Mod]sense 3.0 lockscreen for aosp[8/14] - Thunderbolt Android Development

This is more a proof of concept i have been working on since yesterday. I love aosp roms but i hate the lockscreens, sense 3.0 is where its at. I stumbled upon a new lockscreen that may be ported into the cm7 roms soon. Its a honeycomb sytle lock. It is available in the OMFGB nightlies only.
I basically modded the framework.res with png's i found from the miui & widgetlocker sense 3.0 lockscreen themes. As you can see from my screenshots this looks very similar to the sense lockscreen. The only thing it will not have is the 4 shortcuts.
Now i need some testers and some modders to help me out in porting this from OMFGB to other aosp roms such as cm7 & liquid. I am a themer, not a coder. As you can see from my screenshots i cannot get the ring to recess at the bottom and when you go to unlock it cuts the top of the ring off. This is where i need help, i believe a resource file or xml in the framework needs to be modded, i cannot do this.
To me this has huge potential, we could possibly even port custom rings over like we have for sense roms.
*Credits go to whoever created this honeycomb lockscreen and to the makers of OMFGB.
Lets see what we can do with this guys. Pm me if you feel you can help finish off this mod.
http://imageshack.us/g/560/snap20110814101033.png/
Edit: I have attached two zips below. The sense_theme can be flashed via clockwork on OMFGB only to show you guys the work i have done. The sense3d zip is all the files i used to do the mod and the framework.res from OMFGB. feel free to use this to help get this lockscreen completed. So you know, i flashed a different style font to get the excact look of my screenshots, yours may look different depending on what fonts you use.
R2doesinc is now onboard to help finish what i started. He said he will include this in a future OMFGB nightly. But as we know alot of projects never get finished so if you feel you can help with this theme or use it in your aosp rom, get in contact with me. I definitely want to see this concept be completed.

reserved for whatever.

I love this. I cant help but I can test.

Outstanding. Clearly the potential is there. This is the ONLY part of sense I miss. I even like it without the shortcuts. Make it black and I'm done. I will be following this with much anticipation. Thanks again.

Definitely interested. Just went over to uber bamf and although very nice, to me AOSP is just smoother. But like you said, sense 3.0 lockscreen is amazing so I'm here as well to test out. Wish I could be of more assistance but I don't know how to code. hopefully this gets worked out.

i could make a black ring, we just need to find a way to make the ring recessed at the bottom and not cut off when unlocking. i doubt we will be able to make shortcuts as of now. i also love the look, we just need to get this ported to cm7 and or other aosp roms. right now it only works in OMFGB. hopefully the cm team will approve the honey lock into his nightlies, i know it has been submitted already.

lol yeah, i have no idea how to mod xml's or resources. that's what i think need to be done to position the ring properly. best of all this works better than any 3rd party market app out there right now.

Heads up. potential for more tester coming your way... a link to the was created on Android Central

this was posted at rootzwiki as well. testers yes, i need them but i also need a devs help to edit the theme so the ring is positioned correctly. i hope we can get this to work on all aosp roms. as i said the potential for this is HUGE. i can see custom rings being ported over as well. it's like having the best of both worlds here while not taking away any elements from aosp.

Amazing. I don't normally run OMFGB so I can't use it on my AOSP rom right now, but I'll flash later in the day just to try it out.

i normally use liquid aosp but im switching to OMFGB for the time being to work on this.

to get this ported to all AOSP's would be awesome... no matter what ROM's im testing or trying, i always seem to come back to CM7.

Im going back to liquid until this can be ported over. i hope the cm team approves the lockscreen so i can theme it. if anybody wants to continue developing this to get the ring sorted out, pm me.

Hmm...400+ views and hardly no replies? Doesnt seem like alot of interest here.

I'm totally interested. Unfortunately all I can offer you is to be a tester.

Fix, I can test but cannot mod. I am running CM7
Sent from my Verizon Wireless, 1.8Ghz Processor, ThunderBolt!

R2doesinc is now onboard. Im mobile right now. Ill update the thread tonight.

ive been talking to R2 and this will be available shortly in their nightly. he is also implementing the 4 shortcuts with a on & off type toggle so everyone can be happy. once this is complete i hope we can get the aosp devs to port it to their roms. the source will be available on the githubs. glad i started this and never thought it would actually take off.

Going to start my own ROM

So, with all these ROM's flying around, i am deciding to create my own. But i have One big question, is there really any reason for me to? Seeing as there are already so many good ones out there, would mine be welcome with open arms and tested by people? Am just curious before i start cooking.

you'll never know unless u try. Some roms are received better than others; for what reason I don't know.
Do your best and post it. People will try it.
If you build it they will come
Alright, ty Im installing the kitchen setup now, so ill get to work on a sense based ROM first before i dive into a vanilla ROM(which i prefer)
Its always better to have more choices I believe. And who knows, you might become the next American ROM Cook.
welcome to the wonderful world of ROM creating..have fun, test, trial and error everything u compile..and who knows just like Kevlar said..
u may very well be the next American ROM Chef
if you finish that sense rom try and put htc widgets on a non sense rom! that would be so freaking cool!!!

Hehe, I'll bet if you make it "cool" enough looking and show this in screenshots, some people will try it on that alone.
And like mentioned regarding 3rd-party apps, even though they are "free", their license doesn't always allow anyone to freely distribute them.

Put me on the list of testers if you need anymore
ok, so, ive made some alterations, apps, launcher ect, and wated to load it up and test it, well when i went to flash it, it said cant find.....(bad), any ideas?
Ill be more than happy to help you test this ROM out...
I'll also test for any up and coming devs out there. but i will give you guys some tips on which roms i choose and why.
1. Everything has to work. I use my exchange email, gps, wifi and maps on a regular basis.
2. I love having the ability to overclock but i dont really see a point for ridiculous frequencies. Its not like i'm running a gaming server from my phone. I have the ability to overclock to 825 mhz and still be stable with my current rom but i keep it at 710 for my battery life.
3. I love having different launchers, lock screens, status bars and things like that but live wallpapers are a no go. Every time i touch a live wallpaper my phone freezes and reboots.
Right now i am using ic3rom 2.7 because everything works and it has wired tethering.
If you guys can create a rom that everything works and do some extensive photoshopping it is almost guaranteed to be a hit.
Hit me up on andirc.net #droideris
I'm lurking occasionally. But I'd love to even get involved in cooking up some roms with DS36 or chaous2000
I'm d33d in the chat, and I'm available at alexinslc [attttt] gmail [dottttt] com
Isn't that what open source is about? I'm no master of code, but I can learn fast.
Also, my eris is open to testing roms with very similar guidelines (must have exchange, gmail, txting, and phone.) that's about it. Would like 3G and Wifi if possible.

Am I the only person that is thinking like this?

Two things...
Why are the new gingerbread ROMs (OMGB and Evervolv) themed and modified to hell and back? Why can't someone just import things (one by one) to build a stock vanilla gingerbread ROM, and then work from there? I don't want anything altered from the basic vanilla ROM but here we are, dealing with all these customizations and different themes already applied and apps thrown onto there (other than the basics like SU). I don't want any music app on my phone so WHY FORCE ME TO HAVE ONE? I don't want to only have to choose between 2 ROMs to enjoy gingerbread this early. This ultimately leads me having to alter things to GET IT BACK TO A VANILLA ROM.
Also, why must all themes have to be rainbow-eccentric and have no "flowing" colors? Most of the themes are just an eye-sore and make me think the "designer" is colorblind and leaves me to theming everything myself. No, the app doesn't look good if it has a STRONG RED next to a DEEP BLACK, with STRONG BLUE somewhere mixed in.
so, if you dont like whats being offered by the devs, step up and make your own ROM's. if you read through the threads, most users do like what is being offered and that is why they are so popular. personally i cant stand the vanilla android experiance and am currently rocking Nils Biz-sence rom...

This.
Why haven't you "imported things (one by one) to build a stock vanilla gingerbread ROM" if it's so easy? These devs are theming their ROMs to their (and other users') liking, and they are nice enough to post them here. Appreciate that for what it is.
I'd like a vanilla rom that I could customize myself, but I would prefer to have someone else do the work so I'll take what they give me.

I'm not saying it's easy, I can't do what the CM team has done, (because that's what they're doing; taking the CM fixes, applying them, and theming it to their liking) but why are the 2 only ROM dev's right now working on adding **** to a version of android that ISN'T already built for the Incredible? Why can't they make a vanilla ROM, AND THEN customize it to their liking?

So you'd rather have what someone else likes and thinks is "right" instead of what YOU want on YOUR phone? I'm not saying it's a bad thing but why wouldn't you want your own customizations instead of someone elses?

step 1 - get a computer
step 2 - learn to spell "definitely"
step 3 - learn to program in java
step 4 - learn to use linux
step 5 - learn extensible markups and the android os
step 6 - cook a rom
step 7 - post it on xda and ask for donations for step 8

But to address you, I've put hours into making my own ROM so it's to my own liking, and no I'm not going to upload it to the forums or show you proof because I simply do not feel the need to prove something to anonymous forum users for satisfaction.

[Q] A touchwiz/cyanogen hybrid?

Hello xda, I was wondering if anyone would like to see a rom/mod I made and have been playing around with. I was thinking about compiling a finshed project on this upcoming sunday after I make and add some cool things like a custom transparent notification bar, clear backgrounds behind the icons, transparent drawer, etc.
The only question is..anyone interested?
I'd be down to try it out. I change roms every other day for something new.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
I'm also interested. I'll give it a try if you post it.
No one will condemn you for trying, and every effort is appreciated. Of course you can expect a flood of reports if it doesn't work or lacks functionality, but that's the point of posting ROMs here, to get feedback and make them better. Good luck, hope to see something soon.
I will definitely give it a shot.
Release it. I am sure many other MT4G users will appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

looks good. cant wait till its done.
Was this ever completed? Anything like this out there?
I was gonna do this, but I already found out that there is a TouchWiz theme for the CM7 for the CM7 theme chooser, (as well as more selections, such as Sony's TimeScape, Vanilla Froyo, MotoBlur)... So I just left that and used the themes instead, they're pretty amazing.
Awesome, thanks for the feedback, and quick reply!

most of below still applies. enjoy the rom guys! feedback, bugs, etc.; please list so i can work on it! going on vacation in two days so no new release for at least a week. it will be nice to not flash a rom 10 times a day for once
THIS IS AN AOSP ROM!!!
I use the 704 radio; it works for me. If it doesn't for you, oh well, try another. (NOT 100% FUNCTIONAL, IM CURRENTLY EXPERIMENTING WITH ALL RADIOS
Thanks to DroidTh3ory. and Slayher for the 2.3.5 build
and again. and again and again. and again and again and again.
and thanks to the cyangenmod team, and chingy for the radio, jcase for everything. slayher, imoseyon, viperboy and nerozhel

same to zhp pilot, and debian dog
droid pirate for icons
bp328i for theme help.
And DroidTh3ory again, and slayher, and nero, to be thorough
This is more designed for me than a community, but am sharing in case it fits anothers fancy
So its AOSP.
I removed most live wall papers. I dont use them
moved maps and terminal and to data/app, and added a few like youtube, titanium back up, and google sky map (people dont pay enough attention to the stars; heres your chance)
its themed out the wazoo. i spent the most time on that and thats where most of the contributions also come in. its blue, cyan, black, and a lot of high res icons
build.prop is slightly tweaked, memory management is all DroidTh3orys work, I dont know enough about it all to alter and keep it all working
I highly recommend using ADW EX. its simply amazing.
So far the only 'issue' I see is that the battery meter won't animate/move while charging. I need a beer so bad that I'm not working on that any further today.
Feedback and "Thanks" are appreciated, but all real credit and such go to DroidTh3ory. Any questions, fill the thread.
Mirror it if you'd like, but I doubt that many will be clogging up the servers.
enjoy!

Nice. Any chance that someone can start a thread on how to create your own ROM. What tools to use, what to read and how to properly ask for help. I would love to create my own as well since as soon as I install any rom i liposuction the bloat out add better apps and utilities.

Lol. I know. He's an android.
Hi shelooga-love the ROM. Did not need to but had to try it and great, fast ROM. Could not help myself and added Sense Analog Clock Dark and Thunderbolt Wallpapers from Market but that is it. Below is screenshot of homepage.
Thank You!

Thanks for posting the rom. I'm going to give it a shot and play around with it some later. I'm just now beginning to learn the ins and outs, and inside outs, of roms, and doing some theming. I just wanted to congratulate you on building a beautiful rom, and THANKS for taking a few minutes to answer some questions. That's how a lot of us get started.
lets keep this rom alive!

TEAM BLISS Sense 3.5

I have never done this before, and I am not affiliated with the Dev team, aside from being a huge fan of them, but I just wanted to let everyone in the Incredible community to know about a Rom that Team Bliss ported over which is currently running sense 3.5 I just started using this Rom this morning and it is by far the BEST sense Rom I have ever used. The Rom is only in beta stages now but it is already good enough to run as a daily, at least for me. All the main functions work, 3G, WiFi, GPS etc. Also you can receive MMS while WiFi is on! There are still a few bugs here and there but nothing that can't be fixed by this dream team of Devs. Please try the Rom and if you like it donate to the team or at least hit the thanks button. THANK YOU SO MUCH TEAM BLISS, I feel like I got a brand new phone.

I completely agree, although I'm currently running Wildstang's 3.0 rom that is smooth as hell, that new rosie seems very intriguing.
If I've helped you, hit the thanks button!
Agreed. It is very stable for being in Beta. If it wasn't for that pesky Camera FC, internal storage issues, and not being able to see the skins/wallpapers this ROM would most likely be considered a stable or at least a good DD.
Need help
I am looking for an oc kernel for the new bliss team rom with 3.5 sense. Any help would be appreciated
Good luck with that Steaven.
Cam fc is due to the cam being in Burst mode, change modes and the fc goes away. HDR works great. Unfortunately the default is burst so you have to change it every time.
Can't wait to see where this Rom ends up. We can make this thread a discussion about it so we don't fill the ot with our blaberings.

There's one kernel with OC support that works on gingerbread sense ROMs and that's mine and I don't recommend it for this ROM as you'll lose the ability to mount the sdcard to copy and view files from the PC. Run stock if you want that working, otherwise you can use my kernel in the development section. It's a quick ROM from what I used without overclocking.
Some cool tricks I found. Can't put my phone down lol.
You can change the tabs on the new quick launch widget by dragging it to the edit circle on the bottom left of the screen. Beats erasing it over and over to edit.
Also you can change the tabs on the bottom of screen on some apps like People and Phone. Hit menu/more/edit tabs.
I will be using the app boot manager to multi boot this rom. not really worried about the sd card not mounting as cm7 will be my phone rom and can someone post a link to tiny's kernel?
Been keeping my eye on this one, these guys ( devs) really rock! The time and dedication they put into theses Rome is truly appreciated.
my Dinc
I'm running it right now, and I think it's great. It's a little slow, but it sure is pretty to look at.
I hope the devs fix the browser so it properly word-wraps text when you zoom in.
Can't seem to find this one. Anyone have a link?

Well in the development forums you should find it. I think it's called HTC bliss sense 3.5
This project has been cancelled due to a better more compatible version of 3.5 on the Runnymede. Newtoroot just released a beta version, which is fantastic. If anyone was looking to try Bliss I would check out Runny first.
How install runny?,because I can't error E: can'topen/sdcard/primexl3d.zip.please help me
