[Q] a500 - xoom - Acer Iconia A500

is there a way to replace my acer a500 files with xoom files in turn making it a xoom instead of a acer ?

Is it possible to replace the FIAT 500's engine with a Ferrari's one and thus make it a Ferrari? NO YOU CAN'T! The hardware is not Identical! If you want a Xoom go and buy a Xoom!

It stil wouldnt be a xoom. Different maker. Besides whats so nice about the xoom.

... with a Ferrari engine. So you're wrong. But your point remains valid.
Too different of devices, there'd be no point in anyone working on such a port as the differences in software are negligible.

[APP] "Leaked" Android Market Update

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum but not to android devices.
I thought I would share the Leaked Android Market Update. Confirmed working on the A5000.
I take no credit for this.
Loving this tab so far, enjoy!

nvm..

I installed and do not like it seems cluttered on front page
It looks ugly. I prefer the current market.
Well... it will be our only choice in less than a month.

Not if we back up current market...
I found one could use both markets actually.
Not sure if i like the new one, maybe it takes some time to get used to, it definatly has some improvement, but it feels kinda bulky to me.

NO! It won't the only choice! This Market App is for Smartphones ONLY!!! The honeycomb Market is different and won't be replaced by this one! Google may make something similar but we will have to wait to see! BTW I wouldn't use this app on a tablet! It may be not so compatible!

Gay as in happy or just down right attractive.people from all sexual orientation do use this forum.it digs at my ability to control my temper to words disrespecting people. Just saying bad choice in word.
And yes I agree this market app is prob not mentioned for tablets. Its so awkward. Uninstalled.
sorry op
I tried it early on, and ready didn't like the look or feel of it.
I just installed to my acer iconia a500. The install worked just fine, but I will have to spend some time with the market to see if I like it better or not.
Either way, after updating to Honeycomb 3.1, my market was messing up, even after a factory reset, so it should at least be better than that.
*edit*
I just found out that I still have both markets, the old and the new, to choose from.

Netflix on the Galaxy Note

Apparently the Note is great for viewing movies and I look forward to using it whilst travelling by air. I wondered if anyone knows if it works on Netflix?

Thanks it funny because I am with Sprint 3 lines and would never go to ATT because it is so expensive for what you get. I wanted the phone so bad that I got it anyway despite all of my rationalization that suggested otherwise. Its my Christmas gift to myself...damn it...i never get anything for Christmas...I give to everyone else.....that's my story and I am sticking to it. I upgrade my phones every 3 months or as soons as something new come out. I just have a feeling that with all the quad core and HD phones around the near corner, it is still highly unlikely that we will see a 5.3 HD screen again anytime soon.

Yeah you won't be dissapointed it's awesome. Just don't be surprised if "regular" sized phones don't hold much appeal to you going forward. A day after getting my note my 4" Atrix became unbearable to use

ICS UK Release

I've been Googling ICS release in the UK for the Wi-Fi Xoom, but can't find anything confirming it's release.
I understand it's rolling out in the US at the moment, but does anyone know about us over the pond in the UK, or Europe?
If they stick to honeycomb times expect 3-5 months

Just follow up to step 3 ...then just wait for the OTA updates
My xoom was the UK version... now running the oh so smooth ICS with US rom and lovin it!
All my mates xooms are on us firmware. Ota updates work great. Way better then waiting

OK, thanks for the pointers, it doesn't look too bad.
So I can re-lock the boot loader after I've flashed it for warranty reasons (only got the Xoom today )
It also appears that I can change the locale to English, so no USA currency, date etc?

Just wanted to check, as don't want to end up with a useless place mat
Are you running the US firmware / software?
I'm pretty sure its impossible to brick the Xoom while using fastboot .. just make sure everything is typed correctly and that you have all programs/drivers installed..

Search for 'locale2'.
would it be a good idea to relock the bootloader? what would be the pros and cons of doing so?

Would be nice for devs, compile the kernel directly on the phone, reboot, clockwork done
