...The A5 isn't even released yet, either!

Yes, i too tried it but no video call support!

I have installed this and tried to test with friend with camera on other end.
I can not get the front facing camera on the Acer to come on - I don't see any video ON OPTION at all. I know the front video camera does work and just tested it working fine
Anyone who can help would be greatly appreciated.

Acer Iconia Smart A5 uses Qualcomm Snapdragon. Skype was no written to work with Tegra2

i have just posted a list of phones and tabs supported on the other thread/
•Acer A5
•HTC Desire (2.2)
•HTC Desire HD
•HTC Evo 3D
•HTC Evo 4G
•HTC Flyer
•HTC Incredible S
•HTC Sensation
•HTC Thunderbolt - Verizon (2.2) (États-Unis uniquement)

•Samsung Droid Charge - Verizon (2.2) (États-Unis uniquement)
•Samsung Galaxy S
•Samsung Galaxy S II
•Samsung Galaxy Tab
•Sony Ericsson Xperia mini pro 2

i suppose skype will certainly be updated to the nvidia chipset earlier or later, at least for 3.2

Very crazy, Samsung Galaxy Tab uses also a NVIDEA Tegra chip.
So why should it not work for A500?

Damn i was thinking that Tab 10.1 is using tegra 2 chip

Has there ever been a mod that made Skype think the tablet was a different model so that it works?

Guess not. We're left with using sub-par video chatting apps that barely anyone uses.

Dell streak 7 or Galaxy TAB

Should I return my Dell streak 7 for a Galaxy TAB?
dell streak has bad display , resolution and everything else! Nothing but bad reviews! compared to the galaxy tab! But if you want honeycomb stay with the streak

I do want honey comb, the Display is not a big issue, but the battery is terrible, I get allot of FCs, and I am hoping Honeycomb does get ported over to dell, I can make outbound calls on the streak which is great.
Thanks.
Dear lord......get the tab. No question about it.

I'm personally waiting on the HTC Flyer. HTC has a huge presence on this board (obviously) and comes with Gingerbread 2.4. I am more apt to believe HTC will upgrade to Honeycomb more than Samsung or Dell anyday.

I'm very interested how the 1.5 MHz processor will perform.
HTC already announced that a upgrade to honeycomb is planned for the flyer.
Return that streak for the Galaxy Tab and use that until the HTC tab comes out, the HTC tab will have massive developer support and there for the most roms and customization options... besides the dell streak has the same resolution as my 3.8 inch Mytouch screen.. that can't look too good stretched across 7 inches.
Galaxy Tab with 1.4Ghz overclocked give far better performance including battery lifetime than Dell Streak.
Bought the streak...trying to get over the resolution. But it was really bad...from what I hear 3.0 will require higher Res any way. I returned it for a tab and pretty happy. I know some one will port honeycomb to our device for sure. Remember G1 was never to run 2.1. Now it has froyo. Get a, an.

Ace display resolution is 320x480 (X10 - 480x852), photo is better in X10. RAM - 384 MB like X10.
Ace is worse than X10 at all.
why swap for a ARMv6 phone? many of my friends using it and they are complaining it! And it even lags when playing angry birds, but our x10 still can handle some HD games, no way you can compare X10 to Ace...

Totally agree! And in Malaysia, Ace is having a same price tag with Mini, Mini Pro, Live with walkman. All of them using the MSM8255, which is superior to MSM7227, in every way.

Specs page?
Samsung and Verizon have equipped this 7-inch tablet with a mediocre 1024 x 600 resolution display (no 720 HD here) Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, Touch Wiz UX, and here’s where things differ. The processor has been changed from a 1.2 GHz OMAP 4 to the popular Qualcomm Snapdraon 1.2 GHz dual-core chip. This is the older S3, and not an S4 mind you. Then you’ll get 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, and as usual a micro-SD slot for expanded storage up to 32GB. Lastly is that Infra-red blaster to use the tablet as a TV remote.

Firefox OS can be built for these devices, but they are not being actively worked on a regular basis by core developers.
Their reliability and feature set may lag noticeably behind tier 1 and even tier 2 devices.
Samsung Galaxy S2
- The only model that works is the i9100; no other variants are officially compatible.
(i9100P might work, since the only change is a NFC chip added)
Samsung Galaxy Nexus
- We are not currently aware of any variations that are not compatible.
