[Q] I9000 revert to official EUR ROM - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hi to all,
I'd like to revert my rom to an official one (froyo 2.2.1) and let kies update to the latest revision.
I founded tutorials on how to flash the rom, I now need the correct official rom for my GT I9000 so kies will recognize it and permit updates.
the product code is:
GT-I9000HKDEUR
actual firmware is:
PDA : I9000RSJP5
PHONE : I9000XJPP
CSC : I9000ITVJP3
I do not remember the original firmware letter codes so I need to reconstruct it; as I can see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14273114&postcount=2
as I can see there I think I can flash with:
XWJSD/XXJPY/OXXJS6/Sbl
XWJS8/XXJPY/OXXJS5
XWJS5/XXJPY/OXXJS4
Can somebody point me to the correct one?

I mean since you want to downgrade to your original firmware you have to tell us in which country you live in you know there are different firmwares for different regions. there is no 'europe' version as such.

ok I'm in italy.
thanks

Ok then i would recommend XWJS8 to you. you can find it in the thread you mentioned above.

No, unfortunately everyone above is mistaken. Your phone is Greek, (EUR is Greece, not Europe, as you might think). And more bad news for you, there is no 2.2.1 firmware for Greece, Samsung never released it. They are waiting for 2.3.3 any day now, however. The official firmware for your phone is XWJPH, 2.2. I will post a link when I get to my pc...

EDIT: Here you are... http://www.multiupload.com/AS2RWUE64Z. Wipe your phone with a factory reset, then flash this on top with Odin without repartition. You will then have the official version for your phone.
I'm not sure why you would want to do that, however...

what is the latest ROM version for SGS?

as far as i understood he just wants to get gingerbread via kies. and if he is in italy, the product code doesnt matter at all, only thing that matters is his previous firmware. and with js8 he should get an offer from kies for gingerbread as it is officially available for italy. http://asf-mobiles.com/2011/06/samsung-releases-android-gingerbread-italy-for-galaxy-s/
please correct me if im wrong i actually never used kies.

Yes, unfortunately I do have to correct you, sorry, you are wrong
Kies will not recognise the JS8 firmware because the italian rom will not match his greek product code. If he puts JS8 on, Kies will just tell him that "This firmware cannot be updated".
The only solution, if the OP's problem is staying under warranty and using Kies, is to flash the firmware that corresponds to his product code, which is the one I provided above.
Anything else will involve messing with the /efs folder to completely change the product code, but there is no point in doing that, as the IMEI of the phone will still betray its origins.
Actually I personally don't see the point in going back to an old Froyo build just to be able to upgrade via Kies, when Odin will give you the exact same result, and you can actually flash a newer and better ROM, which has not been given to Greece by Samsung, for whatever reason.
But in order to properly use Kies to officially upgrade, my previous post stands
-----
Of course, if you don't care about where the phone came from and all that warranty stuff and you only want to get it to upgrade via Kies, you can always change the sales code to ITV, by pressing phone and typing *#272*IMEI# (where IMEI is your phone's IMEI number, found by typing *#06#, or on the phone itself (under the battery)). Then choose ITV, and press Install. The phone will reset to factory defaults, you will lose your apps, but then you will be able to upgrade to the latest Italian Gingerbread with Kies, which for you will be RSJV3.

Maybe because Greece hasn't paid Samsung....

You're hilarious

Argh!!!!!
as Tyxerakias said the XWJS8 will not result updatable with kies.
the rom suggested by Tyxerakias, result in kies as the latest for the phone, but was unusable.
lot of process (like "android.process.acore") died unexpected and the phone was not usable.
I returned to XWJS8 but is not the solution I wanted.

Cannot update Galaxy Tab !

This morning connected my Galaxy Tab to KIES and it prompted that there is an update !!
it took ages to download its binary files then finally after it got done, it gave me a decryption error !!
I have changed my sales code to gain access to market, could this be the problem or do i redownload the files !!
Isn't there a way to UPGRADE fw via OTA? or placing update.zip in root of sd nd flashing from recovery? (similar to HTC devices)
how do I upgrade to the latest version? help please
Cheers
Jackie
PS: Please find attached the firmware code : current and new !
Are you UK based Jackie? Just guessing as you said cheers! I've seen nothing this morning though have read there was an Android Market update which I had already downloaded and applied, maybe why I'm seeing no update.
no I'm based in UAE !! that's just teh way I speak !!
Ah right, nice to read it all the same, Cheers!
so anyone has any idea?
Jackie,
I don't bother with Kies.... It put my SGS in a right mess and couldn't be used until I sorted it out with another ROM and a different PC software upgrader by the name of Odin.
Your best bet is to go on over to samfirmware.com and check out the latest ROM's available.
I'm sending you also a link which although was written for the SGS and Froyo it's still relevant for ROM files for the Tab and how to use Odin.
See here:- How to use Odin to Upgrade the SGS to Froyo

First, what ROM version do you currently have installed?
Next, look at the list of ROM's available see here.
You need to find out if you are on a European, Asian, Arabic, etc ROM and decide if you want to stay on that list or opt to another nation list.
For European lists JMA is the latest. There's a topic on JMA here.
PDA: P1000JPJJ2
Phone: P1000JXJJ1
CSC: P1000OJPJJ3
is what is being reported on *#1234# and samfirmware says this is the Arabic firmware and the latest for Arabic is P1000JVJL1 December 2010, not that I'm interested in any of the region specific apps - just wondering what has been fixed in these firmwares and also if flashing would delete all my data (I'm guessing it would)
I don't mind flashing a European firmware too, so which would be best?
PS: Tab is currently rooted with OCLF set ! =)
Cheers
Hi may i ask if you do firmware update does the tab have to be sim free not lock to a network as im on t-mobile uk, i dont want to brick my tab

It should not delete any data.
The browser and camera have been improved.
The browser now scrolls smoother.
The camera focus's much better.
No idea what other improvements have been made.
It does not really matter which firmware you wish to use BUT bear in mind a number of users who have performed a lagfix have had issues in upgrading the ROM.
You MUST ensure you remove any lagfix applied otherwise you stand a good chance in bricking the phone.
Also, ensure you have access to the Recovery and download mode.
You will need this if you 'brick' the phone.

You need someone who is on a T-Mobile locked phone to answer this. I have heard of users on carrier networks who have run into issues.
Basically, unless you have a sound knowledge in what you are doing I would not attempt it until you get good solid advice.
seems like a long procedure, I'll hold off until i'm done with my exams....
also should I try KIES again? just in case ?? o.0

Got a similar problem... info says its P1000XXJID, valid euro firmware... Bought the tab in Hungary (Middle of europe), carrier free, and after looking at samfirmware.com's ROM list I was wondering about the updates.
Kies tells me this version can't be updated...
Can anyone help me with this problem?
Many, Many of us here in UK are having problems and are unsuccessful when trying to update/upgrade using Kies.
Hopefully Kies will get fixed properly to allow us all to use it.

Even ActiveSync was better... at least it didn't offer the SW update...
to trick kies to update u could use kies registry patcher. I have sucsessfully updated via kies from jj3 -> jj7 (when no updates was availible)
read thru this post

Use the info from check fus and paste it in registry patcher, reboot pc - start kies - connect phone - something should happen.

Official ROM availibility question + differences [SGS II]

Yesterday I've updated mu phone soft, but the newest version KIES found was i9100XXKE4 - looks like it's not the newest one (should be WEK4, dated on 25.05.2011). Does anyone know why KIES didn't show newer version and when it will be availible for my phone?
Best Regards, Jack

When the phone provider or network upgrade the firmware you get the upgrade from Kies . Phones product code determines the firmware .

I know it, but from what I know my phones wasn't from any phone carrier, it's a stock one, bought in a shop. Is it any way to determine is it stock phone (by serial number, by rom number) or bought from the carrier (mayby I'm wrong about it's origin)...
Answer is because KE4 is the latest available Polish firmware.
Ok, that should be an answer. But the question is, how long do You think it take Samsung to make latest rom availible for Poland?

Unknown... Nobody knows. TBH I'd use the standard "UK" or Europe one that is updated fastest on...
Ok, but how, if the KIES don't see any newer ones? If I change language in the phone, will it work? Are there any other options, that are recognized by KIES to determine my location, thus blocking newest software update? Some time ago I used KIES Registry editor when wanted to update my wife's Samsung Wave (S8500) to bada 1.2, but it was differernt (older) KIES and different system (bada).
Kies takes Product Code and a few other codes matches them to that specific firmware on the server for those codes .
I have never ever on SGS 1 or 2 managed to update firmware via Kies once stock rom flashed .

From the linked threat I can confirm, that my phone was unbranded - I had XKE2 and could update only to KE4. Looks like there is nothing more for me to do except: waiting for update via KIES or risk update by Odin. Tough choice for me...

Lie! There's no Brazil update.
Had to flash using Odin, which I recommend.
I've been waiting for 2.3.4 XEU to be available on Kies so I can update to official firmware. But I was just thinking...why do I care if its XEU or not? I can flash an official update from another region and still switch the language to english. I am in USA on AT&T anyway so its not like even XEU matches my country.
Am I missing something here? Is there a reason it matters to be on XEU for Americans?
It can depend if your phone is branded as the carriers can block Kies updates! There are serious problems with builds before KF3 (eg wifi sharing bug) so it worth flashing to that version if your carrier is blocking Kies updates. I updated about two months ago via Kies to build KF3 (2.3.3). I am in the UK unbranded O2/car phone warehouse. I am waiting for this latest new update to arrive on my s2 via Kies.
I am unlocked/unbranded. I think I'm going to just flash another official 2.3.4 firmware from Intratech's thread and then when a UK version comes out, I'll just flash that. I'm being patient for no reason Now I just have to figure out which region's firmware to flash....

question: I wanted to check out if the new firmware is available in my country, so i just restored (from cwm) my original firmware (cf-root kernel), reflashed a original kf3 kernel.
But Kies message is "You cannot update this device type".
Did i forgot to restore something original? besides the "root" everything else (rom + kernel) is original.
Well np i go back to miui i dont rly care atm, but in future if icecream is released, i prolly want to try it and having a working kies makes it faster.
Any suggestion?

Seriously, man. Ice Cream will be melted loooong before it shows up on KIES. If/when it shows up and you want it sooner, you'll more than likely need to flash it via Odin. KIES is limited by carrier releases. My SII wouldn't update via KIES either. Odin is the standard around here for a reason. It's safer, and it allows you to try what YOU want when YOU want it. Not when your carrier and/or Samsung releases it.

Samsung Galaxy S update via KIES not working.

Hello everyone and sorry if i created a topic that already exists ive been searching this forum for hours and i could not find a solution to my problem.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 purchased in Slovenia at the provider Mobitel.
I've tried to update my phone to a newer version of the firmware trough Kies but i get the following error.
OK as im new it doesnt let me insert links :/ so my firmware version is the following:
PDA:JS2 / PHONE:JPY / CSC:JS1 (MOT)
i know the update to 2.3 is availible in Slovenia but i think i am missing some update inbetween or something, as you can see my Kies says its not an official version on my phone but it is, my phone is the same as i bought it ive never updated yet nor i installed any custom stuff on it.
Hope someone can help me i've been trying to update for about 2 weeks now :/ thanks!
Hi it would seem that http://www.samfirmware.com/ have a lot of updates that don't seem to be on kies I have updated my I9000 to 2.3.5 using Odin from there.
Everything you need to do it is on that site there are many threads on this forum for updating you phone. Before you do back up your IMEI data because if something goes wrong (not that it should) this data is unrecoverable.
See this link for how to do it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859914
When you go onto samfirmware there are guides on how to use Odin and what firmwares to use. Not that the name of the firmware version holds info about country codes and languages so my firmware I9000XXJVS is decoded in the following way -
I9000 - model
XX - Country code
JV - Language code
S - Changes with version
When you are changing the firmware check that the language code and country code are the same as what you have already this will ensure you have the right firmware. Only the last letter changes usually.

Hey thanks for your reply!
See im a complete novice when it comes to update Android phones on my own...doesnt it mean if i do it with Odin its going to be a custom update and i loose my warranty as it would be an official samsung update anymore ? and the frimware versions its all just numbers and letters to me i coudnt tell the difference between them if i look at them :/ so if you could please link me the exact things that i need if its legal to update that way , if im not asking for too much cause i feel like i am :/ i've been searching both this forum and sam's for a few days and i cant make out anything of it, like i saidi m a novice dont know much :/
Ok i downloaded this :
samfirmware.com/apps/blog/show/8512833-android-2-3-5-for-galaxy-s-
now i have completely no idea what to do with >.< please help!
flash samfirmware 2.3.5 XXJVS, newest and fastest
Ok firstly Odin is a manual tools for updating firmware. And the roms on that site are stock roms (unmodified). The reason Samsung and other manufacturers don't like people flashing roms is that a) you can brick your phone and b) with a custom rom they will not warrantee the rom because they didn't make it. If you flash a stock rom onto your phone you should be fine. (Bricked phones are recoverable usually).
As I said before BACK UP YOUR IMEI DATA as shown by the link in my original post reply as if this data is corrupted even if you get a good rom on your phone if you have lost your imei your phone will not work. (This is more of an issue with custom roms and not usually an issue with stock roms but do it anyway).
**UPDATE** This actually requires that you have Odin up and working which you might not yet so don't worry just yet about this.
Don't use xxjvs yet it may be the wrong language we will check before proceeding.
Ok firstly you need to check the language version of the rom already in your phone the easiest way is to go into settings and then about and check the kernel version it will be something like 2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVS-CL535839
The important bit for now is the bit in bold in the above example I9000 is the model xx is the country code jv is the langauge code and s is the version.
XX = Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom
JV = en,fr,pt,tr(ar,de,es,fa,it,nl)
If you are from Solvenia you country code would normally be XD and im not sure what your language code is. Any firmware you install should have the same country and language codes.
Checking the site there aren't any versions with the XD country code so before continuing can you confirm what version your phone already has?
XD = Croatia, Czech, Hungary, Slovakia
?? = language (use whatever your old rom is)
You can flash different country codes but be aware that this may change the available languages on your phones and/or settings/carrier information. (checking the site they just have the xxjvs firmware listed under "Europe" so it might be fine. It's up to you. That being said when I turn my phone back on after flashing a rom it prompts me with a list of countries so...
You need to install your phone drivers
Then download Odin http://hotfile.com/dl/107607762/640950b/I9003_Odin3_v1.82.rar.html and then un-rar it.
You then need to download the firmware you want to flash the current XXJV firmware is http://hotfile.com/dl/129538506/0a079c6/I9000XXJVS.rar.html.
This will contain 4 files the modem, csc, kernel and pit files everything you need to make it work.
I'm not going to go through the Odin instructions as they are on the site here http://www.samfirmware.com/SVC Android/I9000 Flashguide.pdf and are pretty easy to follow (just ignore the first few pages until you come to the Odin section).

How to update my phone?

So,I bought a new s4 octa today. All is great ranging from the bright screen to the nice 22 gigs available. But I'm having some kind of problem.I don't get any updates via OTA,also I tried using KIES and it says I have non-Samsung device and that it has latest firmware.
The baseband version is i9500XXUAMDK and the build number is JDQ39.I9500XXUAMDK.
I don't have heating problems as I topped 40 Celsius with 32 in standby or just playing with it,but how do I update?

In what country do you live? Also install CPU Z from Play, that should give you info about the phone`s hard- and software. Non-Samsung device but still the latest software?

I'm so sorry,I was mistaken when saying that it's non-Samsung.It's recognized as GT-i9500 so no problem with recognition.I live in Romania. Are you sure that what I have is the latest software? If not,why don't I receive any updates?
EDIT: I used CPU-Z from the beginning, and I have 32-34 when just browsing or watching vids and it gets up to 40 in gaming.

The I9500 is not beeing officialy sold in Romania, the I9505 is. It is probably an imported device from another country bro. There is no Romanian I9500 rom available on Sammobile, only I9505 roms. The MDK is quite an old rom. You could flash the Russian I9500XXUBMG1 rom with Odin for instance. There aren`t many Euro roms available as far as i can see, the Russian SER is the only one next to the German MBC rom http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=17177. Check it on Sammobile yourself http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=GT-I9500&pcode=SER#firmware. What was the language when the phone booted up the first time?

You flash official firmware in this case, so no. In what language did the phone boot up the first time, German, Russian or another language? BTW look in item 1 of my signature for how to use Odin.

I highly recommend that you find out more about your version before starting flashing other firmware. Look at the box, it should give you a hint. Also, find out the CSC (see in Kies, somewhere in the files). After you know your CSC, check sammobile and download your existing firmware just for backup so you can always flash it back to original if needed.
Then look if there is any newer firmware for your CSC. If not, you can flash a newer one for i9500 with a different country code.
If you're planning on rooting, you'll lose warranty, but can always turn back to stock if you need the warranty, triangle away and stock firmware will help.
However, if you root it, first thing you should make an EFS backup.
Edit: Oh wait, triangle away is not available at the moment for i9500... Forgot about that.

I found out that my i9500 is designed for South Africa(XFA).Now,when I look on sammobile,I see that the latest firmware for me is MDK(April) and that's the one I have. How the hell the latest firmware for South Africa is the April one when all the other countries have newer ones(from july and sometimes august)?!?

You can flash a newer firmware from another region, or you should consider the benefits (and the risks) of custom roms.
