[Q] G-sensor/accelerometer/auto rotate not working - Blade General

hi,i just bought zte blade, rooted, installed cwm, upgraded to gen 2 using tpt method, and installed CM7, stable 7.0.3, also tried RC1, latest nightly and a few random nighlies
and my problem occurs in all of them.... auto rotate isnt working... IT IS TURNED ON in sttings, tried to turn on of tried to reboot tried to wipe everything tried factory reset nothing helps... and i see im not the first one with this problem but all of the topics started about this issue have 0 replies.. this bug is not stated anywhere in changelogs and in fact it makes CM7 unusable on ZTE Blade.. cause you cant always message and browse and do everything in portrait view... i heard its a kernel issue that every overclock enabled kernel on device upraded from g1 to g2 makes accelerometer or g sensor or w/e you call it stop working.. i really love cm7 and i bought this phone thinking im gonna use it on it and this issue is really frustrating please help someone.. please

Try another ROM like Swedish Spring or Ginger Stir Fry and if it still occurs in those ROM's then it's probably a hardware fault.

same hi
hi there, ive bought my blade 2 days ago, and got the same issue you are talking about, i flashed it to swedish and find out that auto-rotate doesnt work, so ive tried different kernel that should have helped, but istead blade didnt even boot, ive also tried newest CM7 with no luck...kinda desperate and confused that there are just few threads about this and no real solution, thinking of going back to stock froyo, but iam afraid of bricking...if u find any solution write here or on email, ill do the same if i find one, thx

New Blades seem to have different sensor hardware. Try Sensor List from market and compare the results with this screen (from Orange San Francisco bought earlier this year):
db.tt/ms5m4i6
(can't post links)

yes your right, thats the source of the problem, my accelerometer is not the same as yours.. heres the screen tinyurl dot com slash 3tqv26o
now me and other peaople wold like to know if there is a way to modify kernel to work with this hardware... i think cm7 developers should be intersted in resolving this

didnt know that, people posting about this on CM7 forums dont get much attention
if they really manage to get it to work that will be my uber happy day like when i had wildfire stock 2.2 and alpharevx came out

I also have the same problem, will hit modaco forums n check if there`s something on it.

Can we calibrate those sensor?

Now Brian n the rest, there is no work around on it, tried changing different kernels without success, finally flashed cm7 n installed Ginger Stir Fry, its been 3 days n everything is fine, but remember u`ve already upgraded to Gen 2, so no need of Tpt install, just get the Rom, its also very good at preserving power. with problems hit me up on twitter @alexakams

i also use Ginger Stir Fry because AutoRotation dont work with cm7. its a clean and fast rom, but Elitemovil Blade_Rom is also an option.

[Q] Just rooted and which ROM to try?

All,
Finally decided to root yesterday and have been monitoring the ROM's in the development section. I'm torn between the CyanogenMod and Iced Glacier. From what I'm reading the CyanogenMod is still a RC and not official yet and Iced Glacier is still using the sense interface.
I use this phone for work ie Touchdown and need something super stable that won't crash on me every other day. What ROM would you recommend that I try? Some keys for me is stability, dialer is functional(hated the MT4G dialer), contacts, camera and Touchdown definitely will need to work.
Thanks for any info.
I'm using iced and no issues. Everything works. Jus flash gorrillas latest kernel with it. I believe its 1.02? V.5(the one that came with the iced rom) froze on me alot when I oc past 1.4
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
The best answer is to make a nandroid backup, and try all of the roms. They're all pretty damn stable at this point, its just a matter of personal opinion. CM6 is still an RC, but a lot of people, myself included, are using it ads their daily driver with no issues at all.
I have been using the CM RC2 as of now .. i didnt care much for the other ones due to it was exactly like what i had already .. with the apps removed and so fourth .. seemed like a lot of setup for nothing .. and with cyanogen rom it is not the same stock ROM .. different. This has his settings, which i like. I think this may be the version where people are saying video playback has been an issue and i have had absolutely no issues with the video playback thru stock player or youtube at all .. no forces closes and everything seems to be working fine with this one so far.
But ya the best advice has already been said .. try them all ... thats what people do when they arent sure about something .. they try it .. obviously what i did . or i couldnt tell you about it.
Thanks all! I think I'm going to be trying the CM ROM. Thanks for all the advice.
dont know what im doing
i dont know what i'm doing, but i do believe i rooted my phone, downloaded titanium back, rom manager, visionary super user, setcpu, and super user. but cant seem to get my phone in recovery screen mode. please help

Latest/ best current Ginger Mod for A953?

Hi,
I've successfully modded my MS2 yesterday using (walter's?) "ms2ginger-rc2". It's been quite easy - I expected it to be much more difficult.
Unfortunately it's impossible to add accounts (app crashs). Therefore I plan to roll back to the sysbackup Imade before with Clockworkmod and to re-mod it with a newer/ better/ more stable variant.
Can you suggest one that you are happy with? I am fine with Blur - it can be included.
Anything to keep in mind for the rollback? Just revert to the backup via the bootloader?
CU,
Meszi.

i have tried CM7 and was before using it on BackFlip, but on Milestone 2 i am really loving MIUI its great ROM.
The problem is as i saw no one who is maintaining these CM7 or MIUI rom is not Dev, so i kinda think Milestone 2 can perform better with some optimalisation for it. The reason is as far as Stock Froyo was slow, CM7 and MIUI did not show kinda speed progress or increase i guess it is performing same as stock ROM or maybe little but only little better, on BackFlip there was really dramatic speed change on CM7 but the dev around BF was more active then on Milestone and i am happy with what we have already.
As far as I know, the MIUI is the latest one. But that's just because endles7's ( the guy who is porting CM7 to M2) phone is bricked at the moment.
Both, CM7 and MIUI are great ROMs, but, at least for now, if you're looking for the newest one, then MIUI is the one for.
I believe that CM7 will be supported again soon, there is a movement on the forum to buy endles7 a new one if his is really bricked forever.
I'm using MIUI because o like the interface better.
Hope it helped =)
Upgraded to "ms2ginger 1.1" but still problems with accounts management
Hi,
I reverted to Froyo, reloaded the backup I had done with Clockworkmod, made an app backup using Titanium and re-modded the device to "ms2ginger 1.1". But still there is the same issue with accounts ("Konten" in German): When trying to add an account the app crashes.
I am fine with the rest ... it works far faster than with Froyo.
Is there a way to get accounts/"Konten" work again? Probably by finding it in the Titanium backup and taking the old app or by (re)installing some working .apk?
At the moment I am still very new to this topic ... until last week I still believed in the myth having bought an "unmoddable" device.
I'd try CM7, too ... but if it's possible to have it done with "ms2ginger" I'd at first prefer trying it that way.
Any suggestions?
CU,
Mészi.
after trying cm7, i really prefer MIUI Rom on A953 !
but Cyanogen team will soon release a 2.3.7 Rom ... so we'll see !
Switching from MS2Ginger to CM7 Nightly
Sorry, if it appears to be a dumb question. But at the moment I am still very new to this topic and want to avoid bricking the device by forgetting a thing when switching from "MS2Ginger 1.1" to some CM7 ROM...
When reading the installation steps of the nightly build (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239778)...
*START copy&paste*
[How to Install]:
1. Download all in one update.zip
2. Make sure you have CWM3.x/4.x working. Or download from here.
3. select all in one.zip then apply update.
4. double wipe(if you are coming from previous CM7 version,just wipe cache/dalvik)
5. For CWM4.x, reboot and done.
For CWM3.x, download fixed-sbf and flash it. Then done.
*END copy&paste*
...it's not plain to me if I needed to switch back to the official Froyo or if "updating" with the all in one.zip and wiping the data would be sufficient to get rid of the previous "MS2Ginger". :-/
Any recommendations?
CU,
Mészi.
Do you try with "RSD Lite" software to put the stock Rom ?
and then you do the update to the custom rom ... no brick with this method i think ! but i'm not expert sorry !

That's the question.
If it's not necessary I'd directly load the CM7 ROM using CWM.
But, anyway: As long as I can access the boot loader (PowerOn + Cam + VolDown) I could still revert to the official Froyo if updating to CM7 directly would not work.
I think I just give it a try...
CU,
Mészi.
exactly ... i was afraid last friday while updating my stock rom for MIUI ... my battery goes out !
all day i was thinking that my lovely Milestone was bricked ... but with "rsd lite" i re-install my original froyo ... and then i could re-root it and put the miui version !
last version is perfect ! just the problem of keyboard layout but there is a script who put it back to azerty ...
have a good luck for your update !
++
So you would recommend downgrading to the official Froyo at first? *somewhat confused* :-/
Sent from my MB953 using XDA App
... i don't really know ... just said that for me that was the only way to rescue my bootlooping m2 !
normaly you can update from any rom, just don't forget to clear cache, "dalvik cache" too (don't remeber the name) ...
the best is to do a factory reset before rebooting too ... but it's not always necessary ... from miui 1.09.23 to miui 1.10.8 i don't have to do it ...
they don't talk about it in the related post of your rom ?
Ok, thx. I am gonna just try it wiping the cache and overwriting the ROM. ROM switching is not relly described in the MS2Ginger HowTos. *g*
Will post my results here...

Hi there,
I just "updated" my MS2 from "ms2ginger 1.1" to "EndlessCM7_20111001_Nightly_BPSW_v1_0" without any problems.

Problems with CM/ Nightly
Hi there,
I am half-way about to throw it away again.
I installed EndlessCM7_20111001_Nightly_BPSW_v1_0.zip and then EndlessCM7_update_from_111001_to_111004_v1_5.zip and it appeared to work fine.
But I had to recognize an instable Market app, WiFi cannot connect to my access point and the camera app crashes reliably after starting it.
I will post this in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1239778 too hoping that these are known issues with known solutions on it.
If anyone of you knows I'd be glad if you threw some suggestions at me.
CU,
Mészi.
O well....
For me, MIUI is workind perfectlly, without any problems.
And, my battery life increased alot with the latest build of it
So i would recommend it.

Hi, Michael:
I'd like to have my MS2's battery improved like you said and enjoy Exchange server support as well . Do you know if MIUI rom supports it?
MIUI has Exchange server support and works fine.

CM7 for Idea Blade users!

Good news for Idea Blade users. The CM7 Rom by Burgerz found here works on our phones perfectly. Camera and touchscreen issues are fixed and the Rom is FAST. I'm using it now, you might want to give it a try
Cheers!
Thanks for handing out the information mate because i was getting lots of PM`s about that reason and i could not give a clear answer.
No problem
hi,
Tried the Rom on my Idea blade and camera gives error. the same error as other versions of CM7. "cannot connect camera"
Format all your partitions from cwm and try flashing again
hi couldn't download the rom from official page, could you please upload to mediafire thanks.

I Have an Idea Blade. Had problem with both camera and touchscreen in CM7.1.0. Yesterday i tried the CM7 Rom by Burgerz. Touchscreen is working properly but still can't use the camera. The same "cannot connect camera" error appears. What are all the partitions should i format? I've formatted data, cache and dalvik partitions. Still the problem persists.

Some newer Blades have different hardware which needs different drivers to work. As ZTE doesn't release the source code for these properly, the current roms won't work properly on all of the newer versions. If may be possible that someone can fix it, but without ZTE releasing the sources it will be difficult for them.

I'm running this one from Burstlam and really like it. I prefer it because Burgerz's using and older (and plain) launcher. Camera works fine also.

You might want yo PM the dev about it. I had similar issues on CM stable but not anymore. Also you can give a try to LewaOS and other Chinese roms. They are based on cm7 fot the V880 which is what idea blade is.

I also had the same problem with CM7.1. Formatting the cache and data partitions might make the touchscreen work (worked for me). Even though you format the partitions, touchscreen will stop working after the phone get into sleep mode and you have to format the data and cache partitions every time the touchscreen stops responding.
I have heard that Libraginger works fine on ZTE-U V880. But the download link seems to be broken. I am working on CM7 Rom by Burgerz even though camera is not functioning as i feel it is much stable and lesser buggier than official ZTE rom.

thanks for your advice , is that the standard factory reset from the phone , if so i have tried doing a factory reset , and it didnt fix the problem ,
you have to root your phone and install the following app from play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.rmdir.ms2debounce use the settings from the picture in the store. if this doesn't solve your problem, you need to send it to the service. mine has it's third hw keyboard now. but now it's fine since 7 months!!!

it changes the keyboard delay. you should realize it as soon as you start typing. if not play with the settings. if its not better than, you have to use the service to repair your device.
