Desire Hd or xperia 10 - XPERIA X10 General

Planning to ditch x10 over desire hd.. Any suggestion ..???

Edit : brought inspire 4g ...

Wait 'til the next gen arrives. An upgrade is redundant for now.

Who cares!??

Grow up, this is a serious matter. I have experienced this kind of situation a lot of times and I end up regretting for what I chose.
Especially the X10. Bought it impatiently and the next gen phone came out the next week.
I learned and I told myself not to be impatient. Your kind of posts always made people regret themselves. You are not motivating them, you are leading them to despair(a bit too far eh?).
@OP -- Look, the next quad-core smartphone is expected to be released this month. You should wait and at that time, you can make your decision. Besides, DHD isn't powerful anymore now, SGSII has surpassed all smartphones out there. And Nvidia Kal-El looks promising, just wait for sometime.
But I'm not the one who decides what you should and shouldn't do. It's up to you, and I'm not forcing you but I hope you don't regret for what you choose.

Why only 2 days? And you only have DHD as an option? If that is the case... you might want to go for it.

my bro broke his phone so i m giving x10 to him n buying new ..
S2 is out of my budget ..

Hmm, so you're the one who makes the choice. Check out the phone dealer and look for what they have. Remember to choose wisely, good luck!

Do it.
If i could i would.

Go for the Galaxy S if you're not going for the Galaxy S II... Or wait for the upcoming cheaper version of the Galaxy S II.

I wouldnt have a Dhd over x10 now GB is out
Camera on ALL htc phones suck ass
If you can find a galaxy S then go for it with the superamoled and all but the design isnt too great, the only real advantage over the x10 sgs has is more ram, bootloader and multitouch
I love my x10 and dont care about any other phone at all untill a xperia dual core phone is released
Dhd screen quality isnt good at all and MIUI on it is slow and terrible
But it is a good phone and smooth as butter with the right rom on it
My personal opinion dont flame me guys

Camera is 8 megapixel and has 720p so I have no idea what this guy above means. You have all the latest custom stuff like official support for Miui and cm7. I am able to have 5 roms at once installed without wiping, right now setup is phone rom cm7 slot 1 miui slot 2 sense 3.0. Everything working perfectly. 4.3 inch screen is amazing as well. Everything is fast and smooth with a Linux kernel 3.0 port running and oc'd to 1.5 ghz allowing 50% faster processing speeds. Honestly dev scene here will be dead soon, I've seen rdannar leave j has an arc to play with and trip has a sensation so might as well move on.

why dont u buy sensation or S2 or optimus 2X....
u will regret again on buying DHD.. cause it's older now...
if u have budget limit , then u can buy DHD. my friend has DHD and it's too faster ,stable and better then x10... It has stable custom roms... but S-off and rooting is quite frustrating... it took me 3 hours to do all that in my friend's phone... only drawback is phone speaker and microphone are not good as usual in htc...
LG optimus 2x is more powerful and quite cheap phone , may be almost same as DHD price .. i would rather buy optimus 2x
Even lg optimus 2x is out of ur budget u should buy Samsung Galaxy S[the original one - not Galaxy S-LCD-downgraded model]

Yeah it has the same camera specs but have you heard the video sound quality? Its terrible

I would go for Desire HD. Materials and general quality. (Galaxy is plastics)
But it depends in your needs and likes, and price. Sure other people will write big explanations.
Nice upgrade anyway!

htc desire hd has a flasher bigger memory has 2fps better
but from i can see the galaxy s is porting stuf from htc
but i really wana keep the phone stock but them again i like to play so hmmmmmmmmm
The Galaxy S was the first smartphone I bought and it's a great phone. Swype is one of THE best apps I've ever used and I dearly wish it was available on the Wildfire as typing this reply with a bog-standard keyboard is a major PITA.
I principally bought the Galaxy S because it was the biggest screen on the market at the time and watching videos on a small screen blows. Of course, there are now phones with bigger screens, so I've upgraded to the Nexus S. Another key factor in my upgrade decision was that Samsung took a long time to upgrade the Galaxy S from Eclair to Froyo and I didn't want to wait for them to upgrade it to Gingerbread so I bought the Nexus S. AFAIK, to date Samsung have no plans to upgrade the Galaxy S to Gingerbread.
So I suggest you factor this in to your purchase decision and try and really focus on what you're looking for in a smartphone.
I've also just discovered the world of custom ROMs so now I find I'm going to sell my Galaxy S (and possibly my Nexus S - while the secondhand prices are still high) as I'm enjoying my (small and thin) Wildfire + custom ROMs so much that I hardly ever use the other two phones.
So my advice to you is to seriously think about what it really is you like about the hardware. As the software you can change.

REally?!?! You have Galaxy S, Nexus S, but you prefer Wildfire?? I have too much envy right now!!! But it's a little strange, isn't it? I mean they are fantastic phones and Wildfire is great, but no so powerful!
Yes, it surprises me as well that I find the Wildfire to be more to my liking. I guess I just like its size compared to the others. Each to his own, but it has been an expensive exercise for me to find out what I really like.

Not to worryed about battery as I usally have ne phone either plugged into my pc or on charge whilst im on my motobike so not to fussed about battery life

Hello My Friend!
I was a happy user of an X10 for over 7 months until i got bored of the poor support from Sony... I know J, Z, Wolf etc... are doing a great job by bringin the X10 up to date but my career gave me the chance of swaping my used X10 for a Brand New SGS and i can tell you is the best deal i've ever made...
Pros------
- 5 Points multitouch
- High Quality Sound, both earpice and speaker.
- Good Custom ROM & Kernel's development (OC up to 1.5 GHZ rock stable)
- The colors of the Screen are awesome
- TV OUT
- Samsung Support to bring Major Updates (Currently Stock ROM Released Android 2.3.4 by Samsung and they release updates every 15 days aprox...)
Cons------
- Camera Quality is not as good as in the X10
- GPS Lock is awful, it not always locks good and with accuracy.
- Battery Life depending on what Custom Rom you use, but it's a litle better than the X10
- The plastic build of the back can get scratched easely.
So i will say go for it, it is a good chance for you to try something new and the phone is really good.

On much android forum, I read that the SGS is more pixely on the screen then the x10. Colours are maybe better but x10 is sharper. If you don't want that, don't get the phone and just get some more money for the SGS2 you like.
@andddy - In the states we have the Samsung Infuse which is basically a big Galaxy S. Why get a older galaxy S when you can get the Galaxy S 1.5!? it has a 1.2ghz processor with an 8megapixel camera and 4.5 inch screen.

See if your country has it, it's probably the same price as an older model SGS.

Phone recommendation

I have the chance to sell my x10 and replace it with some other high end phone.I have Samsung galaxy s2,sensation and Xperia play in mind. Can anyone recommend me.
In my opnion S2 or sensation since they are dual core . Play arent much and they are bulky unless u want game that much.
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
PLAY does not worth the money. Go for S2 or Sensation.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Put it in easier terms,
Looks+camera=arc
Pure performance=S2
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I would recommend an arc or sgs2, play is kinda big and costly, at least here(750$)
Sent from my x10a"i"(running 2.3.3 root)
S2 for sure its way faster and smoother as the htc and it is unlocked whitout having to do anything.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
or you could just wait for SE to release a phone with dual core :> xperia duo
sgs2 for sure....
though sensation is pretty damn nice too
sgs2 and sensation are both very good looking and performing phones.
but have you ever tried out a device with htc sense on it? if not, do it, before you grab the sensation!!! i really don't like this sense-thing, because i think it "encomplicates" the whole system...but it's surely a question of taste...
samsung's touchwiz is not that spectacular, so this shouldn't be a problem at all.

Galaxy S2 seems to have the best specifications. It also seems a bit more solid when compared to the sensation.
Why are you considering the play? Do you want to game a lot? I don't know how the games are but you could ask in the play forum.

Don't like the UI and design of SG2.On paper,Xperia Duo looks good. What is the release date.
I'm enjoying my EVO 3D very much.
With that said, I think you should decide what features you require and those you'd like to have. Check out GMS Arena's database of phones to see which phones suit those needs. Then do some searching online for reviews and user commentary of the phones you may be interested in.
I think u should probably go for GS2.Its one of the best smart phone so far.Or,if u can wait for some time,go for next generation devices.

Ice Cream Sandwich: the real posibilities

Well, we know that our X8 is near to end its life cycle. With the new double-cored smartphones (and soon quad core!), X8 won't last much longer, mainly because we do more and more things with our phones as they evolve, like playing heavier games, taking HD videos, Sweep panorama, 3D, music beats technology (for now only with HTC phones but I don't doubt that other brands will also offer it in their phones soon) etc. etc.
Of course we have made our X8 a great phone with custom ROMs, like GingerDX (wich I use and I won't switch for now, I love it); I remember that when Gingerbread was about to be released, they said that it would be only possible to install it on devices that had 512 of RAM or higher... And thanks to the wonderful works of devs and several of you, we can use it in our X8.
So, the first question is: What are the real posibilities of having an Ice Cream Sandwich ROM in the future for our X8?
And second: Will you change your phone just to be updated and get Android 4.0 or will you stick with your X8 no matter if you get ICS or not?
My answers are (even if nobody cares haha): 1. I think devs could achieve to design an ICS ROM for X8, of course with a really hard work and dedication. Nothing is easy, neither impossible.
2. I don't know if I could get Xperia Neo in December. If I don't get it, then I'll wait until the next new SE devices (I'm kinda fan of SE). I'm checking the code named Nozomi and looks marvelous, the only thing I don't like is its big screen... Since I've using X8 Im starting to love small screens!
No i will not switch because i cant afford that, im only 15 ;DD

i hope we will have ics port for x8, there is one port for htc hero already:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1352149
if hero can have ics, we can have it too or ?
and here is video of hero running ics:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3FSomVYrr0
If its possible on hero then its possible on x8.but,we dont have any developer to make it...
i guess ics will be too much for the x8's ram !!
with gingerbread we only had like 20mb of free ram most of the time....

i have 70 mb available every time with Gc8.
I don´t care about the X8 getting ICS or not, as most of the features won´t be available on our low-end device.
ANd I also think if we get it, it will be slow, or at least take ages to be fsmooth like GB (especially GDX) now.
My contract with my provider ends next summer, and then I´ll search for another one with better phones (as the best Android phone my provider offers only has a 800MHz-single-core CPU).
I won´t buy any SE phone, because of the (IMO) ugly UI and the not-updating of older devices (I´ll also flash custom ROMs on my next phone, but developing custom ROMs of new Android versions is, as you all know, easier, if you can use the libs from the stock ROM.
Maybe I´ll buy a HTC because they have good-looking phones with good specs and beautiful HTC Sense.
Yes HTC allday! Im still hoping for HTC salsa 2.3 to get fixed... not too bothered about ics on x8, il probs have a new phone to accommodate that in the near future...but I do recommend to anyone who likes HTC style Rom to try this beast out...

Known bugs - wifi/mobile data, vibrate, 3d, camera. I'm hoping there's a dev out there who can make this work one day

Well, I don't really want ICS on my X8 because it would be laggy and not for everyday use. It would be nice for testing though.
I'm planning to buy an HTC Desire Z, since it's prize has fallen down (250 euros) in my country because I really love Sense and the QWERTY keyboard!
Desire Z sucks, small battery, outdatet, buy samsung galaxy s plus, or samsung nexus s, still pretty good phones with awesome community support, and pretty decent price now. Also liked the sgs2 little cousin with tegra .I quess it was samsung galaxy r?

Thnx for sharing these information.
If some devs contribute we can have ics on x8 and it should work fine if its well built.if hero, who has worse specifications can run it,x8 should run it better.
It isn't really "worse". It has slower CPU but a bit more RAM. With low RAM systems, 32MB is a significant advantage.

This.
And doixanh, GingerDX is just awesome. May you consider something like "IceCreamDX" in the future?

It seems another low-end device LG GT540 to have ICS. Yes, it also has bigger RAM but it would be regrettable if x8 couldnt have it.

Xperia Arc S or HTC Sensation XL ?

Hey guys!
I'm planning to buy a new phone in 2 weeks ..
I'm confused between these two .. Xperia Arc S and Sensation XL ..
Any recommendations or guidance from the users of these phones
What i like about the XL :
Massive 4.7" screen
Easier to touch-type
Beats audio
What i like about the Arc S :
Sharper screen (233 ppi) despite the small size (4.3"), comparing to the XL's 4.7" and (199 ppi)
The cool looks !
The upcoming official ICS will look great on the that phone
Both processors are fast .. 1.4 and 1.5
Taking into account that I lOVE the new ICS look and i'd love to have it on my next phone .. While i can only have it on the Arc S because of CM support .. And i don't know how to get that look on the Sensation XL because of the lack of suport and the too little ROMs availablity
By what you said, get Arc S, or wait a little more for Xperia S. Both will get ICS until june. Arc S is going to get stable CM9 soon, and I'm sure there will be some guys from FreeXperiaTeam (who work with CM in 2011 Xperia devices) working ASAP on Xperia S.

You ask that question in an Xperia Arc forum? Are you dumb or something?
i had just pick up an arc a month ago..i just take it primarily because of it good looks other than that sony promise of official ice cream samndwish and a remote chance that the arc get Playstation store outside of japan..
but i don't see if both arc and sensation gonna be relevent by the 3rq quarters of this year.as i change phone every year, the arc fits the time frame..but if u wanna kept your phone lots longer, get a dual core
I'd say Arc S
Has a micro sd slot which the XL doesn't have.
If the XL had dualcore I'd go with that but it hasn't and 100Mhz are no difference.

+1 to arcS... HTC is too expancive... What are you paying for? Half of inch? Wright question is arcS or Sensation XE... Dual core, great display, Beats Audio... And looks great to. I would prefer SE because I am a BIG fan of it... And you can go to the store, take both of them in yor hands and decide...
Seems like the Arc S is a winner for me. The charisma and charm of this phone is irresistible. However, I'm considering the upcoming Xperia S too .. Just Hoping it won't be too expensive
this HTC comes with a internal 16G memory and 768 MB ram - these are more critical factors for performance. correct me if i am wrong?
Ok, RAM is a big plus.
But for me the 16GB non-expandable memory (?) are too less, so no-go. I have ~23GB on my phone.

Arc S - easy choice for me.. the Sensation XL is a big ugly brick!.. or if you want to wait till end of March - Xperia S - I'd wait!

I read somewhere, and it has been an "aaaaah yeah..." moment for me,
that we shouldn't compare SE phones with Samsung and HTC phones.
They are not at all about the hardware or the Android version.
They fill in the gap between the people who are hardcore users and spec enthusiasts and those who have no idea about smartphones.
They are targetting people who are OK with having a really beautiful phone, advanced camera function and good hardware, not necessarily top-of-the-top.
And even though XDA forums are normally not a place for such people, you can't deny the very existense of such target group.
Seeing it like this, you can understand why they haven't joined the hardware race that Samsung and HTC are running atm.

I'd wait for the new line. but if you're in haste i'd take Arc S or Galaxy Note depending on the price ofcourse.

I was tempted by Note because of it's size and power etc. as I could eventually get one for free,
but this device is NOT impressive.
The screen - again - looks like oversaturated **** and the UI is actually disgusting.
I quit after 5 minutes of playing with it.
BTW the performance when just fiddling with it was actually mediocre.
Xperia S is worth wait, as far I have seen after AOSP Sony has one of the best UI and they aren't in the race for great hardware spec like other which just made Dual core devices without software support for it. Sony waited to release dual core when it's necessary i.e. As far as I know ICS is optimized for Dual core. So when they started rolling out ICS update they started to make dual core devices. But if you looking to brag about the spec then sure go for SGS 3 that might out
My 2 cents
