I currently use an old version of QiK that i was using on my old viewsonic gtablet (R.I.P viewsonic gtablet). however its not really reliable, for starters i can only answer calls in landscape for some odd reason it force closes in portrait mode. i tried the other major vid chatting apps (tango, skype, gvtk) their were all epic fails. is there an app that um not yet aware of that works better ?
Google Talk works flawlessly in portrait and landscape mode. No pixelation and almost no lag: I tried it with a friend in Frankfurt, for a while I held the Thrive in front of a mirror, and my friend noticed almost no lag.
Yeah, Google Talk works the best for me as well. Tango, while it's not perfect, works just fine for me too.
Skype just came out with an update so you can video chat now

I know there have been a few threads on video chat and I apologize for making a new one; however I thought my post may get lost if I tried to post in older threads. Below are the APKs for both yahoo messenger and the video add on. I've tested this on my 101 and it works well. I did find out that if you have not updated to the latest firmware it does not work well. Enjoy!

2.0.71 of course. Driver seemed to suck all CPU power...
Seems to work just fine, but is one heavy app. Between the chat and the plugin it is over 20mbs of space. Not sure how it affects battery life...
You can also download these from the market if you have it installed. I tested this today and it is the best so far. Fring and Tango still have a lot of bugs. The new Skype with Video is going to be Verizon only.. at least for this year. There is one more that just came out that might be better than Yahoo and that is ooVoo. It is in beta, but you can download it now from the market. I haven't tested it yet, but it sounds promising.
So if you have Archos.. best video chat so far I think is Yahoo and ooVoo.

Productivity type apps:
QuickPic - it's really a phone photo viewer but it gives a lot better quality pictures than the built-in app.
CNBC Real Time- wow, this is what a tablet app should be! If you trade stocks or watch financial markets, this is a killer app!
USA Today for Tablet - another excellent tablet news app
Tablet Keyboard - $.99 but if you need arrow keys or want a split-screen keyboard for thumb use, it's great. Missing features like auto-cap or auto-complete, so be aware. I use this primarily with ConnectBot for controlling servers because of the arrow keys.
Thinking Space - works rather well as a mindmapping app
AndChat - IRC client. Works well despite being a phone app
Calibre Library - full disclosure: I wrote this. Optimized for Honeycomb, connect to your Calibre desktop app wirelessly, and if you're a real geek even over the Internet if you know how to set up your desktop app right.
ConnectBot - again a phone app, but works well on the tablet.

I also tried the CNN tablet app, but it constantly crashes and won't play the videos even though it's designed for Honeycomb.
Thanks for the list, theres some gems in there. CNN app works great on my Iconia btw, havent seen a crash and video is perfect.

I still can't get video, it always tells me video is not available offline, despite the fact my wiress is connected and it just downloaded the list of videos...
Let's see.. Those that have CNN working with videos, are you rooted or not? For me when I had my Xoom, it didnt work either (rooted), If not, i have no idea what the deal is.
CNN app works fine for me and I'm not rooted.

As stated my CNN app doesn't work - and yes I'm rooted. I usually run "Airplane" mode with wifi enabled (that whole try to stop sucking battery for 3G that I don't have tip,) but I also tried disabling airplane with wifi enabled to no avail.
I did replace my wpa_supplicant file to enable ad-hoc networks.

i know it seems strange, but make sure you didnt accidently get the CNN App for mobile phones.. just get the CNN app, the one i have that works w/ video and all that on my rooted w/ wpa supplicant swapped is the one with the black background red CNN letters

i use docs to go for me it has worked great on my cell and so far fine on tab.i wish i could find something to print to my brother 440 cn network printer

As far as file commanders go, I prefer Ghost Commander, its a lot like the Norton Commander of old, two columns.

Watch espn is a great tablet app to watch espn as long as you have a certain cable provider watched baseball last night over 4g tether
I'm using Touchdown for Tablets for my work email and calendar, works great, looks great, actually lets me synch my notes and tasks in addition to emails, contacts & appointments.
Love the Kindle app
I haven't used any of the other office apps yet so I can't speak for how they work on Honeycomb

Nope - mine already has that version. Right now, clicking any story that has a video just makes the screen flicker a brief moment and go back to the list of stories. I'll stick with USA Today I guess.
Tried replacing the wpa supplicant file with the original, and it still pulls the offline error. I am rooted and honestly could not give a crap about this app. Just Saying.
Uninstall and disable adblocker reinstall reboot a voila it works. Adblocker is the problem hence the problems exists with rooted users. Again I dont give a crap about this app but hope it helps those who do.
I just got my SGT tab today and sold my Xoom on ebay, some of the apps I used on my Xoom behave strangely, which is odd since i thought the hardware is about the same internally.
Aldiko wont open a book, locks up constantly, worked perfect on Xoom
WatchESPN was fullscreen on Xoom, now it is a small window.
Any ideas?

I have Clash Of Kings epub, worked fine on my xoom, ive imported it twice now and redownloaded, it works fine but when i try to go forward pages it says "loading" and times out and closes. Very frustrating
I just loaded up and tested that exact book and had no problem. Dunno if my epub file is the same as yours, though. In any event, Aldiko definitely working ok on my GT.
I have noticed the same. I just got my SGT 10 yesterday and besides the keyboard lag, which I'm OK with now. Did change browsers and rebooted and seem to go away a bit. Also have the Xoom and apps that worked perfect on Xoom crashing on SGT 10. Its not that bad, but was kind of surprised as well. The Xoom will be gone tomorrow and keeping the SGT 10.

Retracting my earlier statement about Aldiko: I just experienced the same kind of crash. I'd opened and perused 5 or 6 books without problem, but then came across one book that did crash the app just as you described. Clearly its not working 100%.
It sucks, WatchESPN is displaying the screen in a small box whereas my Xoom was FULL SCREEN. I dont know if it is some kind of DeviceID check where the service is detecting the GT as a phone?

It's a Honeycomb issue that was introduced in 3.1. I was watching a video comparing the I/O Tab (3.0) and the retail Tab (3.1), and the I/O Tab played videos in fullscreen while the retail played them in that small box. Hopefully it's fixed in an upgrade.
Try downloading SPARE PARTS from the market, and uncheck COMPATIBILITY MODE then restart the tab.

I am trying out vtok (Google video chat) with my Iconia A500 and the person on the other end always sees me sideways. No matter what orientation I hold my tablet, their side (a PC in Gmail) rotates me so I am 90 degrees off. Is there a setting to fix this that anyone knows about?

I'm running CM7 beta for Atrix. I have the MLB Atbat app. I can't get live streaming working in the app or in a browser.
I've tried the fix listed here:

But live streaming still isn't working. The option is available, it starts to connect, and then video will freeze on the first frame while audio continues fine. Sometimes the video will just freeze on a jumble of colors. It's the same if I try to stream from the website in Browser or Dolphin HD.
What to do?

this happens to me too. the fix linked is only for at-bat that doesn't recognize the device and doesn't give the video option.
i believe it it linked to flash, but i'm not sure. i could never get it working on 2.3.4 (AT&T) properly unless i uninstalled flash, tried a video and it prompted me to DL it from the market. once i used that link, i would pop back into at-bat and it would work. that method worked for a while and then stopped working.
i've tried it on CM7 and nothing. i've tried 5 different versions ranging from 10.2-10.3xx and no dice, first frame freezes. i really don't know what it is.

i never got at bat to work on stock froyo or stock gingerbread.. on the android market doesnt say video can play on atrix
if any one got it to work any advise... so i dont think is your ROM you installed
