I think I just found a security bug - Galaxy S II General

I'm using the Villain 1.4 ROM so curious if this happens on the stock rom too?
Basically I have the pin lock enabled but when on the pin screen if I double tap the home button it tries to take me into the voice command app, as I have never used it it presented me with the Samsung Disclaimer with a Next and Previous button at the bottom, I pressed Previous and it took me to my home screen totally bypassing the screen lock...anyone else get this?

Not happening on stock ROM.

Had you already accepted the disclaimer before? Im wondering if its related to that, once accepted it doesnt show the disclaimer and so the pin bypass cant happen.
Or does the stock rom not even start the voice app when you double tap home on the pin lock screen?

Voice app didn't start. Just shows the pin security screen.

I just try to do this on my phone (villian rom 1.4), but it didnt work it just stayed on the lock screen

Pattern lock no longer works

Hello everyone,
I hate it when my phone decides to call people all by itself. I've since found that my pattern unlock no longer works. It first happened with the CyanogenMod 4.2.9.1 and still happens now with 4.2.10.1.
I can disable the lock, edit a new pattern and re-enable it and it still chooses not to lock. Pressing the home key just brings me back to the home screen when the phone is asleep. It seems to remember the pattern as if I try and change it I need to get the old pattern right until it lets me make a change.
If anyone can help it will be much appreciated.

Security issue in Stock ICS LPY DBT

Hi all,
i use StocK ROM ICS, no root and Stock Kernel on my Note.
Most times i set my events on google calendar with settings popup 10 minutes before appointment will start. if you do so you will get a reminder on the phone like this one on screenshoot attached.
The big problem is now that i use PIN for security lock the phone, but after this reminder the whole phone is unlocked and you can use it normal without the need of the correct PIN!
In settings the phone still says, phone locked with PIN, but you can shut off the screen or let phone as it is until screen shuts off, but with power button or home button you can access the phone again without the need of the PIN
Phone stays in in this status until you set the PIN config again or some times it will be locked if an email or call gets in.
Does anybody else get this issue already?
Anybody else with this issue?
Can some one with LPY ROM test please?
-set phone via volume button to silent, vibration off also
- make an appointment with reminder 10mins before start time
than same screen should appear like on screenshot from previous post
now close the appointment and check if you can access the homescreen without the need of a PIN or pattern.
Thanks for a feedback.

clean "swipe" lockscreen with pattern-lock beneath it?

Alright, before i had restored and flashed goldeneye 4.3 rom, i was rooted 4.2.2 stock. i had it set so that my phone wouldnt technically lock (via the pattern lock) until 5 min after the phone was idle. thus if i were to let my screen sleep, or tap the power button my phone would unlock through the unsecured swipe method within that 5 min window. ...
now since i flashed 4.3 goldeneye im not sure if its me or the rom but i cant duplicate however i enabled that feature before:silly:
ive tried playing with settings>display>screen timeout, but upon hitting the home, itll just bring up the screen from where it was rather going to its default "swipe" lockscreen. Im also running "gotya!" security app, and i want to have the pattern lock enabled for that reason. any ideas or recommendations? i really enjoy hitting my home button and seeing a clean lockscreen picture but then having the security beneath it:good:

Assuming your on stock 4.2.2 TW it should be Settings --> My Device --> Lock Screen --> Secured Lock Time
If your on a custom ROM it should be in Settings --> Lock Screen --> Secured Lock Time
I imagine yours is currently set to "Instantly with the power key or when the screen times out" if you move it to 5 minutes it should do what I understand your wanting. The phone will lock with a pattern after 5 minutes of inactivity, but will unlock by a general swipe if used before that threshold is passed.

heres what ive tried and all my rom enables, settings--screen lock/pattern-- "lock automatically--1 minute
with this setting i used to be able to lock with the power key, and if i would then wake the screen, within that 1 min window, 4.2.2 would prompt me to the nice simple unsecured swipe lockscreen. but now 4.3 will instantly "pattern lock" it....and lets say i uncheck that "lock instantly with power key" box, ill sleep the screen w the power key, go to wake it and itll open up right to where i left it bypassing any lockscreen or swipelock
Better yet, can we do it for not just patter but even with a passcode.
When you want to have work email most companies want to have Administrative policies enabled forcing use to at least have a pin for security.
Any way even with a AOSP or new TW 4.3 custom roms we could without creating a passcode I think a pattern would be enough.
Odd, I don't know how to help any further then what I posted above. Hopefully someone else can solve your problem. Best of luck! I'm curious myself now.

figured its the rom, im using widgetlocker now, and completely removed all its icons and enabled "back button unlock" feature while keeping the stock pattern lock behind it. same concept but im running an app to compensate
Awesome, glad you where able to get it to work!

Slide to Unlock plus Pin security

I just bought the Droid Turbo and I encrypted my phone with a PIN. Now when my phone is in between the screen off and the 5 minute lock time for the pin access, if you press the power button it automatically goes to the home screen. On my 5 other Android phones in between the screen off and the PIN lock out time if you press the power button you still have to slide to unlock. Is there any way to get this back? Or a 3rd party app that will let me do this without disabling the security PIN? I have tried several KitKat and Lollipop lock screen apps but they all remove the pin lock security. I do have the Tasker app but i am unsure how to set this option up. Thanks for any help. If I need to explain the issue better let me know.

I don't think it is available that way with Moto Display. On my Moto X 2013 it doesn't do that either. Because there is a slide unlock on the Moto/Active Display when there are notifications or when the device moves, you slide there to either get the notification or go to the home screen.

I like that feature however, if I press the power button it goes straight to the home screen without sliding to unlock. I dont like that. I want to have to slide to unlock even if I press the power button.

You would probably need a 3rd party lock screen to do that, but I think you'd then always swipe to PIN, after that 5 minutes passed. You can only select one lock screen type on Moto X, so it is either slide OR PIN/Password, but you can't have both. I know what you're referring to, I had it on my Droid X and Droid Razr Maxx, but the only way to turn those on was with the power button. Because the newer Moto phones have Active/Moto Display, I think it works as the slide unlock.
I can say that over time you will use the power button less and less, because you will get used to the Active Display. It's a hard habit to shake, but you'll actually find yourself turning your phone on less to check notifications. On my Moto X I pick it up and see there is a notification (or see it "breathing" an unread notification) and if I press and hold on the circled notification I can see the details. So I can see what the text is, who the email is from, what the tweet is, etc and if I don't care to unlock and view I can swipe left/right to clear it without every actually turning the screen on or unlocking the phone.
If you control the apps that are able to show on Active Display and only places ones you really care about, you'll turn your phone on even less and only for the things you feel are important.

I use Tasker and Secure Settings to set/remove my PIN based on my home WIFI connection (it turns PIN off when I'm at home).
Setup your profile with Tasker first, then create an action and select Plugins (or 3rd party, I forget), and select Secure Settings. You'll have a big list of options, Keyguard is under Actions and Password/PIN is under Dev Admin actions. You'll need to enable Secure Settings as a device administrator in your phone settings.
You will probably need to have a profile that sets keyguard when the screen shuts off and waits 5 minutes, then disables keyguard and turns on PIN/Password lock. Then another profile that resets the status to recycle it once you unlock the phone.
Can you post the step by step instructions. I have never used Tasker before and I am completely lost.

There's an option to Lock Immediately on Power or something. In security settings. Or just reduce your time out.

Major security glitch by OK GOOGLE!!!!

I'm not sure if im right but ive tried it 6-7 times and there is a major security glitch in the phone.
Here it goes:
When the screen is locked ( protected by finger print authentication and pattern lock), if u trigger the OK GOOGLE command ( not by pressing the microphone button in the lock screen) and ask it a question , it will bypass the authentications and direct u to the google answer screen and if u tap the middle home button the phone unlocks itself.
maybe its just my phone or am i missing something?

This glitch does not exist on my phone. If I press the home button from the OK GOOGLE page, it takes me back to the lock screen. It is still locked and only unlocks after I authenticate.

Long press on home screen and then press on settings.
Go to voice -> ok google detection and then turn off trusted voice.
It's not a bug. It just recognizes your voice but its not safe. As the feature is not accurate it may unlock even with others voice. Better turn off trusted voice. The voice command works even from lock screen works if your turn on option to Ok google from any app.
When i use it it says that the screen is locked and won't open my contacts
Try this

In Google app setting, go to 'Voice' > "Ok Google' Detection > and then check if the Trusted Voice is On or Off. If it is On then turn it Off. I hope this will help.
