[Q] TV app cannot start up, Docomo version - Galaxy S II General

I rooted the NTT docomo Galaxy S II SC-02C, but since then the TV app can never start up again. Is there anyone met the same problem?
Thanks for answering in advance.

Flash the package from here and you'll be good.

Do i need to backup the phone when flash this kernel? Thank you.

That package will only alter your kernel/baseband. Installed programs/data won't be touched. (It will even remove the warning sign from your boot screen even though you're still rooted)

thank you so much! The problem is solved with your method. It really helps. Arigatou!

sim network unlock pin?

Hello,
I've just installed the leaked 4.1.2 JB ROM.
The phone boots up but it is asking me for "sim network unlock pin".
I know for a fact that my phone is not locked. I purchased it from a private store and had installed 2.3.5, 4.0.3 and 4.0.4 stock ROMs of different carriers.
I even switched between two different carriers without a problem.
Any idea what I can do?
Someone told me it might be the modem file that is "confused"? Has that got anything to do with it?
Thank you for your help!

Try to search the main thread, a few mentioned solution there. Didn't pay attention to the solution so not sure what it was, but I think it was an app from the store.

Thanks for replying. Most apps require root. I'm not a noob but still not an expert. Any ideas on how I get root access?
Or look at the thread about being stuck with sim lock. It is pretty active and here in general.

By the way, If I go back to ICS, installing the original carrier ROM. Will be phone still be locked?

You can get root by flashing Philz kernel for recovery. It can be flashed through stock recovery.
Not sure about rollback to ICS, but my guess it that it'll work since the problem is caused by software

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I'm sorry. I guess I'm a bit excited.
At first, I was a nervous wreck. I actually thought I'm never going to unlock my phone and that I've screwed things up.
It didn't help when I rolled back to ICS and the "SIM network unlock pin" appeared either.
Eventually, I downloaded an app and paid about 2.5$ to have it unlocked.
Then, I decided to try installing JB one more time and now it works and everything is working smoothly!
Can't thank you enough.
Thank you for your kind help!

GT-i9505x Recovery

Hello, i own a 9505x not a normal 9505, and flashing the existing custom recoveries, do nothing, since i cant boot them.
The root works fine.
Since this 9505x is a demo unit, it has some software restrictions i want to eliminate, like it wont turn off the screen and will keep on playing a Samsung demo, it wont take over 20seconds videos and some other annoying stuff, i am trying to make it a retail unit.
Any suggestions ?
Why did you post this here in "Android Development"?
Can some admin post it in q and a?
Noone owns one?
same here mate!
i got my hands on a i9505X at work (with sim tray and mmc slot) but i can't deactivate demo (retail) mode. everytime you poweroff the device it wipes every change.
it tried flashed a i9505 stock rom via Odin and it fails in the modem.bin part...
i was sucesslfull at rooting the device, but now my i9505X takes ages to boot (stuck in Samsung Galaxy S4 for a while) and has no wifi
i tried almost every i9050 kernel available with no luck...
any ideas?

Its working, i just messed up the recovery mode by flashing a i9505 recovery and now i cant restore it. I want to unroot it and flash the mew firmware from kies. Thats why i need the stock recovery
Any chance you can extract the stock firmware for your GT-I9505X and upload it please. I have the same device given to me by a Samsung Rep and I stupidly tried to install the stock formware for the i9500 varient and now its had it. It loads the samsung boot screen as soon as you turn it on and then just keeps restarting every 5 seconds. Im hoping if I can get hold of the original firmware and reflash it will work! Cant find the firmware anywhere!

Same issue on Note 3
Newbie rooter here:
I am having the exact same issue on my Note 3 (N900) just rooted without custom ROM.
I have tried unrooting with Super SU and root checker shows no proper root access however the device status is still showing custom.
Really dissapointed that its not working now with my Samsung all share cast dongle.
Any advice or suggestions appreciated.
I am on WanamLite, with Perseus, screen mirroring works perfectly fine with my television.

DjeMBey has a working method. See this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2255190
I flashed the provided OFFICIAL STATUS MOD file via Odin & then used Wanam Xposed to 'fake system status'. This changed my Binary status to official & screen mirroring is now working on my rooted S4 (I9500) on 4.4.2 (19500XXUFNA6). Try it & let us know if it works for you ?

Can't Sim Unlock my I9505 Orange

Hello there, I've got a Galaxy S4 bought from Orange, I've just got it rooted a while ago, and I'm now moving to the next step, unlocking it.

[Help] [SM-S903VL] Help Rooting a Samsung Galaxy S5

Hi, my name is Kit and I am having trouble locating information on how to root the specific model for my phone.
Phone:Samsung Galaxy S5
Model:SM-S903VL
Carrier: Straight Talk
Android Version: 6.0.1
Baseband Version: S903VLUDU4APH3
Kernal Version:
3.4.0-8867563
[email protected] #1
Wed Aug 10 18:39:36 KST 2016
Build Number: MMB29M.S903VLUDU4APH3
Any help in pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. I have tried looking about and only found a Chinese Website that mentioned the Firmware.
I am not sure if there isn't a root or if I am simply misunderstanding how to do something.
Please and thank you for taking time to try to help me.
Sorry for the double post and bump, but it has been a few days, and my topic seemed to be drifting away from page 1 and 2.
I still do need assistance if anyone can help.
Please and thank you.
I would like information too just got this phone and would like to root if possible.
same here, theres hardly any info about this phone.
I want this so hard

Yep! I assumed it was from the fact that I had a Samsung Galaxy S4 before this phone. And I used that phone to restore my apps from. It says about Samsung Video (S4 & Note3) I believe for me.
Any ideas?

I haven't seen the beaming service app refuse to update. I'm not sure why it's doing this. The only thing I can assume is the new version of Samsung Video in the app store isn't compatible with the Galaxy S5 (or the installed firmware), and that somebody in quality control wasn't doing their due diligence.
I've been really happy with this phone so far, just wish I could root it. I haven't tried any suggested methods yet, I'm waiting to see what successes other people are having first before I brick my phone (I'm chicken!). I've been following this thread as well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...p-rooting-straight-talk-s5-sm-s903vl-t3503505
Just got this phone about a month or so ago and I can't find anything about rooting it. It is very frustrating because everyone keeps ignoring posts about this phone and it then drifts away and nothing gets answered. I have tried the @kxhan15 's method on root a similar version from Straight Talk but fails in ODIN trying to flash TWRP. I really wish someone would come to the rescue with an answer!
I don't know if there is some other information I can provide that may help or where else to look for assistance. In all honesty I just feel useless having to wait.
Give us root! Dev gods hear our cries!
I have these files. Anyone know what to do to make it into root?

Doesn't the TowelRoot v3 app let you modify some code to let you use it with phones that are not yet compatible? I looked into it but I don't quite understand it.
Hopefully someone is working on it behind the scenes and is just keeping it under wraps.
Maybe it will be a holiday present for us! Wishful thinking though.
