Dear Mr Root.
Please hear our prayers to root our Gingerbread devices!! Everyone knows that stock rom's are just plain old boring, and no fun at all. We need something to play with and break We wake up each morning, just hoping for that 'miracle' on XDA.
New user here..... Just bought an Evo 4G that has Gingerbread on it... Kinda sucks!

I agree, and you are so correct! This is not fun for me, as I just switched from Verizon w/ Droid X to Sprint w/ Evo 4G. I need my phone rooted!!!

Really....another thread about getting ROOT. This does not help and only clogs up the board with uselessness. There is a sticky at the top of the General section or posts just like this called: Off Topic Lounge.

My phone kicked the bucket so I had to call in insurance and I was forced to use gingerbread with the new bootloader and I came from cm7 running a tiamat sbc kernal, and its not stock sense that pisses me off (however I do prefer asop) but its the stock kernal the battery life is a joke I have the 3500 extended battery and I still need a bigger battery

I dont feel sorry for the people who lost root by foolishly installing the OTA update. But I do pitty those who got a new EVO, refurb replacement, or switched carriers! That would blow. I'm surprised Unrevoked hasnt updated yet or something. No Root from the community after this long!?

Look you guys none of you know how to even start with rooting the htc Evo so don't go all like I can't believe there's no root yet.

Root root root!!!

i got my phone brand new lil over a month ago, everyone said itd come with gingerbread on it.. after i bought it of course i find out its unrootable.. but surprise surprise it had 2.2 on it outta the box.. phew!

I am done waiting, I returned my phone for my MoPho (Mototola Photon 4G), and have rooted it WebTopless, (without a dock). Also, I hate the fact that the phone has such little internal storage, and I do miss Sense, but I have a Sense Launcher. I have a Front Facing Camera, and a kickstand.
I have an Otterbox Defender Case/Holster and now I have to mod it and add dust filters for the two microphones...

Ok my bad idk anything about the epic maybe its a lil different than the Evo but the Evo got an OTA update a couple months back and I wasn't sure if she had gotten the same thing on her epic

They were confused because our Gingerbread official release appears to be around the corner, and you were mentioning an OTA update lol.

So man... how can you live letting your woman get the better phone? I mean I can't see any reason why unless she cooks and cleans constantly....

When gb comes out though u will root using odin or heimdale. Our phones are not locked down by the bootloader like the evo is.

Dude are you serious? Ahaha you know how many keyboards, power buttons, camera buttons, and speakers I've gone through fixin that damn phone? It's horrendous bro come on you can't come at me like that! thinkin I don't know lol she's on her 5th speaker and you know what I'm talkin about lol don't play dumb lol I've sent her phone in 4 times cuz the damn screen wouldn't let her unlock her phone I have never sent my phone in once and we've had our phones since the beginning of the year she's on her 2nd keyboard and her 4th phone 3rd camera button Wthell she does with it I have no clue but seriously that's a lot of **** I replaced in 7 months bro so you better knock it off lol

Don't take things personal...I have never seen any Evo love around here. Its definately a hate/hate relationship.lol. I personally like the Evo. My friend has one. I think its a good phone but you have to expect everyone around here to say the Epic is better.

DON'T GET ME WRONG I LIKE THE EPIC I like the epic I had a gay ass blackberry before my Evo and she had the epic before I decide to get the Evo a week after she got her epic I was messin around with her epic and for some reason it encouraged me to get the Evo idk why lol

My roommate has a Evo & he had to replace the phone 8X!!! Ive had my Epic & never once had to go to sprint to fix anything & he had never had it rooted my epic 4g is rooted to the max thanks to my epic mafia crew everyone whos help me with my noob ? I'm only a month & 2 weeks in to this wonderful

If it goes as quickly and smoothly as it did for me, that's plenty of time to get root, flash the recovery and a new ROM.

Worked PERFECTLY!! Thanks to the Dev's who broke it. Now I need to flash a new ROM

Can't multiquote from my phone but yes, it does have 2.3.4.
The phone is pretty sweet, just no dev love so it is stock everything. We can't even get root anymore cause no one cares about it.

I rooted my father's EVO 4G with it yesterday and several reboots afterward, it's running fine. No need for UnrEVOked as far as I can see.

Revolutionary and PC36img issues.
Hello all;
new to the game, i was originally rooted with unrevoked but with the upgrade to gingerbread i had to unroot and lost everything. just tried to run revolutionary.exe every thing runs fine until I say yes to internet update, it starts then stops due to error.
help please, I had the a red triangle but with searching i was able to find pc36img_recovery.zip ran that and it fixed the red triangle issue, but the recovery. file only had one img. where would i find the current pc36img for my evo4g, my Evo 4g is one of the 1st released.

REvolutionary is amazing,had to get a refurbed evo that came with update and was stuck with a stock phone for two weeks till this tool saved my life and 3 of my friends as well

how do we revert back to stock?

didnt work on mine 2.3.3 ,4.24.651.1 kept giving me invalid beta key even with copy/paste method..

When will the gingerbread update be released for the Epic?

Its taking forever...... I thought it should have come by now, the epic is nearing its EOL, I wonder if it will be out before then....

Its always been fo sure dates except they kept scrapping gingerbread versions for 2.3.3 the date was 9/20 or something and it got scrapped then they started on 2.3.4

not necessarily. You can use the odin one in download mode.

And there is the EH-17 for Odin? I haven't done much with her phone so I am trying to catch up. Appreciate all the help.

Yes, but in order to install CWM you need to root first, as you might already know. The latest one click is under development as well and its "stickied" to the top

xTMFxOffshore, your girlfriend should be aware that she's getting a leak, and I hope there's a good reason you're doing this, for your sake. I love messing with my devices when i can deal with the issues, but i wouldnt put a buggy leak on someone elses phone who may not be as open minded. Two common problems I experienced myself and read about on here were:
-random reboots. They've got a compelling theory in the works but you're messing with cpu speeds and voltages
-stock browser sucks. No way to go back a page; back button closes browser.

I know better than to even install an app on my girlfriends phone. she would blame me for anything that's wrong afterwards. no thanks

She had a thousand problems with the phone all ready it was a refurb. so I'm not too worried about it. if it causes issues, then I can root it. It was partly a reason for her to finally let me root the phone and flash a custom ROM. But we'll see how it goes. So far it runs fine for me. Plus I updated to a different modem.

I'm relatively sure it fixes the ShiftySonOfA exploit. I can no longer root my device with that method.

So no point installing it? I can live with that.

id just avoid it like the plague, the odds of a developer bothering to work on an exploit if it does close the hole is slim to none nowadays since most of the devs have moved on to better phones by now

I think if anyone would fix the exploit it would just be to test there skills. and say that they did.

Avoid Sprint Official Updates like the plague . Never take an Update form Sprint till your sure what it is. It's one sure fire way to get yourself into ISH.

I didnt do anything to the ota other than cook it up Stock odex. I could deodex it and post that too so its easier for people to get in there and do mods though. Its all what you all want. But a debloated bone stock optimized rom dont sound halfway bad. Even though you guys have ICS and all that good stuff, some users do like Stock optimized ( no tweaks and minor changes ) so.....................
