Try Hybrid 2.3.4 ROM. It looks exactly like SGS2.

lol yea,
actually i meant that are you guys still happy with i9000? i heard about some gps bug or something, is that fixed? samsung will release gingerbread or want us to buy nexus s? now you guys are the owners, any regret or would you go with any other brand? things like that i want to hear from you guys.
I think with the latest JPU firmware, Galaxy S is the best Android phone feature wise.
I wouldn't change the SGS for xt720 or even a Nexus S at the moment. (720p recording, fast, etc.) Thanksfully some nice guys will port some parts of the kernel drivers which arent yet working on the SGS (read: closed source) and then build some AOSP Gingerbread 'n friends. CM7 would also be a piece of cake once kernel issues are sorted

I agree! The version 4.0 RC2 is Awesome and the theme is like Gingerbread.
Well, it's not a problem of specs of the G3, since 2.3 is available for the HTC tatoo that is weaker than our G3. this friend of mine has one and he said that 2.3 is the fastest rom that he had.
It's just a matter that someone make a port of 2.3, you can forget samsung of course.
Hope mad team can port it

SGS notification bar controls on Nexus S?

I am/was a Galaxy S user. Loved TW Launcher and the several controls being integrated in to thee notification drop down. How can I get the latter on my new Nexus S?
I recently downloaded a big zip with a bunch of SGS apks longer the tW launcher.. Might the drop down controls be in there?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Go to the theme section and there is a mod to add them. Must be on GRJ22 and deodexed.

Or, go back to SGS. Its a much better phone than Nexus S. Soon you would miss other things about it as well.
I took the same journey assuming Nexus S to be better and feel for AOSP experience, but was glad to be back on SGS. New JVP ROM (2.3.4) has totally transformed the experience on SGS.
99% of people that have owned both phones would probably disagree with you. Yea, galaxy s has nice features. Doesn't touch the nexus s though. Sorry

AGREED 100% this is coming from a guy who started off with motorola milestone>SGS>HTC desire Z> now the SNS. and i can say without a doubt the SNS is the best, even without a qwerty keyboard. I love the roms out there and pure google experience just gotta get used to touch screen but the gingerbread keyboard made that one a piece of cake!
I should have mentioned I9000. Not the one you get in US with keyboard. In what respects do you reckon NS is better?

Every. I prefer stock android over TW or Sense or Blur. We have i9000 equivalents here in the states as well. The vibrant is nearly the same device. We actually have 5 or 6, maybe a few more variants of GS phones here.

Keyboard is epic 4g. I used a vibrant and definitely prefer ns. I personally needed cm7 and jumped ships. Didn't like team whiskeys work. People gave them more credit for no reason.

just isntall cyan 7 ROM. it has the control shortcuts in the notification bar, and you can customize them too. it also has individual swipe notifications away to clear them, one by one.

It's a early stage of porting on ACE, maybe our dev will be faster than ACE devs. Who is ready for the race ??

Pointless, better to port it directly from a htc device, but trust me, with 256MB RAM, Sense will lag like $#!T
Still, it is a nice thing, as it ain't just the launcher.
Yes it's not a bad idea to make something like MIUIzzzzz with sense mayne SensUizzzzzzz (i want to sleep....xD)
Or we can try to port it from the HTC Wildfire S or not S it has similar specs ...
Correct me if i'm wrong
Just for those who like this UI, u got a nice theme for CM7 here
Good luck if someone start this port
Htc explorer has similar specs. We can try that

Sense is ugly for me,but ill make a suggestion.it would be pointless to make a port out of a port.ace doesnt have offical sense, its also ported.so we need a phone, with similar specs and sense.

Like wildfire ??
Yeah. We can port from Wildfire or Explorer. Both have the same specs (mostly like resolution and cpu)
So does somebody have the knoweldge, the time .... To beguin a port ??

Good news, I suppose, after Samsung stated that they would NOT release ICS roms for the Galaxy S (I9000) or Galaxy Tab (P1000), so all we can look forward too is the Value Pack upgrade.
I have installed the Value Pack Rom on my Samsung Galaxy S (I9000), and it's pretty cool & quick.
what about other countries?

really?
Well...don't have a usable camera in CM9, many bugs, forced closes, restarts and battery usage(it screwed up my battery and had to change it after some CM9 and AOKP flashes). So that's why I prefer the stock rom...
Also, a good version is CM7 Boca...it really moves incredible!!!
Cheers!
