[Q] Rooting changed Model No - Galaxy 3 General

Hi All,
I have bought Samsung Galaxy 3 5 months back... the model no is GT-I5801. I did rooting to upgrade from Android 2.1 to 2.2 but the model no got changed to GT-I5800. Now my phone is dead slow... battery also got drained soon.
I really frustrated by using this change.
Can you anyone please help on this how to rollback all these things.

Hi
What do you mean?
Flash the same way as we flash roms?
Coz I would be in download mode, so how come can I have apps running?
Even I need i5801 during boot, as I dropped my cell in water, its working fine now but I can't hear during a call or play a song (I mean things are not audible & so I need to contact Samsung care center) so need either ddjp2 wid bootloader or the file you provided.
Thanks in advanced.

^I guess what he meant was that close all the background applications on your PC/Laptop before initializing the process.

here you can find how to flash and here you can find all fw from samsung. But I don't recommend you use GB firmwares, they are development versions and have some bugs. The most stable and usable fw is XXKB3

You absolutely can. The Indian firmware is only because of Hindi or telegu etc language packs and yeah no one speaks modern Hindi anymore it's all English spelt Hindi. Like 'ye kya hai ' so XXKB3 is your perfect bet. Also the default language is Russian but at startup you can choose english or it does it automatically by selecting your region from SIM. Gl and safe flash

Successfully flashed to FW KB3.
The issue I am facing is GPS lock its taking around 20 sec to get lock and its not steady after few seconds the lock is getting released..Please help.

I think its time to create an official warning about upgrading using Kies

Over the past week I have helped 3 people that have had there phones messed up by the updating process of Kies. Thankfully they was all recoverable, but I actually think it won't be long before we see bricks using this software;+( So be careful guys, use Odin whenever you can

I update using Kies and it went fine, don't have any other software on my laptop.
How do you mind explaining ?

Well its been kicking phones out mid flash, if this happens while flashing the radio segment, its a dead phone:/
If you check intratechs thread in the dev section it will show you a better and safer method through Odin. Plus you will have the advantages of getting roms earlier sometimes

Yes they have in the past on SGS 1 or at least fixed the phone FOC .
Plus a bricked phone is very rare on SGS flash stock rom through Odin cures 99% .
Dead radio just flash a new Modem through Odin .

If the radio has been partially flashed and stopped mid flash i think that corrupts the baseband with no return. I remember that the only real way to brick a Nexus was to stop the flash process while the baseband was being wrote to.
And yes samsung would be obliged to give you a new phone or repair the damage caused if Kies is the culprit
Yeh kies is not very good, I've had many time outs.
If you are worried about flashing via odin don't be you can get official Rom to flash via odin.
They are Roms that Samsung has releases .
Read the simple instructions and flash via odin, once you do it one you will see how easy it is

I can't help but wondering how on earth someone manages to mess up a Kies update?
Unless they are running some custom rom/kernel...or somehow have a running process that interferes with kies during the update.
I have never had a problem updating through kies from official firmware.
So I am a bit puzzled when I hear this...
Yes, thanks a lot for creating this thread. Kies has been suffering in the firmware upgrade issue for a long time now. It is time for solving the issue with sincere urgency.
SHAME ON SAMSUNG.
Regards.
Yeah u r right,,,kies dont even work anymore,,,whenever i try to update,it just download the firmware and just before the flashing process a message pop up saying "FirmwareUpdate has been stopped",,,its damn irritating,,,i guess it doesnt work on Win 7...
But i wanted to ask something for a while,,,i see some people here are just "obsessed" with flashing firmwares and roms now and then ,,,,i wonder that isnt it a bit tiring to install all those apps again and again,,i mean i know google restores ur apps,,,but what about those which are ummm cracked?? (i kinda have alot of cracked games i bought only a few)...
Atleast with a Kies update all ur apps remain secure...

Kies from day one has been unreliable for a number of reasons mostly not user problems .
For starters its driver setup and use has always been poor .
Its connection setup is not robust likewise its failure to recover from broken downloads .
Kies in a nutshell does not recover from errors and is error prone even for the most advanced users .

It's just a matter of bad luck. It can happen, and maybe it'll happen to you one day. You can't always blame this on the user. Like for example, there's a power blackout in the middle of a flash and your computer suddenly turns off. Nothing you can do about it, yet you're screwed.
Kies is like that, it's a not a completely safe piece of sofware. Even flashing the bios on a computer isn't. Thing is, Odin allows you to flash official firmwares and is generally safer. There's no real reason to prefer Kies over Odin.
on your phone, go Setting:
About phone --> Software update -->Check for update
that got my phone updated to KF4(1st try).. tired with kies but no luck(2-3 hrs+ many dl errors)

Check your battery, but it shouldn't be issue if phone actually starts. I recommended you to read about flashing and install new soft. Maybe you just overused it.

Relax bro, its all right as of now. Try the following then we will see what to do
1. Try to do a factory reset.
2. Try to remove SD Card and then use phone for few hours without it.
3. If Any of the above solves your issue, then post here, else I would strongly suggest you to Flash a Stock ROM. You can contact me if you don,t know how.
Since you are from bangalore, so I am assuming you have a I5801 with Android 2.1 installed by default. Also post if you updated the firmware using KIES?
For the time being, cheer up as our Galaxy 3 is not frail

Yes i will second haree....in warranty period, if you havent made changes to your ROM, you should get it back to service centre and ask them do a proper repair, you can also tell them its a persistent problem. My apologies for not mentioning this as the 1st step above. Thank you haree

GT-i9505x Recovery

Hello, i own a 9505x not a normal 9505, and flashing the existing custom recoveries, do nothing, since i cant boot them.
The root works fine.
Since this 9505x is a demo unit, it has some software restrictions i want to eliminate, like it wont turn off the screen and will keep on playing a Samsung demo, it wont take over 20seconds videos and some other annoying stuff, i am trying to make it a retail unit.
Any suggestions ?
Why did you post this here in "Android Development"?
Can some admin post it in q and a?
Noone owns one?
same here mate!
i got my hands on a i9505X at work (with sim tray and mmc slot) but i can't deactivate demo (retail) mode. everytime you poweroff the device it wipes every change.
it tried flashed a i9505 stock rom via Odin and it fails in the modem.bin part...
i was sucesslfull at rooting the device, but now my i9505X takes ages to boot (stuck in Samsung Galaxy S4 for a while) and has no wifi
i tried almost every i9050 kernel available with no luck...
any ideas?

Its working, i just messed up the recovery mode by flashing a i9505 recovery and now i cant restore it. I want to unroot it and flash the mew firmware from kies. Thats why i need the stock recovery
Any chance you can extract the stock firmware for your GT-I9505X and upload it please. I have the same device given to me by a Samsung Rep and I stupidly tried to install the stock formware for the i9500 varient and now its had it. It loads the samsung boot screen as soon as you turn it on and then just keeps restarting every 5 seconds. Im hoping if I can get hold of the original firmware and reflash it will work! Cant find the firmware anywhere!

Galaxy S4 Constant Reboots!!!

Hi all, I have had my galaxy s4 I9500 for 4 weeks now and running completely on stock rom I9500UBUAMDK. Only recently I have been having problems with the phone rebooting 3-4 times a day in my pocket! This is getting very frustrating and need an urgent fix! I have already factory reset the phone and there's no warranty as I purchased my phone online and unlocked. If anyone else is having the same problem or could give me advice, please share. Thanks!
