Can't flash radio - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Hello, I have a 32A with 1.76.2007 SPL, and 6.35.08.29 Radio, and I simply can't flash the radio. I can flash the SPL just fine, I've flashed it to 1.33.2010 and then to 1.76.2007 with no problems, however, when I try to flash the radio it just keeps saying in the command line "Writing". I've followed this tutorial to the letter: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=605239
By the way I tried to flash it to two different radios now, an old 3.22, and the newest 6.35
Thanks in advance, and I hope I'm not making a stupid mistake, since I'm new at this.

Still got the problem?
Can you provide more info or why you are trying to flash a diff radio...
Also, download my fastboot commander from my signature and copy-paste all the device info.

Thanks for answering, and I'm sorry I didn't post why I'm trying to flash a different radio. The thing is most ROMs out there are 3.22 and so I can't install them unless I do that. I used your program and here is what it said:
SPL/hboot version: 1.76.2007.
Radio version: 6.35.08.29.
Main software version: 3.05.401.3.
cid: htc__506.
cpld: 12.
product: sapphire.
mid: sapp10000.
security: off.
build-mode: eng.

If you download the magic 32A version, you will get a special tab.
I will flash a compatible set of spl, radio and recovery.
Try it out and if you get an error, post here what you see in the "actual output".

Thanks a lot! It finally worked! But I still don't understand why it didn't work the other way around. I noticed that when I tried to flash it in the command line, as soon as it said it was "Writing" my phone's screen would turn black, and it didn't when I used your awesome program.
Anyways I highly recommend this program to anyone who wants to flash SPL/Radio.
By the way could you check my other thread? It's also about a problem that's been annoying me very much.

I'm glad it worked out for you :0)
About the other problem, i have no idea :0)

Oh, ok, well thanks a lot anyway

[Q] I think I screwed up mytouch fender w/ 6.35 radio

I am having a problem with my mytouch fender.
I tried to flash to radio 6.35.16.19 to run the newer roms, really wanted to try smoki's rom and rc magic's v2 and now i'm stuck.
I can fastboot, flash hboot and recoveries but when I tried to flash a different radio it hangs at 95%, doesn't matter if i'm flashing radio through fastboot, trying to get back to stock with sappimg.zip it always hangs at 95% on step 5 radio v2. I also can not boot into recovery no which recovery I try - amon ra's or clock work.
I have search all over and can't find any help. I think I have the same problem as the person from this thread
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=712934&page=5
I hope I didn't brick it.
Was wondering if the fix from this thread would work for me

The link to fix is no longer there however for me to try.

Sorry for deleting the fix... did not think anybody is gona need that... it was made spcially for the guy in the thread.
Let's see if we can fix your device.
Since you connot flash radio... then try to flash spl...
The problem is you have the wrong spl/radio combo...
You need the 1.76.2007 spl with that radio..
I dont know if this is going to work or not.. But if it was my device, then i will try it :0)
Download the tool i made for eyegor from my signature (radioswither).
Put phone into fastboot.
Check connection.
If you see the the device nr you are good to go.
Now flash the 1.76.2007 spl. Only the spl. Find it under the imgfiles folder.
Then reboot using the tool into fastboot again.
You device should have a diff spl. the 1.76 spl.
Now push "flash old".
This should set you back to 32A mode.
Flash any 32A/3.22 radio rom you like...
Like this one:

Finally flash stock fender spl or your device is working with half the ram!
There are more info in the thread you referred to... read it all... It's important you understand the device you have!

Thanks so much. I did what you said and flashed 1.76.2007 spl and was able to flash old and get rid of the evil 6.35 radio. I can now use my goldcard and get things back to normal. Thanks so much. I was already searching ebay for a new phone. Thanks again.

HTC Magic 32b 3.22 radio ROM problem

Hi,
I have HTC Magic Vodafone UK version (32b) . A month ago I wanted to install a ROM which required a higher version of radio, and I bricked it
I had it repaired in a shop, but it seems that the guys put the wrong radio. This is what I get in fastboot:
Now I have 3.22 radio (which is only for Magic 32a). The problem now is that I cannot install 32b ROMs because of the radio, and 32a ROMs are also not working (or maybe I am doing sth wrong). The only ROM which is working currently for me is VOdafone 2.2.1 32a.
So, my question is: which ROMs should I be installing now - 32a or 32b?? Should I maybe go again with radio change, and go back to the old one (which is a risky process)
Thanks!
Thread moved to General.
Please pay attention where you post your threads next time.
Sorry, will pay attention in the future
The good thing is, that you have eng spl..
So you have total control over the device,,,
You can flash anything you want..
Just flash a different radio and you should be set :0)
Hey mumilover,
Thanks for the reply.
The thing is that I've already bricked it once when tried to change the radio, so now I'm afraid to do it again and thus trying to find some alternative
Download my fastboot commander from my signature.
Download this radio: https://rapidshare.com/files/455782324/2.22.19.26I.img
Flash it.
Download this recovery: http://rapidshare.com/files/387932919/recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0G.img
Flash it.
Reboot into recovery and flash whatever rom you like :0)
Good luck.
When I was reading about flashing radios, I remembered pretty long and complicated procedure (downgrade android, wipe, etc.) Is it with your fastboot commander that easy???

OK, I'll give it a try...
Hey, I have just given it a try, but it won't flash the radio. I get the Fastboot connection (it says "Fastboot USB" on the phone screen), but in your app it says that "PRINT OF DEVICE INFO FAILURE - PLEASE CHECK YOUR CONNECTION.
No fastboot device connected."
Any idea what the problem might be?
By the way, I have been using regular fastboot for quite some time, and it was always working flawlessly with my phone.
Seems like its the connection to me, even with s-on on my phone it I still get the device info print off
Which OS do you use?
If normal fastboot commands works, then this tool SHOULD work :0)

I adviced owner to flash 2708 radio and SPL 1.33.0013d from recovery.
After flashing of radio phone became a brick...
Hope guy will manage to unbrick it, but the question is what to do further.
Is it safety to flash radio/spl using your soft of it would be better to use fastboot method described here (I mean Revert to 32B Radio)?
And is radio 2.22.19.26I what we really need?
Which SPL should be flashed after to escape bricking?
Keep the spl...
flash the 2.22.19.26I radio and G recovery from my tool or fastboot.
Then you should be all ok...

Ok, I see. Do you think engineering 1.33.0010 should remain untouched?
But how to flash new 1.33.0013d which is required for many roms with appropriate kernels?
P. S. I've tried your tool on another computer, and still can't get a connection to my HTC Magic ((
It finally worked!!!
Well, nobody told me that I needed to install this HTC Sync software...
OK, so I finally installed 2.22.19 radio, but for this ROM I need 2.22.23 and Death SPL. Is it safe to install those using your tool???
Again, thanks for your time!

Hi all,
I accidentally flash a orange-...nbh for G1 to restore a MT3G t-mobile 32B. (BAD BAD ACCIDENT!!!)
Now I get stuck with fastboot (S-ON), no recovery and when flashing the correct nbh freezes on radio update.
The radio version is the only thing that seems odd to my but it is just my thoughts... I'm a newbie on Android modding.
mumilover do you believe your approach can help on my case...

You need a matching spl/radio before you can flash anything new...
Could you explain to me how can I match the SPL/Radio. Probably with a special nbh file?
When I try to flash sappimg.nbh it freezes on radio update.
Thanks again for your help

There is no reason I know of why the radio won't flash that isn't due to something more serious.. To the best of my knowledge the few other people that flashed the Orange Dream NBH on a sapphire where able to get into the 1.42.2000 S=OFF SPL and use fastboot flash radio to return to 2708+ radios..
Of course since now you have 1.33.0006 I'm not sure the best way to proceed. (particularly since I don't own the device, and it may be confused with the radio version)
If you can't boot the device and all you have is a S=ON SPL (other than 1.33.0013d) all you can do is flash SAPPIMG.nbh and SAPPIMG.zip files.. preferably find one with an S=OFF SPL or that makes the system boot.. A goldcard will help if the image is from another region (ie not T-Mobile US)
The problem is the mismatching between the radio and spl.
If the offsets are not correct, every radio flash will fail due boundary error.
This problem has been seen on many magic devices with old spl together with new radio and the opposite. I always recommend to fix it by flash the matching spl and then change the entire layout. That approach has been successful every time.
So, to start with the radio - it's for the dream device. According to your thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831139 the version nr which the OP has posted should have given him an eng spl, namely the 1.42.2000.
My suggestion would be to reflash the nbh image from the link(orange-1.58.73.2.nbh ) and hope for it to flash spl first. Spl typically have the same size so the offsets will be the same allowing it to complete.
Once he has eng spl, he could flash the right spl/radio/recovery combo and should be good to go.
I try to flash the orange-1.58.73.2.nbh and I got a "Model ID Incorrect" error on verifying signature. I guess my way out is using a goldcard but my phone is useless right now. I looking toward to create one using my PC or a friend's phone.
Any suggestions? Thank you so much guys to help me bring back my phone from the graveyard...
Well... the goldcard is a MUST have. Without it you cannot flash the nbh image.
I'm trying to research how to create a goldcard without the phone but I did not get a procedure to do it... Do you know if I can use any other Android phone regardless the model and the carrier? some said CID numbers relies only on the SDcard you are using and the phone and carrier did no matter at all, but if that is true, why you can't use a program to get it from your sdcard reader? it seems like the only medium to get the number is through an Android phone...
Either way I will try using other android phone from a different carrier... for now is the only choice I got... I will keep you posted with my results...

You can .. if your computers sdcard reader exposes the CID to software.
Unfortunately most USB readers do not expose this value. (some older non USB versions have been known to)
Most HTC phones (and other embedded devices) on the other hand use a more direct interface to the sdcard and can get the value on both android and HTC.
FYI: even with the SDCard I think you will get that error on the oragne NBH.. (I don't think we can get around that one on a s=on SPL) it says that the rom is not for the sapphire.. if it works it is your best bet but I don't think it will.
It's kinda must... referring to how did it happen in the first place!
Hi all,
I created 2 goldcards (after the process I could copy the SAPPIMG.nbh to the SDCard from my PC without any problem), but still I get the Model ID Incorrect when I tried to flash it.
My question will be if you believe there is a problem with the goldcards or definitely as ezterry suggest is a problem beyond the goldcard issue...
Thanks again for all your help...
Goldcard issue :0)
Tomorrow I will buy a new microsd... Kingstone 2GB is what everyone recommends for the job... I will keep you posted with the results...
Hi all, sorry for the delay on the response but I have to order my memory online because I was tired to search it on local store without any luck.
Yesterday I got my new Kingston 2GB memory card, I made it a gold card, put the orange-1.58.7.nbh file on it, rename it to SAPPIMG.nbh and when trying to flash it, it said loading with multiple lines as always does but it did not start with the verification of the image but it just shows me the hboot option again, as it was restarting itself.
Any idea?

[Q] Help with 2708+ enabled kernel

I'm trying to follow this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831139) to get the new radio and spl. I don't think I can use the fastboot method cause my current spl is 1.33.0013. I have a T-Mobile MT3G (Sapphire PVT 32B) with S-on. Any advice on this? and is the 1.33.0013d spl recommended for this phone?
I'm doing this in hopes i'll get better performance with EzGingerbread by ezterry. If possible, I'd really appreciate a straight forward answer with instructions if you will. Thanks in advance for the help guys. You all are great.
EDIT: Solved!
I solved this a little while back, figured I'd post incase someone else happens to need this.
Since I had S-ON, I couldn't update the radio, so I installed https://rs602tl.rapidshare.com/#!do...ip|189|R~3B569328192835CD8749F219CB7FDFED|0|0 via recovery which of course is an ENG spl allowing fastboot, then flashed radio, then .0013d.

You might be able to just flash the above two files. But don't take my word for it. Its a quick copy-paste on my phone and I could have easily copied the wrong thing. So read everything first!

[Q] Kingston 4gb sdhc goldcard not working, main version is older

iam getting main version is older when using the itasalat rom. why am i getting that?
do goldcards only update to newer versions of rom?

when trying the different goldcard which probable didnt work, for some reason the radio was not installing when i tried to sappimage the rom file, so the new radio and hboot isnt installed. the sappimage did start the update but the screen had started changing colours and then it went to grey for 30 minutes. in other words its not completely installed. specially the radio update just gets stuck (why?)
although my phone hast the system, userdata etc (files of the first rom (in 3.05 ruu there are 2 roms, rom and rom1)) but the phone has the radio and spl of a different rom.
since i have a 3.22 radio, i was trying the etisalat rom but when i used it in this new goldcard, it gave the reply ''main version is older"
What should i do now?
when is someone going to reply!!?

okay!
heres the problem.
u see in htc europe rom, there are 2 rom files, labelled as rom and rom1. rom has the hboot and radio while rom1 has recovery, system, userdata, boot and splash.
i flashed the rom1 first through hboot because cwrecovery was giving some kind of error. the rom1 got flashed because i had eingineering spl.
i then went to flash the rom file by hboot(the file containing radio 6.35 and hboot). the file got detected and gave the update option.
however at the radio update the screen starts changing the colour, and very slowly reaches grey after, like 5 minutes and stays on gery for 20 minutes! then it goes black for like 20 minutes! not sure what happenes after that because i usually take out the battery!
also since i flashed the rom1 file, i have a different recovery, which does not open and also the phone is stuck in boot-loop.
what can i do?
the phones info is in the above post through!
thanx!
It stucks because you have Spl/radio mismatch!Im not sure but i think this is your problem! And you have security on...Try flashing a RUU higher than your main version with 3.22 radio! It will stuck again at radio update but after restart you will have a good combination and then flash the original RUU.

Man, go to repair-shop and ask master for JTAG. Told him that he need restore 1.33.2010 hboot cause your radio is 3.22.20.17
p.s. I don't think that ROM with this anomalous combo hboot/radio exists in the wild life... Even if someone will modify it comply with requirements, he may ask > 50$ cause it is truly black magic))
You still got problems?
