Can we port FM RDS support to another ROMs? - Blade General

Hi, Swedish Spring is the only ROM that i know that inludes Radio Data System Support on FM.
is there a way to integrate this feature to other ROMs?

you need to add right files to other ROM (Replace)
ex: libril.so
...
and swedish spring is not only one which have it!

What ROM(s) are you taking about?
I've tested:
My stock ROM (Froyo) ------------------- No RDS
2 Swedish Spring Based ROMS ---- RDS Support, (of course)
2 ZTE leaked kernel ROMS -------- No RDS
-GSF
-Blue Ginger
1 ZTE Libra ROM ----------------- No RDS
1 CyanogenMod 7 Nightlies ------- No tested because FM radio only works with a modified FM app, if I try FM_ZTE.apl app, it crash. And modiffied FM app does not include RDS

Example:
TeliaSonera Stock 2.2 ROM which can be flashed with .exe file
maybe Sapo A5 stock 2.2 ROM
I use CM 7 nightly 161 and FM radio works and maybe zte fm radio works with it too..
if you want to get official ZTE FM radio to work on other version then you need to edit zte-fm...? .apk files!

Stock Roms with froyo, yep. I'm with SSpring that eats a lot of battery
I'll make some experiments with libs and modules to add this feature on Ginger
Thanks anyway.

OK
If you find TeliaSonera Stock 2.2 ROM without .EXE then you can get good radio files to GingerBread (not to CM)

[Q]FMradio for cyanomod 7 on htc click/tattoo?

Hi all, I have a question, the rom made by cyanomod based on gingerbread is awesome but there aren't an fmradio app.
fmmodule appear disable, in a next release it will be functionally?
thanks sorry for my english
FM radio on Tattoo is not supported. There is no custom ROM based on Android 2.x with FM radio functionality. The only possibility is to stay with the stock ROM (on Android 1.6) but this is not your case.
The same with Camera app which is not fully working as well. We have a solution which is nearlly finished but still there is missing functionality (Picture preview).
Somebody was working on it (pisaro), but the thread is not in the devs forum...so no many people can help, but he did a great progress.

[RIL] Radio Interface Libraries

RIL files for Desire HD Radios
About:
RIL is a library that acts as a bridge between your device's phone functions and the radio firmware in your device's communications chip (radio). Matching radio and RIL is always a good combination when you think of signal stability and battery consumption. That is why you should flash a matching RIL when you flash a new radio. Only for Sense based ROMs (not for CM or MIUI). You DO NOT need to flash a RIL if you use a recommended radio for a ROM. You need to flash RIL again if you flash another ROM.
How to flash:
Flash in ClockworkMod like a ROM, but do not wipe anything. You have to flash the RIL again if you flash a new ROM some day.
RIL files:
RIL for 12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M - HTC WWE 1.32.405.6

FAQ:
Q: I have fU or fP in my radio, can I still use a RIL without that letter?
- Yes, no problem.
Q: I am using Radio_12.48.60.23U_26.08.04.07_M3, which RIL should I use?
- Use the RIL for 12.35d.60.140f_26.08.03.07_M
Q: Is it necessary to flash RIL again when I flash a new ROM?
- Yes, because ROM replaces the RIL you flashed separately.
Q: My ROM developer recommends a certain radio. Why?
- The ROM has a RIL for the recommended radio in it, you can change it by flashing one of the packages in first post.

As an old WinMo user, I was always wondering why no one is flashing coresponding RIL... It was normal for WM...
How can I have not heard of this before? Anyways the links aren't working. I am being asked for password and username.
Read the first post, links will be up in a moment
How to flash?
I assume you flash with fastboot? Same as radio.img or splash.img?
Are you going to release a Radio_12.35d.60.140fU_26.08.03.07_M In addition, how is loading

Great thread!
Thanks jkoljo,super
do you have RIL for 2.08.04 ???
Do you mean the newest radio, from unknown source? No. Use the 12.35d.60.140fU_26.08.03.07_M RIL for that radio.
Do you know how much this is able to increase battery life / signal?
I think you missed the
system\bin\rild
file
Hi,
Will there be any RIL for this radio 26.08.04.07_M3?
Regards Roger
Edit: didn't update the thread here. So i saw your answer now

Thanks for this. Wondered how long it would be before someone did this.
Cheers.
How dangerous is this in terms of bricking your device?
I mean, I'll do it anyway, but I'm just curious
It isn't dangerous, the files reside in the rom data in /system/ which brings me to my question, do you have to mount /system with these? I know you had to with the zips from the desire forum
Zero percent The package handles mount and unmount itself.

[Q] ROMS

Hello everybody..
I flashed the new Gingerbread 2.3.3 explicitly for Bluetooth as i need it a lot.
But i miss the SENSE U.I 1.6 and i can't flash the Froyo Sense
Is there any rom out there(1.6) that supports Sending and Receving files.
If not can anybody explain me how to flash The Dexters FROYO SENSE ?!
Thanx up ahead.
There isn't any 1.6 rom which have both sense and bluetooth file transfer, so Froyo sense is the only option to have them both.
Why you can't flash froyo sense? What error you get?
Uhm, in clockwork mod recovery in the middle of the flash i get some error.
i've done a full wipe of cache. i dindn't brick my phone it just won't flash that one. every other rom i tried it was succsesufulle
I also tried to make bluetooth file transfer work but it didn't. I once tried the Froyo sense ROM and it flashed fine. Did you try to download the ROM again? The zip may be corrupt.

Amend scripting (update-script) is no longer supported.
Amend scripting was deprecated by Google in Android 1.5.
It was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the ClockworkMod 3.0 Gingerbread based recovery.
Please switch to Edify scripting (updater-script and update-binary) to create working update zip packages.

[Q] TEST ANDROID over other Windows Mobile ROM

I want to know if it is worth a try? What do you think? I sounds like a good idea

I dont know what Roms you have available for your device but it may be worth adding a section with what Roms (stock or custom) work with Android and what ones arent working correctly. While Android is emulated, there are still some WinMo drivers that affect the operation of your Android port and certain Roms may not work.
It may be worth trying to flash a different Rom and then try Android again.
Mark.

I currently use:
ROM-Version (Vodafone)Switzerland German: 1.41.166.1, (10904) Radio:0.63.05.41
the next one I will try is:
[ROM][25.06.2011][WWE-ITA-FRA-ELL-GER-RUS-SPA-NLD-DAN] ver 3.10 nsourm -build 29022
ver.5 - RUU_Signed_????no_sense_clean.nbh is without sense and cookies home tab and without extra apps.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=801481
The nsourm rom is highly recommended and very stable (version 3.1) I also run this base WM6.5 ROM too (without sense and without cookies home tab). It seems to be quite compatible with the Android port as it mostly follows stock rom philosophy.
The other optional cab that has been installed is the stock icons.cab located here as without it, my SPB shell doesn't show all the icons properly. I have no problems with the Android Loader 1.0 dual boot application (set to autoboot after 10 seconds). I'd first flash the stock ROM then this one if wanting to change from another custom ROM.
you tried over nsourm 3.1 and Android works well, but have you tried over your stock ROM? and have you noticed any difference? such as. that something works better, or that something is not working at all?
I have not tried Android with my stock ROM and don't want to go back to stock ROM either as I still need to use WM6.5 from time to time - because there is no Garmin for Android! Stock ROM used to crash often whereas with nsourm 3.1 it is definitely much more stable given it incorporates more recent builds. I would assume that given nsourm is close to stock ROM philosophy (but with much more recent builds) that there would not be much difference to anything that ran in Android. Maybe someone has already tested for the differences.. and can let us know the results!
Hi, 15Ma1l,
I tried four different of HTC Official ROMs for my htc mini, and I can say: There isn't any Difference and all of them were same when booting android. and I knew this idea for months.
but I didn't tried nsourm ROM, because of arabic persian unicode support?
thank you for answers !
iPlasm could you please write a list with these ROMs you already tried?

2- RUU_Photon_HTC_ARA_1.36.415.4_Radio_Signed_32.2807.05.06_0.63.05.41_Ship
3- RUU_Photon_HTC_ITA_1.36.408.1_Radio_Signed_32.2803.05.06_0.63.05.36_Ship

If there is better than these ROM images, I will Thank you for you... but IT Must support Unicode arabic and persian

[Q] Paranoid Android Missing radio

So I've been wondering why does Paranoid Android is missing the Radio Fm app. I have installed other roms too that supported FM radio so it's not that my phone (HTC HD2) that doesn't support it so i am really buzzed with paranoid not having included it.
Any suggestions? Are there apps to download for OFFLINE radio? Is there a separate zip to install to have the extra apps?
Please tell me! Really appreciate it...!
