[Q] Boot animation location - Xperia Play General

So I accidentally deleted the original bootanimation.zip when I was trying to install another bootanimation. I paste a bootanimation.zip file in the system/media/ folder and reboot but I still get a black screen. I even tried the /data/local/ folder and again same results. Anyone know where I am supposed to be this file as nothing works? Thank you in advance.

Did you set the right permissions before rebooting? It's in /system/media and permissions is 'rw-r--r--'

@androhero I'm no closer than when I got the play, I'm really just an end user with some basic knowledge and how to make this work is over my head But maybe when things get settled with the bigger development things going on one of the brighter heads here could take it on. One could think of freexperia team
Regards Dousan...

Thank you for the screenshot, I applied what you showed me and I am still not getting a bootanimation when I reboot. Still getting black screen. I will try a different bootanimation file, maybe the one I am using is bad or maybe the phone does not like it. Thank you for your help though Dousn I realy appreciate it.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why my bootscreen is not working?

Make sure your bootanimation.zip is zipped up with no compression

Nexus S live Wallpapers

Does anyone have them and successfully installed them on the X?
I personally haven't tried them yet. Will let you know how they run on the X.
Check out this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=872923
I read that after I posted this thread, but they do not work, atleast I haven't gotten them too on my DX.
I have it working on a gingerbread themed fission 2.3.1
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
What method did you use? The update.zip method or did you move the .apk file into the system? I tried the update.zip on my rooted X with the stock ROM and it did nothing.
Edit: I just moved the livewallpaper.apk file into system/app and it still didn't work. Maybe the Fission ROM adds something that lets it work?
Its only one live wallpaper. I manually moved it but don't forget to set permissions.
I used the update.zip file and it shows under live wallpapers as nexus.
Neither the update.zip or manually moving the apk installed this. Im on Apex 1.3 currently.
After you move the Nexus livewallpapers.apk to /system/app make sure to change it's permissions to User: R/W, Group: R, Others: R. After changing permissions, simply reboot and it'll automatically install.
By the way, make a backup of your original livewallpapers.apk (just rename it to livewallpapers.bak or something) before moving over the Nexus version.

The Nexus one is the only one I could get to install. I had to use Fission Rom Manager to load Microbe.
You need to make sure to mount your system before the install as others have said. It might be worth downloading the update.zip again to be certain the full file downloaded.
Just throwing out ideas.
And since it wasn't in the thread this is what microbe looks like. It's pretty cool. you tap to put those little white dots on the screen. the red blue green and yellow microbes swim around eating it getting bigger then budding off into more little guys. there's actually kind of a lot going on. I think that's why it runs a little slower.

[BOOT ANIMATION] Coin

Boot animation optimized for LG Optimus One P500
This is a boot animation, loosely based on this "Rotten Apple" animation.
High-quality boot animations appear to lag on Optimus One. No matter how much tweaks I have applied, the boot time GPU driver seems to allocate less system resources than the default driver, resulting in low preformance while playing boot animations.
The images from this animation are compressed, thus resulting in lower space and GPU memory used (but not lower quality!!!) and optimal performance.

How to install:
First, you must have superuser access, in other words, be rooted. If you don't know what it is, look here.
If you are rooted, you should use adb, Droid Explorer, Terminal Emulator or Root Explorer to copy bootimage.zip to /data/local/.
I recommend using either Droid Explorer (Program running on .NET and partially Mono) or Root Explorer (Program running on your phone).
If you prefer to use a terminal, type:
su (After this you should give the terminal you are using superuser access)
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock1 /system (If you are running CyanogenMod 7 or another build that is using ext4, replace "yaffs2" with "ext4")
cp /sdcard/bootimage.zip /data/local/ (Assuming the bootimage.zip is in the root of the SD card)
reboot (In case you wish to try out the new boot animation)
nice thanks

I just made this animation because I was sick of the "android" logo and none of the HD boot animations ran smoothly. I'm glad if you like it, but don't ask me to do more animations. I'm not an image/animation designer and I don't like spending my time doing something I won't use.
Cool animation!
just tried it and works perfectly on my O1
thanks mate!

Honeybee boot animation (320x480)

Hi,
This is another boot animation for phones with 320x480 resolution such as ours.
To be frank, I don't know who is the original creator of this boot animation, since there are many variations out there.
Perhaps GchildT is the original creator; his thread is here.
Anyway, since I don't like black 'empty' background, I added 'starry night' background and optimized images to 320x480 to fit on our phone.
Hope you like it.

I don't think it is necessary, but to be safe, do nand backup before doing following steps:
get attached file
reboot to recovery, choose 'Mounts', 'Mount /system', and 'Mount /data'
connect phone with your pc
on your pc, open command prompt and check where original file 'bootanimation.zip' is located
try 'adb shell ls /system/media/bootanimation.zip' or 'adb shell ls /data/local/bootanimation.zip'
type 'adb push bootanimation.zip /system/media' if original bootanimation.zip is in directory '/system/media'
otherwise, type 'adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local' if original bootanimation.zip is in directory '/data/local'
reboot
Attached file is not flashable!!!

I decided to share with you
Landscape (download and rename it to bootanimation.zip)
Portrait (download and rename it to bootanimation.zip)
I recommend the one in lendscape mode, but for those who just want bootanimation in portrait mode (slightly elongated ).... I made it.
I make a bootanimation sound...
If I remember correctly, you need to put android_sound.mp3 to /system/customize/resource/ directory
P.S.
After download, rename android_audio.mp3.zip to android_audio.mp3
Enjoy
tnx man. Now I have the same bootanimations on both devices

At the rom you are using, animations are located in /data/local directory.
1. Download LS or PO-bootanimation.zip and rename it to bootanimation.zip
2. With some file manager (RootExplorer) copy the new animation over the old in /data/local directory.
3. After copying, change permissions (rw-, r -, r -)
4. reboot the beast
It should work
I tryed, but no effect. Actually i'm flashing AIO 5.0.2 now, and i'll try again....

edit: you should give it a try...
I've tried all possible permission modes which include a read permission but nothing worked. Thanks for your reply, but as I already said, this is senseless.

that's quite nice but I don't like how the shadow jumps when the animation reloops, you need to rerender each frame instead of just rotating the original shape to keep the shadow at the same angle.
