Problems with the screen - Galaxy S II General

I have bought a SGS II and I like it a lot but I have some screen problems (and it is not related to the yellow/blue tint on the left side). My problem is that compared to the screen of SGS I, my screen is much worse, because there is a kind of "layer" (only noticeable with low bright and you have to pay a bit of attention)like this:

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
that makes that when the brightness is low (on the device) the screen should be like this:
but instead of that I see something like this:
. It's a kind of layer that is showed every time, so I see that noise and I think that something is wrong with my device, or do you have this problem too?
Sorry, but I can't post URLs, so open them.

Like some sort of static image noise or dithering is going on, thats absolutely not normal.. What you can do is maybe go back to the store and have it check/compared with another unit.

Defective screen? Take back to shop!

looks like a (bad) screen protector foil is applied. if that's how your screen looks like without anything applied to it, return the device to the shop...

That's what I will do, I hope my next SGS II doesn't have this problem, anyway, I have to wait at least one month to receive a new one .

Bottom of Screen Does Not Calibrate

I recently purchased an MDA off ebay from another member on this site. They claimed everything on it was fine, but upon receiving it I found that the bottom of the screen didn't respond. After playing with the calibration I found that the bottom of the screen wasn't completely "dead" it just thinks its being tapped on a different spot of the screen. The seller claims this is a software issue, but after several flashes from different roms the problem still persists. Has anyone else seen this happen? And does this sound like a hardware issue?
I opened notes and took a picture of what happens when trying to use the scrollbar in landscape mode to show how off the calibration is at the bottom. Thanks in advance for any help I can get on this.

I had this EXACT same problem. I had the mistake of pushing down too hard while applying a screen protector and it pushed in the screen on the bottom. From that point, I could never calibrate the bottom of the screen. I was able to get a replacement, because I told Cingular that it was broken and it was only a month into my contract.
So, I think the guy probably messed up applying a screen protector or accidently somehow pushed in the bottom of the screen. This is in no way a software problem....deff hardware issue.
Thanks for the response. I filed a claim with paypal for a refund. With the way that it was packed I'm amazed the phone works at all!
Im sorry to hear someone trying to get over on you. Hope everything works out.

"Streaky" colors on my MDA

My MDA screen got totally smashed, so I bought a new one and installed it.
While the touchscreen capability is functioning fine, the LCD itself seems to be having issues. I can't tell whether it's a hardware or software problem, but I'm hoping it's a software thing. When I start up the phone (where I see the IPL/SPL screen), the colors are normal. But after that first splash, the phone colors are sort of streaky. Can anybody help?
Normal startup screen (mostly white, but no streaks evident in the grey boxes as far as I can see).

This streaky junk:
Anybody???
A Question!
Looks it like a Shadow?
If you have a Black Screen ... you see a light Grey area? Or Colors like Red or other are on this Point not realy Red?
TFTs have a big problem. If some item press on the TFT. It becomes Shadows. This is possible by damage the Spacer in the TFT Screen ... this are little balls!
Dont put Keys in the same Pocket like your Smartphone :->
Damage like this are imposible to Repair without Display Exchange!
It sounds pretty much like you described, except there's no pressure--it looks like this all of the time.
And this WAS a replacement screen, ugh.
Not to mention, any slight pressure, say TOUCHING THE SCREEN IN ANY WAY BUT THE LIGHTEST, creates a different problem(screen fading to white).
Thanks.
I am having the same problem due to my phone getting a little humid, any idea if there is anything I can do to reverse the damage?

Japanese Privacy Screen Protector

Has anybody used these with a pressure sensitive touch screen device and the Touch Pro in particular?
I've never seen one in the US but they're all over the place in Japan. It like a screen protector but when viewed at an angle over ~30degrees from perpendicular the screen is unreadable or black, sometimes with a image on it.
This page shows how it works, the page is Japanese but there's pictures.

The difference is they're stiffer and thicker than the usual screen protector so I wonder how well the pressure sensitive screens like the Touch Pro work. Since the pressure sensitivity is adjustable they might still work good anyway.
There's a Touch Pro specific one for sale here for $8 so I'd think that means it works decently.

And the next question is can anybody in Japan order these up for us? Maybe expansys can buy them in bulk and resell them to us?
I am sure this is nice especially in Japan where it would be annoying to have someone constantly trying to look at your screen so they could watch you weird cartoon pr0n.
Nice find... very nice. I'll try to get a few. You can as well go request this in Dealextreme... if the demand is high, they will consider of getting it listed.
Nice one, I will have a look at the shop on the way home tonight and see how they perform.
Pocketsolutions has them, just not for the fuze yet.

[Q] Tab with Yellow patches - has it succumb to the white iPhone issue?

The Tab is the first gadget I have meticulously looked after buying it a screen protector, leather case etc. What a surprise it was when I took it the case and found some minor yellow faint marks... Ignoring them thinking it was the light I put it back in the case...
Fast Forward 1 month
The yellow patches have increased and are now an unsightly brown!!
It really does look like Samsung have been hit by the same issue the original white iPhone did.
The below picture has had the main marks highlighted in red circles. The other marks are the poor quality camera of the *ahem* white iPhone I own...

What do others think? I have tried using my glasses cloth and cannot remove any marks. It's not got wet and it certainly hasn't been overcharged...
Maybe contact Samsung for a warranty replacement? I'd be miffed if my device turned brown over time.
Just off phone with them. EXTREMELY quick to say it is nothing to worry about but their technicians would like the device back for repair as soon as possible.
Was a weird call actually, normally you just get the whole 'please send your device to here and we'll fix it if needs be'. This time I got:
'Mr James, I need to call you back after I have checked something..'
Then on the call back
'it is nothing to worry about, your handset will be absolutely fine but we would like it back as soon as possible for repair. Again it is nothing to be concerned about.'
Sounds rather suspect to me.
Lol, sounds like they think it's going to burst into flames and cause bodily harm resulting in very expensive litgation. Enjoy your new tab when you get it

Image Retention on new S5?

Just picked up a new white S5 on Friday. Few days later, I am noticing a burned in bar on the lower half of the screen. I am not sure what to make of this? Could this just be an issue with AMOLED panels? It's not very noticeable unless you look for it, but it is definitely there. Would love some opinions on this.

Burn-in (uneven wear to be more accurate) will still happen in any AMOLED device. the technology has improved so it should not appear until quite some time down the road, at least it's supposed to have improved.
Any app that might have kept an static image for a long time there?

Well before venturing ideas, I'd like to get a good idea of what you are seeing. I'm sure that it is glaringly obvious to you since you know it's there now.. but your photos are not close ups or high res.. and you didn't circle the area or describe it in detail. Can you point it out or describe it better?
It might be exactly as the poster above suggests or I can think of three or four other possible causes depending on what the artifact looks like.
