Didn't look like it to me... they talked about it only being a few mm bigger in places without a mention of the keyboard. Huge fail... Sprint has enough devices without keyboards to satisfy the people who like tapping away on glass.

Evo 3D was exactly 3 weeks after FCC, but the WiThin hasn't even been announced yet, so you never know.

Why ruin one of the thinnest phones with extra unnecessary thickness? I thought I'd use the Epic keyboard, but I use Swype. Swype is faster for me. If the Nexus was out when I got my Epic, I'd have gotten that.

Well, can't say for sure, but if the current Galaxy S2 sold outside the US is any indication, this is what it should have...

Agree. One of the reasons I went with the Epic was because of the keyboard (coming from TP2), but once I started using Swype I have never gone back to the keyboard. I occasionally slide it open to clean out the pocket lint, but thats about it.

thunderbolt...

I tried the Thunderbolt for 2 weeks and returned it and this is why... its about twice as thick and ALOT heavier than the fascinate. Battery wouldn't last all day when I barely used it while my fascinate would easily last 2 days with little use or a full day of heavy use. The screen on the fascinate looks a lot better than the thunderbolt. Another thing I noticed was that the thunderbolt was always a lot hotter then my fascinate even when it was at its regular clock speed and was regularly at 110 degrees Fahrenheit or higher. So if anybody is thinking about getting the thunderbolt I hope I saved you the $35 restocking fee.
Nice to hear that the grass isn't always greener!

Kernels will help with the battery life, and I've used it and I don't mind the heaviness at all. The main reasons why I'm not bothering to upgrade to it is because the screen isn't as nice, and the GPU doesn't seem as good as the Fascinate's. To expand on that GPU point, I used Neocore on my sister's Thunderbolt and my Fascinate at the same time, and my Fascinate performed smoother and quicker, however the final FPS score was apparently better on the Thunderbolt's, which I found strange. However visuals don't lie, while benchmarks sometimes do (especially quadrants).
Overall, I'd just wait for a decent dual-core phone on Verizon, rather than upgrading to the Thunderbolt. Galaxy S II anyone?

Hopefully they will update the Galaxy S II a little more often then they have been doing with the fascinate but I think Samsung's hardware makes up for everything

I havent had 2 weeks worth of trial with it, but my Daughter just got one. As with every phone, it has it's ups and downs. I agree with most of the OP, but it has some positives. The front camera for one, the 4G for another.
It is like heaving around a brick though in size and weight compared to the Fascinate.
I am not switching to anything anytime soon, but I would still wait awhile to see what the community does with the customizations before i would choose anything...
ha I don't care even if Galaxy 2 has 2ghz triple core, I wouldn't buy Samsung phone again. I'd rather have faster update than better hardware.

That might be because the fascinate is framerate limited to ~60 fps, it won't go above 60, even if the GPU could run it faster
Battery life for me has been similar to my fascinate and it was worth switching just to be able to use data while I'm using the phone. My area won't have LTE for another year but I use a lot of data and getting an unlimited plan while verizon still offers them seemed prudent.

Call Sprint and get your upgrade qualification early (the 1 year upgrade eligibilty). Sell Epic, get a couple of hundred bucks from someone who doesn't want to be on a new contract. Use money from sale and upgrade eligibilty to get a Nexus S 4G. for free or almost free.

notice how no one has replied yet?
I have a Nexus and I'm here. As a NExus owner I can say that it's not all it's cracked up to be. There are some pretty big downsides to the Nexus, especially coming from the Epic. They are as follows:
1) NO CODEC SUPPORT. This is a very big one. It won't even play .wma
2) No zoom or widescreen mode on the camera.
3) NO HD VIDEO RECORDING. This may NEVER get fixed as it's rumored to be hardware limitations.
4) Things like not being able to access notifications while the dialer is open are annoying.
Now the positives:
1) It's AWESOME.
2) There is a good chance most of the downsides will be fixed.
3) The curved screen is really nice
4) the build quality, I feel is better then the Epic.
5) Everything just works
Before you make the switch just make sure you know what you are getting into and be willing to wait for things to get addressed. Dreams has been VERY busy porting the crap out of stuff like the toggles in the notification menu. Follow his progress he's doing awesome stuff.

I don't mind either layout.
But I am extremely annoyed that there is more than one layouts. Google should force the manufacturers to standardize it so its the same on all android devices. I switch between 3 android devices frequently and its annoying as hell.
One of my devices is a dell streak, which doesn't even use the right amount of buttons, the right icons, or the correct placement of any of the buttons. Going from a HTC phone to a Moto Phone to a Dell Steak makes me press the wrong buttons quite a bit.
I've been waiting for this thing for a long time. it looks so sexy.

I personally wouldn't like it if all the phones had the same layout, it gives each manufacturer their own. While I totally agree it would be annoying with three of the devices, I don't think majority of us have that issue persay.

I agree about the concern regarding the lack of developer support. We know the tremendous level of support the Evo 3d is receiving. Based on track record, the 3d will be running 25 different versions of custom Roms based off Ice Cream Sandwich before the Epic Touch gets it's first.

I'm sure some manufacturer will make another keyboard phone. That's the beauty of Android, you can have different phone choices to satisfy a market niche.
Other than that, there's always Blackberry.

My wife had an upgrade and I didn't so she got it but I have been playing with it a ton. I echo what else has been said. It doesn't have a physical keyboard. The less moving parts the better. The screen is beautiful. It is damn fast. I cant get the SOB to lag. Honestly I thought my Epic was doing really well until it went up against that beast and its 2 gigs of ram. I am still happy with the Epic but do wish and always have that we had the regular Galaxy S. Physical keyboards are just outdated with all the amazing virtual ones in the Play store. The biggest thing thought is its speed.

I hate to be THAT guy, but it doesn't REALLY use the latest ARM architecture; it's qualcomm proprietary, and it's designed to be similar to ARM A15, but not actually based off of it.

That's its best feature. The epic felt rickety in my hand after like the first month. Yuck.
