HDMI mirroring? - Droid X General

Did a search and really didn't find good info. My friend has a Droid x that is running cm. Is there any way to enable mirroring? I have an Evo and it was just an app away for me after I went to aosp. Any help would be appreciated.

As far as I know CM ROM does not support HDMI, You have better luck with Liberty v0.9

As far as I know the hardware does not support a mirror mode. I could be wrong. The only HDMI I have used is through RealHDMI, and it leaves the screen from that app on the phone while displaying my current activity on the TV.
There was a long discussion with the app dev explaining why it was impossible to mirror the display. Maybe we need a custom kernel?

I think its in the FAQs for realHDMI it says its a hardware issue...

Thanks for the help. I will pass on the info. I think he said he could show his gallery but nothing else. Damn bootloader! Haha

GPU in the DroidX does not have the processing power to output to the screen and hdmi out at the same time without affecting frame rate?
Might work for still shots and lower resolution videos...

Could you elaborate on the "HQ"? Is that an app or option on the phone? Please pardon my lack of knowledge! Thanks!
No its on the app itself, open youtube press the menu button, check the first one(enable high quallity, something like that)

Yeah but are you able to have full HDMI capabilities, such as viewing your homescreen in like landscape mode. Thats what I'm trying to figure out. Im on Apex 1.4.1 as well and can only view images/video with the blur gallery. As soon as i click out, the screen goes blank.

Real hdmi does work on apex 1.4.1, but I can't get full screen like video player. additionally today I discovered that the video player for apex plays divx avi full screen on my tv. Just like movies app does mp4. It was awesome.

Official Netflix App... no Atrix

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.netflix.mediaclient
So it finally came out but only supports a limited number of handsets. On the official blog they say there is no consistent video playback mechanism on Android so they have to test with each phone. Seems dumb that they wouldn't test on a Tegra 2 phone right out of the gate, since that would essentially mean compatibility with ANY Tegra 2 device...
APK
Anyone have the apk? Would like to test on my atrix.
i bet you it has far less to do with playback on each device, and more to do with locking down the video feed for each device.
I think most if not all the supported handsets right now have qaulcomm chipsets.

this page has a link to the apk

Qaulcomm was supose to have hardware level drm first in future chipsets

Meh, don't care about netflix anyway.
Working great on my buddys Evo 4g. Still a little choppy compared to the iphone but its a start. Hopefully with my faster data and dual core the atrix will handle it.
They got it to work on nook color by just editing the build.prop
ro.product.model=HTC Vision
ro.product.manufacturer=HTC
And then rebooting.
Has anyone else tried this?
Ya didn't work for me
neone else?
There is another thread about this. I played with the build.prop on atrix, comparing it to my evo with cyanogen7. I copied all relavant info I could think of, but it didn't work, and it broke swype. There are a lot more fields in the atrix than the evo.
With no edits I can load the app and manage my queue, but I get an error when I try to play. After I edit, the app never even loads.

Care to elaborate? You don't mean that you can stream Netflix on an Atrix, do you (and if by some chance yes, how?)?
On my atrix it says your "device is not supported "

I am using that also and have the same problem. It's better than nothing though.
This modified APK works great for me. I just watched something over 3G, we only have 1-2 mbits here in DC and it looked GREAT, no pixelation or artifacts.
The picture is using the full display but there is a quarter inch green bar at the bottom. However, the bar is just overlaying the picture like a filter. It might be where the CC would be. You can still see the picture underneath.
So great quality for me even over 3G, full screen with a green bar at the bottom. Once that bar is gone, thats it I would say.
Update: ok, sometimes, objects or parts of the picture have a green or pinkish shadow. But it is definitely still watchable.
Yeah I tried the modified app as well. Green bar on bottom. Lots of pink and green in the picture.
Glad at least we have SOMETHING..hopefully someone will fix the issues soon.

[Q] Netflix output to HDMI TV works?

Anyone tried this with good results?
My results:
I use the free "device check disabled" version of the Netflix app, and it operates great on my stock unrooted DroidX. Watched entire movies over 3G with no problems. Works over WiFi too.
Got myself a HDMI cable for the phone to TV (less than $4 incl. shipping, from Amazon)
I've tried using the free "Xternal Display for Droid X" app to send output to an external HDMI monitor.
Works for a couple of minutes, then quits.
I suspect the "Xternal Display" app is getting swapped out by the Android OS, and that kills the TV output.

There's an app in the market called realhdmi that works I haven't tested it on netflix yet but it works great with youtube videos
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
I purchased the hdmi app from the market. Afterwards Netflix started right up on my tv. No luck before that. It is somewhat of a pain to use. What you see on your tv is not what you see on your phone. Takes some time to get use to.
This makes the DroidX the smallest Netflix streaming device for a TV?
Sent from my unrooted DroidX using XDA App
I've been using the same app and ut works it just randomly stops working alot and I have to reopen the xternal app. But you could try using the paid app realhdmi, I haven't had any issues with that

sorry, i think iphone 4 and ipod touch 4g are smaller, and officially support tv-out with component, vga, and hdmi (with proper cables/dongles). i wish my droid x officially supported hdmi out for anything useful.

I'm hearing real hdmi doesn't work under Gingerbread yet. Can someone confirm?
Also, under Froyo, has anyone watched an *entire* Netflix movie using real hdmi without any problems?
Sent from an unrooted DroidX using XDA app.
Realhdmi works on gingerbread as of a few weeks ago.

Real HDMI will do the job, but because netflix is a mobile app, the picture quality is passable when it is highest, but not watchable if your connection slows and the video quality drops.

TV-Out?

Hello I currently have a Vibrant and the phone has TV out with a touchwiz rom but switching to cm7 or miui it doesn't....I was thinking about the evo and how it also has tv out with a SENSE ROM and was wondering if you can use tv in cm7 or miui?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
If you want to use hdmi mirroring, that is completely possible on any froyo roms such as mynswarm2.2
Our gingerbread kernel source code, which is needed for hdmi out, was just released, so devs are working on getting full hdmi out working on custom gingerbread roms.

Yes, with the right kernal and the right hdmi mirroring app. And the right cable.
The only thing I can get my HDMI cable to do is display youtube. lol. stupid phone. HOWEVER, NICE LITTLE FACT! what's the point if the phones can't even play back video in the MOST COMMON FORMATS THAT HAVE BEEN AROUND FOR 10 YEARS!
This would be sortof on the same subject. what is the best program to use?
Wow!
I wish we could have an app ...
We use the headphone Jack and so far there isn't any tv out!

There is, its called an hdmi mirroring app.
CM7 has certain kernels with hardware acceleration enabled for hdmi mirroring.
The app in the market is called "Full HDMI Mirroring for Evo 4G."
yxplayer2 in the market plays almost any format.
