Charge your battery while soft bricked - Atrix 4G General

I have seen a few posts on here about a dead battery while stuck soft bricked so the phone won't take a flash, do this at your own risk but if you take a standard USB cable and leave the end to plug in the computer and cut off the other side you will have 4 wires only worry about the red and the black tape the others off just strip the insulation off the red and tape to the connection on the battery labeled plus and strip the black back and tape to negative and then plug in the USB side into a PC, after about 10 minutes you will have enough to flash, be carfull and watch that the battery is not getting hot. Sorry for all the typos and poor grammar its late and I'm posting from my phone

Moved to correct forum.

Sorry about the wrong forum section. Just to add you don't want to do this too long as the voltage is probably not regulated properly for the battery so its not good for it but it will get you out of a brick in a pinch.

I ran into this issue on the Motorola Photon 4g. I've followed your directions, but I am not sure it is charging. After about 20 minutes, I placed the battery back in the phone and it still said battery was too low to flash. So I've stripped the red and black shielding to expose the copper and I'm trying direct contact into the battery + and - slots now. Do you have any suggestions?

Did you honestly try charging through the wire insulation? Electricity travels through the copper wire, not the protective insulation. Also the power flow is regulated before reaching the USB cord, proof is in taking your wall AC charger usb and plugging it into a computer, you get different voltage outputs (meaning it takes longer to charge on comp USB).

It seems to be working now that the copper is directly hitting the battery. Thanks for your confirmation ;p. It's charging on the USB AC wall charger now. Is it preferred to be done through the computer USB to regulate the voltage?

It worked! I'm back in business now! Thanks for all the help

Does it have to be an Atrix 4G or can I follow this method for a Galaxy Note. Also can you use any usb cable... (eg. usb to micro-usb, usb to mini usb)?

i would think you can use it for any battery, just make sure you have the red on the + terminal and the black on the - terminal of the battery... just like charging a car battery, just on a smaller scale!

totally not worth cutting up a cable to do this by a universal battery charger from amazon.com for a penny +5.00 shipping
thats a total of 5.01 thats less than the cost of your usb cable

Sorry I did not realize this thread was still getting views, it does work for every battery i have tried it for so far, I would not cut up a cable for no reason but if you brick it at midnight and don't wanna wait for shipping from amazon it will get you running again, besides I am sure most of us on here have plenty micro sd cables around. I have used this on my droid bionic with success recently.

micro-USB charger too tight to pull out!

Do u guys have the same issue?
Once the microusb is plugged in, it's really tight and uncommonly hard to pull out.
Having carefully examined the microusb, I noticed there is a pair of pins which seem to PREVENT retracting or being pulled out. They work like a heart valve that prevent backflow of blood.
If this is how it works, doesn't it cause damage to both the slot and usb head every time you pull it out?
Please helppppp.

If it's too hard to pull out then the fix would be to start lifting weights.
immature reply: thats what she said
the tighter the usb the better imo, i like to know its in there
That's why I do pull out so no damage is done

microusb saved my evo. Baby pulled the cord that was on the counter a few inches from the edge, evo fell 4 inches from the floor and the usb cord stayed in the wall and saved my evo from certain death.

I've found that the most effective way to unplug the micro usb cable, is to to firmly hold the PC USB end in your hand, and then swing it above your head like a cowboys lasso until the micro usb end is completely out of the phone.

Wow, thank god that it holds tight in that usb slot
But Honestly, if it is way too tight, where it is different than other evo's, Then you might have to push the little "heart valve" in so it wont grab the usb so tight.

My evo 4g wont charge

One day i woke up and my evo stopped accepting charge with both usb and wall charger just wondering if 8 can fix it somehow also i am using an alrernative methode of charging it. Ill explain it in case others think there evos are trash sence they cant get it charged. I used a blue lighted charger[single blue dot on the plug] on the part that connects to the phone i cut it from its base, seperating it from the black wire leaving a plug still connected to the wire. I strippes the wires bare(red and black or translusent and black) about an inch and twist them to a fine lone point. From here i take my phone remove the battery and find where the four copper recivers that lune up with the relitive four on the battery. From here i take the black wire that i stripped bare to an inch and thread it through the copper recivers hook like hole on the far left side and do the same with the red on the far right makeing sure they dont touch the other two recivers. Where '^' is a copper reciver and '+' being red wire and '-' being negitive or black it should look like the' - ^ ^ + '. I then connect the battery and the blue light on the charger will light up if done properly i then plug it in and let it charge.

I know my evo usb port broke over time, it got worse and worse. I could use a book to angle the charger up, but that stopped working finally. I now have to use a wall battery charger as I have not found any angle on the charger to get it started.
You could also try flashing a new rom to see if it fixes the issue.
Some suspect the stock cables of being poorly made. Try a different cable.
Also, you can get battery chargers for about $4 (shipped from the U.S.) on Ebay. Much safer than two bare wires. Do that and a spare battery (also cheap) and you should be good.
Look up Hero batteries, they fit and for some reason are half the price, I paid $3 (shipped from the U.S.) for an oem hero battery in good condition.

Same thing happened with mine. To many nights of falling asleep on it with the charger plugged in. Fortunately mine still works but I have to angle it like you. It's not a big deal anymore since I purchased two Gorilla batteries and a wall charger. I use a FTP server to do any transferring of files I need.

Evo charging
Try something as simple as powering down your evo then remove the battery for say a minute or two reinstall battery plug in charger This has worked on my evo when it won't take a charge not sure what it clears out but a good place to start before cutting charge cables or other routes that may not be needed. best of luck.

This happened to me when it would die completely while still on the charger...
Sometimes I would have to leave the battery out for HOURS!!! Sometimes a whole day or it wouldn't start again.

Mine doesn't charge with some chargers for some reason. It'll charge up fine with the HTC units that came with the phone, aside from that it seems like I get a trickle charge with any other. My port is also loose, ahh well. Few more months and the SIII will drop hopefully.
Mine stopped charging through the USB port so I took it back to Sprint about a month ago and they replaced it at no charge. Was surprised that they replaced it after I had it so long (got it on launch day).
My Evo stop charging as well, I took it into Sprint and they ordered a replacement for me. I didn't have insurance so I had to pay $35 bucks. I still thought it was a good deal considering I basically got a new phone and I bought it almost two years ago

Transformer not charging suddenly

When I woke up this morning I found my tablet at 50% battery and not charging, despite being plugged in. This has never happened before and it was charging fine just yesterday. No changes have been made to the software in a good long while. I've tried three different charging cables so far.
What's stranger still is that the screen comes on when I plug it in, but it still shows battery not charging. I turned it off and left to go see a movie, then when I came back and turned it back on it had actually increased charge but only to 62%. Like it's trickle charging or something.
Anyone experienced this before?
It sounds like your charger went bad and isn't putting out the proper power anymore.

Put it in a zip lock bag and throw it in the freezer, take it out and try to use it again. The thermal overload may not have reset itself, this has happened to myself and others a lot.

I can confirm. This fridge technic save money 2 or 3 times.

Wait, what am I throwing in the freezer and for how long? Tablet or charger?
Also make sure the charging block (where the plug is) is making a good connection where it snaps apart. Same thing happens to me when I first got mine. I put electrical tape around block to solve permanently.
Funnily enough this has just happened to me for the first time today, Ill give the freezer idea a try how long did you put in there for?

Left it in for 30 minutes and nothing. Screen comes on, but doesn't register as charging. The wall adapter will charge my Galaxy Nexus though...
Check inside the port on the tablet. Make sure there is no debris, and the contacts are clean. Use a toothpick or something thin to clean as necessary(preferably non conductive).

This is exactly what's happening with mine. If I turn the tablet off and leave it plugged in to the wall charger overnight it will go up a few dozen percent. And the wall charger charges my phone fine.
Let me know how flashing stock ROM goes for you please.
The charges supplies two voltages and requires taht any extension cable used be USB 3.0. The extra conductors in the USB3.0 cable ( and in the stock charging cable) are used to sense a gnd on pin 7 of the USB 3.0 configured connector. When that Gnd signal is present, the charger outputs 15V to charge the TF or dock. If you use a USB 2.0 extension cable ( extra conductors missing) or the charger does not see the gnd on pin 7 it reverts to 5V out. Your problem is that it is not seeing the gnd. on pin 7. Check the larger connector and the one on the bottom of the TF for bent or dirty pins. Your other option is to get the Dynex universal video power supply. Set the output voltage to 11V and just use USB 2.0 cables to charge. Remember not to use the dynex set to 11V to charge your cell phone or you will get smoke.
Can someone look at the port on the tablet itself and tell me if all pins should look identical? I am seeing what could be what looks like plastic debris around one of the pins toward the right. Or it could be a blocked pin used as a key to prevent plugging it in upside down. Not sure what it's supposed to look like.
I picked up a replacement wall charger today and it won't charge either. Looks like it's definitely an issue with the pins of the tablet itself. I put in a support request from Asus, but I don't know how much help they'll be. Especially if my warranty is up.
have you tried using another "asus" sync cable?
i sent my charger away for RMA as i thought it was gone (could trickle charge and pc would recognize tablet when connected - but it would not make a dent on the dock, not even the charge indicator light)......it still ended up being the sync cable at fault.
They sent me the old adaptor back with a new cable and alls well.

Yeah, I've actually tried four cables now. I had bought two extras off Ebay a while back and they were still in their bags. I tried those two, the cable the tablet came with, and a fourth one that came with the replacement wall charger I just picked up today. Between four cables and two chargers it definitely has to be the tablet at this point.

[Q] Q9 wireless charging problem

Hi!
I've just received the Q9 Wireless Charger from a manufacturer in china.
It's Qi-compatible and have been seen working with the Nexus 4.
Mine does not seem to work.
The manual says a led should be shining green when it's ready to charge or when it's charging. It's hard to read the chinese translated manual.
Mine just shines red and blue constantly and nothing is happening with the phone.
Am i doing something wrong? Do i have to activate it in my phone? I've tried putting it in any direction in any place on the pad.
Someone have a clue?
EDIT:
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-...AXGI/bQONE5B2MMw/s718/IMG_20130106_121126.jpg
I have the Energizer Qi charger and when I place the phone on the charging plate, a light over the plate shines a steady blue until charging is complete. Flashing multiple colors (especially if one of them is red) probably means there is a problem with the charging system or the power.

Is the power cord connected securely? Maybe it's not pushed in completely (or shouldn't be pushed in so far).
For what it's worth that's not the Qi symbol on the charge plate.
If possible, send it back for replacement. It seems to me that those two LEDs should light up for no more hen a few seconds after the device is plugged in and then turn off until they nerd to indicate some condition like charge complete or error.

I have the Q9 charger for couple of days.
It's takes many tries of locating Nexus 4 on chargers surface to make it work.
Many times (most of my tries) I unable to make it work at all.
I am wary disappointed with this charger. It was waist of many.
I shouldn't have to be such cheapskate.
Q9 Qi-charger broken
I had mine for about a week now. Used it with my Nexus 4. Charges the Nexus quickly, but when at 100% it stops charging. Only when unplugging charger and re-plugging it, it will charge again. One morning Nexus was at 77% while laying on charger. After a few times unplugging, the connector was pushed into the charger leaving it useless. Do not buy!
Just got one too
I have to place my Nexus towards the top of the charger for it to activate and start charging.
Took me a while to find the correct placement.
My pad is supposed to flash blue when its charging - It starts charging and then seems to stop, then start again, then stop - not sure if this is normal or not.
So far i'm pretty disappointed with it, I assume because I got a cheapy from china that this isn't the normal experience with QI chargers, but I doubt I will be buying another until I see someone else with a much better model.
Try this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2156397

Charging port failing?

OK guys, I've waited a while to finally post this but I'm about to toss this device.
So for the past few months USB charging cables no longer stick into the charging port. When you first get the device you could practically flail the phone around by the USB cord. However, now they are so lose I have to tape the cord to the phone to maybe get it just right and charge. The USB slot is looser than a two dollar whore now.
It first started with the factory charger (which died) and never got a replacement (thanks moto)! So got another 3rd party charger and that cable was better but still not tight. Now no cable will stick and is a sloppy mess.
I'm assuming this is going to require a RMA and replacement? Would this even be covered, and considering the RMA for my stock charger months later resulted in no new charger it's worrying too attempt a phone RMA. Let alone the short lifespan of the port. I only plug in ever 1-2 days by the way.
Anyone else having this issue and if so what did you do?
Sent from my XT1575 using XDA Free mobile app
Out of all of my devices, I've only had one port fail, on a tablet, that I believe someone sat on while it was plugged in. But, on all of my devices, I plug them in and leave the device alone. Are you tossing your device around while it's plugged in, or sleeping next to it while it's plugged it? I know parts fail, but the stock charger clips in snugly on my moto daily, and on my tablet every 3rd day, and I have zero issues. Even my cheap cables and car charger plugs snugly. Maybe you just got a faulty part.

Take a look at the two spring loaded prongs on your cable. Are they still pointy and extended? Usually when this happens I notice my prongs have noticeable wear on them
Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk
No, I don't use my phone and cable as a mace or as a personal defense weapon when I play superhero on the weekend However it does have it's home on the nightstand next to the bed with one of my tablets. I haven't dropped or sat on the device whilst plugged in, I have done this with previous phones where it bends the metal on the USB cable but even then hasn't caused a loose port on those devices.
One of the cables indeed has worn down prongs to my surprise for being new, so I looked through my drawers of cables and found one with nice shiney new prongs. This does make locking in place more efficient in my case but not like it was new. You can still fairly easily loose connection moving the device around while plugged in but not instant disconnect from gravity like the stock charger or the other cables.
I would check the charging port for lint. This can cause a cable not to stay in. Simply take a piece of tape and roll it back onto itself with the sticky side out making sure it's the right side to fit in the port. I've done this with several devices and it makes a big difference.
