[Q] Anyway to get Ubuntu on Hd2 along with NAND - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Yes i have seen the several threads on the matter however i have not been able to post a question on them for i am a new member. My question is how to get ubuntu running on an HD2 that currently runs magldr and a nandroid rom. i have tried using the ubuntu.sh however it never establishes a handshake because the connection is refused. Help?

same situation but i haven't tried ubuntu.sh because it's size...

Unrevoked doesn't see aria - Ubuntu 10.04

Hi there,
It's probably something simple, but most things are easy when you know how!
Unrevoked does not see my Aria.
Running Unrevoked 3.32 under Ubuntu 10.04.
The USB debugging is ON in the phone.
I have tried to run reflash from the terminal using 'sudo reflash' but it will not run that way, doesn't even start.
Any ideas?
(the last time I was here, I was getting the windows 6 hack for my Audiovox Starcom 6700! I still have it by the way and it still works as a pocket PC just fine.)
Ted
One more thing.
I upgraded the rom to 1.25.502.12 tonight, hope that didn't kill this method.
Oh, it's 32 bit Ubuntu.
First of all, I ran it on the wife's windows (yecch) machine and everything worked great!
Whooo Hoooo!
Second, I kept looking and found this on the unrevoked page:
I'm running Linux and it won't detect my device!
Either run the program with root permissions, or add appropriate udev rules to the file /etc/rules.d/51-android.rules. Instructions are available at the Android Developers website.
So, I probably would have figured it all out anyhow...
Maybe this will help someone else.

[Q] PC does not recognize Android 2.3.4 HD2 via USB

Hi experts,
Thanx to the experts on this forum, I managed to flash HyperDroid 2.3.4 NAND ROM on my HD2. Its working fine.
But, when I connect my HD2 to my Vista laptop via USB, my laptop cannot find the required drivers to connect . I am not interested in syncing ... just able to transfer files between PC and sdcard on HD2.
I tried to search this forum for an answer ... but, could'nt fine one.
Also, any recommendations for a good anti-virus for my HD2 will be appreciated.
Thanx.
cheers,
- manish
Mhh, didnt remember if i required a driver to getbtge mass storage working...
Off topic: vista is after windows me the worst os ever
Google usb drivers are in this package...ignore adb, fastboot.exe..just picked up the package from the clk thread. Im on my way to work, so this was the best solution to help as fast as possible

You have to manually install them over the device manager.
Hope this helps.

Simple answer, Windows 7
Sent from my HTC HD2
how long have you been using android? because the simple answer is in notification area if you already haven't tried, drag notification bar down and turn usb storage on
i might be wrong but i dont think i needed driver update and what not when i flashed HyperDroid. uh.. have you tried all the ports on your laptop? i found that sometimes this seems to fix problems like this. im taking by what you said this is your 1st Android ROM you tried? if not then was it working before and if so then you could always try another ROM as well to see if it would fix the problem.
Thanx j4n87 ... I downloaded the Android USB driver from the HTC developer site, and installed it on my Vista laptop via device manager. It works. I can transfer files between my Android HD2 and Vista laptop.
cheers,

+1 there's no need to drivers for access to usb storage

[Q]Booting Ubuntu with NAND Android

Hello!
I have NAND Android on my HD2 and am very happy with it.
Now, I'd like to run GNU/Linux (not neccesarily Ubuntu, but that's good start) from SD. But, while it boots with MAGLDR, kernel seems incompatible with it, and it's very glitchy. Touchscreen and Wi-Fi don't work, just to begin with, so it's non-functional.
Here are my questions:
1) If anyone has kernel for HD2 that works well with MAGLDR, please tell me! I've heard Ubuntu 0.4 kernel is supposed to support it, but there are problems with usb host. If anyone of you is in possession of that kernel, please tell me! (I don't mind no usb host).
2) Did anyone try booting Ubuntu 0.3 on HD2 using cLK and it's fastboot functionality, like Ubuntu on Desire HD? Does it work?
Here's proper link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045910 (it isn't real dual boot but I don't need it)
Basically I want to have usable GNU/Linux (not android) running off sd card while I have Android on NAND.
fpu
Sorry, pls delete...
I just want to say that I tried 2) - the fastboot solution.
And it DOESN'T work :-( errors and problems the same as on MAGLDR. Touchscreen doesn't work, wifi module doesn't want to load, etc. ...
So there's still no way to have functional Ubuntu on HD2 with Android sitting in NAND.
Looking for (and forward to) kernel with MAGLDR support!
fpu
I used ICS 4.0's zImage to ubuntu0.3 and 0.2,in 0.2,the zImage works good but the WiFi and 3G isn't work~it also works in 0.3,but the touch screen doesn't work right. This zImage will boot 0.2 and 0.3,it won't died after boot~
What I can say is these~Oh my poor English!

[Q] Problems with Ubuntu on G2

I have recently gotten ubuntu working on my G2. I have ran into 3 problems though...
1) after rebooting my phone and going into terminal (to start ubuntu up) i type
"cd /sdcard/ubuntu"
then
"bootubuntu"
Which goes off without a hitch, but when i start up the VNC so i can use the GUI, i get a problem. all the commands go through but it makes a new localhost.. which gives me problems because A) i dont wanna setup a new VNC everytime i wanna use ubuntu and B) When the new localhost:2 or localhost:3 (depending on how many times i run "bootubuntu") i dont know the port its calling for or whatever information its needs for to connect to it with VNC. (to see what i mean by this look at the screenshot i took!
AND SECONDLY...
2) WHEN i can get into ubuntu (the only way ive gotten it to work is when i use it the first time) (ie. whenever i wanna use it i delete the ubuntu SD card contents and recopy them over and re-run "sh install.sh" this doesnt take long to run but it does take long to copy over 2 GB of stuff to the SD card) Which definately isnt the way its supposed to be used everytime i wanna use ubuntu. BUT BUT BUT, when i do this and it works, the keyboard inputs in ubuntu or completely screwed up! Ive yet to find the answer online so if anyone can help me this would be much appreciated, but not useful if i cant fix my first problem...
THIRDLY...
3) When i try to use USB storage after running ubuntu in VNC it simply wont connect, I have tryed and tryed again. The only way to fix this is to reboot my phone, which is when i found my problem with restarting and not being able successfully restart ubuntu without recopying the files over..
ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!!!
This is hardly the place for this post. You would get a much better response if this was in the G2 and Desire Z Android Development Forum.
Either way, I'd say you should try creating a virtual partition on your SD card and see how that works out.
will do, mods, please delete this post!
Posting your thread in General, Q&A AND Dev will not get your results. It will get you banned.
