Where did you buy your tab? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

I want to get a Tab this weekend and I've been reading up on the SGT 10.1, problem is I don't know where I should go to buy one... and if I need to, I want to be able to return it with little/no hassle...
Any recommendations?

I bought mine from Costco. $599. 90 day return policy and 2 year warranty. I think it is worth paying retail for those two things.

+1 after considering lower price from Amazon ( meaning no sales tax), immediate availability - but 14 days return policy ( Best Buy) I decided that it's worth to play safe and buy from Costco. Free shipping, had it next day after ordering online, 90 days return policy - the most important thing for me after 6 Asus Transformers fiasco. ( fortunatelly all issues were in 30 day return window)

The local Best Buy. The first Tab that I got bricked itself soon after being powered on and I got a replacement with no hassle. The replacement has been flawless, thankfully.

Got mine at Best Buy. I had a $100 gift card from over a year ago that I never used. Decided to finally use it and put it towards paying for the tab.

I got mine from BB the day it came out. Had to wait while they were unloaded from the truck.

Traded it for an iPad.

+1 Costco return policy is fantastic.

Surprised no one has said this, Staples with the $100 off coupon.

Got mine (Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1) from HH Greg.

I returned my Xoom to Costco right before 90 days. Got my refund + tax. Bought the Tab on Amazon for $599 + no tax + no shipping. Spent the difference plus a few more bucks and bought the bookcase cover.

Thats' where I got mine -- $399. I had been sitting on the fence, but when that coupon came in my email, I wasted no time.

Staples for me too. $100 off was irresistible.

Let's see. I hope you don't get envy. I got mine from BB 32GB, $100 off of staples coupon and $60 reward certificate, ie, $440 for 32GB. ;-)

Sprint store, just billed it to my account and I have 30 day warranty. It will not show on my bill for a month but I already have most of it paid off, also if I did take it back (I wont) I just have my phones paid off for a month or two with my already added payment's.

Fry's electronics

I got mine from BB using the $100 off coupon. The coupon sealed the deal for me.

I got mine from BB on opening day. Glad I did. I bought the Zagg invisible shield and paid for them to install. When they opened the box, the screen had a defect and the had to get another. Then the Zagg I bought was defective and they got another one from the shelf and installed. If I did not have them install the Zagg I would have driven 40 minutes back home only to be mad. Saved me time and not being angry on opening day. BB gives you 30 days on the Zagg install.

Best Bu, 18 months no interest was worth paying retail, didn't hurt at all. No need to return/exchange mine, it's been great so far.

[Off-topic] GTab 10.1 16GB from eBay for $445 shipped (+possible tax)!

Super hot! I'm returning the 32GB I JUST bought from the same seller to get this instead. 16GB is not worth the extra $90 for me
http://cgi.ebay.com/Samsung-Galaxy-...000036&clk_rvr_id=245114915568#ht_4160wt_1139
I too got a 32GB model from them a few days ago. But since that happened to coincide with doube-ebay-bucks day, the difference is only $73 for me. Had I had the opportunity to get the 16GB for $436 (after bux), I probably would have chosen that. But since I have a 32GB that isn't (yet) exibiting any of the flaws that some others are finding, and since it's unlocked, I'll stick with what I have.
But great deal for those looking for one. FWIW, they shipped mine the same day I ordered it, and it took 2 days to get (NY to GA).

Are you aware it's going to cost you a 15% restocking fee to return your 32GB?
"Returns for refund less 15% restock fee within 30 days. Defective items after 30 days need to exercise their factory warranty. We do not accept returns for refunds on tv's unless they are damged in shipping."

Nexus 7 20% Off Office Max

20% off coupon
This is Office Max in-store coupon for 20% off; it includes tablets and eReaders. Of course, Office Max may not be near everyone, but you can try price matching with Staples, Office Depot, Best Buy in-store.
If in-store doesn't work, you can always try through phone order or online chat. I got the 32gb one for $215+tax through Office Depot chat online (rep didn't let me get the 16gb since Office Max website doesn't show the 16gb one).
Used the same coupon and picked up a 32 gb for $233.89 after tax. Good deal! But OM seems to be OOS around orange county, heard they will get new shipment Monday.

I fap to the porn forums on Tapatalk 2
another nice effort from Google
Going to try in a little bit. Will report back but I see no reason why this doesn't work/ Also, living in Florida, computer products are tax free this week for back to school. Other people I have come across have reported that tablets fall under this category, which makes sense.
Damn, nearest office max is 40miles away. Had one been closer I would have bought anew 32gb and return my staples 16gb -$30 coupon.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
$215.99, final price. Quite the savings! Going to return my 16gb best buy one later today.
Very nice! I wished it was tax free in CA. I also bought OM protection plan for 2 years. Anyone have experiences with OMs protection plan? Debating if I should cancel it. The girl that worked there said I can return the tablet in any condition within 2 years and either get it replaced or refunded full amount with a gift card. Sounds too good to be true.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
You should see if there is a deductible and whether it covers lost/stolen and physical damage.
$54 off is amazing. I would jump on it before OM decides to exclude certain devices or cancels the coupon. I paid full price at Amazon the first day it went on sale (Friday). Paid $300 for Saturday delivery. Returning it and buying locally would be lucrative. I wonder if Amazon will price match if I call them. Tell them I'm within my 30 days and I can save $54 if I go through the hassle.
Hmmm.
I sent them an Email saying that I am within my return policy and would like to see if they would Price Match the coupon. I linked the coupon and the a image of the scanned receipt. We shall see.
Just took the coupon up to Best Buy to see if they'd price match a refund since I bought mine on Friday, and they did. I walked out with $49 cash in my pocket. Thanks OP!

Yep. It's in their best interest to do so, otherwise I'd return it and then buy another for the matched price. They don't want to end up with an extra used device that can't be sold new.

Got mine from BB last week and used a GC for part of the purchase, called them up and they said they do not price match post sale.
But are you saying if they did give a refund from a price match after sale....and you used a gift card for part or all of the purchase.....you only get $10 back?
I also thought the salesman at BB told me when I was completing the sale, said "You can not return for refund, you can only return for exchange."
Of course it sort of went in one ear and out the other as I thought to myself....why would I think of returning for a full refund.

Yes, I had a $50 GC so it knocked it down from ~$300 to like $247.

So. . . . . Groupon screwed me over. . . .

I just saw a thread title about how Groupon sent someone 2 tablets. I guess it all evened out, because I got screwed.
I ordered a white 16GB during the deal, it got shipped out, was out for delivery, and then nothing. No updates, no tablet.
Finally it got updated 2 days later saying it was "undeliverable" (I don't know why; I get dozens of things shipped to that address) and got sent back to the shipper. I got a nice email today saying that since the deal is over, they can't re-ship it to me and are issuing me a refund.
Stupid Groupon. Seriously? You can't ship me out the exact same physical tablet that just got returned to you?
Screw you, Groupon. Screw you.
That blows man

I don't think it went to the other person; it just got returned to sender yesterday.
Yep, it's a bummer. Oh well. I am glad that it got credited back to my card and not Groupon bucks. I would have been MAJORLY pissed then.

Just in case you're still looking to get one, I just ordered one from Groupon on Friday. As of right now, they're still running the deal I got. $395 for a 16gb, $425 for a 32gb.
That sucks dude... Shame you're not from the UK as i'm selling my 10.1 2014 for a really good price. Upgrading to the 12.2.
That is pretty lame... How much was it? I paid 430.00 on amazon for a white 32GB. Was under used section but was never actually used. It said in the description the only thing wrong was the actual box it comes in may be damaged. Got it Friday and the damage was a sticker being opened lol

Try Walmart for Refurb
I just got one from Walmart.com for $430. It is the 32GB version, available in both colors. It shipped out from NJ, so I am thinking they have refurbs from the same place the Groupon ones came from. You do have to pay tax at Walmart.com. but still a good deal in my opinion.

I agree. And did the same.
$299 is better than $349. For some reason my shipping, even one day shipping chosen, is on Monday September 20 instead of friday the 17th through amazon as well. But for $50 I can wait a weekend. Add in the Samsung $200 promotion on my Note 2 and you get the phone for $99.00. You can't beat that.

17th, 18th, 21st, honestly those few more hours or days are meaningless. If it is worth $50 to some to get it on the 17th for sure, god bless them. I am fine either way, even though I plucked down the extra $3.99 for one day shipping. I may change even that. To each their own though. I bought the Note 4 for a myriad of reasons, but the main one that I am looking forward to is the VR headset by Oculus/Samsung which uses the Note 4 as its brains and screen. THAT is the real game changer among the new cell phones this year. There is not nearly enough attention to how big that will be. And that doesn't come out until November sometime. So I am fine with my Note 2 a few extra days.
My Note II + $398 = Note 4 + Samsung Gear VR.
Slap me and call me Mary, that is sweet.

I pre-ordered thru best buy. They are going to give me $200 for my Nexus S 4G!!! (It normally only would get $14.00 trade in) I also signed up last year for a $50 discount on my next phone at best buy. So if the honor amazon at $299, after $200 trade in and my additional $50 discount. I'll be paying $49.99 total with contract which I already paid into a gift card to pre-order it.

Ok... Pre-ordered. BB will give me the $200 for my ancient LG Optimus (heh heh). Here's my gripe... I was told I would have to pay the tax on the full price... $799 =$80... Arrgh. Total out of pocket = $164.

Lost my Note 2 back in August and have been waiting... using my Epic4G since and its killing me,lol.. And no one wants a trade in for the Epic.. :crying: Guess I'm shelling out the 299 if I want to play, unless I can wait for a few more weeks and see if I catch a deal on Amazon AFTER release.

I hope that's the case. Maybe the SR was wrong. Doesn't even seem legal.
I'm really surprised if BB matches Amazon on cell phones, since on their price match page it states:
Our Low Price Guarantee does not cover:
The online prices of retailers not listed
Contract mobile phones sold by any online retailer
put 50 down for two lines on my account, wife wanted white while i picked black. Luckily bestbuy agreed to take 2 ZTE avids i had bought off ebay for 10 bucks each for the $200 trade in .
While this wasn't my first (or even second) choice of device this year, but it seems it will be the best one available and will be my first 'Note' device. Will be fun to see if there is anything new dev wise.
I'm stuck, do I do the best buy deal and get phone for 99 bucks BUT have to pay for their geek squad protection plan 11 bucks a month for 24 months (+$244) or do I wait and hope Costco gets it, pay 299 for it but only have to pay 99 bucks for protection plan that has no deductible so $400 up front? It really depends on the state / tax jurisdiction you live in. California, for example, requires retailers to charge the sales tax on the full retail price prior to discounts / subsidies. Other states may only require tax on the final amount paid to the customer.

Just a bump here. It is listed at the normal amazon page (as of this post) for $199 and the promo code works. Just got it for $179. Thanks to above posts. YMMV not sure how long these last.

Promo code only works with non-lightning deals? That's my guess only since this is a now a lightning deal. I feel terrible for ordering this at like 11:30 PM last night only for it to drop to $199 today. Did not find out about this until just now when I came back from work. Trying to see if Amazon will honor a credit for the difference now.
Edit: Eh. No joy. They won't honor it even though it's being fulfilled by Amazon. Oh well, I'm missed $25. Not the worst missed deal I've had. I just don't want to wait another few days to get the phone. Should get it tomorrow (when I'm off). Then I'll see how well it fits my usage. If everything goes well, I'll probably sell my Nexus 6 32 GB Cloud White and stick with this baby.
Could someone please upload a screenshot of something on amazon showing the $199 price? I paid $250 for mine back in may and would like to submit to chase for price protection. I'd be very appreciative.
*nevermind* I was finally able to get it to show $199.

Odd. I called last night and the rep told me they could not offer me price protection since it comes from a third-party seller. I kept trying to explain that it was a Amazon fulfilled order. She tried contacting their "cell phone department", but I was told they closed at 7 PM (no clue which timezone). Her suggestion was that I refuse my package and try and order again. I didn't want to wait until next week for my phone considering I might even be home and it could get delayed further because no one is around to receive it.

You might just try calling back and talking to a different rep. On a bright note many credit cards have price protection now and the chase freedom one has been painless so far..I started my claim over the phone..they are emailing me the paperwork to which I have to add printouts of the sale price and my original receipt...since it's an identical item from the same store purchased should be pretty straightforward. I'm not sure I'll get the $20 off promo code but the drop from $250 to $199 would be nice.

The price was also available directly from amazon yesterday and this morning.
If you buy something in May I don't see how price protection works two months later. It is usually within a week.

Typical price protection with credit cards is a minimum of 60 days and usually 90 days. I submitted the claim for the $50 difference and didn't include the $20 off promo code so I could have purchased the phone for $179.99 but trying to explain that when the sale price showed $199 on the amazon page would greatly increase the risk of the whole claim being denied so I'll take my $50 and be happy.
Citi Price Rewind : 60 days and they check the price FOR you at most major places when you submit a "price rewind". I've gotten money back from laptop chargers to laptops...and now hopefully a smartphone.
Discover has price protection for 90 days.
Chase Freedom: 90 days.
I bought my Idol 3 on Discover card, can I file a claim?

Check your PM's.
Got my $179 idol 3 this past morning. So far pleasantly surprised. Screen is insanely bright and speakers are very good. So far liking it more than my g3 or M8 (particularly the camera on this one vs the idol)
