[Q] [REQ] OpenVpn full solution for SGS2 - Galaxy S II General

Hi all,
I have been tinkering with connectivity into my corporate network and so far been able to get a connection to our Office Communicator server via ASProxy and a secure wireless connection. However I am looking for a solution that works across my 3G connection via a VPN.
I have looked at the market place versions of OpenVpn and I cannot get it to work with our Cisco Gateway. I got stuck at the tun and adb part, so not sure what I need to do at this point so though I would ask the experts on here ;-) There has been much work on a very important missing part which was a user authentication proxy, so the next bit for me would be a means of connecting to an IPSec/UDP Cisco VPN Gateway that works with my Domain username and then a fob generated password.
Any help from you guys would be most appreciated and perhaps I can share my ASProxy configuration for anyone wishing to get their's working....
Thanks
Avalon

Hi,
you can't use an OpenVPN client to connect to a Cisco (IPsec) VPN server.
If you want to connect to an OpenVPN server then you can use OpenVPN Installer and OpenVPN Settings from the market.
If you want to connect to an IPsec server then use the built-in android VPN client or even some proprietary Cisco client from the market... (don't know about these as I only use OpenVPN)

Hi, thanks for the reply, however the built in VPN client will not work with our server. There is a Cisco anyconnect client that does connect, but we need a license for it which we dont currently have.
I will keep trying....

VPN Authentication Question

Does anyone know:
Is it possible to do Group Authentication with the built-in VPN client? My work network uses a Cisco VPN and I've managed to extract out of our IT department the Group name and Password but I can't figure out how to enter this onto the Exec - it offers me "A certificate on this device" or "A pre-shared key" and entering the password into the pre-shared key doesn't seem to work. Our IT department tells me that the Exec is unsupported and won't give me any help so anyone out there know how to do this?
If it's not possible, anyone recommend a good VPN client for connecting to a Cisco VPN?
Thanks
G
Anybody?
My work uses group authentication also. Does anyone know a good vpn client that will work with group authentication?
There is a Cisco ICA/Xen/client for ARM PDA here: http://www.citrix.com/English/ss/downloads/details.asp?downloadId=3607&productId=186#top
Is this what you are looking for?
interesting..
I didn't know there was a citrix client for WM. My work also uses citrix. The only problem is in order to connect with the citrix client I must have a VPN tunnel first . My work uses Cisco VPN Group Authentication. I have not yet found a VPN client for WM that will allow Cisco group authentication. If anyone knows of one, PLEASE let me know.
Thanks wovens for the citrix client. That will be neat to try if I can ever get a VPN tunnel setup.
FOUND IT!
I finally found a VPN client that will work with Cisco group authentication. It is Bluefire Mobile Security VPN. One thing I found is that after you connect you must press the END key to get out of the client because pressing the x will kill the client. Works Great!
The only problem is the company went out of business (http://www.bluefiresecurity.com). I was able to find the .cab, but not sure if it is against forum rules to post it... Can a mod please inform me, thx.
Does your company use Cisco SSL Vpn by chance? It's the way Cisco is leaning as is with less support for the ipsec since they can make more money off of licensing.
Anyhow if your company does use SSL VPN, Cisco's anyconnect client supports Windows mobile. I have been using it and it works good for what I use it for (primarily SSH, but for kicks I tried remote desktop and it worked good too).

HTC TyTNII vpn to a cisco vpn

Hi,
I try to establish a vpn connection to our company-VPN.
VPN Gateway is a cisco device. "Normal" connection via notebook with cisco vpn client works.
On my TyTN i installed ncp client. But i dont know how to configure the cisco settings.
On Cisco VPN Client:
- IP Adress of Gateway
- Group Authentication
- Transport IPSec over UDP
On ncp VPN Client:
- IP Adress of Gateway is easy to find
But i cannot assign the other settings. NCP Client has a lot of settings.
Has anybody success to establish vpn connection via windows Mobile to a cisco Gateway ?
Got it. Not the vpn Client was the problem.
The Blackberry connect SW (disabled!) prevented connection via vpn.
Deinstallation of BB Connect und vpn Client from Bluefire works fine.
What did you use as the VPN client to connect into the cisco gateway?
Do you use a RSA secureID token?
I am tring to get a VPN connection running from my HTC p3600i, WM6.
New VPN Client
Since a few days i use another VPN Client: www.ncp.de
Works fine. We do not user RSA Token. Only Group Authentication (free string to identify groups) and XAUTH - user/password.

Any ideas on a MPPE PPTP VPN via WM6? I have been trying to get this to work for months and can't. I am operating under the presumption that the VPN client in WM5/6/6.1 doesn't support MPPE and I am therefor up S#!T creek without a 3rd party dialer...
(It is a VPN connection to my work and yes as sorry as this is they still use an encrypted PPTP connection for all of their VPN connections. If they would just move on to something a LITTLE more current L2TP/IPsec I wouldn't be having any of these problems...)
But is there such a thing as a 3rd party PPTP VPN client for WM5/6/6.1 I haven't been able to find one...
TIA~

New(ish) Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client
Cisco have released an AnyConnect VPN client for Windows Mobile 5/6 (version 2.3.185). This is specifically targetted towards the ASA 5500 platform as the VPN server, however it should also work with IOS VPN devices (I am told?).
I haven't tried it, however I have seen it demonstrated and it all seemed to work.
Personally I prefer the integrated L2TP/IPSec VPN client and have posted previously on how to get this working with Cisco PIX 6.3, ASA/PIX 7.x and IOS devices.
Andy
AnyConnect VPN client will support only SSL VPN, that avaiable on Cisco ASA and IOS from 12.4(20)T or later.
Can I have two VPN connections to two different places on the same computer?
I work at two different medical facilities. I have a VPN connection to one and I'm trying to set up one for the other. When I'm in the New Connection Wizard and I pick "automatically dial connection", it makes me pick the medical facility that I already had on the computer to "automatically dial" when trying to create this new one.
cool vpn has given the users privilege to surf internet with freedom and security Thanks to VPN

Best VPN Software?? Bluefire Security Mobile VPN A++

just thought I would share my experiences. I need 24x7 access to my work network as I am one of the system admins...searching the internet I found what seemed to be just about the only one around...anthasoft vpn..downloaded the trial and I just couldnt get it to connect, not to mention whenever i had the program installed it killed my t-mobile data GPRS data connection....so i uninstalled it and stumbled upon Bluefire Mobile VPN
http://www.bluefiresecurity.com/products/vpn/
They have a free 14 day trial that installed and connects perfectly over gprs or wifi to my company network! I use it in conjunction with Mochasoft TN5250 for as/400 access and Jetcet print for a wireless connection with printing anywhere on the go
OpenVPN is free...
I use OpenVPN and it's great. It also completely free. For more information go to http://ovpnppc.ziggurat29.com/ovpnppc-main.htm. The one downside to openvpn is that it requires some knowledge to make it work; you need to know how to create and sign certificates in OpenSSL. There's a tutorial at the main OpenVPN site at openvpn.sf.net. With this, I can't understand why anyone would want to pay for a VPN solution. If you've got the technical knowledge, it's a no-brainer.
...but it doesn't work with Cisco vpn.
OpenVPN that is. Bluefire works perfectly with our corporate Cisco VPN. Which for me is a must have.
Well, obviously...
Of course you have to use the correct VPN client to connect to your VPN server. But if I have a choice about which VPN solution to set up, I'll choose OpenVPN for its cost-effectiveness.
likewise we have a cisco vpn here at our auction, so Bluefire was a must!

OpenVPN (WM6) connects but anyhow doesn't work...

Hi,
I have a HP Ipaq 210 series PDA with WM6 and trying to get OpenVPN to work for allowing me to connect the our university network.
After presenting my user data, OpenVPN says "connected" and displays the green symbol. Nevertheless my browsers (PIE, Opera Mobile) or any other internet app is able to "go outside".
Do I have to tell Windows or the browser to use the VPN-tunnel anyhow? I just don't know how to proceed.
Any information that could help me?
Kind regards,
roke
Can somebody please at least indicate how the configuration in the windows connection manager should be? ISP/work and so on? network device should connect to work/ISP? Configuration of OpenVPN: Use connection manager? On which network? Exclusive? ...
I just don't know what else I can do. The admins responsible for the VPN are bloody amateurs and don't know anything about windows mobile...
Help me please...
Regards,
roke
I have not tried openvpn on the ppc, but i run some openvpn connections for my company.
The openvpn server is configured to push the various parameters to the client, essentially that is the ip address ranges which should pass through the vpn and any DNS servers. (Excepted for bridged mode, where the ipaddress will be in the same subnet as the main site.)
From the Openvpn web site :"By default, when an OpenVPN client is active, only network traffic to and from the OpenVPN server site will pass over the VPN. General web browsing, for example, will be accomplished with direct connections that bypass the VPN." Why would you want it any other way?
What is it that is not working?
Can you access the sites and resources with the openvpn connection?
Can you access the sites on the openvpn server side by ipaddress?
Regards
Chapelhill

At work we have a guest wifi that I have to use a Cisco NAC (Trust agent) client to authenticate through to to get Internet connection.
Any ideas of other ways to authenticate as long as Cisco NAC is Java and therefore not possible to use on Android? Thanks
