMOBILE GERMANY works the same way as they do here in the US - but there are guidelines for when yoiu get a phone unlocked by teh carrier - and they have started using an AP that makes it impossible to use an UNLOCKED CODE to unlock the device. I found this ouit with the S6 when I purchased it (and the Note 5)
Their rules are pretty strict here in the US - you have to own the phone and be on service for 44 days before they will release the phone to be unlocked - unless you have been with TMOBILE for moe than a year in which case they will give allow you to unlock immediately.
Now that is here in the US and I am not sure if they do the same thing with TMOBILE Germany. BUT I would definitely look into it before you buy it.
You might consider buying a G950F and just use that - it is already unlocked and will work fine on ATT.
whatever you do - good luck.

Unlocking LGV35

Hello XDA friends,
I recently bought a LGV35 AT&T with bad imei, I'm not form USA so I was thinking I was able to unlock it for carriers outside USA, I have an octopus box but unfortunately my box doesnt support that model yet, I tried to contact with a few unlock providers but unfortunately again they dont have support for that model neither, so I want to ask you that if there is a way to unlock it or I will have to wait until my box have an update to unlock that type of model.
Best regards.:fingers-crossed:

I need a solution too. Thanks guys:fingers-crossed:
Me too.. Unfortunatley its been decided that there will never be any unlocking, rooting, sim unlocking or any ROMs for this phone. v30 and v40 get there own dedicated forums.. while v35 still gets none. The higher ups in the XDA world put a hex on the V35....They dont want any development.
Hey guys just a quick update, I already tried from different unlock services with no luck seems like they already don´t have access to unlock codes or something like that.

Yes I'm optimistic
Because they told me that every week they receive new model for unlock, so maybe we are in an unrealease list (for me from AT&T) so maybe the OEM are not able yet to release the codes.
But don't be very very optimisitc because this a new a phone so the unlock service could be in a few weeks or maybe in months, but be positive!

octoplus supports it but damage the efs partitcion , and gc pro i think it need to be rooted wich now is impossible i actually think they made the unlock by box pretty much impossible no download mode at all , no access to fastboot , even adb commands are worthless, the first time i see no way to unlock an lg phone from at&t from unlock code resellers , first time also that i see that the server for this phone went down since in lauch i unlocked 6 purchasing the unlock code for 5 bucks each

Unlocking codes providers are now working :good::fingers-crossed:
The price was right so I purchased an ATT v35 NIB on ebay from a reputable seller. It was sim locked to att. The ATT route to unlock would have involved a 90 day service committment, expensive and inconvenient. Found codes2unlock.com via the Howard forum, https://www.howardforums.com/showth...lock-AT-amp-T-USA-LG-V35-ThinQ-by-Unlock-Code.
They turned around a sim unlock code in less than 12 hr for $15. Worked like a charm. With that out of the way, I proceeded to flash the latest ULM (Fi) rom to at least partially free the phone. Would be great to have root as an option but I just don't have the will to play cat and mouse with Magisk to be able to use Google Pay.

Just want to make sure i'm understanding this correctly. I have an ATT LG v35 that i'm currently using with a cricket sim. If I pay for the unlock code I will be able to flash the Fi rom? Could you point me to the resources to download the correct rom? It's been a while since i've tried any of this.
I don't know if lgup checks carrier lock state before flashing a kdz. One thing for sure is that there are no kdz's for ATT roms. You won't be able to go back to ATT stock. Unlocking it before crossing that rubicon seemed like a good idea to avoid a future unlocking hassle so that the phone can be used with another carrier, Verizon in my case.
Here's the link to the Fi kdz.
https://lg-firmwares.com/downloads-file/19020/V350ULM10i_00_NAO_US_OP_0221.kdz
Read up on cross flashing in this forum as well as the ones on the G7 and v30.

Be sure to do a back up prior to doing the rom. One nice feature of 'restoral' is that you can select which apps/data to restore (meaning you can leave unwanted apps behind). I just did it today and am very happy. Even the authenticator app is working as before. Some logins might need to be redone, but it's worth it.
Solution:
Only buy unlocked phones
I just purchased an AT&T LG V35, had it unlocked through unlocklocks.com for $18.50 , turn around was about 3 hours and code worked with no problems. Hope that helps!
