Ota update - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

Has anyone got the latest update from Sanding with the new ui? I thought it was going to be sent out yesterday. Will you get it if you are rooted?
Tapa, tapa, Tapatalk! Quoth the Raven - Nevermore

Everything I've seen says 'coming soon', what gave you the impression that it was coming yesterday?

I saw some post saying the release date was July 5th. Maybe I was just hopeful

Do we really need to make a Samsung account to update?

Wish you were right!

Damn, just went and googled the update and realized the update on July 5th was for the Sprint Galaxy Tab NOT the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Oh well, I guess I'll need to wait for "soon" before it gets updated. Still wondering if I will get the OTA since I rooted my 10.1 or if I will need to flash back to the default stock non-rooted version first.

My guess (totally uneducated) is that if you're rooted, you may have trouble since there are some fundamental changes. But that's seriously just a guess.

Speaking about updates.
The Samsung apps store got a update to a more tablet friendly UI. Isn't much but always something in the waiting for touchwiz.

World Release! Android 2.2 FROYO on the Samsung Galaxy S. Tomorrow 12 o'clock'. AMSTERDAM

At the look of this I suspect that getting 2.2 sent OTA for the Vibrant shouldn't be too far behind.
This is awesome, I heard the vibrant is supposed to get froyo early august. I am impressed with samsung, they are ready stepping up.
Do you think we would still get the update if we rooted the vibrant?

I'm pretty sure read somewhere on the forums that confirmed that even if you root it, you should still receive OTA's. However, might want to find someone that could confirm that. I'm about to go pick up my Vibrant, im so excited!

I don't see why rooting should stop you from getting the update.
If you have done more than just rooting, then I'm assuming you might have trouble getting the OTA update. Maybe someone more knowledgeable can chime in.
EDIT: By "more than just rooting", I mean if you have installed a custom bootloader or a custom rom.
Cool beans!

Yeah, but if you install it, you will lose root. There will be a modified rom that's rooted VERY shortly after it is released though (Probably before many get the OTA update).
Wow, that was quick! Glad to see Samsung is following through with their promise and fast.
Hopefully the Vibrant will get a release in early August.
if this also includes a GPS fix, i'll be picking up a vibrant within the next week or two... after i pay AT&T my last payment on that contract. whoo!!

Hope so! though t mobile will want to get their hands on it before we see an OTA, of course once a vibrant/captive compatible version hits the internet, we will see a flash ready in no time.
great news!
lol. saw this thread and looked at my twitter tab and the tweet was there waiting for me.
awesome. too bad this isn't for the vibrant. right? just the international?
Non OTA related
This is not official in any capacity. How is this related to OTA release when feed is hosted by samsung-firmware.webs ?
This is so awesome thanks for the info.

there should be no reason for those who rooted to not recieve an ota update. however, if you flashed a custom kernal/radio then those ota's might've been disabled.
Anyone noticed this?

News from Samsung on Froyo

Samsung UK We know you are all eagerly awaiting the Froyo updates, and we appreciate your patience. The network testing of the Galaxy S Froyo upgrade is proceeding according to the schedule we released last week (we expect all UK customers to receive their upgrade by the end of November). We can confirm that the software we’re working on includes a solution to the Froyo Android Market issue which has been widely discussed.
http://www.facebook.com/roger.pitman#!/SamsungUK
Mmm, same thing on twitter.
Really not liking that 'end of Nov' part.
Just read this too, good news if they can keep to their word. Makes sense that they pulled it after the initial release to sort out the market issue, doesn't say about any other problems people have experienced but I guess they just want to get this out now and then tweak it more if necessary later.
We know the final build is done as they have released the japanese version with 2.2, so it must be about upgrading thats causing the problem. Just like people on here have said once they did a clean install it works pretty well, so they must want to make sure its ok when moving from eclair to froyo
End of november? Gasp
The nicest thing is, that market problem is not even related to the phone itself. My mate, who has a desire has the exact same problem with the market "download unsuccessful" problem....if this is what they are talking about...

I think it is the problem where the Market does not show up in app drawer or on screen after update.
They replied to the fb thread with
'Samsung UK Hi Davinder and Darren. We're releasing Froyo from the beginning of November and we're expecting all networks to have it by the end of November.'
November 8 samsung is releasing a 2.3 device and they will take till november end to release a froyo update wtf is wrong with samsung......
None of this makes sense! Does it?

You have to make a difference between rumors that looks like news and real official statements :|
It's going to be released on Nov 8th? I through it was just being announced on that date?

So everyone is calling this the official Froyo update, meaning that this is the version that they are going to release via OTA in the coming days (hopefully, not weeks) to retail units not just dev? If that's the case why are so many people having issues with the update? Also, anyone else getting OTA updates? Just asking cause if it's the same one they are going to OTA without any changes I might as well just update right now.

Unless I am mistaken, bluetooth voice dialing is not a native function of froyo, it is included in a google app that is only compatible with froyo. As with all google apps, carriers can choose whether or not to include it. If it is not pre-installed, it can be downloaded from the market.

This just my 2 cents. I believe that the Verizon update leaked about on the 1/10 is to allow the phone to be updated by Kies. Granted, this week is CES, and Verizon is lauching new LTE phones, but I also see this as an opportunity for Samsung to announce updates to their Galaxy S lines in the US. Considering how many of these phones have sold, if there isn't an announcement at CES, there may never be one, lol. But I believe they will say something, because they want to build up the Galaxy S brands, and you really can't do that by screwing consumers out of an update for a Free Mobile OS.
It is really most likely a bug fix, hence why it's called MR2 (Maintainence Release). Most likely it's DL09. NOT froyo.
It may actually be our beloved froyo that we've been waiting for.
But honestly, I'm waiting for jt and co's gingerbread...
Who cares .... for those who don't frequent IRC, here's today's status: "You'll notice there is not AOSP status here, thats because we got the .35 kernel booting and have moved to gingerbread...have a nice day"
i would be on IRC just watching whats going on if nothing else... but i couldnt tell you how to access it lol

Touchwiz Release - August 3rd

Per this article -

Seems Samsung will be hosting a release party in NY, and side-loading Touchwiz to attendees.
So... hopefully we'll be seeing the update on the same day.

I have a locked version, should I root and add CWM before I do this or leave it bone stock?
I am very pleased that they at least gave us some date not like with froyo for my vibrant! It seems like Samsung is very excited about this update as we are. Lol.. My prediction is that they will release an ota date on wednesday like they did with the the actual unit itself and we will all have it by Friday next week, but who knows... Haha
